Very fun PvE game. Buy this if you can't run Darktide (Please Fatshark, I want to play your games but I can't run them outside of the beta)
amazing game. different characters with different classes abilities builds weapons and movests. great for beginners and pro players whether solo or with party. mods are amazing as well
Loved this game so much playing with friends. Alone, not the best experience, but even then there are worse things to do with your time.
Absolutely great game for horde combat. Classes are fun characters have good banter. Still holds up really well in 2025.
i was a dwarf in this game and pooped out a potion for one of my friends, but someone else took it instead and then they died. then i went to grab an explosive barrel, but as soon as i picked it up, one of my teammates shot the barrel and i died.
High skill ceiling and expression. Periodic updates despite being so many years old.
Probably the best game in the genre since L4D. The characters really make this game fantastic.
This game fix my itch for Left for dead, but what if class focus in fantasy Medieval times.
played this game on and off for ages and i still keep coming back whenever i find myself having time. great game, would recommend
A fun Warhammer spin on the cooperative horde type genre as seen previously with Vermintide 1 and other games such as Left 4 Dead.
There's lots of customisation of classes and playstyle to work through and itemisation to keep you grinding if that's you're thing.
It can be a short but sweet experience. After a few repeats of each level, maybe at different difficulties, and completing the main acts, there's not much motivation to keep going.
L4D2 in Fantasy World with swords and magic. If you like the fantasy genre, this game can be tried. Fun to play both solo and party.
Vermintide 2 is really good game, i'd never thought i'm able to play first person shooters with melee fights. This game made enjoying fps games again. Can be a little bit annoying because they have problems with servers, in 65 hours i had few glitches, and they could change system where if host has disconnect you dont have to wait 2 minutes to join to other player of your team. Most people just leave in that situation and you basically lost whole progress. Beside of that Vermintide 2 gives you a challenging experience, building your career as you want and checks if it work on different difficulty levels. It is game for everybody, if you dont like challenge, you can stay with your friends or randoms and enjoy smashing rats, but if you enjoy challenge this game is even more for you.
-One of the best co-op melee games out there—combat is brutal and satisfying.
-The enemy variety keeps things interesting, and the AI director makes every run feel different.
-Solo play is possible but much harder; this game shines in co-op.
-Progression can feel grindy, but the combat is so fun that it’s worth it.
-Some difficulty spikes can be frustrating, especially with random teammates.
If you like Left 4 Dead-style co-op but with swords, magic, and Warhammer lore, this is a must-play.
looks so much better in the pictures on steam than what the actual gameplay is
I like game. With friends a lot fun, if friends. Like gunning with mouse character, my favorite. I love to k1LL big groups of €n€m1€$ all at once, when a good gaming day, sometimes multiple times to sh00t even one. It's okay. Sometimes better days, sometimes not. With friends easier, if friends. Good game 3/5, would recommend for a boring day joy. Enjoy!

Lots of content doesn't get old quick, Interesting story/lore.
Do not buy this game as of 3/29/2025.
They've butchered the game's graphics and neutered performance for the sake of Versus mode. Now everyone has to deal with crashes, terrible graphics and everything running and looking like literal sh!t because they couldn't be bothered to properly implement their new game mode. 0/10, a great game ruined.
This game is very interesting, but the launcher seems to have a problem with Windows 11 running slowly. I don't know if this is just my problem. Anyway, I recommend this game. It is very addictive.
Best of luck to your team.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 - A Thrilling Co-op Masterpiece
Rating: 9/10
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is a stunningly crafted cooperative action game that delivers intense combat, immersive environments, and a satisfying sense of progression. Developed by Fatshark, this first-person melee-focused game is set in the grimdark Warhammer Fantasy universe, where players face relentless hordes of Skaven and Chaos forces. It’s an excellent sequel to the original Vermintide, improving on nearly every aspect while introducing new mechanics and challenges.
Gameplay
The heart of Vermintide 2 lies in its visceral combat and teamwork. Players can choose from five unique heroes, each with three distinct career paths, offering a variety of playstyles. Whether you prefer slicing through hordes with a greatsword, sniping elites with a bow, or casting devastating spells, there’s something for everyone.
The combat feels incredibly satisfying, with weighty melee strikes and impactful ranged attacks. The game also introduces more enemy variety compared to its predecessor, including Chaos Warriors and Beastmen (in DLCs), which require teamwork and strategy to overcome. The difficulty scales well, rewarding skillful play while punishing mistakes.
Graphics & Atmosphere
The Warhammer Fantasy world comes to life with stunning visuals and detailed environments. From ruined cities to eerie forests, each map is atmospheric and filled with lore-rich details. The sound design is equally impressive, with chilling enemy growls and immersive ambient sounds that keep you on edge.
Progression & Replayability
One of the game’s strengths is its progression system. As you complete missions, you earn loot boxes that contain weapons, trinkets, and cosmetics. While some players might find the RNG-based loot system frustrating, it adds an addictive layer of replayability. The Chaos Wastes expansion introduces roguelite elements, offering randomized challenges that keep the gameplay fresh.
