This game is really fun when I can actually play it. Stability issues are abundant. A few days ago, the game would stutter every 3-5 seconds. Now, it crashes ever 5 or so minutes.
Extremely fun game (even better than mario odyssey imo) but dlc and mods wont load as well as save data will reset hopefully someone can help?(im on steam deck to be specific)

Basically, think Mario Odyssey, but all the different hats do different things, and also it's very goofy and cute

A Hat in Time is a bright, colourful, and creative adventure through various fantastical worlds. From a mafia-infested coastal town to a high-end movie studio run entirely by birds to a haunted forest, this game has it all. Although some parts, such as the story, are weak, the game play and visuals more than make up for it. You can equip badges that give you wacky abilities, wear hats that let you sprint, throw explosive potions, and even stop time! This game also has great workshop support, the amount of cool stuff I've found in there is crazy! I highly recommend this game! With a fair price and plenty of content this game is a must play for any fan of platformers!
At first during the mafia town part of this game (the beginning) I was unsure how I truly felt when running around the game it felt super aimless to me but once I gave it a second chance and progressed forward into collecting a bunch of relics, exploring other places and truly enjoying Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 it made me keep coming back for more to see what else there was even with the time rifts they were difficult as frick but felt very accomplishing once completed ! For someone wanting to enjoy a fun game with challenge and story thrown in would definitely recommend this! Also The hats are fun too to goof with.
its alright, the base game reminded me of Super Mario Galaxy. It was fun. The DLCs were okay but a little pricey so buy at own risk. The death wishs and the metro dlc were fun tho
Fun platformer. Base game isn't too difficult, has a fun world with lots of detail, funny character interactions, and plenty of collectibles.
If you want additional challenge, the Steam workshop provides plenty of opportunity for more difficult platforming challenges that can be frustrating at times, but these are optional, player created levels, so that's alright.
All in all, a great deal for an indie platformer, and can't wait to see what the studio does next!

The most charming game ever made, and very fun too. A little buggy, especially in two player mode, but it's just so fun and cute that it really doesn't matter.

Couldn't seem to get it to work on steam deck for some reason, and really didn't like the camera. Other than that though this game was sweet, really cute, fun, and brief platformer. The death-wish dlc seems to add a lot of playtime but most of it seemed to be challenges of old levels which unfortunately didn't interest me that much.
This is game is the perfect mix of frustration and fun. The funny characters with an actual interesting plot make this game amazing.
Its one of those games that is great for people who like a lot of freedom in their gaming. Personally, I like a lot of direction. I never really knew what I was supposed to be doing. However, the game is beautiful. The camera is garbage and the controls are hit or miss, but overall, its a pretty solid platformer.

Love this game! I bought and only play this game local co-op with my partner, and I am super happy with my purchase.
You can wander off and the split screen works very well, or you can stay together, and of course meet up randomly later on in the level because they're way more complex than you'd think.
They definitely make a plat on cuteness in this game but it's not by any means over the top. There's still plenty of more serious bits like MuuRrrDDeeRR!???
Cameras could be a little better but overall the controls feel pretty good. My partner, which is not a platformer by any means, is able to have fun without constantly falling to their doom.
The difficulty isn't too tough but not super easy it. It's a good in-between for casual play.
100% recommend.

One of the best 3D platformers of all time. Movement is perfect, levels are great, and the game itself is bursting with character. While the main game is fairly short, DLC and mods add so much content and make it endlessly replayable. Easily one of my favorite games of all time.
I'm just passing by the store page and it reminded me to write a review:
+ It's pretty good
+ Feels like the good old platformers, nice controls
+ The movement tech allows for pretty great skill ceiling, the speedruns of this game are insane.
- It can be way too braindead easy if you have a basic understanding of depth perception and basic motor skills,
+ So the devs made a DLC where you replay the whole game with special conditions and it is ridiculously hard.
+ One of the best soundtracks in video games, I bought it and listen to some tracks frequently, honestly the Snatcher's Your Contract has Expired track gives chills and goosebumps, so hype.
+ The lobby system is the most fun, passive co-op, I ever seen. Wish more games had similar systems.

Original: It was working fine years ago. Now I tried to run it again and got a heavy stutter/freeze every 2 seconds. Unplayable.
I was really looking forward to playing this since I've heard lots of praise. but I can't get rid of the massive frame drop issues the game has, I've tried everything: verified file integrity, put settings to minimum, tried the game on 2 diff devices: steam deck and pc (my pc is in no way low end), enabled the custom GPU clock (on steam deck), I even manually set bInitializeShadersOnDemand to true in the games engine files. nothing helped and the game remained unplayable with frame drops that completely froze up the game for 0.5sec or even 1 whole second whenever I move the character. The strangest part is that I found barely any one else with this problem, so its not really even certain what is causing the issue or if there even is a fix.

