A little girl and her spaceship
In A Hat in Time you play as a tiny space-travelling girl with a big tophat. Her adventure is halted when all her fuel, the Time Pieces, is lost and scattered across a nearby planet. Hat Kid must now jump, fight and stitch new hats to make her way into every nook and cranny of this new world in order to restore her fuel and resume her journey. On her way, she'll bump into the menacing Mafia of Cooks, the goofy birds of Dead Bird Studio, the spooky shadows of Subcon Forest, and more!Murder on a train! Parades! Trespassing in a movie studio?
Every mission in A Hat in Time is unique! At one moment you'll be solving the Murder on the Owl Express by finding clues and interrogating the locals, the next moment you'll be the band marshal in The Big Parade, or sneaking through the bird-run Dead Bird Studio!

Highly recommended. Plays like a classic PS2 era platformer with good mechanics and gameplay. There's a hub world with about 6 levels you can visit, each with about 6 missions to collect the missing time pieces. The gameplay gets really difficult and the cutesy theme doesn't get annoying; it's just charming and fun. the soundtrack is phenomenal. i'd recommend the DLC as well, the seal the deal and the Nyakuza Metro each add an additional level to with a bunch of time piece missions. The Metro is a particularly perfect DLC expansion. Challenging gameplay with a new exploration mechanic (subway tickets) rather than the plot based levels of the base game. I wish there were more DLCs, but there's also user made content and mods with tons of extra levels and challenges. Get it on steam sale, and play with a controller. There's also split screen co-op and a cool online mechanic where you see other people playing but you can only wave and emote. Lots of stuff to collect throughout the levels and lots of end game content, i'll be playing this for a while, i just love the game.
Very well done platforming and entertaining characters with each act having its own way I could see someone justifying it as their favorite.

After fully completing the game, both DLC's, and getting all death wish stamps without EZ mode, i have to say, the game is really fun. I do understand some peoples complaints about death wish difficulty and jank, but it wasn't prevalent enough to really make that big of a difference. the base game is amazing, the DLC's are fun(minus cruisin for a bruisin) and the humor is well made. easy 9/10 game.

best platformer ever, completed it 100% on nintendo but went to steam becouse of all the amounts of extra content on the steam version. much more fun with mods or custom levels from others, it was worht it to play it all over again :D
Death Wish has some of the worst, most bullshit boss fights in gaming history. Who on the dev team thought these visual clusterfucks were a good idea? The controls aren't tight enough for this kind of thing. When you make a PLATFORMER, it should be about PLATFORMING, not this unplayable garbage.
I can beat every level in Celeste and every boss in Nine Sols, and Snatcher EX is harder than both of those. That's just... wrong. Why would you do something like this?
This Is by far one of my favorite games to have ever played. Its cute, Funny, and has a lot of depth to its mechanics. I really hope we get a Sequel soon! Hat Kid needs to return!

Very cute and charming game. Sense of humour and creativity reminds me of LittleBigPlanet.
My main issue is that in level design, some of the level's gimmicks are very poorly implemented. I beat Queen Vanessa's Manor almost by accident, for example. That said, most of the game feels very good, and has a lot of personality.

Great game, each area feels unique and there is Death wishes (optional side content that comes with the DLC) for those seeking a very difficult challenge.
Cute game, wish I could've gotten more out of it, but it was fun nevertheless.
Shares a lot of gameplay feeling as Super Mario
Played this game on Switch a few years ago and it's just as fun as I remember except now I have access to way more stuff (mods, online multiplayer, etc.). Would highly recommend to anyone who loves 3D platformers.

One of the best platform game that I ever played, the musics are fun and chill sometimes. The movements of this game is better then Super Mario 64. Masterpiece.
This is my first review on Steam ever so I apologize if it's not of satisfaction but I would just like to tell a small story about how much this game means to me.
I've always had a hard time putting me in new situations(autism) and that includes games. I currently have over 1000 games in my library spead across multiple platforms, most of them unplayed thinking that someday I will play it and right now A hat in time is the game that made me want to break out of my shell and really try to play a game on my own accord.
It's funny, lighthearted, easy to understand, very cartoonish, the hats are pretty cool and that's what I love about this game. There's no pressure at all to do anything. I spent the first hour just jumping around on the first level just discovering everything and feeling the game out. The pressure of fighting and preforming is gone in this title and that made for a very relaxing experience that I probably could never get from any other title that I can think of. It's all puzzle solving and platforming which for me was a good thing.
It's about as casual as you can get from a game in this genre and I love it with my whole heart. If you're just like me, stuck in a hole exhausted from other games or just life in general, give this game a try.
A Hat in Time made my life better and it has given me the courage to try other games that might be more challenging.

