GAMEPLAY
The main goal in the game is to pass the levels and collect as much energy as possible.
Controls are simple: press left or right to steer the player around.
The hoverboard enables you to defy gravity and you often have to ride sideways and upside-down to pass the levels. Everything is tied together with a camera system which enables interesting angles and ensures the player stays in control at all times.
STORY
Someone has stolen all the power from your robot village, but the track is still warm, hop on your hoverboard and get the energy back!
As you ride your hoverboard through the game, a story about the odd and desolate world of the robots starts to unfold. Story is told through small interactive cutscenes.

Got this game on the fire stick back in like 2018 never beat it until now in the top 10 best games ever
I've been searching for this game for some time now. I used to play this as a kid on my phone and it's been living in my memory ever since- until I've tried it on steam. So here we are ;3 I fkn love it!
Could this control any worse? What's with the ridiculously laggy acceleration, it's like Marble Madness but even more infuriating. Way too "glidey" for me to enjoy.
Power Hover is a fun little game that’s perfect for on the go. I tried it on the Steam Deck and it works perfectly. I don’t mind the difficulty spikes too much, I just think the bosses are very difficult, which suits the game very well. I had a blast going through all the levels and finding out there’s a challenge mode to unlock some new characters using bolts was also awesome. I definitely recommend giving this game a try and I’ll be trying to perfect my boss runs in the upcoming days.
Hold that camera

I don't necessarily think it's a badly made runner. I just happen to find the dynamic camera disorienting.
It moves freely between sections, tilts, zooms out. Not even necessarily centered on the character.
Now increase the difficulty, with busier levels and obstacles that move into frame only stopping directly in front of you. And you will see how easy it is to misjudge trajectories
Power Hover is a good game. It's pretty simple, as your only controls are left and right, but that doesn't make it trivial. In fact, the game is pretty difficult if you want a high score on every level, especially the gauntlet levels (described in the game as "bosses") where things can get pretty intense. I never found it oppressive, however, it was just... fun, and engaging. The fact that the game has fantastic art- and level design also helps tremendously; I even found myself exclaiming a fair number of "oohs" and "aahs" throughout my playthrough.
All of that said, there are a couple of potential problems here. First and foremost, there is the controls. This game is slidey, meaning that your momentum continues in the direction of your input even after you let go of the button. So, in order to stop, you need to correct with the opposite input, which also means that you will encounter a lot of resistance when changing directions quickly. This takes a lot of getting used to and for some it might be a dealbreaker – I myself didn't exactly love it at the start, and I didn't really connect with it fully until my third hour into the game, at which point the campaign was almost over. If you can get over the hump, it plays fine, even great at times. But the hump is there and I think it's important to know that going in.
My second problem is the camera. It's far from bad, it's mostly pretty good and well used, but at times I found it lacking. The developers obviously played around with perspective, sometimes having the camera behind the character, sometimes having it above, sometimes following your movements and sometimes being fixed. Problem is, it just doesn't work out 100% of the time. I had several deaths where I just couldn't see where I was going because of something blocking the camera or because of the angle. A couple of later levels are designed with this being an intentional problem and even then it just wasn't very fun to play. A feature/problem with a similar feeling is the gotcha-moments, where obstacles suddenly pop out of the ground – it just doesn't feel fair, which without all the plentiful lives in the game would be a bigger problem than it is currently. Did still annoy me, though.
All of that doesn't take away from the fact that this game is worth playing. I was stricken by the amount of intentionality in this game, where every detail was made with an effect in mind, and it's better for it. There are a couple of missteps, but I really like that Power Hover doesn't just play things safe and tries to do something a little different. As a result, I had a really good time with it and I think you will too.
Power Hover is a chaotic racing game where you doge lasers, falling rocks and bombs while you gather batteries to upgrade your robot hover boarder to explore the many maps including a desert, city, cave, oceans and more while listening to a solid soundtrack.

This is one of the games I forgive for being an asset flip-y drab-looking game (mobile port also, I think?) because I enjoy the gameplay enough. It usually comes comes off cheap too with some trading cards so I think that's a plus? The boss fights are kind of decent too