Co-op Experience
Vermintide 2 truly shines when played with friends or other players online. Communication and coordination are key to surviving higher difficulties. However, even solo players can enjoy the game thanks to competent AI companions.
DLCs & Community Support
Fatshark has consistently supported the game with new content, including maps, careers, and expansions like Winds of Magic and Chaos Wastes. Some DLCs are more impactful than others, but they collectively expand the game’s longevity.
Pros
Intense and satisfying melee combat
Diverse heroes and career options
Gorgeous visuals and atmospheric level design
High replayability with randomized challenges
Excellent co-op experience
Cons
RNG loot system can feel grindy
Steep learning curve for newcomers
Some DLCs feel overpriced for their content
Conclusion
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is a must-play for fans of cooperative action games or the Warhammer universe. Its thrilling combat, immersive world-building, and rewarding progression make it one of the best co-op experiences available today. Whether you’re slaying Skaven with friends or braving the Chaos Wastes on your own, this game offers countless hours of fun and challenge.
Highly recommended for fans of Left 4 Dead-style games or anyone who loves intense melee combat!
I may have developed an unhealthy relationship with this game but eh who cares? REPENT! REPENT! REPENT! BY SIGMAR, THE HAMMER AND THE EMPIRE!!
was worth the divorce 1000/10
One of the most satisfying melee combat systems I've ever played. Id recommend picking the game up on sale and getting the dlc characters and maps.
Great PVE gameplay when you feel like you need to crush some vermin. Best with friends, somewhat lacking when playing single player or matchmaking
Awesome game for friends to hang and chill out with. Great way to get people into warhammer and just have a blast!
Rats, rats, we're the rats
We prey at night, we stalk at night, we're the rats
I'm the giant rat that makes all of the rules
Let's see what kind of trouble we can get ourselves into
I remember the game having a ton of microtransactions and live-service-slop coupled with a seemingly lengthy grind that locks off content. Why would I want to invest so much time and money into a live-service-slopfest that isn't even free to play just so I can shell out more cash for DLCs? I am sure its cool if you like Warhammer as a Franchise. The game looks sounds and feels cool. but as a random passerbuy that's windowshopping - don't bother 'cause you can buy something much cheaper and get the same (or more) enjoyment.
fun, fast paced. Games alittle older now but what does that matter just means that there is TONS of content.
I love squad Co-op games and this is check all the boxes
Great game, it uses the same formula as left 4 dead but with more mechanics. 10/10
Still the best version of a Left 4 Dead style game. Even after all this time the developers are still adding content too
From hack n' slashing to spell casting this game has a lot of different play style options and a bunch of customization.
Verses sucks, low player base constant disconnects and people ditch teamates constantly. More so on the player base than the creator. This community sucks.
This game used to be a lot of fun and was working, even with some flaws, great overall.
For whatever reason, Fatshark decided to add some stuff like Versus mode (which for sure can be fun for some ppl) and therefore broke the game to a level where I decided to write this review after over 1150 hours.
The base game (co-op mode) is what its about, which a lot of veterans (and also new players) play since years due to its challenges, varied encounters, great heroes (and careers), the atmosphere and of course the style of a great Warhammer game.
But as said earlier, whatever they changed ruined the game experience for me and prbly others as well due to feedback i read in the chat of game sessions. As an example I met a guy a few days back which came back after over a year to the game. And i typed how wonky the game became because of some stupid sh** that happened (more following) and he just said: "right?" so that he wondered the same what it became.
The desync and behaviour of some attacks and foes have became so ridiculous, that you just can make jokes or memes of it. Enemies rubber banding around corners, Monsters throw you out of the map (through terrain), stuff that you usually really know how to do (attack patterns, dodges and what so ever) became feel random and wonky.
Beside of the disaster of the new "Anti Cheat" they integrated because of Versus which caused just more problems like random connection losses, ages for ppl to join games, crashes, mod incompatibility and so on.
Just a side note, the player base is still looks the same since years, no difference if Versus mode or not.
Also to mention, that widely reported bugs which are in the base game for years don't get fixed...
I mean, if the game would become harder or whatsoever, that would be fine. But all the mentioned things make it just frustrating to continue play the game on higher difficulties.
If you die or whole team wipes because of mistakes, that's fine. We almost always make fun of it and easy can admit when mistakes happen. But when a party wipes because of the mentioned behaviour, it just makes you want to uninstall the game honestly and wait until Fatshark sorts their things.
Due to the way they work (like over a year for a weapon pack) or the Darktide situation, where stuff still not in the game since launch (around 3 years) which was promised, I don't have much hope.
It is just sad that they broke a game which worked and was fun as mentioned and had a solid player base over almost 7 years.
So yea, that was what ruined it for me after 1150 hours.
No hard feelings in that. I appreciated the free content they added in the last years. I also own every single DLC and almost any cosmetic. Just to share.
