This game is great, but trying to collect tomes and grimoire in higher difficulty is near impossible because of how trash the AI is. Your ally AI are extremely bad meanwhile the game throws enemy specials with smart AI at you. Here are a list of gut wrenching awful behavior of your ally AI.
1. They get stuck and don't do anything at some areas. I got pawned by an assassin once and they sit there and do nothing.
2. If you decide to drop your tome to pick up an hp potion to heal yourself, a random AI will pick it up for you but that same AI will regularly drop theirs in favor of another hp potion and you may not realise it until its too late, ruining your perfect run.
3. You ally AIs are suicidal regardless of which class they are. Especially when they are carrying a god damn grimoire.
4. Speaking of getting stuck, sometimes they just stand there and take hits without fighting back.
5. Playing as a slayer is the worst in higher difficulty because slayers have no range weapons which means you have to rely on your AI to kill specials for you but here is the catch, even when you do tag the range specials, the AI will not shoot them but the game keep spawning flamethrowers non stop at you while your ally AI leave them be. Somehow, I keep getting flooded with way more flamethrower as a slayer than as any other class. So yea, super smart enemy AI vs your extremely dumb ally AI.
Unless you are using OP red equipments, trying to collect tomes and grimoire in champion or higher difficulty is just near impossible because of your ally AI.
love the game, love the community, love the graphics and sound effects, been grinding this game and found an amazing community in a 7 year old warhammer game, 10/10 would recommend my grandma
Warhammer: Vermintide delivers an absolutely thrilling experience for fans of both co-op gameplay and brutal melee combat. Set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe, the game drops you into the midst of an epic struggle where you and up to three friends fight to survive against waves of Skaven, Chaos, and other terrifying foes.
What makes Vermintide stand out is its intense, fast-paced combat. Whether you're swinging a massive hammer, slashing with a sword, or shooting from a distance, every action feels impactful and satisfying. The class variety ensures each character feels unique, with different abilities, weapons, and playstyles, so there's always something new to try.
The game’s levels are beautifully crafted, with detailed environments and dynamic, unpredictable combat. The AI Director keeps things fresh by constantly adjusting the difficulty and spawning enemies in unexpected ways. This makes every playthrough feel different, even if you’ve run the same mission before.
Vermintide’s co-op gameplay is another standout feature. The team-based mechanics encourage communication and coordination, whether you’re healing teammates, guarding chokepoints, or taking on massive bosses together. It's a game best enjoyed with friends, but the AI is solid enough to keep things engaging when playing solo.
With great combat, a rich setting, and endless replayability, Warhammer: Vermintide offers a gritty, action-packed adventure that fans of co-op and hack-and-slash games won’t want to miss.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 – A Bloody Good Time With Friends
If you love swinging swords, slashing through hordes of enemies, and yelling at your friends to please revive you already, then Warhammer: Vermintide 2 might just be your new favorite game. It might have its age, but it is hard to beat... Love to Chill in the Lobby One of the best Lobby on the same Lvl as Deep Rock Galactic
I’ve been playing it on Steam, and I’ve got to say—it’s an absolute blast. This is a game built for co-op mayhem. You and up to three friends pick from a group of gritty, battle-hardened heroes and dive headfirst into swarms of Skaven (gross rat people) and chaotic forces that never seem to let up. Each character feels unique, and the way they grow through careers and loot keeps things fresh, even after dozens of hours.
What makes it so good? The combat is so satisfying—meaty, weighty, and just the right amount of chaotic. Whether you’re a veteran of the Warhammer universe or totally new to it, you’ll find yourself quickly addicted to the rhythm of hack, dodge, block, repeat. And once you start learning how to combo with your team? Magic.
On top of the classic missions, there’s a new Versus Mode in development, where players can actually take control of the enemy side. It’s still evolving, but it adds a spicy twist to the usual formula and shows that Fatshark isn’t done with this game yet.
It’s not perfect—there’s a bit of a learning curve, and matchmaking can be a mixed bag if you’re solo—but if you’ve got even one or two friends to team up with, it’s pure gold. And even if you're solo, the bots do a decent job and the community can be surprisingly welcoming.
Final thoughts? If you enjoy co-op chaos, rewarding melee combat, and the occasional rat-exploding fireball, Vermintide 2 is 100% worth your time. Jump in—you’ll be covered in blood and grinning in no time.
This game is such a great game the atmosphere really gets me to feel like im in that world. The gore, customization, etc is all great too the only complaint i have for it which in reality is kinda a me problem is i get bored of it after awhile especially if i play it a lot, but other than i highly suggest this game especially if you like WarHammer.
It is a fun game if you have friends to fill the party, otherwise be prepared for the AI to get stuck on an invisible ledge, a ladder, the walls, or nothing at all. Solo players can expect a buggy mess that can stop runs, no matter how easy the difficulty is.
