In A Hat in Time you play as a tiny space-travelling girl with a big tophat. Her adventure is halted when all her fuel, the Time Pieces, is lost and scattered across a nearby planet. Hat Kid must now jump, fight and stitch new hats to make her way into every nook and cranny of this new world in order to restore her fuel and resume her journey. On her way, she'll bump into the menacing Mafia of Cooks, the goofy birds of Dead Bird Studio, the spooky shadows of Subcon Forest, and more!Murder on a train! Parades! Trespassing in a movie studio?
Every mission in A Hat in Time is unique! At one moment you'll be solving the Murder on the Owl Express by finding clues and interrogating the locals, the next moment you'll be the band marshal in The Big Parade, or sneaking through the bird-run Dead Bird Studio!

An absolutely lovingly crafted platformer adventure. I did have a few moments where I felt that the camera fought me, but that is the only negative thing that I can say about this game. Truly wonderful if you've ever had any fun in a 3D Mario game. 10/10
Good game, made awfully just dogshit on the finer points but casual enough that those flawas are fine.
A fantastic love letter to 3D platformers and with modding, this game will have a easy time with staying alive. This game is very enjoyable, even without mods. Hats off to the devs for making a timeless masterpiece.

This game is fantastic! The main character, Hat Kid, is an adorable protagonist who doesn’t speak but is incredibly charismatic, and you quickly grow attached to her. There’s a great variety of settings, like "Mafia Town," "Subcon Forest," and more. The main goal of the game is to recover the Time Pieces scattered across the world. By playing more linearly, you can finish the game fairly quickly. I had a lot of fun going for 100%, which didn’t take too much time either.
The game mechanics are similar to Mario 64, with smooth and responsive controls that make exploring and completing objectives feel satisfying. Each level introduces creative challenges, whether it's solving puzzles, defeating quirky bosses, or navigating platforming sections. Additionally, the hat system adds a layer of strategy, as each hat grants unique abilities that are both fun and essential to progression. The blend of nostalgia and fresh ideas makes every moment feel special, ensuring the game stays engaging from start to finish.

VERY good voice acting and music platforming and game play is fun, online is fun and helps with replayability along with mods the game has a mod section built in and dlc makes the game even better with good levels and story behind them.
I knew this game might be interesting initially and surprisingly it's a really fun and entertaining game honestly, I haven't finished it yet but it has decent length to it as well as workshop mods that are well made so it's worth checking out especially if it's on sale.
Peak game, really fun, tons of mods so you can keep having fun, the graphics are also beautiful
If you don't know anything about this game, like not even watching clips of it's on social media completely new game to you and you want to play a game that is really cool and fun story at same time having a challenging gameplay, this game is definitely the one you're looking for. Really a great game.

A Hat in Time is a fun, polished platforming experience! Like - Really polished!
- Excellent Gameplay: The platforming is really satisfying. Controls pretty well, and there's an interesting gimmick in the hats, aswell as many unique platforming elements. Some of my favourite levels are Alpine Skyline's Windmill, Murder on the Owl Express, The Toilet of Doom, Queen Vanessa's Mansion and The End!
- Mods!: The game has community content! If you're into that sorta thing, it's something to look forward to after beating the main game.
- Fun Characters: Funny characters with great voice acting / dialogue! One of my favourites is The Conductor, and The Snatcher!
- Great Music!!: The music in this game is probably my favourite thing about this game, honestly, and there's alternative tracks for a decent chunk of the songs too!
What i will say though, is the main thing holding this game back is main story. The main focus really probably is the gameplay, and that's fair enough, but don't go in expecting something that goes really in depth. It has its' moments, like in some pivotal parts and the final act, however.
When i first played this game, i went in expecting this game to be the best game ever. But this game doesn't owe me that, and that's okay. Writing this review helps me realise that a bit better, and while this game definitely isn't perfect, it's still fun!
Go in expecting comedy, and you'll love it! The game ABSOLUTELY delivers on that part. And there are some funky lore bits too, if you really want to squeeze every last ounce of lore. I just beat the game's main ending, so i've still got many things to do!

Such a Wonderful Experience with A Hat In Time, world is colorful, cute, and Fun to explore (Especially on Alpine Skyline).
A fun little game that brings back memories of other similar games. Although it's DLC's are more hit and miss. Still it's self-aware tone makes it very enjoyable.
i bought and beat this game in one day. tons of fun, i reccomend waiting for a sale but its a game with a suprising amount of collectable content.

