- Classic 3D platforming!
- A variety of different micro worlds!
- Different gamplay styles!
- A lot of unique and characteristic NPCs to interact with!
Search, Collect and Jump (multiple times in a row even!) like it's
1998!
stunt driving 80s cars, First Person shooting sections, 2.5D Sections, a bar
full of half drunk characters and a temple full of water for you!
...wait, come back here! The waterlevel is not that difficult, I promise!

Waste of time and money.
it's rough but cute, if you're planning on playing super kiwi 64, i reccomend playing this first
7/10
The graphics are Really cool. the gameplay.. it's not bad, it's just not great nether. If this game was longer it would probably lose it's appeal quickly. Most of the levels was about finding items to solve npc problems. in the most basic way possible. There were some levels that changed things up a bit. honestly it just looks like the dev was just learning how to program different things and added his creations into the mix. it's not bad for under a pound and since it's so short, you can easily just play it for a laugh. having to constantly skip book pages to get to the next level was really annoying though. also one of the puzzles ab out pressing the switches in the right order was really boring and the cameras didn't help with you forgetting the order you've already tried. Maybe there was a hint or something to this puzzle but I just tried remembering all the different possibilities and it wasn't that much fun to do.
really short but i love the fact that the devs incorporate easter eggs from their other games such as super kiwi 64 and beeny (which are both really fun to play) i really like the games they put out :D
Short but overall a pretty cool game. Just like Super Kiwi 64.
Banjo & Friends Review Macbat 64 – With a Dash of Rhyme
(The scene opens in the cozy living room of Banjo’s house. Banjo is sitting on the couch with Kazooie perched on his shoulder. Bottles the mole is sitting on the floor, Mumbo Jumbo is sitting nearby, and Tootie is playing with a toy. Gruntilda, Klungo, and Humba Wumba are all lounging around, ready to chime in.)
Banjo (grabbing a controller):
"Alright, everyone, I found us a new game,
It’s called Macbat 64, seems pretty tame.
It’s full of fun and platforming delight,
Let’s play together, it'll be a blast tonight!"
Kazooie (rolling her eyes):
"Ugh, another platformer? Give me a break,
I’d rather eat a sandwich or do a belly ache.
But whatever, Banjo, I’m along for the ride,
Just don’t make me jump too much—let’s keep it wide."
Bottles (picking up a second controller):
"Don’t worry, Kazooie, I’ve got the moves,
This game’s got platforming that’ll make you groove!
It’s got vibrant levels, like a candy store,
Collecting keys, I bet we’ll be begging for more!"
Mumbo (laughing, shaking his bones):
"Mumbo not know, but Mumbo try,
With Macbat’s magic, Mumbo will fly!
Mumbo join, even if Mumbo’s small,
Look at this bat, is he having a ball?"
Gruntilda (floating in on her broomstick, scowling):
"Grunty’s here to say—what a shame,
Another bat game? They all feel the same!
Let’s see if Macbat 64 can surprise,
But I’ll be here laughing, with evil in my eyes!"
Tootie (giggling, bouncing on the couch):
"I bet the bat’s cute, what a lovely face,
He flies around with a lot of grace!
The levels are fun, and the music’s sweet,
I’m ready to play and hit repeat!"
Klungo (clapping his hands, eagerly):
"Klungo loves games, yes yes yes,
Anything fun, no time to rest!
Klungo hopes it’s as good as Banjo and me,
Can we play without much tragedy?"
(Banjo starts the game, and the opening level shows Macbat soaring through a bright and colorful world.)
Banjo:
"Look at that world, it’s so bright,
It’s like a childhood dream taking flight!
Just like Banjo-Kazooie, the colors are bold,
Every world feels like it’s made of gold!"
Kazooie (sarcastically):
"Yeah, yeah, we get it, the world’s all shiny,
But will there be any real challenge? Not tiny!
Jumping around, flying through the air,
What’s next, a fish with a funny hair?"
Mumbo (nodding):
"Mumbo not see any big magic yet,
But if it’s fun, Mumbo’s set!
