It's the most innovative shooter I've played in years! There is no war in Ba Sing Se.
my first time playing super hot was through the playstation VR however, finally playing the first game on PC is amazing. This game's mechanics and idea is something never thought of before and totally made a new look on future games. The game is slow, yet your mind is racing, barely knowing what to do next to keep yourself alive. It truly is such a masterpiece of a game along the rest of the series being fantastic.
Would You Wanna Leave The Simulation?
SUPERHOT is the smash-hit FPS where time moves only when you move. No regenerating health bars. No conveniently placed ammo drops. It's you, alone, outnumbered and outgunned. Snatch weapons from fallen enemies to shoot, slice and dodge through a truly cinematic hurricane of slow-motion bullets.

[th]About[/th]
[th]Description[/th]

💾Graphics
Graphics are extremely simple. Mostly filled with a white color with some red’s (Mainly the bullets and enemies are red), but that’s about it. In my opinion, it’s a unique artstyle choice that represents what this game is trying to achieve, and that’s a simulation. Now the environments are pretty detailed, in terms of layout and design. Not much to say here. It’s simple, easy to get used to, and helps you focus on the combat.

🎮Gameplay
Gameplay is basic, but well executed. This is a shooter/puzzle game, that’s all about surviving. The main mechanic is pure slo-motion, based on your movement speed. It’s kinda like a matrix experience if that makes any sense. It’s “fast pace” pure combat, with the puzzle being you dodging bullets. It’s unique, and I actually really like it. There are many methods in killing your foes. With guns, melee weapons, your fist, or trick the enemy and have them kill their own. You can also teleport in different bodies which is a pretty cool mechanic. Once you beat the game, you unlock a few game modes like endless, and challenges. I just wish the enemies and levels are increasingly harder. Yeah you face enemies with a few different weapons, but that’s about it.

📜Story
The story was actually engaging! Being addicted to this simulator while the “moderators” watch and warn you about your wrongdoing does heighten the tension a bit. I won’t spoil much, but it was a surprisingly well done story, granted there’s no dialogue and mostly done on text.

🕛Playtime
Playtime is around 20+ hours if you are doing the extra game modes too. The story alone was around 6+ hours.

🎧Sound
Sound design is super basic. Honestly just not much to say here. Besides the gunshots, there’s not much else in terms of sound design lol. Now that may be because this is based of a simulation.

❗Bugs❗
I didn’t see any bugs in this game. No odd glitches or issues. Game ran really well in terms of bugs.

🔅Performance
Performance was actually super good! There are little to no graphics options, but that doesn’t matter because the game ran perfectly. No stutters, no crashes, and high frame rates!

✔️Pro’s

- Super fun slow-mo combat
- Fun game modes & challenges
- Story is simple but engaging
- Unique puzzle-shooter experience
- UI is pretty unique (Computer BIOS style UI)

❌Con’s

- Super short story
- Levels or enemies don’t really get more complex or harder

🏆Rating
8/10
Buy this game on sale for around 50% off.

🔗Conclusion
SUPERHOT surprised me! I knew it was gonna be a fun and unique game, but didn’t expect to get addicted to it for a short while. It was simple, easy to get into, and fairly challenging at times. A great experience if you want to play a super unique shooting game.

[*]RAM: 32GB Ram
The game itself is cool and feels epic thanks to its unique time mechanic.
If you play it carefully, it won't be particularly difficult for you — I would even say it's pretty easy. However, that doesn't mean the game is bad, as it actually gives you the feeling of being a "cool pro agent on a secret mission", partially thanks to levels being not that hard to beat.
BUT
After only 30 minutes in I have already noticed a couple of really irritating things that worsen my gaming experience:
1) Somehow, this game removes the English keyboard layout from my computer when I launch it.
2) Pressing Escape sends you back to the main menu instead of pausing the game.
3) Restart requires you to hold the R button and shows you screen interference animation every single time which I find really unnecessary and annoying.
4) After completing a level you get to see the replay in normal speed, which is a neat feature. BUT it just keeps spamming "Super Hot" both in my ears and eyes. Sometimes I need to Alt + Tab after the level and I still hear this crap on repeat. YES you can press F5 after every level, but why did they have to make you do it? it just really is the highest point of stupidity for me. It is the worst thing on the list.
+ Replays don't have any sounds.
Also I don't care that much about it, but why does it need to have a separate launcher?
SUPERHOT still remains as one of the most innovative shooters of all time. Precision, timing and strategy will lead to unadulterated chaos. And watching my replays on Killterest is such a trip everytime. 9/10
Definitely an innovative shooter (really a puzzle game with shooter mechanics) and worth a try if on sale.
At the start of the game it says use right trigger or left click to shoot and it wants you to shoot your gun cause there two enemies in the way but whenever I shoot my gun it just resets the game so what's the point in even playing if you can't use them.
This is a pretty fun game, I liked it. Feels very cool when dodging bullets
Original concept, fun to play, it's not any AAA game, but it's minimalistic aesthetics offers quite of an interesting, unusual experience
This is the most innovative shooter I've played in years! Definitely a must play for anyone and everyone. this is a spoiler

