A fun 3 hours! Regularly on discount, probably wouldn't get it at full price.

This game is really fun. It has a cool stop action mechanic. It would be awesome in VR.
The asking price for the game is a bit steep. My recommendation for you is to get the game on sale, as the campaign is a bit short. On the bright side, everything else is awesome. Super satisfying killing the red people. A unique and refreshing approach to FPS games. I highly recommend. Its SUPER HOT!

this game was a core memory for me, xbox one S, sitting on the living room floor, playing the Parking Garage level, learning i can stomp enemies, it was truly one of the best games of my lifetime
December 3rd - SUPERHOT - 5h 30m - (Main+) 4/10 - Started December 1st - 2 Days Taken - Beat the game, two challenges and got 18/26 achievements.
Here's my review:
Pros:
The fake OS works well as a framing narrative, pushing the story forward later. It immerses you into the world and creates some great meta moments. I especially liked the one where the main character acknowledges that he's not even typing any of the words that he's been typing. Another great one was where the game does take you actual keyboard inputs so it ends up being random gibberish.
Neutral:
The story is quite intriguing with the player getting trapped within the game and being forced to upload themselves into the algorithm and then kill themselves. However, it still leaves a bit to be desired since it doesn't explain who created the program or why they did it. What is the program's ultimate goal? Why kill persistent players who get too far into the game? The game could've used a second act after you join the machine where questions like these are revealed. Maybe they're addressed in the sequel, but it makes this one's story feel a bit half-baked.
The time-stop mechanic that makes SUPERHOT unique is used to great effect, making for some very fun and creative levels. Adding on top of this the hotswitch mechanic makes you feel like a badass when you pull off a cool play. The problem is that those moments aren't the most frequent. I never quite got the hang of the time-stopping and sometimes the amount of time progression felt inconsistent, which would often lead to a bullet in the face. The optimal strategy was to tap the movement key so you could inch forward which isn't the most exciting gameplay either and was very repetitive at times. The difficulty of the story mode is on the higher end of difficulty, but the difficulty curve is decent enough and challenges the player a good amount.
Cons:
What I have real gripes with is the bonus content, I know they are meant for advanced players who want more, but the difficulty spike is almost insane. At the very least the challenges should be ranked by difficulty so that you know where to start. For example, the first challenge I did was much harder than the second one. The endless levels were also crazy difficult, even more so than the other challenges. I wanted to see how close I could get to 100 percenting the game but the repetitive gameplay and frustrating difficulty made me give up. It wasn't fun getting shot in the back by an enemy you didn't know existed because you weren't checking all around you every second.
It is a unique and fun shooter, to recommend the game how the devs want me to, I'll say this, It's the most inventive shooter I've ever played.

2h is for main classic story, which is not the best part
It also has speedrun, realtime speedrun, katanaonly run, legacy version run, and a lot of other absolutely unique runs, so here is a LOT more content than just 2h story
Good game, but the main campaign is short.
Achievements are a bit of a grind but feasible.
Take it on sales and have a few ours fun with it.

it was alright but after going into the menus to enable physics lock i didn't realize the core was all a single level so i didn't bother continuing with it, the main gameplay loop seems fun at first but continually getting one shotted and respawning didn't seem all that fun in the end, especially when the respawn isn't as instant as dying
It is fun, engaging, mildly addictive but not too much, the storytelling is great, lack of "normal" graphisms is not a loss. Is this game completly bug-free? (I don't recall a single issue in years)
A fun game with a simple premise. It really is just "time moves when you move" and "shoot red guys," and that’s all it needs to be. The time mechanic is enough to make it a solid game by simply throwing enemies at random on a map. I love it. I also liked the story, even though it doesn't explain a lot of things, like how the main character interacts with themselves in the "real world" from the game, or how they manage to upload their mind. It leaves much of the story up to the player’s interpretation (a little too much for some, including myself). Still, I guess the vagueness fits well with the gameplay's simplicity. Overall, it’s a good game.
buy it when it goes on sale, no modding support... Not enough levels. The story is a bit thin/ not really important to the game play. It is woth probs about $10 for the 8 hours I have played

I'm a 58-year-old dad just trying to figure out how to make my son happy, but it’s harder than I ever imagined. I see how much he loves video games, especially on Steam, but honestly, this whole digital world feels overwhelming to me. I’m fumbling my way through, trying to buy him the right games, struggling to understand how to download them, and feeling more out of touch with each click. I know he probably wishes I "just got it" like other dads, but I’m doing my best because I just want him to be proud of me. It’s tough, though—knowing that my best might still fall short of what he really wants. I’d give anything to see him smile and know that, at least for a moment, I managed to connect with him in a way that matters to him.
Good game, but the main campaign is short.

In all seriousness however, SUPERHOT prides itself in being a sort of unique "puzzle shooter". Simply put, the player must survive levels of increasing difficulty; punching red dudes while dodging bullets in "Matrix" fashion. All of this chaos is endured to uncover the truth behind the program that is SUPERHOT. Challenge mode repeats the same levels again, but each time with a different twist, a feature removed here, a debuff there. Suddenly, the levels we once memorized in story mode are no longer so simple. The only flaw is that once all is punched and done, there is very little left to do except replay, replay, replay!!! Don't worry though, there's bound to be MORE!

