When this game was first released I was convinced I was going to love it. But I just never could get into it at all.
The online is VERY hard and mostly you just get 2v1 match-ups and you basically cannot win those.
Chivalry is more my style for an online melee combat game.
5/10
This game was made by people who only want to see the world burn. Every time I play this game, it makes me suicidal. Constant bugs, glitches and delayed game response. Not to mention the community is ass, worst community ever. Do I still play it though? Yes.
Extremely fun and thusly time consuming. I just wish they had an off-line mode or at the very least the story should be playable off-line. I am extremely excited to be playing this handheld so I can have the hero progression I’ve always dreamt of. Not being tethered to a television the sky is the limit, but beware the online functionality is not the best.
Ubisoft ruined this game, I'm bout yap but the short and long of it is that Its now a soulless cash grab where new characters get brand new op mechanics that break the game and are conveniently priced so you have to spend real money if you don't wanna make it your new 9-5.
I had the game on ps4 since it first came out, I played it bunch until they started making new heroes. I would hop on week here or there, every-time i would get on the multiplayer would get worse. The story mode is the same as its been the whole time which I rate 7/10 probably just for nostalgia mostly.
It was better on release day then it is right now, not worth buying unless your nostalgic for the story mode because you've played it before. Don't even bother playing multiplayer unless this is the only game you play. They add new characters with insanely overpowered mechanics lock then behind a paywall. A long range guard break was first, then a move that punishes parrying with no counter-play other then giving up parrying and letting them light spam you to death, meta is awful. Arcade is joke too. Grey missions are cake, but god forbid you turn it up one and now I have the 3 of most op heroes, AI turned up harder then realistic campaign triple buffed all aggro off rip and regenerating, like do y'all not understand that you slowing ramp up the difficultly. The characters used to move smoothly, they would swing the sword around to the other side to attack, now they just have them start the attack animation instantly from the other side so there is no time to react, if you don't live on top of a server your cooked.
Only thing they could do to salvage is make a mode for the only 12 og heros.and bans the others
This game is so buns do buy it. Cross progression is not supported it is just more ubisoft trash.
Such a cool game with a really interesting concept. Unfortunately the multiplayer (90% of the game) is horrifically bad in practice.
Ive played through the campaign multiple times on the hardest difficulty, its fun as hell even if the story is weak and unsatisfying. If you play this do yourself the favor of pretending that's all there is.
Pls don't let this game die. It is too special. There is no other game like this. Ppl are complaining about broken matchmaking but that's because there's less than 10k players left and a daily max of 5k players on steam (avg 2800 at one time). It's insane that they're still updating this game but I'm glad they are. I suck at comp games but I still love it
Dated game but still the best combat style. Wish a new game would release with a similar concept as this one. Biggest complaint is servers, which is why a newer game would release. Otherwise a fun game with a great combat system and wide range of heroes.
Nice to see this game hasn't changed much in the last few since i stopped playing and switched from console to PC.
this is the worst fucking game ive ever played
get it 100%
its actually so fun
until it isnt
fuck shinobi
Dont try this game. This is why. Broken matchmaking, As a new player u will definetley go against veteran players. There are plenty of unbalanced heroes that will lightspam you to death, and u cant do jack s*** about that. Every match atleast one lightspammer. THERE IS NO HONOR IN THIS GAME, dont be fair if everything is unfair. After 8 years, this game is still a horsesh**, In dominion (most played gamemode) u´re getting killed only by feats. And after 8 years they still havent listened to comunity. There isnt any good buffs or debufs. OP characters are getting even more OP. And they are nerfing the weak ones. And after more then 225 hours on this game, I would never recommend this game to anyone that doesnt want to fucking shoot themselves in the fucking face. , and you get disconnected from a match, without getting your hard earned XP and coins. so i dont forget, changing appearance costs not just scraps, but also steels. That is hard earned currency, that is also expensive as f***. And also u have to buy new characters for that currency.
for honor in general is a really fun game, its controls are easy to learn, and the graphics are incredible. however this game has the WORST startup issues, they are so bad that ubisoft couldn't even identify if i owned the game or not, TWICE. i got to play this game for about eight hours before i completely gave up even trying to fix it, and in those eight hours, i had to remake an account twice. another thing is that the defense mechanism in this game is the worst out of every fighting game i have ever played. it takes almost two seconds for the opponents weapon to collide with your weapon, shield etc and even when you block at the perfect time your character just drops the weapon down and you get hit. dont waste your money on this game i would not Recommend it.