If you can get over the buggy AI, I recommend this game solo or in a party.
Absolute fun. Great to release pressure and forget everything else, at least for me
It is such an incredibly addictive game, absolute must have. Very fun.
Anti-cheat always ruins the fun. Can’t tell how many games I couldn’t join because easy anti-cheat “suspects” one or more instances of the game are being tampered with 🤦🏻♂️
This is the real malware embedded into the game for sure.
Also, got a “corrupted system files” error that kept me from playing for quiete some time. All in all this game has left me with a terrible first impression.
Love it. Co-op "shooter" (melee). Played only a week so far.
Pros:
- A variety of player characters (5 characters with 3/4 classes/careers each greatly defining the play style of that character).
- A variety of enemies (each having their various attack patterns and attributes like being armored or not (and which body parts are covered by armor), having a shield or not). The variety/mixture of different appearing in waves adds a lot of replayability.
- All dangerous enemies have sound queues for when they spawn, disappear and try to attack you.
- Great dialog between characters.
- Nice level design.
- This game is clearly a labor of love.
- Community. I haven't yet met unpleasant people among the strangers I played with.
- Many things have been inspired by the Left 4 Dead series, but in this game the attacks of all the elite enemies (half of which disable a character in some way) can be dodged and the enemies themselves can be killed with enough skill even on your own. The games is designed to help you by giving you audio queues on when those enemies spawn and when you are very likely to be attacked.
Cons:
- To really understand most of the game mechanics and your weapon attributes you have to turn to online guides or youtube videos. Very few things are actually explained.
- Directional sound is mediocre. In DRG for example you can tell very precisely which direction the sound comes from. Here you can mainly distinguish between left, center and right.
- Everything is very dark. I had to set gamma to maximum to prevent my eyes from hurting after game sessions.
Neutral:
- In this game the fighting is mostly done in melee. i, personally, don't like melee in 3D shooter games, but in this game they make it work and it contains quite a bit of complexity.
Very fun Medieval L4D style game in the Warhammer setting. I mostly played Foot Knight and had a blast playing one character and got to level 35 and I made sure to do every level solo. Still haven't got the max rare gear yet.
The Versus is very fun and have a fun versus that remind me a lot of L4D2 versus campaign. (unlike Back 4 Blood pvp that was god-awful) And playing as the rats is very fun.
Chaos Wastes is also very fun with it's rouge-like gameplay even tho I haven't beat it yet but I am looking to do more to see what's at the end.
Overall I like this game a lot and I very much recommend it.
It's a fast paced game I like that, what I dislike is that you, can't craft and upgrade your armour. I guess the developers didn't want to make it, that easy as you get healing potions in the game.
Left for dead type of game. Can return to it anytime and still be relevant.
Great game! Annoying to have the monetization BS. If you can stand all that monetization loops and daily quests crap - can easily recommend.
The Tide shall not sweep us away!
Easily the most fun WH game on here(Darktide dominates WH40K, miles ahead of Space Marine)
Rng makes each run unique and the melee combat mechanics leaves Skyrim(!) in the dust
Get this, you will not be disappointed. Unless you`re a bloody skaven
wow! co-op PvE is a blast. And it even fills it up with bots if need be, like with the weekly quest I did. Fast-paced, with the option of quick runs. I like the loot and craft system, it doesn't feel overwhelming. So far, I'd rate this excellent.
I've never played Warhammer games before, but this one has become one of my all-time favorites. It has one of the best communities out there, everyone's super friendly. I highly recommend it to literally everyone
horde killing game with depth and reasonable complexity. One of the best Co Op PVE game out there. it now has pvp too.
Super cool game. Very pretty graphics, even for an oldie. Repetitive gameplay loop, but a satisfying one. Meaningful progression of the player's skill to go from recruit to legend. Chaos mode is cool. Still have yet to try Winds of Magic :). My favorite weapon is the 2h warhammer!
Kerillian's design has very good lore implications, that's why i look at it all the time
If you love some Left 4 Dead in your Warhammer, this is worth the perpetual sale price of $5.99. However, this late Warhammer: Vermintide 2's lifecycle, I wouldn't pay the full $29.99. There were a few performance issues that required me to reinstall, but overall this is a smooth and enjoyable co-op PvE experience to enjoy with friends or strangers. PvP was added recently, but this isn't the type of game where you'll come or stay for that element.
This game is a fantastic fit for:
- Fans of Left 4 Dead or other horde-based co-op shooters: Vermintide 2 captures that same sense of overwhelming odds and desperate teamwork.
- Warhammer enthusiasts: The game is dripping with Warhammer lore and atmosphere, from the character dialogue to the enemy designs and environments.