SUPER. HOT. A unique game with time as a mechanic, this game leans more to the puzzle side but it still is a FPS game at its core. Its visual style is very unique enemies, items easily contrasted from the sparsely detailed but still interesting environments. A game worth playing despite its short playtime, because its levels are all finely made and mechanics perfected.
Pretty innovative and has good mechanics but has a pretty mid story and too little levels. The art style and all is nice but I think it's only worth it if its on sale.
love the retro story-line and novel concept of time and movement. Fun short game

SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT
This game is so good it uses a little psychological horror and it makes the game so insanely fun because slicing and shooting people made out of glass and you actually need to use your brain for some of the levels and the replay that you can edit and the time only moves when you move makes you feel like a being from another dimension so that is why this game is not superhot it is superfun
Game is very fun, the time slowing mechanic makes you feel like your in the matrix.
SUPERHOT is a classic with a good mix of action and strategy. It feels amazing to plan your moves and pull off crazy stunts in slow motion. The graphics are simple but stylish, and the gameplay is super fun. It's not very long (I'm going for all achievements and I'm nearly done after 4.6 hours, I'd say the main story takes about 2 hours), but it's so unique and EXTREMELY replayable. Definitely worth playing! Have fun!
I would absolutely recommend this game to all of my friends and anybody reading this message, it's amazing and I cannot stop playing. It is the most innovative shooter I have played in years!
I saw this game a lot of years ago in a YouTube series and i decided to try it because I already knew the main mechanic of this game. The levels are really good and it feels so satysfing completing them and watch che replay without the slow motion. Sadly, the story is not so memorable but if you don't need a good story this game is a good one. The effects and the graphics are good but the sounds are really good. The levels are balanced and some of them require some time to think about the next move and some tries. To sum it up, this game is really good and the unique mechanic make it a must try.
I loved this game. Never played a game with time slowing as a central mechanic and they executed it in an engaging and entertaining way. Well done!