This game is worth every penny, even at full price. In my opinion, one of the best games you can get at under $5 full price. Power Hover shows just how simple a game can look and control yet challenge you, calm you, and excite you all at once. The stages continue to ramp in difficulty while teaching you organically how to get better. Instead of showing you direct gameplay techniques and those serving no real purpose like some games do, everything you go through in this game will just be to gradually improve your skill so that you'll be able to handle more challenging stages later on. And while the upgrades are only a handful, each one serves to allow you a better experience, whether that be to extend your life stock, offer you another chance altogether when you die, or even to gather resources more easily for you so that you can focus more on your positioning.
Before I list some pros and cons to the game, I also must gush about the soundtrack. It is so good that it made me look up who did it. My wife several times stopped me to ask me what I was listening to. And it melds with the game so good. This game isn't just a great game, it is also a great tool to calm you, depending on the stages you are playing or your overall current mood. Likewise the game will challenge you if you are up for trying to beat out your score, collect everything on the stage or face off against some of the most challenging courses or challenges.
Pros:
- Simplistic art style but works beautifully with the gameplay and music.
- Simple gameplay where you just guide the character however still challenging.
- Fantastic soundtrack that pairs perfectly with the type of game it is.
- Difficulty ramps up perfectly.
- Not too long, not too short. Never wears out its welcome or runs out of new things to learn throughout the story.
- Story is simple but unfolds artistically. For this small of a game it is told very uniquely.
- Simple upgrades but all of them feel worthwhile.
- Your player skill progression getting better at the game will happen organically as the stages and challenge are positioned perfectly.
- Replay value in the story.
- Characters to unlock
- Challenge mode for additional gameplay time and those who want even more of a challenge.
Cons:
- Until you really get in the groove, you might initially at times feel a bit floaty from left to right when hovering.
- Most checkpoints are fantastic, but there are some in the later levels that might frustrate you a bit. Just take a breather.
This game is an absolutely masterpiece of showing what a minimalistic game can be. Nothing in here feels over the top and yet you feel like you are playing a super polished game with great controls, simple but pleasing graphics, fantastic sound and music and all this for less than $5. One of the few games that I wouldn't change anything about. The developer, Oddrok, really outdid themselves.
the basic game idea is nice, but the RNG how elements are build and work especially in boss stages is just very frustrating.
And one steam achievement is bugged since years and the dev know it.
Best 40 cents ive spent in a while. The gameplay is satisfying and almost completely bugfree (only the rails are a little weird sometimes). Leveldesign of the pre-made level is generally super nice, with cool aesthetics to boot. its clear some love and thought went into it.
The only problem is that the music is boring and the bosslevels are too repetitive and cheap, since you cannot use any continues.
I look forward to other projects of the developer!
It is a beautiful game, don't get me wrong! but the difficulty gets leaps harder and the control makes it quite difficult. Now, if you're into dying alot because your character kept SLIGHTLY hitting something or just slid right into something because the controls are slightly janky, then go for it. but i can't recommend with my heart. I got too angry too fast and I even yawned during some of the levels. the story is fine, alittle bland, I did not get very far, I'll be honest! So i'm not 100% sure where it goes or even if it gets better, but because of the minor collisions, too much sliding and not enough control... I cannot continue! I really am sorry! but its literally just switching between 2 buttons. left and right. LEFT AND RIGHT. thats the only control you have over anything. you're just sitting there and staring at the screen.

Fun at first but gets frustratingly difficult later on. The player character has a slippery momentum that makes harder levels seem unfair. Changes in camera perspective during some levels also make it difficult to move through obstacles.
The game reminded me of Journey (2012 game) with how fluent, chill and melancholic it is. In this one chill is your greatest enemy though - its tracks, including the music ones, twist and twine hypnotically, as if asking of you to relax, to let go, but buying into it even for a brief moment would get your face obliterated right away.
Indie game done right!
Short but interesting story, engaging gameplay, cool graphics, great soundtrack.
And the asking price is worth every penny!

There's not much to say in regards to this game, the screenshots say it all. The game is a small, cheap priced little game and it's good fun. I doubt it'll last long to "complete" as I haven't done it yet but it's most definitely good fun.
I even got it on sale for £0.39...so cheap yet fun. Get it doods.
Power Hover is a simple action/racing game with alot of fun times.
You're on a hoverboard just sliding through different worlds and avoiding obstacles.
Along the way you pick up batteries, with witch you help the city get it's power back.
It is also a challenging game if you want to master it.
All in all a great game to relax and enjoy good music :)

This game looks visually astounding and has a great open beautiful feel that I love in games from independant studios. I loved the concept and was very excited to play this with some good music. From level one the game was just kinda boring. You go forward and pickup batteries as you surf. There wasn't any option to do tricks on your ramps or even jump. Just go left and right. The pickups didn't really feel rewarding at all, although you can redeem them for some upgrades in the level select screen. I feel like this game has something good but just isn't interesting enough. If it were to update to address some of these issues I would recommend this game. You should watch some gameplay before you take my word for it.
For 69p I'm happy with what the game provides. At £2.79 I would be asking for a refund.
I was enjoying the game until it started getting harder and you had to hover on ceilings and around pipes. As soon as you go upside down then suddenly right is left and left is right. The amount of times I pressed left to go left and it went right and visa versa really annoyed me. The controls ruin the game for me really. I will still give it a positive mark though as I can't see anyone else having this problem. I just think I am a bit of a doofus.
The concept of the game is amazing and just what I was looking for. The sound track and art style are 10/10. Unfortunely the game is not optimized for controller and is super sensitive with no way to change it making the game a lot more difficult in an annoying way. I have only played a little and will certainly play more.
This game is like a Bit.Trip Runner and Race The Sun combined (speed plus muscle memeory) so if you liked those you may like this one.
I really wish this game had a sandbox mode its just so chill I just wanna chill in this game seriously. The bosses are also quite hard I fluke most things.
Powerhover is a simple yet challenging game in which you are a robot on a hoverboard. The only mechanic in the game is moving left or right. But this mechanic is compounded upon by tons of level hazards and challenges.
The 35 levels are very varied, and have a great and cohesive artistic direction. You won't be feeling like you've played the same level twice. The levels are enhanced by the awesome soundtrack, which is seriously amazing. Most levels are a sort of challenge requiring precision and memorization. Some levels called "boss levels"(a misnomer imo, there are no bosses) are procedurally generated and take out the "memorization" aspect and require good precision and fast reflexes.
Each level introduces a different mechanic, such as rail grinding, giant snake worms or rockets shooting at you. There is always something to hold your interst.
My major gripe with the game is the difficulty curve. Some levels you can breeze through and 100% on the first try, other might take 10-20 attempts. Though it doesn't ruin the game, it definitely hit me for a jolt when I thought I was getting the hang of the game and then I get my ass handed to me.
Overall, a unique and fun experience that is full of challenge. The full game took me about 3 hours to beat, but there is also a challenge mode as well, which should add on another 45 minutes or so. I would not reccomend this game to people who don't like having to repeat a task to perfect it, or those who hate losing.