Jumping and flying like Mumbo’s bird,
Mumbo’s feeling good, not a single word!"
Gruntilda (mockingly):
"So far it’s just... jump and glide,
Just another platformer with nothing to hide.
But look at that bat, flying high in the sky,
Is this some new hero or just another guy?"
Bottles (enthusiastically):
"Don’t be so harsh, Grunty, just wait,
There’s more to Macbat 64, this game’s great!
The levels are short but oh so sweet,
Each one’s a little challenge, can't beat that beat!"
Tootie (jumping up):
"I love the music! It’s so fun,
Each track feels like a ray of the sun!
Just listen to those notes, they make me dance,
It’s a game that gives you a chance to prance!"
Kazooie (with a side-eye):
"Oh please, Tootie, don’t get too hyped,
You think a good tune is worth all the type?
Still, I’ll admit, the music’s a joy,
It’s better than that awful Grunty's Toy."
Humba Wumba (standing up and swaying):
"Humba says ‘yes,’ music is the best,
A tune that will make your heart beat in jest!
From city to forest, from caves to skies,
This game’s a feast for the ears and eyes!"
(Macbat finds a mysterious key and heads to the next level.)
Klungo (grinning):
"Yay! Key found, no time to lose,
Let’s go faster, let’s hit those cues!
Not sure what’s next, but let’s explore,
Klungo’s ready for more and more!"
Gruntilda (chuckling darkly):
"Ha, that was easy, don’t you see?
Another key, what a mystery!
If you’re looking for thrills, I’ve got the sauce,
Unlike this bat, who’s just showing off!"
Banjo (chuckling):
"Grunty, Grunty, always so rude,
This game’s got heart, it’s got a good mood.
It’s simple, but fun, a great little ride,
Sometimes you don’t need evil to feel pride!"
Kazooie (with a smirk):
"I’ll admit, it’s not bad, it’s got a charm,
The bat’s flying around, causing no harm.
I may be a bird with sharp claws,
But this game’s got something that gives applause."
Mumbo (scratching his head):
"Yes, Mumbo see, Mumbo can feel,
Macbat 64 is something real!
Mumbo not sure if it’s magic yet,
But fun and flying? Mumbo’s set!"
Bottles (smiling):
"Ah yes, that’s what it’s all about,
A game that makes you want to shout.
Macbat 64, it’s got the zest,
If you like fun, then you’re blessed!"
Tootie (nodding):
"It’s a simple joy, full of heart,
Every level’s a work of art!
I’m so happy we gave it a try,
Look at that bat soar in the sky!"
Gruntilda (grumbling):
"Well, well, it’s fun, but don’t get too smug,
This bat’s no Banjo, he’s just a bug!
But I’ll admit, it’s got some flair,
Maybe it’s worth a quick share."
Klungo (excited):
"That’s right, fun for all, it’s no mistake,
Macbat 64 has what it takes!
Klungo says, ‘give it a try,’
And maybe next time, I’ll be flying high!"
Banjo (grinning, turning to Kazooie):
"Well, that’s it, the review is done,
I think we all had a little fun.
Macbat 64, it’s a simple game,
But it’s got heart—no shame in the name!"
Kazooie (laughing):
"Alright, alright, I’ll give it a nod,
It’s better than that time we fought a god.
It’s a winner in my book, I guess,
For a short romp, it’s truly blessed."
Humba Wumba (dancing around):
"Now the game is over, but don’t feel sad,
There’s more to come, and it’s not too bad!
Humba’s happy, we all agree,
So go play Macbat 64, just like me!"
(Everyone laughs as the screen fades out with Macbat flying across the screen. The game’s credits roll as Banjo, Kazooie, and the rest of the crew wave goodbye.)
Narrator (voiceover, rhyming):
"From Banjo and friends, a review so sweet,
Macbat 64—a game you should greet!
With charm, fun, and secrets galore,
It’s one you’ll play, forever more!"

A Poem for Macbat 64
In the neon glow of an 80s hue,
And blocky lands where the skies are blue,
Macbat soars on wings of lore,
A love letter to the days of yore.
