A Hat in Time is a cute-as-heck 3D platformer featuring a little girl who stitches hats for wicked powers.
A little girl and her spaceship
In A Hat in Time you play as a tiny space-travelling girl with a big tophat. Her adventure is halted when all her fuel, the Time Pieces, is lost and scattered across a nearby planet. Hat Kid must now jump, fight and stitch new hats to make her way into every nook and cranny of this new world in order to restore her fuel and resume her journey. On her way, she'll bump into the menacing Mafia of Cooks, the goofy birds of Dead Bird Studio, the spooky shadows of Subcon Forest, and more!Murder on a train! Parades! Trespassing in a movie studio?
Every mission in A Hat in Time is unique! At one moment you'll be solving the Murder on the Owl Express by finding clues and interrogating the locals, the next moment you'll be the band marshal in The Big Parade, or sneaking through the bird-run Dead Bird Studio!
Small child, giant worlds
Jump freely around in 5 massive worlds with new adventures to discover around every corner! Just like any child, Hat Kid loves to climb and explore, no mountain is too big for her sense of adventure. She can do multiple jump moves, as well as climb walls, and swing over gaps!Cute hats, magical yarn and snappy badges
By finding and collecting rare magical yarn, Hat Kid can stitch new cute hats with a variety of abilities, including a witch hat that allows her to cook explosive concoctions, and a wooden ghost mask that allows her to peek into other dimensions. Hats can become even more powerful, by attaching badges that are found, sold and traded by the locals!Community-funded, community-focused
A Hat in Time was successfully funded on Kickstarter, reaching nearly 10 times its goal! In order to celebrate our community, A Hat in Time is releasing with full modding and Steam Workshop support, an in-game screenshot mode, and more!Поддерживаемые языки: english, german, korean, french, simplified chinese, traditional chinese, italian, japanese, portuguese - portugal, portuguese - brazil, spanish - latin america

This game is incredible amazing its perfect in nearly every way possible the music is good the all of the bosses are fun interesting and have something to set them apart with plot twists and fun platforming.
really excellent game that i cannot believe i didn't check out sooner! a super-cute, super-slick 3D platformer with great movement, a unique and charming story, and very memorable characters. chapter 2 is especially a highlight! i love how all-out goofy the missions are, and how (with the exception of chapter 4, by far the weakest world) all of the gameplay, no matter how weird, always feels like it's in service of some specific in-universe goal or story beat, a great motivating factor that i feel like i don't often see done to this degree in other platformers. and i can't not mention the soundtrack - despite only just now playing the actual game, i've been listening to the OST for years. just a wonderful game all around. now, i'm off to play the DLCs!
absolutely peak game, every single peck neck needs to play this awesome platformer
Came back to it 7 years later. This game has tons and tons of amazing workshop content that’s still being pumped out today. If you purchase this game, after completing the main story I highly recommend diving into the workshop
I rarely play platformers as for the most part they just don't appeal to me, but I decided to give this one a chance and I'm glad that I did! A Hat in Time is a super enjoyable platformer that is incredibly charming and light-hearted (aside from a particular level). The creativity and style of some of the levels really keeps the experience fresh and leads to multiple memorable moments within it's relatively short playtime. The music is enjoyable. The characters are cute. It's overall an adorable little game with enough diversity to make you want to complete every piece of it. The platforming and use of the different hats is also very well done! I found myself excited to see what they would throw at me next. I had minor frustrations with some sections though, but they never overstood their welcome to the point where it tarnished my overall experience. It's also Co-op! Even though I didn't get to try it out, I am sure it would make a great game to play with a friend. (Going for all the achievements made me nearly lose my sanity though because of a few very specific things I needed to do. Though it could be lack of skill on my part.)
Great game! I enjoyed it alot. It was a great experience, even whet it had some frustrating moments (Seal the deal: death wish), but it was supposed to be hard. Great music and like they said, it is indeed a "cute as heck" adventure.
Quite charming and memorable indeed.
If you want both a good time, fun, but also a challange, then this game could be for you.
i've bought this game twice on two different consoles(/pc) and have not regretted it a single day. this game is lovely, the platforming is super fun and satisfying to handle, and also my life has not been the same (in a positive way) since learning that xander mobus, the voice of mr joker persona 5, is also the voice of the conductor.
