If you played without any sound on and have no problems with sudden perils that in some cases can cause you to lose a life, then by all means carry on and play this game.
There is no volume control in game and it is exceedingly loud and the music is pretty uninspiring.
I also found the platforms that appear and disappear have the potential to dsync making it impossible to get through certain areas (namely the second last stage when you go up the shaft) unless you get extremely lucky and land on a platform that is about to appear or get some sort of boosted jump off the side of these platforms which doesn't always happen and when it does, you don't always want it to happen.
The fact this game has a number of cheap deaths where you will just die because haha sudden enemy or a blind jump down so good luck finding where you need to land.
That said, the abilities you pick up throughout the game are interesting albeit not always useful and it's not always clear who is weak to what element (although that I guess is a learning experience).
The Engrish also makes for a good chuckle or two
I like this game, it's fun, just one of them games that you can come back to whenever you feel like it.
Play estelle dont mind ace haha
It'll scratch the itch as a bargain bin megaman clone. The story is kinda touching if I recall correctly.
There's not a lot to say about it, grab it on sale, I don't remember if I beat it, but apparently I enjoyed it for 2.1 hours some months ago. I don't remember anything bad about it, but I don't remember anything sticking out as amazing either.
So I'd guess it's worth about two bucks at that enjoyment point? Plus I could probably replay it again, or if there's any post game content I didn't do I could do that, and get just as much enjoyment again.
Obviously worth more if you want to support small dev teams. But if you're poor and looking to stretch your cash, specifically hoping for a megamanalike, wait around for a big sale. There's actually several dozen games under the metroidvania or action platformer tags on Steam that are closer to megaman clones.
A relatively decent anime-themed Megaman X clone. The main difference here is the weapons system. Unlike in a Megaman title where your weapons are limited, this game lets you use the weapons an unlimited amount of times while adding 3 abilities for each weapon, all of which consumes MP, and a cooldown time for the more powerful abilities. I like that you get a choice of character, as well as ways to customize them. The CG and art for this game is excellent, and I even liked the soundtrack.
As for the negatives, I didn't really care for the story at all in this game, as it felt melodramatic. The game also had a few rough around the edges glitches such as the characters walking in place when no buttons were pressed. There are also parts of the game that feel lifted straight from the worst parts of Megaman X, such as having to scale a wall with enemies jumping at you every two seconds!
In conclusion, I would recommend the game if you are able to look past the flaws I mentioned. It is a decent MMX clone, so take a look if you are into games like that!
I had it in my wishlist for some quite time and finally bought it in a sale. I was expecting a competent Megaman X clone but I got really disappointed. The game features nice visuals and the characters looked interesting, I liked that they made a story far from the robot uprising trope of these games, but the problems with it are bigger than these few positives.
I encountered my first problem as soon as I launched it. Since it's a Unity game, it has one of those launchers where you had to set the control pad bindings, which is quite a drag if you have a X360 controller. I had to set them directly in the registry and couldn't map the triggers as buttons at all.
Once I passed this hurdle, there was the story and tutorials. The tutorials were OK as they were short, but I felt them quite unecessary for a game like this. The story, like I said before, was interesting, but you can't skip it. This was a problem since I had to launch the game several times to check if the controller bindings I edited in the registry were fine.
After I finally went through all this, I started playing for real. At the beginning, I thought the opening stage was OK, a little scarce on enemies, an easy boss and it didn't drag, so I hoped for the game to get better later. I was wrong.
The enemy placement, as well as the variety, was dull, some can still hit you during the defeat animations, which can take quite a while. Since there is no invincibility period after a hit, the enemies can corner you very easily and take all of your energy in seconds. A vine enemy can bind you and you have to wiggle the controller to let loose (which I found it to be a good innovation), but if at the same time there are enemies and shots, it's game over.
Another big problem is that the camera follows the character all the time and there are no "screen boundaries" as in MegaMan or even Mighty No.9, this screen movement makes you feel that the jumps are not of the height you would expect or want and makes your character feel "floaty" at times. The dash can be quite confusing, sometimes it feels it's too fast, or goes too far or stops where it shouldn't.
But the final nail to the coffin is that the "borrowed" wall grab from MMX is really bad, especially in small platforms. The controls get a little screwed while you hang to a wall and don't let you react fast or good enough, you think you've pressed the jump button, but this is so delayed that the character will simply slip and fall to its demise; or on the contrary, since you have problems trying to jump, you'll start pressing the button like crazy and you character will also make little jumps like crazy that will make you lose control of it and will very likely result in an instant death.
There are some nice innovations here and there, but the playability issues are far too bad to recommend this game, especially with such a price tag, is too high for its quality.
In summary, all I have to say now for this game is: Mighty No.9 is far, far better than this game and I'm glad there are refunds in Steam.
I've been playing Megaman and other similar action platformers since I was 3...BUT, I'm always up for new things. Reviews said this was like Megaman X. I suppose it is, but in my opinion, a poorly designed version.
Megaman has gained a reputation due to excellent level design, tight controls and excellent music. This title has levels that often don't allow you to see perils before you're on top of them. The main character feels floaty, the dash is a sudden super fast burst of speed that dies off unnaturally. The strangest thing about the movement is the wall hiking. You jump onto the wall, then when jump is pressed again the character suddenly starts jumping madly like a little bunny up the wall, making it very hard to control. Last, the music is not memorable...
It does have some good ideas with the powers, but the way you use them makes the second and third options cumbersome, making them a hassle to use at bosses when you might want to use them.
Overall, you can do much better on indie action platformers (Rex Rocket, Rabi-Ribi and Axiom Verge come to mind).
Reminds you of the Mega Man X games. Unlike the Mega Man X Games . You have about 35 skills instead of the 18 skills (9 normal and 9 charge skills). Then you have all the additions such as double jump or air dash. I noticed there are also two energy tank slots in this game.
Although there are more special skills, they are not as flashy as Mega Man X.
I did enjoy the game and it brings back the memories of the NES and Super NES days.
I think you should do a sequel to the game. Just polish the skills and give a new story.
Overall I would give this game a 9 / 10.
Not bad for an indie game. I very enjoyed this game.
Challenge the boss , seeking for hidden items
It bring back memories of playing Megaman in my youth.
If you like the Megaman X this is the game for you.