Awesome game, I've bought it 2 years ago on Christmas as the Ultimate Edition, however, please fix the Steam audio tracks. They're named wrong and numbered wrong, like Dead Bird Studio Basement is The Annual Movie Award, same goes for each track...
It's totally absurd because I'd play a track which I know the name of but it's a whole different track than what I wanted. So, please fix it..
A Hat In Time is a game that I have a deep personal connection with, have for many years, its an endlessly charming and satisfying experience for all ages. This game has variety from Hat to toe and will not disappoint, a love letter to 3d Platformer that is still felt even today all these years later, I will never stop falling in love with this game no matter how many times I play it, which is more than you think
This game is one of my favorite 3D Platformers of all time. It controls really well, fun to explore, and has a really good sense of humor.
The only issue I ran into is that using the online features on the daytime stages of Mafia Town (the first world) makes the game nearly unplayable due to frame drops. Make sure to turn them off for those levels in particular. Once you get to the nighttime levels and to the rest of the game, you're all set to turn them back on.
So like imagine your typical 3d platformer, but better.

This is the best example of a platforming game I can think of. Go play it if you can better on a sale but worth it. I am prob gonna play it a few more times over the next few years.

One of my favorite games ever! The DLC for Metro and Seal the Deal are both super cute and have tons of character while also being a challenge! The main story overall is amazing and a treat to play! 10/10 Game
have been eyeing this game ever since 2017-2018, and i have to say i find every day of waiting for a chance to get this game was worth it! the artstyle is very charming and is probably one of, if not my favorite 3D platformer of all time! get this game if you have been eyeing this game for a long time, you won't regret it :)
Really lovely classic 3D platformer. There's a lot of complexity to the main character's movement which can lead to some satisfying tricks. The worlds are fun and many of the levels are really creative. Unfortunately the game feels a bit like it's on a negative trajectory overall - the most interesting levels and unique platforming challenges occur around the middle act with the game becoming less interesting in the last third or so - but there's so much fun to be had regardless.
Highly enjoyable and surprisingly technical platformer. Cute but brutal at times. I clicked immediately with this and if you don't well just refund it. I think if you like the art style and enjoy 3D platformers, you're 99.9% assured to dig this.
Cute, fun, it's just a great experience throughout. The game plays around with some different gameplay ideas in the main game in in the DLCs, and they are all either knockouts or decently fun. The workshop gives this game even more potential. I don't think my time spent in this game reflects how much fun I have had with it. I plan on giving this game more time. Highly Recommend!
Over the top and snarky action platformer with great artstyle and musical direction.

A really fun 3D platformer. There's a bit of dark humor but if you don't mind, it's great experience.
An overall interesting and enjoyable 3D platformer. The art style is cute, the characters are fun, and the well crafted gameplay is just the cherry on top. While it did have some frustrating or confusing moments, that's the sort of thing i expect from a platformer.

My fav 3D platformer of all time that has so many good mods, its a bit over priced and the devs tried to sell paid Mods + having QOL elements locked behind dlc
Its still one of the greatest platformer ever made and i 100% recommend it on sale
this game has been one of my favourites for the past couple years now and after buying it for the 5th time just now on pc i can say it keeps that title confidently, the shocking ease in the mod support along with just how good the base game is makes for probably the best time that 25 bucks can get you
I ADORE this game! It has nice graphics, lovley gameplay and it kept me hooked for the 4 hours i played it! The bad is the controls and that some things aren't explained to the fullest! Other then that if you're looking for an interesting platformer with a gimick this is the game for you!
A light-hearted game that'll have you amused. Personally, I dislike games with confusing controls (mostly platformers like Celeste), but I found this game's controls easy to grasp in it's 3D cartoon-style world(s). If you're also looking for a challenge, Death Wish (a part of the 'Seal the Deal' DLC, a must-grab for fans) will have you on the edge of your seat, its most infamous level being the 1-Heart boss rush.
Do not fret old timers, it bears most resemblance to Super Mario 64, and doesn't disappoint with a similar formula.
A decent 9/10, unfortunate that the DLCs are behind money (despite being mostly worth it).

Very worth picking up on sale. Comparatively short, but every level is all bangers.
I LOVE THIS GAME. while it costs quite a bit of money i think you can make it worth it. i used to play this game with my sister on my xbox and i became obsessed. while the main game can be arguably short the amount of side quests make the game even more enjoyable. Theres also lots of diffrent hats and skins to collect, getting the Add-ons make it even better! it expands the game for another few hours, and in my op its one of those games you can play multiple times. it also has a very fun social feature you can either use or ignore interialy! generaly a good game.
This game change my life and i thank it for that. it is a beautiful and charming litlle adventure in some of the most intresting places in video games I had to explore and filled with charming character. it made me confident wearing top hats and long chlothes and embrase my sillyness. thank you Gears for breakfast for making such a remarkable game. if you like 3D platformers like Mario 64 or Banjo kazzoie you will probably like this game. the community are as nice as a familly on Christmass hollidays. I've been hearing about this game for a long while, and I'm so glad I've decided to give this game a try. What a joy to play! The gameplay can be challenging yet fun, with each level feeling unique and creative. The game made me want to revisit previous levels and explore some more just because I adored the different environments. Also, "A Hat in Time" has an excellent sense of humour, with well-written dialogue and memorable characters. It made me want to continue playing! Overall, a great game, especially if you enjoy collectathon-platforming genres. I'm already thinking about my next replay :D