W game, sound track is fire. The game isn't afraid to show a darker tone, even though its whole things is to be "cute as heck" and I'm okay with that. The game is underrated and deserves more love, even though sometimes it feels like the game is rushing you around a lot. Train rush is still standing at one of my favorite levels ever in gaming. It also has a ton of stuff you can do post game, I still think its funny that alpine skyline is completely optional. The DLC is great as well, having tons of extra content, and seal the deal can be frustrating and challenging. My only complaint is the fact that some of the steam badges you need to get are really annoying. Unless your god level of platforming then you won't get most of these first try. In conclusion, W game, cute as heck.
I enjoyed this game a lot. Some really fun missions, with a really cute style. The camera isn't... good, but it's still a fun game that I'll most likely come back to so I can collect as many time pieces as I can. 8/10. Maybe even a 9.
the soundtrack in this game is sooooo good also the story and game play is really good
Its a fun 3d platformer game with fluid movement. Honestly way more fun than I thought i'd have.
It is a pretty fun platform game with some well designed levels.
I played this game mostly flawlessly back when it originally came out, followed by the DLCs. Loved it.
I cannot say the same for attempting to replay it. I genuinely have no idea what the hell happened to the technical side of the house since I played it all the way back in 2017/2018, but the only word to describe it is "compromised". I'm three time pieces into the new playthrough, and in that time the game has either failed to launch, launched but over the course of five business days, dropped controller settings after launching, played flawlessly for all of 15 minutes before repeatedly freezing for 2 - 3 minutes at a time, or just outright crashed to desktop with no error message.
This isn't a specs issue by any means, either. I'm running an i9-13900k paired with a 4080. Plenty of RAM to spare, too. There were definitely some hiccups on it back in 2017, on my old 1070 and i7, but it never just outright fought me like it has this time around on much stronger hardware.
Because of how egregious these technical issues have become over the years, and the lack of interest in fixing them, I can't recommend this game no matter how much I enjoyed it back in the day. If you still want to play it, go play one of the console versions. You lose out on mods, but it's a moot point since the PC version simply won't run long and stable enough to enjoy the mods.
If you can manage to get this game to work, good game, if not, practically a waste of money.
Perhaps one of the most charming games to come out in a decade, A Hat In Time is a 3D platformer/collector that feels like so much more than just a throwback to the genre that dominated the N64 and PSX era. It's nostalgic and respectful to its heritage, sure, but it also pumps a lot of fresh blood into the genre that gives it a unique flair and sense of identity. Not to mention, it's cute as all heck!
Borrowing from the likes of Super Mario Sunshine and Banjo-Kazooie, the game's main bread and butter has you running around completing challenges and objectives in search of Time Pieces, which unlock more story and more maps. Where it diverges from the classics is its commitment to letting you explore at your own pace, giving you the tools to either speedrun through objectives at top speed or to mess around and see what crazy nooks and crannies you can parkour your way into, and even rewarding you for doing so. The game's worlds are also very tactile, giving you lots of fun interactables for added comedy and pizzazz.
The game is well balanced in terms of difficulty, as its something you could easily get a kid (or kid at heart) hooked on, but not so easy that they'd get bored after a few hours. And if difficulty is your pleasure, there's an entire DLC dedicated to brutally punishing challenges you can subject yourself to on top of that! And even further beyond the challenge factor and the frequent switch-ups in gameplay (you'll be doing everything from death-defying platforming to tactical stealth to scooter racing to photo editing to survival horror and back again), there's a thriving fan community dedicated to providing interesting custom levels and cosmetics, as the game strongly encourages modding. The replayability is simply endless!
Lastly, I don't like pitting bad bitches against each other, but the thing separating A Hat In Time from other 3D platformer revival type games (Yooka-Laylee, for example) is that A Hat In Time didn't try to just REPLICATE the games of the past. Rather, it LEARNED from them and sought to make something new out of their best elements. That's why it feels so fresh despite being a clear homage to a genre that otherwise fell out of fashion oh so many years ago.
Bottom line? If it sounds like something you'd be interested in playing, absolutely 100% play it. It's AMAZING from start to finish.
Play this game now, it is probably the best most charming 3D platformer I've ever played. truly something special.
Good plateformer with mario vibe. Good jump and power-up mechanic and fun boss fight.
a fun game to play with or without friends, and also fills that nostalgic itch of playing crash bandicoot on the ps2 extremely well. highly recommend for anyone wanting a similar experience.
One of the best games I have ever played in my entire life. If it is not in your steam library you either hate having fun or are dead.
Best 3D platformer, I love every single chapter and most acts. I don't like the limited perspective though, so I can't freely look up to find the path.
best game i have ever played bc of the mods..... And the game of course but the real game is the best
I'm 28 as of this review, I play tactical shooters, horde shooters, and go to metal concerts all the time, and can honestly say that after a full play through that this is one of the best games I've ever played. I would never have guessed that some of the most fun I have ever had in a video game would be on a game for kids.