No, jokes aside MIND IS SOFTWARE...
I meant this is a really cool game and you should play it. (I love how this review makes no sense to someone who hasn't played the game lol)
Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
A brilliant idea that doesn't work.
The game is built around the single game mechanic where time only moves when you move. It's a fantastic new take on the beloved bullet time that Max Payne introduced back in 2001, and nobody has ever iterated on since. Sadly, despite how fun it sounds, it's not. It's only two hours long, and the game grows dull even before that. I believe a lot more could have been done with the levels or enemy variety. The story is okay, but it feels really forced. Worth at a discount.
SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!
What is there to say that hasn't already been said? This game is totally unique gameplay wise, makes you feel like you're in a cool action-thriller, has a passably-intriguing story, and is visually striking. I don't know if it's SUPER. HOT., per se, but it's a good game.
Love the gameplay. The story is pretentious.
You have to check out this game. It's most innovative shooter I've played in years!
You have to check out this game. It's the most innovative shooter I've played !!!
i remember playing the earliest version of this game on some website that i don't recall the name of and i instantly loved it i've never seen this original idea being replicated on any game ever SuperHot is 100% original and that's what makes it good i recommend it.
Best indie fps games of all time I like the concept of a slow motion when you don’t move like fps game 10/10
A fun, refreshing take on first-person shooters. Shooting people with their own guns is fun. The game makes you feel like a slick action hero. The main issue with this game is the story. While the story is interesting, whenever the game makes you stop to listen to it, the game grinds to a halt. Still, the gameplay outside of that is wonderful. 4/5
A classic indie game for a reason. Unique, great story and style. You have to check out this game. It's the most innovative shooter I've played in years.
Great FPS that fully utilizes the mechanics it introduces. Finishing any level makes you say, “Just one more.” The addition of post-game challenges helps prolong this short but intense experience.
SUPERHOT but SUPERFREEZE.
By the way, this year, I successfully missed the limited-time achievement level "Pumpkin Spiced Challenge"... It will be one of myactually non-existent"annual goals" for next yr.
Superfun. Got this after trying VR version at my friend's. There is just the right amount of content to not get too repetitive. Levels are progressively harder but not too hard. The whole concept of moving as little as possible while using every move efficiently is very inovative. Will definitely replay it sometime.
It is a game that is definitely worth trying, it is very good as a casual game and it is even better if you dig into the challenges and lore which are equally interesting, enough to not be too repetitive at all
Unreasonably well-executed mechanic and a gripping fourth-wall-breaking story to boot. Wow.
The story mode is short but fun through it's entire duration. The challenges however, are what kept me playing the game.
Classic, perfect gameplay and nice challenges
This is such a good game the idea is A M A Z I N G i have had 28 hours on this game and i have no regrets.
I love this game its AWESOME im not going to spoiler anything BUT please buy this game SUPERHOT
Atmosphere, atmosphere. And most of the fun is the unexpected. Any wrong move is leathal.
Creative Shooter. Beatable in a few hours, would recommend more if its on sale as I can't really justify why the game is the price it is for how much content you really get
The Ultimate Thought Provoking Bullet Time Simulator
Total time at review: 3hrs
TL;DR
A FPS with a hook; time only moves when you move. Effectively, the ultimate bullet time simulator. Eliminate all the red human shapes with bullets, punches, or found objects in a minimalistic indoor space; rinse and repeat in the next level. A low poly VR aesthetic that’s graphically stylish and presents a unique vision of retrofuturism. Phenomenal sound design heightens the action and immersion. Levels are compact and short (think seconds, not minutes). Deaths are fair, restarts are snappy, and the pull for one more run is hard to resist.
Caveats & Further Depth
Know going in there’s no item/skill progression. You’re not graded on performance as in Hotline Miami. Twitchy reflexes aren’t needed— it’s like a contemplative, less frenetic Devil Daggers. Players are free to walk the level so long as they survive the enemy onslaught. In one of the games only downsides, traversal does not offer a wealth of player choice. The unlockable game modes is where SUPERHOT really shines; adding variety and extending enjoyment well after completing the 30 level over the course of 2.5hrs. There are speed challenges, melee only, and my personal favorite: endless mode. If topping your personal best is something you chase, you’ll likely find these a superb addition. To me, they are the highlight. Originally released in 2016, I would include it in a group of indies that shifted the paradigm— elevating indies beyond what you’d expect to see in an indie found on, itch.io, Newgrounds, or XBOX Live Arcade at the time.
Immediate Takeaway
For $10 on PC, it’s easy to recommend to a fairly broad range of ages and experience levels. It has the hallmarks of a good game: easy to learn, engaging to play, fun to master, and bug free. If you’re comfortable using either a mouse and keyboard (preferred, in my opinion) or a controller, don’t mind violence (No gore; everyone is crystals.), this is a title you’ll enjoy. Also, if you know someone who maybe used to play games and is interested to get back into them, this a great re-entry point. If the challenge modes aren’t appealing or if you’re looking for a game with some more meat on the bones, it’s fine to sleep on this one. I wouldn’t call it a “must play” but rather a “must know about”. Absolutely watch some gameplay at the very least.
SUPERHOT is available on every platform; even VR, though the stroboscopic VFX may be a bit much for some.
Look & Feel
