War of Rights is a multiplayer game set during the perilous days of the American Civil War, in the Maryland Campaign of September, 1862. Campfire Games is devoted to presenting the gruesome and glorious elements of the period, while maintaining the highest level of historical accuracy and realism as is possible with the wonders of CRYENGINE.

Players in the game will be able to play on multiple battlefields of the campaign, from the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers where the Siege of Harper's Ferry took place, to the ridgelines of South Mountain, and to the meandering waters of Antietam Creek at the Battle of Antietam. Additionally, players will also be able to choose from a list of regiments that fought in each battle as well as what rank to fight as, whether they want to slog it out as a lowly private, or if you want to orchestrate the carnage and mayhem as a major general.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Uniforms and bodily features will all be customizable for other players to see as you march and fight in the lines of battle according to the tactics of the period. As a General, you will operate in your headquarters equipped with a map of the battlefield and constantly receiving reports of friendly and enemy positions. Send out new orders to the regiments to move forward, or fall back - all in real time. The orders will move down the chain of command, to the Colonels, Majors, down to the Captains in charge of the individual regiments, all of whom have the option to follow the orders of their trusted commander, or rebel against his wishes and fight as you see fit.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Each map contains a period reconstruction of the buildings, farms, forests, roads, and rocks as they were in 1862 so players can fight through the streets of Harper's Ferry, in the wooded heights of Fox's Gap at South Mountain, or in the cornfields and Bloody Lanes of Antietam. Players can feel the whiz of deadly shot and shell fly by their bodies, or hit their comrades or themselves as they scream in a bloody hail from their wounds. Limbs will fly and blood will be spilt once again as Campfire Games brings the fighting of the Civil War right to the player's computer screen!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Will you heed the Union call against the traitors? Or will you fight to defend your family and livelihood with the Confederacy? You decide!

Unique game mechanics make this one great. Community is good, unless you have a problem with some good ole boys.
Shitty game, too slow, unrealistically slow. If you were 80 years old with one leg and one arm I would understand. But no way someone would be this slow in a battle. Imagine IRL being slow, this is 200% slower than IRL at everything. From running, walking, jumping a small fence to aiming, firing, everything. Every movement your arms and legs do is so slow it takes all the fun out of it.
Dead game, hasn't been a good or substantial update in forever... what fucking failures.
War of Rights is an excellent game that includes great battles and strategy. I hope it moves forward to include more if not all of the battles waged during the Civil War. I would recommend this to anyone.
At this point, I don't even care about the game's content.
Why in the good God damn does this game, every single time I play it, make it so that any time I ALT+TAB, or any time I die, or any time I access a menu, I can't click on any damn thing? What the fuck is wrong with this game? Nothing I do fixes it!
How in the hell do you have a game that is out for this long with such shitty ass glitches like this? It is so infuriating! This is "back alleys of Hyderabad, drinking shit water straight out of the Ganges without filtering or boiling, bobs and vagene" level programming.
Seven. YEARS. You've had this game out.
I really wanted to like this game, but I can't recommend it. You spend most of the time not doing anything. You fire one volley, then everyone runs away while you are reloading and you die. Or you wait 70 seconds spawn in, load your weapon, everyone runs away, and then you die from a enemy charge, wait 70 seconds to spawn in, repeat. Don't even get me started on the team killing. Cool concept of a game, a lot of people love it, but this just isn't fun for me.
Mechanics need polishing, ie. not being able to break or cancel the bayonet animation, and it is painful to rank up. I played most of my time before ranks were added and it has taken many games just to get to lvl 5. The player base is fairly obnoxious too, I get its a mil-sim but being a condescending ass to people who don't have the same experience as someone with 100+ hours is 30% of the comms in this game. If your looking for a civil war mil-sim this is the best one out there for sure but I don't recommend it until they make ranking up easier or more enjoyable or until the community becomes more tolerable.
It is genuinely hard to not enjoy this game. Beautiful graphics and rather simple shooting and melee mechanics make it simple to learn but tough to master. If you are into the line battle games with purely chaotic and sometimes overwhelming with explosions and gunfire.. pick this game up and come join the fight.
Best Game.
Love this game, hope they add more type of guns and maybe a gatling gun for the arty squad
Will recommnend this game 500 %
If you like team play and American Civil War history this is the game for you. With all of the period accurate units and weaponry, you'll feel like you've traveled into the past and be fighting to save the Union or stand up for your states rights as a Confederate. What I personally like about War of Rights, is you only gain experience through team play being in formation, skirmishing, and out of line. You wont see how many kills you have gotten and you must work your way up through the levels to make rank. So all in all I love it and enjoy War of Rights.
this game is absolutely a must have! the devs did a great one with this one !!! plus all the updates on the way the game will continue to grow!