I've beaten the final boss, but not played all the levels but I gotta say. This is a very sound 3D platformer with some awesome and hilarious characters. The music is beautiful. There is a little bit of jank here and there but nothing game breaking. I highly recommend this gem. :)
Platforming has never been as fun as this. The intro just immediately caught my attention in my first playthrough, it definitely kept me hooked. The world and characters are very charming and bright, the game in general is just fun to navigate around with. The way each obtainable hat offers ways to traverse the stages differently every time you visit them is honestly makes for a pretty fun exploring experience. I definitely recommend this for the casual platformer enthusiasts.
And if the WHOLE GAME still doesn't quench your thirst to jump and collect as a little alien being, you can find more levels and accessory mods in the workshop.
peck
this game is great. play it. no questions.
No- Talk about actual fun.
Screw egging the principle's house, Screwing cow-tipping, Screw Screwing.
THIS was genuine fun, I've never been huge on platformers/"bright" games in general,
My tone of game was always something story-based, nitty-gritty or something shooting-related- so finding a different genre of game that actually made me giggle was amazing.
I fully recommend this, and there's nothing I could say that hasn't already been said.
Why are you still reading this? GO PLAY IT. (By any means neccesary)
This is a fun game if you play mario 64 this will feel right up your aillyand the workship is pretty funny and cool [EGGWALKER GO BRRRRRRRRRR]
The game is really great but I had to refund it.
I can play cyberpunk 2077 and many more very demanding games on my system and never had an issue like this.
Somewhere somehow there's incompatibility for this game that causes my GPU to fall of the bus and essentially my whole display crashes to the point that I have to force reboot because I can't do anything else with the PC. Checked my system logs and there's nothing I can do about this from my side, the game just doesn't work for me.
I also have to say that I don't appreciate the DLC adds in the main menu but I truly hate the splash screens for DLC adds that prevent my gaming session entirely until I wait till it shows the animation and press skip. Not cool, if I wanted the DLC I would have bought it directly on the platform I got the game from.
This game makes me feel like a kid again, man.. the amount of content that's packed into this game is insane. 3 DLCs, one of which is Seal the Deal. The act that comes with it is really great but they also give you an entire mode that's extremely difficult, only for the die hard fans who want a challenge, which gives it the most worth out of the 3. That's not to discourage the other DLCs though, as they're also good in their own ways. Vanessa's Curse, while I haven't played much of it, has a lot of replayability, seeing as it's a multiplayer based mode and also brings new cosmetics to the game. I think it's worth buying assuming you're fine with randoms or have a friend that you can play with. Moving on to Nyakuza Metro, it's a bite-sized dlc that's offers a lot for how short it is, it brings new cosmetics, badges, added stickers to the game, new mechanics and if you're buying it on PC it comes with Online, so you can play with other people! Moving on from DLCs though, the modding scene is amazing. There are geniunely so many good custom levels or mods that have quality of life improvements, some levels are great enough to justify the price of the game ALONE, so pair that with everything else the game gives you? Yeah, i'd say that's a good deal. Last thing I wanna touch on is how the characters, story and music are all amazing, Pascal Micheal Stiefel really killed it with all the songs he produced for this soundtrack, ESPECIALLY the boss themes, they're amazing. I geniunely have so much love for this game and i'm looking forward to Gears for Breakfast's next title.
If it ever goes on sale and 3D platforming is your style, I cannot recommend this game enough.
Just a fun time all around! The worlds are unique and the movement feels great to play around with! My only bit of feedback is World 3 isn't fully utilized and lacks a lot of level-variety.
This game isn't story-heavy so if you're looking for a game with story this might not be your cup of tea, but everything else a video game can contain is present in this one.
Highly recommended. Plays like a classic PS2 era platformer with good mechanics and gameplay. There's a hub world with about 6 levels you can visit, each with about 6 missions to collect the missing time pieces. The gameplay gets really difficult and the cutesy theme doesn't get annoying; it's just charming and fun. the soundtrack is phenomenal. i'd recommend the DLC as well, the seal the deal and the Nyakuza Metro each add an additional level to with a bunch of time piece missions. The Metro is a particularly perfect DLC expansion. Challenging gameplay with a new exploration mechanic (subway tickets) rather than the plot based levels of the base game. I wish there were more DLCs, but there's also user made content and mods with tons of extra levels and challenges. Get it on steam sale, and play with a controller. There's also split screen co-op and a cool online mechanic where you see other people playing but you can only wave and emote. Lots of stuff to collect throughout the levels and lots of end game content, i'll be playing this for a while, i just love the game.
