I don't usually write steam reviews, but this game prompted me to.
This game looks enticing, but in practice is very clunky, has no tutorial and overall feels half put together, like most older titles "made for enthusiasts", where the main selling point was only that it was in VR.
So, how do you do stuff? Heck if the game explains, even in the first startup. It prompted me to "press the grab button"(which is kinda obvious, but there were no visual cues or explanation of what that was).
I bought it on a sale and did not spent much on it, but it was not worth it.
I highly recommend this title with some major caveats.
First off, 30 bucks is quite a steep price. Wait for a sale. Second, the learning curve and the amount of options and weapon load outs you can have is crazy. This can be a good or bad thing depending on you. I personally liked testing out all the different options and preferences you can tweak to make the game feel perfect for me. Some folks may find it a bit overwhelming. I will admit by default the game is a little janky. I probably spent a good hour+ just messing with settings and testing out different play styles and loud outs.
After I found a play style/settings/weapon load outs that I really enjoyed, killing enemies, flipping in bullet-time slow-mo and wall running is so friken fun.
There's a story here but...not really lol. You're basically a sci-fi futuristic ninja/samurai assassin that can double/triple jump, wall run, ground slide, back flip and activate bullet-time all while slicing with swords, unloading clips, throwing ninja-style weapons, blasting faces with shotguns etc...
The game is far from perfect. I wish there was another game that had this kind of game play that was more updated, polished and kept up-to-date.
The single best VR game I've ever seen for people who don't get motion sickness. All those comfort options? Teleport, screen fade, vignette, snap turn? You can turn them ALL off. You can have full locomotion and smooth turning. You can slide, and jump. You can do triple slowmo spinning tumble flips while shooting dual pistols at everything you see.
If there's anything that remotely touches the movement possibilities of this game, I've never found it.
Amazing game. This game makes me more sick than any other that I've tried. I love it. The way the bows feel is phenomenal. Most games want you to aim with both hands, which makes for some really wonky aiming since detection is just not there yet. But this one does one and even lets you choose which hand. The jumping and the midair aiming and the flipping, it's all fucking incredibly fun. I love reflecting/deflecting bullets with my blades. The way the pistols shoot is great. I'd bet the other guns are good too, but I've pretty much been using nothing but bows, swords, and revolvers since I started and haven't been tempted to deviate. I get the feeling that you can really just play however you want to. No wrong answers except for standing still.
Fine game, but servers are dead, so online tags is a lie
this is... well, its a game. and its vr. its not a good game, not worth the 12 dollars i spent on sale, and certainly not the 30 base price. let me summarize a bit of game-play. you are shooting up a bunch of robo samurai in city with zero inhabitants and about a million inaccessible "XXX Sex Shop" with "Private Shows" advertised on the windows and a bunch of sex vending machines. naturally you cannot enter the shops or use the vending machines. and the one "Strip Club" you go into to clear of enemies has zero strippers, zero audience, zero employees, and zero enemies. its just an open room with 2 empty bars serving "cocktails and last words" you casually walk to the next "room" and its a bit more city-like and there is one female robo samurai dancer lady that you let kill you slowly with throwing fans so you can get back to the main menu since you cant exit the game without dying or possibly completing the level, idk about the latter due to just wanting to leave and get my refund. oh and the rocket launcher is a nightmare to try and aim. you basically have to put your hand at hip level to hold it in front of you like a pistol since shoulder firing it is worse. and you have to point your hand at the floor to make it shoot straight-ish in front of you.
aside from the fact that this game has somewhat better graphics, and multiple rooms. everything this game does, Nightclub Simulator VR does better for less than 5 bucks. mind you, neither have strippers (Nc Sim does have exotic dancers, but not strippers unless that changed recently), and Nc Sim doesn't have samurai that I know of. why does this game even have so many xxx stores? like, really, why? what was the idea behind that? i get that cyber punk style settings love their sexy shit, but why are there at LEAST 2 in every "room" going through the streets? maybe im digging to deep into this, maybe im missing something. but it just doesn't feel like what i was expecting. to restate what i said first, it is a game, and it is vr. if that is all your after you might like it, but dont buy it at full price, i'm requesting a refund at less than half price. im just glad i didn't buy the weapons pack.