Amazing game.
However, public matches aren't as great. I do highly recommend joining a regiment, as you will then be able to participate in massive, organized, private battles. Definitely look to join one, such as 1stMD :)
Fun, chaotic game when you have an organized group such as through regiments.
I absolutely love this game, the community is really stinkin fun and funny the gameplay is awesome and exciting, and it has taught me more about the american civil war.
10/10 Game
Game is pretty fun when servers have around 150+ players. There are some absolute dumb asses in the game, but you can identify them easily by the amount of downvotes they have. Most of them are just kids seeking attention or just mentally retarded, the community just ignores them or just straight up tks them.
Definitely a social game just based on how much communication matters and to keep people invested. Devs still need to add quite a few QoL features, but the dev team is pretty small. Definitely worth a pick up on a sale, might not be worth full price for some as the game will probably be in EA for a very, very long time. Devs actually play the game and check things out though.
9/10 game. just wish there was more players on. The dev team and the"actually" community is super great and helpful. just know when you join the CSA in a public lobby you are going be in for a treat. if you are wanting to play the game just ask for help from your team and that the game is usually has more players on at 7 or 8PM-12 eastern time and weekends
If you love Holdfast or Isonzo, you'll enjoy this. Plenty of regiments doing re-enactment style drills, as well as plenty of zany roleplayers whipping out accents and period parlance to make each session a hilarious blast.
The immersion is outstanding the graphics are also outstanding the roles are great and the maps that resemble actually battles is also great so most defiantly suggest this game
A lot of these so called "realistic" games often leave fun to a handful of seconds each map and become walking simulators.
War of Rights does a great job of keeping this to an absolute minimum. The map size is great for this type of gameplay and doesn't make you run around for half an hour to get somewhere useful.
And the game is REALLY easy to get into. just watch a tutorial and see how the aiming and stamina works and you're basically good to go. Even without knowing the orders like "about face" or so most of these commands are really simple and it's very easy to get a unit of random people to fight as a team. The flag-bearer mechanic is also the best respawn location mechanic I've seen so far in a shooter. It really improves teamplay when somebody has to go out of their way to pick up the flag to let the team respawn.
I've not seen it done this easily in any other shooter.
But the downright best part of the game is the community. I just bought the game. I didn't know what buck and ball was or how to affix my bayonet. But the ingame officer corps - and dare I say NCO corps even more so makes this game what it is. You can instantly tell how good this round is gonna be when you hear an NCO repeat his officers orders to you 24 times and everybody falls in line.
Very good format. User-friendly gameplay and also very historically accurate. Seems like the closest I can come to going back in time and actually fighting in the Civil War myself.
the game does appear to be historically accurate and fun
Immersive civil war game. Plenty of fun banter and camaraderie on both sides. Tactics have shifted in the past year from boring generals playing cautiously to fun generals prioritizing charges (the absolute best part of the game). Very unique community on each side and plenty of very experienced players (especially in the artillery). Still very welcoming to new players
DO NOT BUY. Have you ever been new to a shooter that has team killing in it? Have you ever accidentally killed a few allies by mistake in a game with servers over 300 players as a new player? Well I got news for you. There is only one active server in this game. It typically has 180-280ish players on it. If you team killed 3 people in say, a two hour time span, you will be banned from the only active server for 6 hours and not longer able to play the game for the rest of the day. If you do it again, it doubles the time banned. STAY AWAY!
Very realistic and unique game, love the community and everything about the game by far my favourite game of all time
I wanted to like this game and gave it several chances, but I can't recommend it. My main problem is you spend most of the time not doing anything. You fire one volley, then everyone run away while you are reloading. It makes me just want to tk the company commander and leave. The moral system just gets in the way of playing the game. The second a melee breaks out, your screen is black and white and the teamkills begin.
just simply put its fun and the details are great
Such a unique game. No other game has capture the reality of war quite like this, especially with this time period in mind. Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!
Very Recommended, very social, nice lads, sometimes blatant racism (normally roleplay joking), and overall fun on either side, winning or losing. 9.5/10
The game has great potential, the actual game concept is fun and immersive. Sadly, the player base is not quite large enough, every time I play there is the same weirdo in-game RPing while shouting southern slurs.
There is one server that everyone joins, with even that server being left half-full most of the time. Would I pay 24,99 again? Probably not. This time it's a thumbs down...
Flipped a cannon, then stole the Confederate artillery. Peak gameplay.
This is lowkey the best powder game on the market.
PROS
- Unmatched atmosphere. Lighting, sounds and smoke are flawless.
