Warhammer: Vermintide 2

The game is super cheap and I have a lot of fun killing rats. Get it if you enjoy melee combat focused games.

- Beautiful maps and skyboxes.
- Voice acting is colourful and funny.
- Fantastic variety of weapons and classes.
- Chaos Wastes is something that Darktide doesn't have.

Criticisms
- Having only one character at any given lobby is a mood killer.
- Host migration is such a terrible system.
- Elitist community.
- Jank blocking/stun sometimes. You'll stab a rat and somehow his attack will hit you immediately after.

Very good game, kinda dead tho so expect to at least try missions by yourself

I didn't play this game until it was like 6 years old or something (I just recently started a few months ago) and there's so much well-made beautiful content. The runs are fun, the pvp is okay although I'm not into it much, and the chaos wate roguelite mode is also pretty sick. all in all one of my favorite games currently and highly reccomend

Very fun game. I dont even feelt like gaming much lately but this one been keeping me coming back. Seems to have a fair amount of replayability.

I do wish the story is a little bit longer for the future one, as a lot of the replayability and game modes seem more fit for when I was younger and liked grinding, as opposed to something more varied. But on sale, it's a steal.

The horde shooter named Warhammer: Vermintide II, is one of the best horde shooters of all time, surpassing it's competition in nearly all categories. While some may argue that Left For Dead 2 is superior with it's various game modes and well-developed versus mode, Warhammer: Vermintide II more than makes up for it with it's large variety of unique missions, spanning from defensive holdouts to large scale treks across battlefields. Warhammer: Vermintide II has a plethora of unique mechanics that set it above and beyond similar horde shooters, and it's fun and intriguing character interactions make the games replay value even better.

sure is fun - its old but they added so much stuff over the years -- this game sure gets way more updates then Darktide and there is so much to discover - feels like I barely scratched the surface
what I dont like if that there seems to be a ton that is not really well explained in game so I have to find the info elsewhere - like how mechanics in game work or how gear upgrades work.
I do like the story but I feel so intimmidated that with like 15 hours of play I dont dare to take a single step into versus

world building and the estetics are great music is cool
I got some of the game on sale gave it a try and then got more on future sales maybe watch some YT Vids of it if you are still on the fence

EDIT: there is littrally in the main hub a thing with all the info I was looking for - i am not sure how I managed to oversee this kinda weapon rack looking thing with books for 15 hours but its there so ... well thats on me not on the game .. but to be frank i see more then 100 Stars worth of information there is so much to read .. nobody got time for that

Something about a LFD2 type game with rats just feels right. The game rewards you for learning how to play and get better. You can just mess around and kill rats but there are lots of collectibles in the form of books to find on each map, and puzzles hidden everywhere. It's just a great experience,

Yes, I'm not recommending after 500 hours and all achiements unlocked because Versus is their second development boondoggle that added nothing of value to the core competencies of the game, and because desyncing with no dedicated servers was bad enough on discrete maps but is an absolute gut punch with Chaos Wastes. The lazy implementation of the weekly challenges and Grudgemarked means that even when you are suddenly dumped in a solo lobby halfway through the last arena, seeing nothing but a pittance of rewards after over an hour of time invested is almost inevitable. I'll keep playing that garbage but it would be a disservice to have anyone who doesn't have a broken brain suffer Fatshark's stubborn incompetence.

What can I say about this game? It's great! :D It has a well-balanced difficulty progression system, a variety of gameplay elements, and plenty of action. The Chaos Wastes mode is really fun to play after completing all the story missions. I can't say much about playing with randoms or connectivity issues since I always play with my party. However, we do occasionally experience some issues (maybe once in 5-10h). Overall, it's a fun and engaging experience.

I'd really love to upvote this game as it has been great co-operative multiplayer experience whenever it has worked properly. That is, the title bringing a breath of life into the Left 4 Dead genre with extensive character customization abilities. However, the game is let down by its horrible network code. More than half of the random games I've joined have ended up in some sort of desyncronization problems or outright disconnect without any specific reason or warning. Neither does any sort of game recovery from a disconnected host work either. Seven years after the release date the network play of the title is way too unreliable to really allow recommending the title.

My advice: if you are interested, buy the base game without any DLC if it's heavily discounted. If you enjoy it and find the network performance acceptable for your needs, so be it. In my case with the random games being irritating disconnect-a-fest I'm certainly not investing into all DLC's of the game even if they gave me considerable amount of new content to play with.

I would recommend this game if you really would like to play a first person hack and slash with blood, blood everywhere.
It feels really amazing!

But to be honest I think this game is almost great.
It could have been great but it lacks of depth on character customization level.
The passives can't give enough space even with the options of weapon change.
If they would double the options there, and just give like 20% extra depth to the crafting system it would be amazingly
fun and also satisfying.