This game is more of a addiction than anything else. ubisoft fails time and time again balancing the game and characters. on top of that probably one of the most toxic player base you probably will ever see. if your thinking about getting this game save your self and don't.
Solid game, it gets harder and harder as you play. If you like to play games to slowly master them, this is the game for you. Very polished, while not perfect.. the last 2 to 3 years of patches have shown me that the devs are genuinely trying to make it better given the constrains given by Ubi. A must play if your a fn of sword games.
The devs feel to scared to do fundamental QoL and Balancing changes for characters who are overtuned. Hopefully after they run more competetive content again the pros can be loud enough to say hey can yall fix the blaring issues. also can we PLEASE get single pick in 4v4s, the roster is large enough that if someone doesnt know more than one character they are either brand new or stubborn and should be learning several characters anyway. I have been playing this game since beta on console and only started pc cause crossplay (there is no cross save and there SHOULD BE) cause my console cannot keep up hardware wise.
It is a great game with such a unique and fun combat system, but its owned by such an awful company that couldnt care less for the game
Best sword fighting in any game ever, just wish the rest of the game could be considered as good. I only enjoy the 1v1 and 2v2 modes, the rest is kinda bland aimlessly swinging.
but the fighting and cosmetics alone are worth playing the game for
Honestly, stick this combat in a 1/2 player per team battle royal, and we're hype. running across the battlefield fighting anyone you can find in a medieval setting of castles and vast landscapes. no long range headshots, just swords and hand to hand combat. Not sure why they havent done this tbh
Been playing this game since it's day one release on console... then bought it again later on pc.. It's a fantastic medieval fighting game with the best control scheme for this kind of game out of any I have played..
The bad thing is it's ubicrap. So they keep doing ubicrap things.. like making all the new characters gay looking or girl bosses.. The only good characters they have are the characters from the first two seasons before ubi went ultra woke.. Also, the vast majority of all the characters in the beginning allowed you to choose a male or female version of said character.. Now they keep gender locking the characters and the only decent ones they make are women.. No thanks.. I think all the original designers must be gone now and maybe they only got women creating characters or something, but.. thankfully they still have the original characters which are great..
So, all that said.. it's still a great game if you can pick it up on sale it's worth it. Player base is smaller now since it's been out for so long but there still is a decent enough amount of people online to have fun with it. Just have to stick to dominion game mode or duels. So I'm still gonna give it a thumbs up despite ubicrap trying to ruin it...
I've lost more hours in this game than I'd like to admit. For me this has become a game I play to turn my brain off, put it on to not think about something or have an audiobook/podcast on in the background. The main appeal for me with For Honor is as a fashion simulator and I am not even joking. I love unlocking gear and outfitting my heroes. Since this is how I play this game this is what I recomend it for: background entertainment and dressup sim. So if you look for something else in a game like this, sorry this review won't help much.
after a few thousand hours (not exclusively on pc) i can safely say
Oh, what an absolute masterpiece! Truly, this game is the pinnacle of human achievement. I can't even begin to describe how it has enhanced my life in ways I never thought possible. The sheer joy of spending hours upon hours on this work of art is something I’ll cherish forever every second of excruciating frustration was like a mental spa retreat. I’ve developed a whole new level of psychological clarity from it, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a game to sit back and relax after a days work. This game is therapy, it's truly amazing. I love you Ubisoft.
10/10
This is one of the most underrated Ubisoft games of all time in my opinion. The game is truly skill based and has a huge learning curve but once you learn the core mechanics of the game it is only up from there. If you can't learn to adapt to each fight 1v1 2v2 or 4v4s you will not succeed in this game...
This is one of the Greatest Games Ever! Mark my words!
Had it on pre-order back in the days on PS4. It was mind blowing back then.
I don't see any negatives in the actual game and gameplay. I had blast playing tourneys and early ranked stuff, when servers weren't that good. When we had only 3 factions with 4 combatants if I'm correct.
"Never a game felt so balanced" - this is my 1 sent I give to all my people who asked me about the game.
I do learn from my mistakes and practice, but I NEVER EVER felt weak or super strong. Everyone can get the win and that's all that matters. (well ofc if you don't know fundamentals, you will be pinned and fk on every corner of the map, but just keep learning - IT PAYS OFF)
There's only one downside of the game - small move list, which misleads noobs that the game is easy. Yup, it's easy to learn, hard to master.