🌟 Nostalgic Whispers 🌟
In every level, a tale unfolds,
Of heroes past, and legends bold.
A temple’s maze, a forest’s plight,
Echoes of Zelda in its light.
Beneath the stars, where pixels gleam,
A cyberpunk level, an 80s dream.
A clock ticks loud, the DeLorean’s call,
Back to the Future — I felt it all.
🎵 Melody in the Breeze 🎵
The music danced, a ghostly tune,
A serenade beneath the moon.
Kirkhope’s voice, a joyful scare,
Grant’s laughter hung upon the air.
Each note a bridge to times gone by,
Of Banjo’s grin and Donkey’s cry.
A symphony born of playful lore,
Unlocking memories, a hidden door.
🌍 Worlds to Wonder 🌍
A puzzle solved, a treasure claimed,
Each level unique, yet none the same.
From racing tracks to shores of gold,
Macbat’s magic refused to grow old.
Its size petite, but grand its heart,
Each pixel crafted, a work of art.
Secrets whispered from the past,
A game like this is made to last.
🚪 The Legacy Lives On 🚪
Siactro’s craft, a beacon bright,
With Kiwi’s flight, they took to the night.
Two siblings bound by playful charm,
A testament to joy’s disarming arm.
And so the ghost, with case now closed,
Rode off into twilight’s rose.
For Macbat’s tale, both bright and pure,
Is a treasure built to long endure.
🌟 A Timeless Play 🌟
Though brief in length, it leaves its mark,
A spark of joy, a glowing arc.
Macbat’s charm, a light so bright,
A game that shines in endless flight. ✨🎮🌌
Delightful game. Don't look up hints until the very end!
Minor thing but achievements would be cool.
Gonna check out the extended Kiwi-verse!
I bought this game after playing through Super Kiwi 64. Upon loading up the game it was apparent how much rougher and unpolished this game looks is in comparison. Admittedly, my first impressions were negative based on the lack of polish. Once I started actually playing and made it through the first level, my impression of the game became quite positive. Though it's a fairly short game, it was a fun and memorable experience playing through it. At $1.99 I have absolutely 0 complaints.
"and special thanks to Grant Kirkhope for voice acting a monkey"
If you're a die-hard 3D platformer lover, this is a cute little adventure. If not, then how did you end up on this game's page to read this review?
It's a swell collect-a-ton homage, runs very well on my low-end computers and is quite replayable in all of it's simplicity!
Much, much, much, much less than what you'd think. The store details oversell it and then you have an army of room temperature IQ individuals in the reviews pretending this is "just like N64 OMG!".
Well you'd think if the point was to be "like N64", then the game would have the capacity to outdo famous trash games of that era like Bubsy 3D or Quest 64? Not even remotely, because this game is nothing.
Don't know if this was done in Unity or Game Maker or what, but it doesn't matter. The point is, you can replicate this in any commercially available game engine within a weekend. This is a 16 year old's first game project and they decided to monetize it. Simple low-poly 3D models, simple low-res textures, simple music, very, very, very simple event scripting for puzzles (collide with puzzle object A to solve puzzle event B) - all packaged into a handful of itty, bitty, tiny levels.
Itch.io has a thousand games with more effort than this.
It's a start
7/10
A pleasant 1h adventure (~12 levels)
Doesnt take too long to finish the main game, But holy crap I love it. Decently good story, so nostalgic for a time I wasnt alive. I absolutely love it, dapper little bat is my hero
Obviously a nostalgia trip intended for people who experienced the Nintendo 64 era. It was surprisingly effective in evoking the feel and innocence of those games and that time. Not that much content in the main game but if you're a millennial that enjoyed the N64 3D platformers then I'd say it's still worth a look.
I SWEAR THIS IS THE WORST GAME I EVER PLAYED
MacBat was a sweet boi....UNTIL HE WASN'T.
Mac bat is a very fun game and worth the price that it was when I bought it and what it is now. If you want a fun way to spend an hour or two then this game could be for you. The character designs are great especially Mac and the Captain. The boss was alright and I love the special stages; the reward you get when you get all the kiwi statues to check out Easter eggs was fun.