This games story is really fun and innovative despite being a 7 year old game. The price tag for the game isn't really worth it unless you get the DLC with it, and even then to get the most out of your money you feel you have to 100% because of how good the main story and DLC were, This is possibly the biggest mistake I have ever done, taking what was a 10 hour playthrough to get all hats, timepieces, and costumes, to a 50 hour hell because of the "I Refuse To Die!" achievement and the "The community Thanks You" achievement. fun game :)

This was such a good vibes experience! It so whimsical and funny.
This game is a 3D platformer that takes a lot of inspiration from Super Mario 64.
So if you are into that kind of gameplay this is a no brainer.
It is not a difficult game overall, it's very forgiving and the controls feel good while controlling your character.
The artstyle is very bright and colorful and goes along with a very fun soundtrack that fits perfectly with the vibe of the game. This is not one of those games with a deep and convoluted story that will make you reflect on your existence for days. It's a simple load up and have fun kind of game.
If you are into the kind of "don't take yourself too seriouly game" coupled with some forgiving 3D platforming this is most likely a game you will enjoy.

This game made me literally obsessed. Played it first when i was 6, got stuck in subcon at the toilet, then restarted later in my life. I have now been dedicated too 100% this game (currently at 91%)
Despite some issues, this is such a cozy and entertaining game to play. Mod support has extended the life of this game far beyond it's original release date.

Unfortunately after beating it the fun goes away because death wishes are fun for like the first 2 levels maybe if even and then they just flat out suck entirely. Some mods are good.

I absolutely love this game. Super fun, cozy and cute experience. Had quite a lot of good memories playing this game as a kid and discussing it with friends! It's a fun and charming experience whether you are an adult or a child.
The movement in this game feels super fun, the music is absolutely amazing, the locations are absolutely beautiful ,the gameplay is fun , and the characters and humor are silly(in a very good way) and charming. I highly recommend it!

Great platform game. Lots of stuff to do, a ton of collectibles, fun movement mechanics, awesome design and gameplay... the only thing I can complain about is the camera, very janky, but it's a very good game
A Hat in Time is one of the most enjoyable 3D platformers I have played in recent memory. It has great movement, great characters, great level design, and a great soundtrack. Plus, the game has a massive modding community which is always a plus. A Hat in Time is a joy from start to finish, and I can see myself coming back to it for many years to come!
This game is so fun whether you're an adult or a child. I have bought the 2 main dlc's as well and they are definitely worth it as well. the game is not only fun but has a ton of comedy and different styled levels to play especially if you get the Seal the Deal DLC with Snatcher's death wish levels which are certainly challenging and super fun to try with prized badges and outfits for your favorite hat powers for hat kid!
I also have this game on PlayStation. Player movement is great and the whimsical setting and characters are funny. If you are interested in collect-a-thon 3D platformers like Banjo-Kazooie or Mario, definitely consider playing this game.

I've had this game for years now and it's still just as fun whenever I go back and play it. It's got great characters, great visuals, great gameplay, and a great soundtrack. It's really got everything! Definitely recommend it.

Bought this game to play on Steam Deck. It does not work. Unfortunately this happened AFTER I purchased the game and played for a while.
- At first the game would lag every five seconds, making entire levels unplayable because you could not time your jumps
- They "fixed" the lag problem... well maybe they did, who knows, the game no longer launches for anyone using Steam Deck
It's frustrating that such a celebrated game is unplayable for quite a few people.
A Mario 3D game without Mario - simply great. Sadly it hasn't aged that well, but the community keeps pumping out content so it doesn't get too stale in the end. 100% Recommend

A Hat In Time is the BEST platformer I've ever played. I love the style, the characters, the story. The controls are easy to learn and very fun. Overall, 12/10 game!
I had a lot of fun playing through A Hat in Time. Coming from other platformers, the game controls well and has a high skill ceiling for those willing to look into movement tech. The DLCs were both fun to work through and the Death Wish missions were properly difficult without seeming impossible.

- Most user interface designs don't fit well together
- I didn’t like the flat textures/materials that much
- Many effects also don't always match each other

fine 3D platformer IMO, camera sucks a bit from time to time, but thats expected
most levels are fun (fat bird levels can fuck off, chapter 4 finale was boring)
story is honestly whatever/ending is weird and unfitting considering everything that happened up to that point?
probably worth a shot when on sale, if you are into 3D platformers, which isn't really my thing tbh