- Great multiplayer experience. Under the right guide, a company can be lethal.
- Potential endless replayability.
- Hilarious voice chat moments with people spamming the Imperial March during a deployment.
CONS
- Very few players nowadays, it's a niche title
- Blatant racism is part of the CSA gameplay
- Slow on updates
Fun game but completely abandoned by the incompetent devs. Terrible performance and awkward controls.
This game is so cool! If your looking for a game where there is a chain of command, epic line battles where gargantuan volleys are fired, charges where everyone is screaming down their mics and dying, this it it, Buy it!
no other game in this style comes close to the level of quality this game has. very, very fun. great community albeit a bit much at times.
casual racism. artillery shredding through the musket line. a battle cry in the distance. whats that? bayonet charge? oh man i just got stabbed in the face. 10/10 would line up again to get yelled at by some screeching autistic sgt. rambo? never heard of him.
what a clunky, bugged out, horrible ui, piece of shit game.
This is just another FPS running simulator. You run for 95% of the game, get there, get shot, rinse and repeat. This game offers nothing new or really that interesting. The combat is designed to be done with the bayonet but the combat is so unrealistic and the character movements are extremely slow. it really just boils down to whoever clicked first. I cant be the only one who is tired of these half ass games. There are only a handful of servers, so if you happen to get banned for accidental TK or whatever arbitrary reason the mod decides, you are done playing. There is ONE server that has a reasonable amount of players. Your $40.00 experience is at the whims of a discord mod.
Really fun once, you get into it. Just need some good players to help you get started. Listen to your officers too!
One of the best hardcore shooters! Very fun atmosphere and positive community.
Great and hilarious game! Accurate battles and kinda has a Hell let loose vibe. Ragdolls are good as well.
Looks good, the chat is quite funny ('slightly' racist Americans dropping the N word liberally but that's no shocker) but it's a bit slow and boring most of the time. Still have absolutely no idea if I've ever killed anyone in the game. Still recommending though if you're looking for a fast paced shooter, this most definately isn't it
away down south in the land of traitors, rattle snakes and alligators, ride away! come away! ride away! come away! where cotton's king and men are chattels, union boys will win the battles! ride away! come away! ride away! come away! we'll all go down to dixie! away! away! each dixie boy must understand that he must mind his uncle sam!! away! away! we'll all go down to dixie! away! away! we'll all go down to dixie!
i wish i was in Baltimore, i'd make secession trader's roar! ride away! come away! ride away! come away! we'll put the traitors all to route, i'll bet my boots will whip em out! ride away! come away! ride away! come away! we'll all go down to dixie! away! away! each dixie boy must understand that he must mind his uncle sam!! away! away! we'll all go down to dixie! away! away! we'll all go down to dixie!
oh may our stars and stripes still wave, forever our the free and brave! ride away! come away! ride away! come away! and let our motto ever be for union and liberty! ride away! come away! ride away! come away! we'll all go down to dixie! away! away! each dixie boy must understand that he must mind his uncle sam!! away! away! we'll all go down to dixie! away! away! we'll all go doOOOOOOWN TO DIXIE!!!
Nothing better than a refreshing cup of Confederate tears after battle
Melee can be buggy, but overall the massive line battles are fun
Game is super toxic full of racists who are unironic. downvote feature allows 1-2 popular pub officers to single out people to demote and ostricise while being cheered by devs. this game is just discord civil war fps
This is the goods right here. Great community, fun game dynamic, things are always going completely haywire which is hilarious and action packed - come get it!
its good till some nerd yells at you for trying to take leadership even though he just joined, whoever that was, if youre reading this. fuck you retard
Awesome game with a dedicated community! Officers will help newcomers and everyone is their to joke around and have fun. Would recommend to anyone who is a civil war geek, or just has an interest in the game! BUY TODAY!
I love 85% of this game. It does get slightly clunky when climbing over fences and such, and I am always deeply annoyed that you do not spawn into battle with a loaded rifle. There is no reason why you should need to reload immediately upon spawning, especially midway and later throughout the match when you are likely to get shot quickly. If you are looking for a game with a kill/death count, look elsewhere. There is a slight learning curve, but you will figure it out quickly. I hope they keep developing this as it could really be something great if expanded upon.
dead game. 1 server. Not fun cant do anything unless your regiment decides to do it. so in my limited play time we moved our line left right left but never did anything. Boring not worth 30 bucks stay away unless they can come up with more servers .
1. Joined the csa as a riflemen or somthing
2. Got into contact with the enemy
3. i heard a guy scream FREE THE N---ERS
4. shot some dude
5. got shot
10/10 would play again