Rather than a resource to deploy judiciously as in Max Payne, the world of SUPERHOT exists entirely within the glory of bullet time. By attaching it to player movement, the developer removes a layer of artifice; expanding and intensifying the exhilaration of bullet time for players without having to learn a new mechanic or UI component. It's a potent and elegant solution that’s a spectacle to behold and entertaining to play.
The enemies are faceless humans and crystalline in appearance. Once a level starts they emerge around corners, corridors, and quickly close the distance. Staying aware, prioritizing targets, and deciding takedown methods are engaging options to juggle and fun to perform. On defeat, their slow-motion crumple into shattered heaps comes without complaint as opposed to gushes of gore and yowls of agony. Their lack of identity and uniform color further emphasizes a “you vs them” dynamic; simultaneously stylish and depersonalizing that, on introspection, is unsettling.
Its graphical minimalism and limited color palette feel modern and compelling though it may not be to everyone’s tastes. Personally, instead of feeling boring or empty, I feel it’s an appealing combination of retrofuturistic elements and logical design choices. Form and function meld beautifully as the simplified renderings serve the player. Identification of important objects (enemies, bullets, weapons) comes easily, feels thematically consistent, and successfully presents the environment as a virtual space.
It would be criminal not to highlight the stellar sound design; it significantly elevates the action and immersion. The game does not have music and is better for it.
Highlights & Weak Points
Out of the roughly 30 levels some shine brighter than others; only a few became mildly annoying due to death cycles or level design choices. Individual skill comes into play in that regard.
Once you unlock a level you’re free to replay it as you choose from the menu, another great design decision that accommodates a pick up and play approach. For me, the game is at its best with endless mode. I have sunk at least an entire hour chasing a higher kill count and easily foresee future sessions.
You do have a cooldown ability that swaps your position with an enemy’s (in the excitement, I often forget I have it), but I feel it only alleviates rather than solves for one of the game’s only downsides. Levels can present the player with choices on how to survive the rush of enemies. Go left or right? Charge ahead? Take the stairs? And the movement works well insofar as you can either walk or jump, though I would say it’s more serviceable than inspired. Instead of Jackie Chan, it’s more like classic Doomguy. Maybe that restriction is an exciting point of tension, but for me, wall running or other acrobatics could have dramatically inspired my approach to encounters; potentially adding an awesome risk/reward aspect and extending replay value.
Lasting Impression
SUPERHOT is undoubtedly inventive and entertaining in its fresh gameplay premise. It delivers a concise, well executed experience in a unified package that I continue to return for in quick 15min sessions.
After spending more time with SUPERHOT, I find it even thought provoking. The game regularly flashes bold text in all caps. At first it's helpful instruction that I interpret as a simple style choice. As the tone becomes more threatening, as it tells me I have less and less control, I realize these flashes of text refer to conditioning techniques, i.e. brainwashing. “Hold up. Is this virtual world in fact reality? Am I really killing people from the comfort of my keyboard? I mean, drone pilots are a thing…” Can we trust that we’re being told the truth from a source of greater power that may hide their motivations behind systems?
It’s a thorny idea that humanity hasn’t untangled. It’s an idea that Polish developer SUPERHOT Team likely intend considering the history of the region circa 1940: engulfed by a neighboring totalitarian aggressor, eeking out survival amidst a police state and the accompanying paranoia. The game alludes to these themes with an intriguing and stylish new coat of paint: they feel immediate and relevant along with the troubling subtext that humanity is doomed to repeat its mistakes.
The game taunts me as I play, giving it more and more control over me. To what extent are the games we play playing us? To be clear, I don’t think Go Fish is trying to undermine free will. Candy Crush and slot machines, on the other hand, I’m not so sure. Are there games we are participating in to our own detriment? What about ones that we’re not even aware of in the form of habits, rules, tradition, addictions, societal expectations, etc.? What does this behavior mean on a global scale? Who benefits? There’s not a single answer, of course, but this game in particular reminds me that time and attention are a valuable finite source of power not to be wasted. We pour it into our desires, vices, loved ones, and enemies. We would likely all benefit from more mindfulness in what we choose to devote this power to; to ask if our pursuits align with our values as opposed to working against us. I know for my part, I accomplish this with mixed success. But in everything you do, I think simply asking yourself this question is enough.
10/10 very fun unique FPS that still holds up almost 9 years after release, although some aspects of it can be enraging, it is still a very strong first game for a new concept.
Pretty fun mechanic that gets a little stale (challenge runs unlocked after the campaign help a lot with this) but easily has the most annoying writing I've ever seen in a video game
buy on sale
100% do not buy at full price. Devs have their own launcher which seemingly only promotes their other games. I only got 5 hours due to sucking, but the campaign is like 3. Incredibly repetitive, either a positive or negative depending on if you like the, at times, VERY puzzle esque nature of the game.
Cannot in full faith reccomend the game, but it's still great
Superhot is a pretty quick game but MAN does it feel so badass to kill people in slow motion. This game is so much fun and if you want even more of the game there are infinite modes and side modes!
Very nice game. I'm not usually into bloody graphical shooter games, but again this isn't like that. Super cool concept and very well executed.
This is the most innovative shooter I've played in years! (I have a gun to my head please send help.)
it's more than 8 years old, and it's still the most innovative shooter i've played in years :>