We still play with it with my sister, because it is a great way to have fun when we don't want to think a lot,
but we are also looking for something else.

This game has the worst no skill gameplay ever which consists in spamming left click the whole time, killig hordes made of the same enemies in every level is the most boring thing ever. Pure trash 3/10 wasted my time for this bs game

Definitely the best first-person melee combat I've experienced in a game - it's a got enough depth to provide skill expression, whilst still being arcadey enough to just be able to hop in and enjoy without requiring so much of a mechanical demand from the player. I wish this kind of melee combat would be introduced to other first-person fantasy games, e.g. Elder Scrolls.

The combat has a weight to it and feels impactful, especially with the gore!

I had actually put this game on hold for a while, simply because I was spending time with other games, and I only had 1-2 other friends that would play this game that had a hiatus too. I definitely prefer playing with friends, especially since the AI can be hit or miss (they definitely improve as you craft loadouts with them when you level up those specific heroes, but are very hard to work with on harder difficulties of the game).

I got back into it when I discovered that they had added the rogue-lite mode: Chaos Wastes; probably the best addition to the game by far.

This game has immense replayability simply because the core gameplay loop of smashing rats to bits never gets old.

It starts a little slow, I'd say just keep pushing yourself because the higher difficulties is where the real fun is at.

For such a simple premise there is a surprising amount of depth with both the character builds and the levels. Learning the secrets and getting the books is all part of learning the game, and it's an area which i think really brings people together because carrying the books or completing the puzzles has to be a group effort.

The devs also keep adding more maps for free which is fantastic.

Highly recommend, even if you have no interest in warhammer. Better with friends!

Plenty of content to dig in to with a reasonably deep combat mechanics on the higher difficulties. I was sold when I realized it was basically Left 4 Dead meets Warhammer with RPG elements (I never played or had even heard of Vermintide 1 until after this game came out)!

I got the game, expecting a glitchy but fun game game in line with darktide,





I then looked at that image of a mouse trap with a fucking revolver and said "i can do better" and gave a short as fuck british man whos consumed far too many illegal substances two cannonball-shooting guns and let them loose on the skaven, along with pyros equally batshit insane ancestor (game is good, fuck the stick rats,)

certain missions crash the game. Crafting can crash the game. party disconnects are frequent enough. i regret buying the DLC for this game since the last acts are barely even balanced compared to first few acts.

Got the game a couple of years ago but didn't really have anyone to play it with. Fast forward to 2024, Vermintide 2 had a sale and was able to bring in a couple of friends to play the game with.

It's basically a melee-style L4D, but with different characters, classes, and a skill tree. There's some progression involving the skills and the gear so you have an incentive to play more, and to play through the harder difficulty. Played the game for around 130 hours before I got the best gears for my character, but I'm pretty much done with the game.

I put about 13 hours in playing with a friend and felt like I saw a good percentage of what the game had to offer. It was a ton of fun, very thematic, and felt like the creators put a lot of love into it.

The true winner of "Labour of Love." Next to offering a variety of modes and hundreds of hours of gameplay to fully complete, the game is still being updated even after nearly seven years. With new maps still being released in 2025. (Thank you Darktide players - we eating good)

The level designs, voice acting and general mechanics combined make this game an absolute treat to play.

There's so many different difficulties, play styles and builds to choose from too, giving you the freedom of choice to either have a laid back roam through a quick map or a long and twisted rouge-like adventure. Even better, despite it being released back in 2018, it's still getting updates (including new maps)!

Fatshark made something special here and it's well worth the money even at full price.

More a fan of the 40K counterpart. But this game is definitely good to play to see where the roots and inspiration for the gameplay of darktide is taken from. Less Pew. But still amazing melee.

This is LFD2 set in the warhammer universe. A fun game, but fatshark is soooo greedy. They took a single game and split it into a bunch of DLC's in order to make more money.

As a kid who grew up with Left 4 Dead and liked to image what kind of battle preferences the survivors would have, this game is an absolute blessing. A fantastic coop horde fighter with a great in-depth melee system, fun guns, and unique characters with their own classes. There seriously isn't much I could ask to improve this game's experience. As if it wasn't good enough, the respective characters will yap nearly endlessly, and have tons of funny or interesting quips and stories which I love.

It's amazing this game continues to get support more than six years down the line, and I'm hoping they'll continue to support it.

Vermintide 2 is an action-packed co-op game set in the grim world of Warhammer. The combat is visceral and satisfying, with each class and their unique or class-shared weapons feeling distinct in their attack patterns.