This game is shown to be Steamdeck verified, but isn’t true. Running vanilla version of the game and it lags hard for 1 sec every 5 seconds non-stop. Game isn’t playable.
This game is absolutely adorable, and a lot of fun. Better than any of the other platforms that have been a thing in recent memories. Well worth your money!
One of the games that makes me love the Platformer genre for video games. A Hat in Time is so good with platforming tricks and also community content. I really recommend playing this, please!
AHIT is one of my favorite games of all time, and I would 100% recommend it. It's filled to the brim with so much personality and charm, and very much has that sort of weird and nonsensical style you get from a lot of indie games nowadays. The main character is a little girl from space who uses hourglasses with god-level time travel abilities to power her spaceship, the first world in the game is a town populated solely by the literal Mafia, and Hat Kid ends up contractually forcing a demon to be her BFF even though he stole her soul. It's just a bunch of cartoony silliness, and I love it.
The gameplay is really fun as well. The platforming feels very satisfying to pull off, and Hat Kid's bouncy animations provide great feedback for your inputs. The central mechanic of the hats giving you different powers is more of the backbone of the game than a gimmick, which ends up working out in its favor because the stages all having different types of gameplay experiences to offer is way more fun than if they had just centered all of them around different hat abilities. It keeps the player on their toes and prevents things from getting dull, which is very important for a game to do.
I don't have anything super smart to say about the soundtrack because I'm not very knowledgeable on music, but I think it's really good. The boss tracks are absolute bangers, especially Snatcher's boss theme, "Your Contract Has Expired", and the soundtrack is fairly popular among YouTubers as background music for their videos, which is how you know a game OST is good. The theme for the windmill feels like it was crafted in a lab to perfectly replicate the feeling of a windmill in the form of music, and the original time rift theme feels like it was crafted in a lab to make anyone cry.
I only have a couple gripes with AHIT, the first one being how it can be pretty buggy and laggy on PC. I have the Nintendo Switch version as well, and I've noticed that the loading screens are longer on there but the levels themselves are hardly ever laggy, whereas on PC it doesn't take as long to load but certain levels can be pretty laggy. So I would recommend getting the Nintendo Switch version if you don't mind missing out on mods, online party and vanessa's curse DLC, because it seems like it's more well optimized than the PC version.
The other gripe I have is the ending. This is the kind of game that's more heavy on gameplay and fun silly shenanigans rather than a deep story so I didn't expect much, but the ending seems to act as if the game had a more complex story than it actually did. It ends up feeling like you skipped an hour or two of story because all the characters, most of which have been antagonists throughout the entire game, suddenly start talking as if they've gone through a whole redemption arc and are best buds with Hat Kid now. That being said, I don't think it's meant to be taken that seriously, but I would've liked a little more leading up to the ending.
In conclusion, silly hat game good and full of joy and whimsy. Would definitely recommend, and you should definitely get the DLC. It's just as good if not better than the base game, and you also get a more difficult "gamemode" in the form of snatcher's contracts if you wanna challenge yourself.
Honestly like this game more on my 2nd playthrough. Brilliant but simple gameplay and positively charming. Workshop content is fantastic too, a particular shoutout to the Fludd mod that feels like a natural extension to Hat Kid.
Always a game you can come back to for a little fun, either by yourself in the vanilla game, or with friends in mods. Couldn't recommend a more fun 3D-platformer than this game.
While its simple in nature, the game does do a lot that you wouldn't expect. especially in its DLC. Does it look childish? yes. Does it also have talking "rope used to un-alive yourself?" also yes. If you are a 3D platformer enjoyer then give this game a shot. When your done, there is a whole workshop with years worth of mods that you can mess with basically turning this fun unassuming little platformer into a chaotic sandbox game.
One of the best 3D platformers out there. The soundtrack is phenomenal and Hat Kid is the most dangerous person in the universe. Highly reccomend playing it for a fun game that you can chill out and play
god i love this game. Such a fun and exciting 3D platformer. Smooth controls. Hillarious dialogue. Endlessly charming characters and visuals. Not too difficult but still manages to feel exciting.

