It’s good and dandy, especially if you’re into playing Empire or Greenskins—but let’s be real, the party’s moved on to Total War: Warhammer III. At this point, $60 for what’s essentially a faction pack feels a bit much. Still solid, but they really should drop the price.
this games fantastic i think 1 and 2 have infinite replay ability. dont let these hours fool you ive played too many hours on a ship out at sea which wont be recorded.
I may be bad at this game but it's still very fun, and a good way to enjoy Warhammer without going bankrupt buying plastic models
similar to medieval, rome, shogun, etc
Lots of attention to detail. A variety of options from campaign to pvp to custom against CPU
Good but way overpriced for old game.
First part of epic Total War: Warhammer sets the stage for an epic fantasy strategy experience, mixing the deep tactical combat the Total War series is known for with the rich, lore-heavy world of Warhammer Fantasy. The introduction of factions like the Empire, Dwarfs, and Greenskins gives players a diverse range of playstyles to dive into, each with its own strengths, weaknesses, and flavor. The real-time battles are fantastic, full of the chaos and carnage you’d expect from a fantasy setting, with massive armies clashing in beautifully detailed environments. One of the standout features is the Legendary Lords, powerful leaders with unique skills and quests that add depth to the campaign and make each faction feel distinct.
The game’s world is engaging, and while the campaign map can feel a bit limited, it offers enough variety to keep you entertained for hours. There’s a learning curve, especially for newcomers to Total War, but once you get the hang of it, the game’s mix of tactical depth and large-scale strategy is immensely satisfying. The feeling of commanding your troops in massive battles is unparalleled, and the satisfaction of conquering new territories and expanding your empire is incredibly rewarding. If you're a fan of tactical strategy games and fantasy lore, Total War: Warhammer 1 is an excellent introduction to the series.
I think the whole series would have double the community if it wasn't for the cash grab. Wouldn't doubt it if the devs have one of those mobile games people get addicted to and spend thousands of dollars on.
Takes some time to learn but so worth it
I love the gameplay
Played for literally five minutes an uninstalled. Abysmal health bar stat focused gameplay that has no correlation with military tactics or battlefield strategy, other than grouping enemies up to die to magic. Plays like a bad card game, and runs like crap. No impact on infantry clashes, and way too much DLC.
Amazing, well balanced old school game, originator, the base for those successes that came after.
I recommend it.
just another games workshop moneygrab. gotta buy a lot of DLCs to get more factions.
just disgusting business practice like always. played 1h and got bored as hell!
DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP!
A good classic that's amazing!
Total War: WARHAMMER combines grand strategy with pure, unfiltered fantasy chaos. You can lead mighty legions into battle, summon actual dragons, and then lose an entire campaign because some random ratmen decided to appear in your backyard. Every battle is a glorious mess, and every campaign ends with you cursing Chaos for ruining everything.
The Warhammer Highlights:
✅ Giant monsters and magic spells that turn the battlefield into a disaster zone
✅ Orks get stronger by fighting, meaning failure only makes them angrier
✅ The Empire has guns, but that doesn’t stop them from getting bodied by literal skeletons
✅ The Vampire Counts don’t need economy—just an infinite supply of zombies
✅ Diplomacy exists, but let’s be real, you’re just here for war
The Grimdark Struggles:
🔹 You will lose entire armies to one angry dwarf with a book of grudges
🔹 Elves have infinite archers and zero friends
🔹 Chaos WILL destroy your empire, no matter how well things are going
🔹 Orcs declare war just for fun, even if it means running into certain death
10/10 – Would lose a city to ratmen that exist in second game.
first big total war games, every faction is different game, but it's too overwhelming for me, but still best complicated total war released ever
This game is super worth it to buy if you would like to get into war hammer series, although, some race cannot be use if you're not paying for the DLC such as wood elves, beastman and it is really expensive just to buy DLC separately . However, It is still a great strategy game, would recommend buying if it's on sale
Since you have to buy Warhammers I and II in order to utilize their content in the full IE campaign with Warhammer III, I'm adding this same negative review to each installment to warn would-be purchasers of the potential risk:
Have played and enjoyed this series from the first installment. Unfortunately, since sometime late last year, thousands of players have been reporting crashes/freezes on the campaign map. It's quite strange as the battles run fine, but these campaign interruptions are constant and make the game unplayable.
You can go on CA's support forum right now to see report after report regarding this issue. Until CA makes their game playable again (or at least acknowledges what's going on and indicates an intent to fix), it's gotta be a negative review. I'll come back to swap the review positive if/when they ever get it working (it's a terrific game when it works!).
If you're thinking of buying, make sure you test out some campaign matches within your first two hours so you're able to return it if necessary. For many, though obviously not all, this game is currently a big fat brick.
Great Game
it's good and all, but the party has moved on to Total Warhammer III at this point. It's good if you want to play Empire or Greenskins or whatever but they really should drop the price on this one, $60 for what's basically become a faction pack is a little nuts
cool but
It's ok i guess.
make peace treaties and when they let down their guard attack them.. good game
Me play dwarf i shoot giant dinosaur i happy
Great Game
If ya like total war, it's total war.
If ya like warhammer, it's warhammer.
bro the introductions or tutorials whatever you wanna call em are horrible, tells you the bare minimum then leaves you to die and then keeps telling you your getting fucked in the ass, i spent an hour trying to assinate heroes harassing my city trying to figure out vampiric corruption and all i got was a old useless fool bitching at me to lay siege
Garbage monetisation practice
good
great
Absolute amazing.
it fun but the second game is better
long learning curve but worth it, and not nearly as complicated as it will seem at first. you'll feel kinda dumb for being so confused. even with total war warhammer 3 out, this still holds up and the DLC works with all of em.
it was great when it came out but TTW2 is better and this one is used as a DLC.
I wish there was a better voting system on steam than thumbs up and down cuz this one stays in the middle but we haven't.
it should NOT be full priced anymore and seen as a new game but an old one and properly priced for it's age.
Peak strategy gaming
good game
Enjoyable.
fun challenging replayable
Easy to pick-up with the Dwarf campaign, great variety of units with all DLCs included which for some will be the main issue.
Best first turn based strategy experience i believe i could've had.
Game was the centre of my childhood and ive loved it
this is one of the best games in have every played
I lost 2 of my cities and then I was gang raped by vampires and short men I hope the devs die of black lung
Years later and this still constantly crashes. It's fun when it works but most of the time it doesn't work.
Game doesn't run on steam deck. Steam won't refund. Save your money
It's a total war game, it's a fantasy adaptation, handles it well enough.
The AI is horrible and doesnt care if whatever it does makes any lick of sense. These games are not the best way to experience the Warhammer OW story.
I still have no idea what I'm doing, but every time I do something it's badass.
Great game, but shitty port to mac, sometimes u need spend up to 15-20 mins to launch the game couse it usually stuck on a loading screen