Costs too much for 2 hours of gameplay. The only thing that carries this game is idea, every other thing about it is lame. The story is awfully boring and generic. ''Hey bro this game is a virus that turns your mind into software and kills you!''. This is it, that's all you need to know. Then when you play the actual game, the way enemies act is completely random, time slows down when you don't move, what will they do? A). [Stuck for a bit doing nothing.] B). [Instantly walk though thousand miles and shoot you the next millisecond.] Most of time when you pick up a weapon it takes so long that it's literally useless. Sometimes, red dudes themselves can shoot you through 1 pixel of another enemy when bullet clearly would have shot him instead of player. Rifle enemies straight up spam you and you can't pick up anything which leads to - 1. [abuse mind control ability.] 2. [die.] You cant kill them any other way, because you have to keep the distance in order to not being shot at. How would you solve this? Add limited ammo capacity to enemies like in any other normal game. What is the problem? This makes dumb enemy pre-fire (even when you're not in their field of sight) very convenient for you. How do you solve this? In no way. Then there are throwables. You know what makes them waste of time in most cases? 1. [enemy bullets can break them.] 2. [they break even by hitting 1 pixel of wall and then fall into pieces]. How could this issue have been solved? Make another pieces fly further and be able to hit an enemy. This would solve both breaking 1 item that blocks only 1 bullet (and there's really not that much of items on the levels) and making them annoying to throw because you have to throw it perfectly. I'll touch a bit of melee weapons too. AD2013 is so fun to play because you (almost) never can use a melee weapon besides from your fists which kill enemies with one single punch (and they're the only melee that works fine). Then we have katana. Ok, I'm aiming at the enemy, my crosshair is at the middle, and I'm at the distance of melee's range- POOF you missed that hit! HOW? Even if the enemy becomes coloured in red stripes, you can still miss it! It happens so often and it sucks for the most part. Even if you throw katana, the hitbox is so needle-alike that you have to make a perfect throw once again, but the fun part about it that red dudes CAN dodge both bullets and throws by changing their direction of movement or by turning their body 90°. The problem is - you almost never can do the same, hell, there's not even a crouch in the game to start with, why? It'd make a great dodge move. Then, we also have item pickups and attack button being the same one, which makes it hard to control a situation at tense moments and it's quite unreasonable.
This game is highly overrated for what it is, all the replayability comes from the same boring challenges of the same levels, devs could have at least added the levels from an ending with a red core where you kill red dudes until you can switch to it. 10/10 for idea, 2/10 for execution.
This is my second time playing through this game. I originally played this game with my buddies at a party when it first came out. We stayed up to 2 am to beat it lol. Waited till it was on sale and played it through again. Was just as good as I remembered. Didn't take me long because it's not super long and I remembered most of it. It's very simple but very fun. Time moves when you move. Shoot the red guys. Don't get shot. Nice game overall, however it's simplicity means that after a while you know what to expect. Would recommend, especially if you can get it on sale. 9/10

Jokes aside, Superhot is a very interesting shooter with a fun mechanic an interesting, yet somewhat generic, story. The gameplay is tons of fun, and it's very satisfying once you get the hang of it. Only complaint is that it is extremely short, as in hour and a half short. There's challenges and an endless mode, but I'd recommend only buying on sale. Some might also find the breaks between gameplay to do the story annoying, but it's personal preference. I enjoyed them myself, but you might not.
TL;DR: Very interesting and fun shooter, with some good bonus content and lore. Only buy on sale.

SUPERHOT stands out with its visually distinct and clean aesthetic, featuring stark white backgrounds and bright red enemies that pop, making the action easy to follow. Unfortunately, the game struggles to maintain a steady flow, as frequent forced dialogue sections interrupt gameplay, requiring the player to type through them and shattering any momentum built up between levels.
The core mechanic—time moving only when the player does—creates awkward pacing. Movement feels either too sluggish or too abrupt, often leading to a zigzagging dance to dodge projectiles or forward time to reload a weapon. With no other mobility options, this makes the game feel slow and cumbersome.
Levels are highly scripted, with enemy placements designed in such a way that players must either memorize the correct sequence of actions or fall victim to stray projectiles. This lack of player agency detracts from the potential for creativity and makes the gameplay feel basic and overly rigid.
While SUPERHOT is visually engaging, the repetitive interruptions, awkward movement, and rigid level design make the experience less compelling than it could be. The concept is intriguing, but the execution falls short.

After playing the 2013 website version for so long I was happy to see an official game. While this game is rather short (I finished in about 45 minutes) there are several challenge modes, an endless mode, and secrets to discover in the main game. I skipped the speed run portions and I hate timer events (except Neon White, I was so close to 100%) but there was still plenty to play for 6 hours and more still to do if I felt like grinding the endless mode or discovering all the secrets.
Overall fun game with very unique mechanics and aesthetic. Some things like the sword, typing, and replays are not well designed, but they don't don't factor in too heavily to the core gameplay, and the rest works pretty smoothly. I honestly found the story kind of dull and lazy, and was basically just trudging along until I could be rid of it and have free play (which you are rewarded with for finishing the game), but I still absolutely think it's a worthwhile game when it's on sale.

This is a insane fun shooter that is really unique idk how to describe it. I love the art and physics, the game is made well. Plot is hard to follow in the beginning but after a while, idc, i just did what it said! 9/10 would recommend.

you can pretty easily pretend to rail the enemies due to the movement mechanics in this game
Fantastic game if you think you might like puzzle shooters. Even in 2024, 8 years after it's initial release date.