not normally a fan of 3d platformers but this game is so charming and the controls are really responsive!
Erm its sehr silly!! I remember watching my favorite youtubers play this game and being so jealous. Im glad i finally got the chance to play it for myself, the game can be quite challenging at times but thats good since im being challenged at my skills!
ive heard of the game before but knew nothing about it and managed to avoid anything about the game ever since its release, aside from a couple characters (conductor <3). it is actually just peak gaming, so charming and amazing levels. all the characters are amazing and its just a fun time
8/10. I love the atmosphere, art style and characters. fluid movement and rewarding levels with a lot of diverse areas and settings. however, the story, while entertaining is very inconsistent. and doesn't really like to stick in the same spot for long, beyond the baseline of finding the macguffins.
this is the best game I have ever played it's just so fun to go for 100%, and just to run around. also, music in the game is top tier chill. also the game is just cute, and Creative with it's characters, and outfits. lastly the mods in the game are great with loads, and og ideas.

I've heard someone say this feels like Mario Odyssey 2... which is weird, since this came out first, but sure. this is a cute collection-based platformer with satisfying movement and fun special powers to unlock.
if you grew up on those collectathon games on the N64, this is going to scratch that itch you've had for two decades. If you haven't already bought this game in the seven years it's been out, buy it now. it'll hold up.

FUN. it gave me a lot of positive and hopeful vibes everytime I just open it after a few day of not playing. something that most of the AAA and non AAA games don't have it.

Super cute platformer that I will definitely keep coming back to. Only issue I had with it was the camera not being great.
Hat Kid is so fun and fluid to control and all the other characters are just as great, and the music is also really good too.
The levels are put together so well too and are super fun. My favorites were Act 2 and the Nyakuza Metro.
This game is SO hilarious! I just love how the voice acting is frequently over-the-top and how many of the challenges have over-the-top effects that make them seem more challenging than they are. The game DOES have actual challenges though, I'm just saying that with all those exaggerated effects it's hard to take them seriously. XD
The story just loves to throw all kinds of random stuff in your face without a single care for realism, consistency, continuity, or even basic physics (just watch the intro to see how outer space works).
The platforming is super fun as well: Hat Kid can do so many additional jumps in mid-air that she can make it quite a lot farther than you'd expect (and sometimes you absolutely have to do it), balancing on tiny ropes is child's play for her, even at crazy heights, and the game is super forgiving when you "die", i.e. you basically just lose 1 life-point each time, and if you hit 0 you only have to restart at a checkpoint that's a bit further back and with all enemies (and money and hearts) restored. You can clearly feel that this game doesn't want you to get frustrated with super hard platforming and that you should have nerves left to enjoy the beautiful world-building (both scenery and story) instead.
This is probably one of the best platformers i've played, it has loveable characters, good plot, amazing music and fun boss battles. The only thing in this game that doesn't get a 10/10 for me on all fronts is probably the alpine plains with all the goats. its very cinematic but lacks on the character front and in playability. Everything else is a solid 10/10.
After doing a 100% completion of this game, I feel like I can finally give an honest review of it. I f****ng love it so much. It's likely my favorite game of all time. EVERYTHING works so well here, I genuinely can't think of something to complain about, maybe except for some minor performance issues which shouldn't happen considering I have a decent PC. The best part of the game in my opinion, is the OST. It's insane how there are no bad, or even average tracks, only good and above ones. The story is rather short, but it's the only downside to it. The graphics are simple but very pleasant to look at. And obviously, there's also movement, which needs to be smooth since it's a platformer game. Thankfully, the game does not disappiont here either, and it's fun to play both on a controller and a keyboard (I tested both). The fluid movement is crucial for the insanely hard Death Wish levels, which are somehow very fun to play (except for "Breaching The Contract" and "Rift Collapse: Deep Sea", those suck). All of the characters are written very well, with Snatcher being one of the most memorable antagonists ever lmao. Overall, I absolutely adore this game, and I recommend it to pretty much everyone. If you like platformer games, you will like this. Even those who are looking for a challenge will like this seemingly casual game, thanks to the Death Wish levels (My favorites are "No More Bad Guys" and "Wound-Up Windmill"). I love this game so much I even made a video review of this game for a university project (we were tasked with doing a review of something, so I chose my favorite game :D). I plan on remaking that review because it's not great and it doesn't include DLC content. Is it a waste of time? Yes. Do I want to do it? Absolutely.
And remember, if someone ever asks you, what kind of condiment you like on your tuna sandwiches, the correct answer is always: PECK-

it captured my heart enough for me to buy it again and gift it to my partner just so we could have this beautiful experience together
Refreshing to play a games which has Mario and Banjo vibes! Can't recommend enough.