The environments are well-detailed, and the character models have some level of customisation, although many of the "good" skins are paid-only. Content & Progression

There's a good amount of content to keep you engaged for hours. In my experience, I completed all achievements (maxed out all classes) and got to the highest difficulty - Cataclysm - in ±56 hours. In these hours, I saw a variety of missions, ranging from clearing out an island fortress and setting it ablaze to escorting a cart through dark caves.

The game's progression system is generally rewarding. As you progress through the levels (0-35), you unlock new weapons, talents, and cosmetics. The addition of a crafting system also provides you with the option to upgrade or re-roll the traits and properties of your items.

Drawbacks

Vermintide 2 has some minor drawbacks, such as the repetitive mission structure and the complete lack of skill-based matchmaking for its free Versus mode (which I suggest new players avoid).

Verdict

Overall, Vermintide 2 is a great co-op action game that delivers an excellent teamwork experience; the weapons and the many classes, with their unique talents and skills, provide a lot of re-playability and a generally high skill ceiling once you get to the highest difficulty. With its combat, visuals, and a good amount of content, it's definitely worth its price if you're after a cooperative PvE experience.

I have been playing this game since it came out in 2018, after playing the original Warhammer: Vermintide since it came out.
I understand that some people might find some issues with it when first downloading it, god knows I have sat through massive bugs and feature-breaking updates from Fatshark for the past 10 years...
HOWEVER, this is one of my top videogames of all time, and there are many reasons for it.
* I love playing this game with my friends, and we had rat-killing parties, with more or less frequency, non-stop since it came out.
* The characters are lovable AF, we all have our favourites and we work as a team, leaning on each other's strengths and laughing at our weaknesses. My fav is Markus the Mercenary and no matter how many new cool careers come up I just keep playing with him because he has 100% my style. The voice acting and banter between the characters is top tier.
* We loved the challenge of learning the maps, by losing again, and again, and again. Yep, it was frustrating to the max at the beginning, but there is something to the experience of losing at something so many times, that when you win it is a total ecstasy.
* Even when I don't play with my usual 4 people party, casually playing with other people can be fun, as you have to work as a team.
* When you keep playing this game for so long, each little new skin, new level, new mission that Fatshark puts out is like catching up with an old friend and seeing how they have grown and improved in their lives.
* Slaughtering rats in massive hordes is just super fun. Even the enemies have personalities and cool voice acting. (Not so much the Winds of Magic enemies, but *we don't talk about those* jokesssss)

Great PvE game but it gets boring quickly and there are a lot of cheaters in PvP.

I killed a lot of rats, then watched the ai hug a flame thrower. That did not end well, BUT when I played with actual people I had a very good time. Even if we were defeated we had a great time slaying rats of all kinds. We took no prisoners, and surrendering rats... well,,, they no longer exist. Only complaint with the game is the crazy amount of DLCs that it has. If you want to get them grab them on sale. They go on sale a lot throughout the year.

Contains one of the most well-developed, satisfying, and skill-respondent melee systems to be found in any game. The protagonists are likable, the variety in playstyle at high levels oftentimes feels limitless, the music is astonishing. Feels like home.

Amazing game in which you will end up having lots of fun. At first, the game might seem a bit hard if you are not used to this kind of games. But once you will get used to it, you will unlock its full potential and lots of fun!

Ricardo the gnome doesn't take this game seriously. But the story is great.

Very good game, fun, high replay value, great graphics. Seems easy at first but at higher levels requires skill and knowing the weapons and characters and when and how to use them. If you like to have 30 minutes of adrenaline-induced fun and then be able to leave and do other stuff, then this is great for you.

It also has people roleplaying in VOIP, which from experience
will turn any man flaccid at first sentence..

Great game minus the pvp free-lc

Vermintide 2 has a unique place in my heart.

When I was working two jobs and going through school, I still wanted to play a game from time-to-time. I couldn't invest a large amount of my day as I was on a tight schedule, so in-between papers, shifts, or the rare days off I had I could put 30 minutes into completing a run which helped with the satisfaction of seeing something through that was hard fought and well-earned.

Take what is being written into account of the fact that I was in a position where there was an itch scratched and Vermintide 2 was the niche that helped me get through some stressful times:

It's an incredibly well-crafted piece of media with streamlined and flowing narrative alongside the intense gameplay whilst working in a cooperative setting of 3 others or bots in glorious Warhammer gore with five memorable characters in an in-depth albeit light RPG aspect that is easy to learn but difficult to master mechanic.

Fatshark veers away from the lootbox craze that stirred the 10's with notorious gaming giants; however, remains fundamental to the gameplay loop with nigh infinite replayability with gear customization to help fit niches in group compositions.

Years post launch does Fatshark still balance between Darktide and Vermintide with updates, bug fixes, free content via Chaos Wastes along with the versus mode added recently as of this post.

Vermintide 2 should be of interest and one that would be considered. I recommend looking into being a part of this community.