+ if your tired of the state of modern games buy the base game it is insanely fun the combat pace is break neck but enjoyable, you can actually turn the enemy spawn up to 300 at a time from the settings menu and you should.
- they locked the highest difficulty and best weapons behind dlc pay walls which is a big turn off even if they are affordable
A fun and addicting horde shooter? (well its melee base so), anyways its fun, challenging and worth to buy the base game.
gooog
Get a half competent friend to play with you, the bots are sorta braindead. But other than that, this is one of the best online coop thing I have played in years.
I came over from darktide during our usual content dry spell and man, although I do believe that darktide's combat is the best bar none. The missions in this game are simply fantastic. I met an autismo wizard on here the other day and he was showing me some of the secrets that your levels had to offer and it was blowing me away. Fantastic job. Also Saltzspire go brrrr.
This game came out in a bad state of course but if you haven't played it by now, you're missing one of the best experiences in gaming, period. Game is a MUST PLAY if you're a fan of the Left4Dead series(which is what the gameplay of WV2 builds off of) or a fan of Warhammer Fantasy.
I have played this game off and on for years now. The "chunky" melee combat is my favorite thing about this game. also the "champions" are very unique and each one feels and plays very differently in combat. IMO this a great game.
I never review a game, but really, this game is amazing. The sound, the skill cap, the satisfaction from slaying vermin. The biggest issue i have though is the constant disconnects from lobbies even though my internet is fine
Still a buggy mess after so many years post release. Game doesn't save your key bindings and force you to reconfigure your settings every time you launch. Objectives that cannot be completed because the game refuses to register an object. Not to mention incredibly stupid game design like making you roleplay sisyphus by making the main objective be- carry a barrel of explosives while the game firing a barrage of tracking projectiles that appears from thin air in your face that causes the barrel to explode and respawning the barrel to make you repeat this task over and over. To whoever designed this rat piece of shit mission: well done, you deserve the least competent gaming developer award.
If you don't have friends who play the game it's pointless. Good luck finding someone through matchmaking system. I mean you can find one or two players to join the team but expect bots in each game.
Otherwise it's a fun title.
Todays update included removal of the existing anticheat and moved to Epic Online Services. Epic online services does not work for me. This has broken the non modded game for me.
Another game including this garbage without any warning to their playerbase.
Lots of content in 2025, and this older game still looks and runs great. The three modes are a trio of excellent co-operative experiences for up to 4 friends.
The game is super cheap and I have a lot of fun killing rats. Get it if you enjoy melee combat focused games.
Pros
- Beautiful maps and skyboxes.
- Voice acting is colourful and funny.
- Fantastic variety of weapons and classes.
- Chaos Wastes is something that Darktide doesn't have.
Criticisms
- Having only one character at any given lobby is a mood killer.
- Host migration is such a terrible system.
- Elitist community.
- Jank blocking/stun sometimes. You'll stab a rat and somehow his attack will hit you immediately after.
Very good game, kinda dead tho so expect to at least try missions by yourself
I didn't play this game until it was like 6 years old or something (I just recently started a few months ago) and there's so much well-made beautiful content. The runs are fun, the pvp is okay although I'm not into it much, and the chaos wate roguelite mode is also pretty sick. all in all one of my favorite games currently and highly reccomend
Very fun game. I dont even feelt like gaming much lately but this one been keeping me coming back. Seems to have a fair amount of replayability.
I do wish the story is a little bit longer for the future one, as a lot of the replayability and game modes seem more fit for when I was younger and liked grinding, as opposed to something more varied. But on sale, it's a steal.
Vermintide 2 takes the Left 4 Dead formula and cranks up the chaos, replacing zombies with waves of Skaven and Chaos warriors in an intensely satisfying melee-focused co-op experience. The combat is some of the best in any first-person melee game—every swing, chop, and spell cast feels weighty, with blood-soaked action that never gets old. Each of the five heroes has multiple career paths, offering tons of replayability as you refine your builds and weapon choices. Teamwork is key, and when you and your squad are coordinating perfectly, slicing through hordes with precision, the game reaches a level of co-op excellence few others can match.
Even years after release, Vermintide 2 remains one of the best co-op games out there, with continued updates and a dedicated player base. The difficulty can be punishing, and some missions feel overwhelming without good coordination, but if you’re looking for a game that rewards skill, teamwork, and a love for brutal combat, this is absolutely worth picking up—especially on sale.
The horde shooter named Warhammer: Vermintide II, is one of the best horde shooters of all time, surpassing it's competition in nearly all categories. While some may argue that Left For Dead 2 is superior with it's various game modes and well-developed versus mode, Warhammer: Vermintide II more than makes up for it with it's large variety of unique missions, spanning from defensive holdouts to large scale treks across battlefields. Warhammer: Vermintide II has a plethora of unique mechanics that set it above and beyond similar horde shooters, and it's fun and intriguing character interactions make the games replay value even better.