But this forever me one if not the best fighting game.(And I did rly played lots of them).
I'd definitely would recommend it to others. The gameplay is fantastic and the amount of skill required is a good amount.
I love this game i have many hours on it xbox is where i used to play it mostly i cant seem to play it as much do to no cross progression i really love this game but i wish they had the ability to cross progress. Rainbow six siege has it why doesnt for honor? Ubisoft please add this to For Honor i want my exclusive stuff back along with all the customization
Unable to Change Language in For Honor - Terrible Customer Support
Review:
I purchased For Honor almost three years ago, but I was unable to play it properly because the game is only available in Russian. I don't understand Russian, and as a result, I can't enjoy the game.
After multiple attempts to contact Ubisoft Support, I was told that since I bought the Russian version, I cannot change the language, and I would have to buy a new version of the game. This is completely unreasonable, especially since I already paid for the game.
Ubisoft's customer support has been unhelpful and unresponsive to my issue. They simply pointed me to a link that did not resolve anything and did not offer any meaningful solutions. I find it frustrating that after all this time, there is no option for players to change the language in their purchased games.
This experience has been extremely disappointing, and I will not recommend buying games from Ubisoft again if this is how they treat their customers.
for honor is the worst game ever created, the creators are ok, but the players are the absolute worst of society. there is no honor in this game people are fucking assholes and deserve an eternity of suffering.
Great pain but Great fun also. But mostly pain.
If you are a solo gamer look away this game is utter torture alone rather suffer with your friends.
I understand why for honor has not been looked upon favorably since its release, But the core of the game in my opinion is very fun, and theres nothing else like it. Even tho sometimes this game makes me so mad it makes me want to turn a homeless guys head into red paste but thats alright thats ok.
This game is an addiction you won't be able to sate: the game is fun, sure, but the rage that it can cause is a very specific type of rage... And everytime you think you got away, they reel you back in.
Ubisoft multiplayer games are terrible and servers are even worse. 40 dollars makes me cringe.
Majority of game mechanics don't function in the game so the gameplay is mostly just hack and slash with zero brainpower.
This game has a lot of potential BUT...
The matchmaking is completely random (if you are new you can play against veteran players).
You can get disconnected from a game without anyway to comeback.
The HEROES are not balanced at all (not only new ones).
....so overall if you happen to get the game on discount you should try it. But remember, this game is 8 years old and UBISOFT DOESN'T G-I-V-E A S-H-I-T!
Year 1-4 player here. The game was good in the start bc the characters were simple, but hard to master and nowadays you have new characters that just have too much variety in their moveset and the old characters are not great because they are so simple. This game sucks new players if you play the game ignore all of the chacters after year 4.
This game is very unbalanced in terms of matchmaking. Also i always often got error disconnected when i almost end the match.
absolutely horrible game but i cant stop playing it
game is fucking ass u will get white hair. there is a reason it is dead
Steam is so much better than Ubisoft Client, like holy bro. Game is highly demanding in mentality since you need to read other players moves, as easy as that could sound to most people, it ain't. Gotta be a different breed or built different if you wanna win matches. A warrior. A man. (heada**)
I just don't know what to do. Whenever I play a game of any mode, the objective is always unclear. Do I just kill other players? A bit of text in the corner telling me what to do (in multiplayer mode) would be useful. Also, I die a lot and I only get about 1 kill per match, which is not fun. I completed the battle tutorial twice and still nothing. I tried to complete the second level of the single player campaign but it just keeps telling me to capture zones and does not capture them when I enter them. Campaign is unplayable and multiplayer is confusing.
worst game ever. i have 900+ hours on console. please add cross-prog
I have over 1,000 hours on Console. This game is one of the most interesting and infuriating all at the same time, I just hope Ubisoft doesn't stop supporting it
shit game honestly, would be nice if there wasnt like one fucking gimmick per character that you spam and win and if you do literally anything else you get steamrolled, go play guitar hero for similar gameplay with less toxicity and frustration
Great game. It isn't for the weak tho. Not hard to learn. There are some characters I'll never use because they're simply broken. But overall, I love this game.