- Players who enjoy challenging but fair gameplay: While the hordes can be relentless, mastering your chosen hero and coordinating with your team is key to success.
- Those looking for a replayable experience: With multiple careers per hero, a deep loot system, and various difficulty levels, there's always a reason to jump back in.
- Budget-conscious gamers: At its frequent sale price of $5.99 for the base game, it's an absolute steal for the amount of content and enjoyment on offer.
Consider skipping Vermintide 2 if:
- You have a low tolerance for melee-focused combat: While there are ranged options, the core gameplay revolves around getting up close and personal with your foes.
- You strongly prefer solo experiences: While technically playable solo with bots, the game is truly designed and best enjoyed with other players.
- You demand cutting-edge graphics and flawless performance out of the box: While generally a good-looking game, it's showing its age a bit, and as I experienced, initial performance can sometimes require a little troubleshooting.
[*]You absolutely must have the latest and greatest titles: Being a tad over seven years old, Vermintide 2 might be long in the tooth for some player.
A fun game with plenty of option to experiment with different characters, a multitude of weapons and play styles. Players pit against hordes of skaven rats and cultists in a variety of game modes where each player will find something they like. For those who like stories, there is a bunch of campaings with very long missions.
The missions themselves prove to be a challenge, with hordes of enemies coming in frequent waves. There is plenty to do and challenge yourself as you make your way through areas that have a very lived in look. The level design really stands out in this game and each and every level is well balanced with areas ladden with enemy mosh pits, where one has to really work their hands off to just stay alive. Team play is well implemented and there are plenty of options to join or receive players in our own sessions, which is almost flawless.
All in all, if you like the gritty look of the Warhammer Fantasy Battles universe, creating and/or dressing up you character to match your liking or simply enjoy mawing through hordes of enemies with your friends, you will definitely enjoy this game. Additionally, this game also features very nice graphics and is well optimised to run smoothly even on the highest level of details, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Buy it on a major discount only, to nickle and dimey to really enjoy the game, you will have to pay extra but I always refuse, the more forced the DLC the likely I am to buy it.
Great game. Feels like Lord of the Rings at times, but the world building and lore can stand on its own.
Highly recommend if you enjoy Left 4 Dead or other horde shooters. The melee combat in this game top tier and makes it far more engaging than other horde shooters.
Very fun PvE game. Buy this if you can't run Darktide (Please Fatshark, I want to play your games but I can't run them outside of the beta)
amazing game. different characters with different classes abilities builds weapons and movests. great for beginners and pro players whether solo or with party. mods are amazing as well
Loved this game so much playing with friends. Alone, not the best experience, but even then there are worse things to do with your time.
Absolutely great game for horde combat. Classes are fun characters have good banter. Still holds up really well in 2025.
i was a dwarf in this game and pooped out a potion for one of my friends, but someone else took it instead and then they died. then i went to grab an explosive barrel, but as soon as i picked it up, one of my teammates shot the barrel and i died.
High skill ceiling and expression. Periodic updates despite being so many years old.
Probably the best game in the genre since L4D. The characters really make this game fantastic.
This game fix my itch for Left for dead, but what if class focus in fantasy Medieval times.
played this game on and off for ages and i still keep coming back whenever i find myself having time. great game, would recommend
A fun Warhammer spin on the cooperative horde type genre as seen previously with Vermintide 1 and other games such as Left 4 Dead.
There's lots of customisation of classes and playstyle to work through and itemisation to keep you grinding if that's you're thing.
It can be a short but sweet experience. After a few repeats of each level, maybe at different difficulties, and completing the main acts, there's not much motivation to keep going.
L4D2 in Fantasy World with swords and magic. If you like the fantasy genre, this game can be tried. Fun to play both solo and party.
Vermintide 2 is really good game, i'd never thought i'm able to play first person shooters with melee fights. This game made enjoying fps games again. Can be a little bit annoying because they have problems with servers, in 65 hours i had few glitches, and they could change system where if host has disconnect you dont have to wait 2 minutes to join to other player of your team. Most people just leave in that situation and you basically lost whole progress. Beside of that Vermintide 2 gives you a challenging experience, building your career as you want and checks if it work on different difficulty levels. It is game for everybody, if you dont like challenge, you can stay with your friends or randoms and enjoy smashing rats, but if you enjoy challenge this game is even more for you.
-One of the best co-op melee games out there—combat is brutal and satisfying.
-The enemy variety keeps things interesting, and the AI director makes every run feel different.
-Solo play is possible but much harder; this game shines in co-op.
-Progression can feel grindy, but the combat is so fun that it’s worth it.
-Some difficulty spikes can be frustrating, especially with random teammates.