Very well done platforming and entertaining characters with each act having its own way I could see someone justifying it as their favorite.
A perfect and cute game, i love how fun it is and is by far my favourite platformer of all time
After fully completing the game, both DLC's, and getting all death wish stamps without EZ mode, i have to say, the game is really fun. I do understand some peoples complaints about death wish difficulty and jank, but it wasn't prevalent enough to really make that big of a difference. the base game is amazing, the DLC's are fun(minus cruisin for a bruisin) and the humor is well made. easy 9/10 game.
silly fun fun game, with nice platforming and great cartoon aspects (conductor is better fight me)
best platformer ever, completed it 100% on nintendo but went to steam becouse of all the amounts of extra content on the steam version. much more fun with mods or custom levels from others, it was worht it to play it all over again :D
Death Wish has some of the worst, most bullshit boss fights in gaming history. Who on the dev team thought these visual clusterfucks were a good idea? The controls aren't tight enough for this kind of thing. When you make a PLATFORMER, it should be about PLATFORMING, not this unplayable garbage.
I can beat every level in Celeste and every boss in Nine Sols, and Snatcher EX is harder than both of those. That's just... wrong. Why would you do something like this?
This Is by far one of my favorite games to have ever played. Its cute, Funny, and has a lot of depth to its mechanics. I really hope we get a Sequel soon! Hat Kid needs to return!
Originally owned said game in 2019, alongside a friend of mine who gifted it to me, along with the online party dlc, I'll be honest to ya..
This game is just pure peak. That's all :D
Great fun and cute game unfortunately I am unable to start the game but it was fun while I could play it
Very cute and charming game. Sense of humour and creativity reminds me of LittleBigPlanet.
My main issue is that in level design, some of the level's gimmicks are very poorly implemented. I beat Queen Vanessa's Manor almost by accident, for example. That said, most of the game feels very good, and has a lot of personality.
7/10
an overall fun collectathon adventure with a good cast of characters that give life to the world!
Glory to snatcher <3
Great game, each area feels unique and there is Death wishes (optional side content that comes with the DLC) for those seeking a very difficult challenge.
Cute game, wish I could've gotten more out of it, but it was fun nevertheless.
Shares a lot of gameplay feeling as Super Mario
Played this game on Switch a few years ago and it's just as fun as I remember except now I have access to way more stuff (mods, online multiplayer, etc.). Would highly recommend to anyone who loves 3D platformers.
Charming platformer game. I loved the levels and the gameplay. Pretty visuals too.
Also fuck that one horror level its too fucking scary wtf is that shit I wanted a cute game not a scary one.
One of the best platform game that I ever played, the musics are fun and chill sometimes. The movements of this game is better then Super Mario 64. Masterpiece.
This is my first review on Steam ever so I apologize if it's not of satisfaction but I would just like to tell a small story about how much this game means to me.
I've always had a hard time putting me in new situations(autism) and that includes games. I currently have over 1000 games in my library spead across multiple platforms, most of them unplayed thinking that someday I will play it and right now A hat in time is the game that made me want to break out of my shell and really try to play a game on my own accord.
It's funny, lighthearted, easy to understand, very cartoonish, the hats are pretty cool and that's what I love about this game. There's no pressure at all to do anything. I spent the first hour just jumping around on the first level just discovering everything and feeling the game out. The pressure of fighting and preforming is gone in this title and that made for a very relaxing experience that I probably could never get from any other title that I can think of. It's all puzzle solving and platforming which for me was a good thing.
It's about as casual as you can get from a game in this genre and I love it with my whole heart. If you're just like me, stuck in a hole exhausted from other games or just life in general, give this game a try.
A Hat in Time made my life better and it has given me the courage to try other games that might be more challenging.
Thank you.
Awesome game, I've bought it 2 years ago on Christmas as the Ultimate Edition, however, please fix the Steam audio tracks. They're named wrong and numbered wrong, like Dead Bird Studio Basement is The Annual Movie Award, same goes for each track...
It's totally absurd because I'd play a track which I know the name of but it's a whole different track than what I wanted. So, please fix it..
A Hat In Time is a game that I have a deep personal connection with, have for many years, its an endlessly charming and satisfying experience for all ages. This game has variety from Hat to toe and will not disappoint, a love letter to 3d Platformer that is still felt even today all these years later, I will never stop falling in love with this game no matter how many times I play it, which is more than you think