Perhaps the most addictive and rage inducing combat game I've played.
at 9yrs and going, this game is still adding heros to choose from and customize while constantly adjusting balances and movesets to ensure a fairer approach to the battlefield while still keeping to the unique diversity of warriors and fighters across historical eras. that said, the story mode has not been updated to reflect the capabilities in combat as you can in arcade mode or online.
Ive introduced dozens of friends to this game, and the number one barrier is the steep learning curve and familiarizing yourself with the mechanics and movesets.
most matches will consist of watching your character be executed mercilessly over and over again. Others, you'll feel like a god as you cut everyone down. is it brutal and likely to result in broken controllers, tvs, and hatred for living? yes. is it worth it? YES.
the tutorial and ingame guides are terrible and dont explain anything but the basics of combat, watch a utube vid. outside of that the game is great.
Don't know if the matchmaking is so bad because it's an old game and low player base but in 2025 it's too dead to get a nice matchmaking so you'll probably just throw your controller out the window because you are just starting out and you'll get shat on by someone with 4k hours. Otherwise a nice game.
Look, the game is somewhat fun. I've played on and off since the Jormungandr event a while, while back, and it's a unique experience that you can't find anywhere else. But with how Ubisoft's looking at the moment, I cannot advice anyone to spend money to buy the game, or anything inside of it, until we're sure the game has a future beyond Ubi's financial woes. Looking at how they removed The Crew from people's libraries and outright state you don't own their games, there is a risk that For Honor could, in this year or the next, disappear entirely with any purchases you make going into the void with it.
For Honor is a masterpiece of tactical melee combat, a game that sets itself apart from the crowd with its unparalleled depth and innovation. At the heart of the game lies the "Art of Battle" system, a revolutionary control scheme that offers players an unprecedented level of precision and strategy in combat. Unlike traditional hack-and-slash games, For Honor demands mastery of timing, positioning, and reading your opponent’s intentions. Each faction—Knights, Vikings, and Samurai—is lovingly crafted with rich lore, stunning aesthetics, and unique fighting styles that reflect their cultures. Whether wielding the crushing might of a Knight’s flail, the ferocity of a Viking’s axe, or the elegance of a Samurai’s katana, every battle feels meaningful and immersive. The attention to detail in animations, sound design, and weapon physics makes every strike and parry a visceral experience.
The multiplayer experience in For Honor is where the game truly shines, offering intense, adrenaline-fueled battles that test skill, teamwork, and adaptability. Dominion, a mode combining strategic control points with intense skirmishes, offers a perfect blend of tactical depth and chaotic combat. Duels, on the other hand, showcase the game’s true essence—a pure, skill-based showdown where two players engage in a dance of wits and reflexes. The variety of heroes within each faction provides endless opportunities to refine strategies and discover new synergies, while regular updates and reworks from Ubisoft keep the roster balanced and fresh. The thrill of outmaneuvering a skilled opponent or clutching a hard-fought victory with your team is unmatched, and the competitive scene has cultivated a passionate community of players who revel in its depth and challenge.
Beyond the gameplay, For Honor is a celebration of martial artistry and medieval warfare, brought to life with breathtaking visuals and a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack. The environments, ranging from snow-covered fortresses to cherry blossom-filled battlefields, are richly detailed and serve as evocative backdrops for the game’s brutal conflicts. The commitment to post-launch support has transformed the game into something truly special, with frequent updates, seasonal events, and an evolving storyline that keeps the world of For Honor alive and vibrant. For those who appreciate games that reward dedication, skill, and a love for history-infused fantasy, For Honor is a tour de force that stands as one of the most compelling and rewarding multiplayer experiences available today.
Extremely cinematic in theory. As with all games, the players will do everything they can to win. Not always cheat, but tryhard, and that leads to games against 4 orochis with ADHD. As a beginner, I went into for honor with high expectations, and they were met, in bot matches. I really do think this game is best in the story mode or in casual games or bot matches, because you're not trying to win you're trying to immerse yourself within the world of the game.
Good Game, Infuriating but fun. hopefully ubisoft doesnt get rid of it
Would recommend to anyone who enjoys dishonorable combat. See you on the battlefield, I’ll be the guy falling off a ledge.
this game is like being in a abusive/narcissistic relationship. it will tear you down and never make you want to be anywhere near it ever again, and then it will apologize and make you feel so great and wonderful an hour later. i hate this fucking game, give Lawbringer his hyper armor again