If you like Left 4 Dead-style co-op but with swords, magic, and Warhammer lore, this is a must-play.
looks so much better in the pictures on steam than what the actual gameplay is
I like game. With friends a lot fun, if friends. Like gunning with mouse character, my favorite. I love to k1LL big groups of €n€m1€$ all at once, when a good gaming day, sometimes multiple times to sh00t even one. It's okay. Sometimes better days, sometimes not. With friends easier, if friends. Good game 3/5, would recommend for a boring day joy. Enjoy!

Lots of content doesn't get old quick, Interesting story/lore.
Do not buy this game as of 3/29/2025.
They've butchered the game's graphics and neutered performance for the sake of Versus mode. Now everyone has to deal with crashes, terrible graphics and everything running and looking like literal sh!t because they couldn't be bothered to properly implement their new game mode. 0/10, a great game ruined.
This game is very interesting, but the launcher seems to have a problem with Windows 11 running slowly. I don't know if this is just my problem. Anyway, I recommend this game. It is very addictive.
Best of luck to your team.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 - A Thrilling Co-op Masterpiece
Rating: 9/10
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is a stunningly crafted cooperative action game that delivers intense combat, immersive environments, and a satisfying sense of progression. Developed by Fatshark, this first-person melee-focused game is set in the grimdark Warhammer Fantasy universe, where players face relentless hordes of Skaven and Chaos forces. It’s an excellent sequel to the original Vermintide, improving on nearly every aspect while introducing new mechanics and challenges.
Gameplay
The heart of Vermintide 2 lies in its visceral combat and teamwork. Players can choose from five unique heroes, each with three distinct career paths, offering a variety of playstyles. Whether you prefer slicing through hordes with a greatsword, sniping elites with a bow, or casting devastating spells, there’s something for everyone.
The combat feels incredibly satisfying, with weighty melee strikes and impactful ranged attacks. The game also introduces more enemy variety compared to its predecessor, including Chaos Warriors and Beastmen (in DLCs), which require teamwork and strategy to overcome. The difficulty scales well, rewarding skillful play while punishing mistakes.
Graphics & Atmosphere
The Warhammer Fantasy world comes to life with stunning visuals and detailed environments. From ruined cities to eerie forests, each map is atmospheric and filled with lore-rich details. The sound design is equally impressive, with chilling enemy growls and immersive ambient sounds that keep you on edge.
Progression & Replayability
One of the game’s strengths is its progression system. As you complete missions, you earn loot boxes that contain weapons, trinkets, and cosmetics. While some players might find the RNG-based loot system frustrating, it adds an addictive layer of replayability. The Chaos Wastes expansion introduces roguelite elements, offering randomized challenges that keep the gameplay fresh.
Co-op Experience
Vermintide 2 truly shines when played with friends or other players online. Communication and coordination are key to surviving higher difficulties. However, even solo players can enjoy the game thanks to competent AI companions.
DLCs & Community Support
Fatshark has consistently supported the game with new content, including maps, careers, and expansions like Winds of Magic and Chaos Wastes. Some DLCs are more impactful than others, but they collectively expand the game’s longevity.
Pros
Intense and satisfying melee combat
Diverse heroes and career options
Gorgeous visuals and atmospheric level design
High replayability with randomized challenges
Excellent co-op experience
Cons
RNG loot system can feel grindy
Steep learning curve for newcomers
Some DLCs feel overpriced for their content
Conclusion
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is a must-play for fans of cooperative action games or the Warhammer universe. Its thrilling combat, immersive world-building, and rewarding progression make it one of the best co-op experiences available today. Whether you’re slaying Skaven with friends or braving the Chaos Wastes on your own, this game offers countless hours of fun and challenge.
Highly recommended for fans of Left 4 Dead-style games or anyone who loves intense melee combat!
I may have developed an unhealthy relationship with this game but eh who cares? REPENT! REPENT! REPENT! BY SIGMAR, THE HAMMER AND THE EMPIRE!!
was worth the divorce 1000/10
One of the most satisfying melee combat systems I've ever played. Id recommend picking the game up on sale and getting the dlc characters and maps.
Great PVE gameplay when you feel like you need to crush some vermin. Best with friends, somewhat lacking when playing single player or matchmaking
Awesome game for friends to hang and chill out with. Great way to get people into warhammer and just have a blast!
Rats, rats, we're the rats
We prey at night, we stalk at night, we're the rats
I'm the giant rat that makes all of the rules
Let's see what kind of trouble we can get ourselves into
I remember the game having a ton of microtransactions and live-service-slop coupled with a seemingly lengthy grind that locks off content. Why would I want to invest so much time and money into a live-service-slopfest that isn't even free to play just so I can shell out more cash for DLCs? I am sure its cool if you like Warhammer as a Franchise. The game looks sounds and feels cool. but as a random passerbuy that's windowshopping - don't bother 'cause you can buy something much cheaper and get the same (or more) enjoyment.
