I want to like this game... it's fun. It satisfies that Dynasty Warrior itch... I've played it for a little while (playing cross-platform on my Deck with a PS player). PC Users generally dominate the console players - plus the addition of macros and whatnot.
Pros:
Time Killer
Fairly quick matches - when servers aren't booting people
Variety of characters to use
Cons:
Cheaters (infinite stamina, block all directions - always)
Connection issues
Requires UbiConnect to play - required special MTU settings on SteamDeck to even play online.
New players have to play with diehards and high levels. it's too hard for newbies to have fun in a game where they have zero chances of winning. Yes, ofc you will learn a lot from pro players how to get gud in the game, after dying to them 10000 times, but trust me, it's not worth it. If you want to play a game about knights then take a look at mordhau or chivalry 2, these games are atleast fun and don't require grinding in-game money to buy some new characters
Great game, has some balancing issues, but if you want to see Knights, Vikings, Samurai, and the Chinese fight because "War is the natural state of our species", and you don't mind hearing "InCrEdIbElIs!" over and over, this game is amazing.
playing this game is the equivalent to dragging your balls across thousands of shards of glass, would recommend

If you stop using UBISOFT products for 2 years or longer, you risk losing both your games 'n account, per Ubisoft policy. They will be PERMANENTLY DELETED!
Note:
since 2023, they updated their removal policy to now state that you'll receive a ''notification'' prior to them taking action, and are given 30 days the time to request keeping your games and/ or account. Before 2023, you would simply lose everything without warning.

Cancelling the closure of your Ubisoft account [www.ubisoft.com]
This is simply not true, as there have been many people who lost their games and ubi account. There are more than enough Ubisoft advocates out there trying to defend them, whoever you choose to believe is up to you, just be aware that your actions may have consequences.
For these reasons, I do NOT recommend For Honor, or any other ONLINE-MULTIPLAYER Ubisoft game!⠀
it hurts, its rough and its toxic.
but it lets me be a knight with cool sword, beating up Katana wielding weebs. so its 10/10
i love this game and hate it at the same time, but i gotta reccomend it tho, for those who see low players count on steam dont be sad since this game is crossplatform and daily players active on other platforms are huge, ever since i cameback i manage to findmatch in less than 1-2 min and its not a hassel to wait that long.,
love the game, add cross progression. have over 500hrs on xbox and dont plan on starting over now but i would love to play this game on pc, so please give us cross progression
Pros:
- Most unique fighting game with tons of depth and lots of replay ability
- Big roster of heroes to play
- Very decent campaign
- Great customization with tons of different executions, effects, colors and armor pieces
Cons:
- Ubisoft
- Ubisoft
- Aaaaaand... Nah, still Ubisoft
Never in my life seen a game that will fuck you in the ass so hard this game is dog shit because of its shity servers every time you think you are having a good game lol no you will get disconnected and get on with level 300 or 200 or 100s I'm a fucking level 50 for god sakes not mention its bs pay to win hero's like pirate this game is fucking torture if you like suffering and hate yourself and love dealing with toxicity this is your game. Fuck you Ubisoft made me broke my damn controller.
after more 400ms and faster attacks were added with bs dlc characters that are hard to obtain, this game is not worth playing anymore
I really love this game, when it first came out, it seemed a little rushed which caused the playerbase to die off over the year's, putting a lot of bad tastes in peoples mouths, but the last couple of year's have been amazing! I really appreciate that the Dev's are listening, and have been updating the game regularly.
For honor is one of my favorite games of all time, and I can't seem to stop playing! I play this game almost every night, and all I ask is that you give this game a chance, especially now!
Hopefully the Dev's see this.
YOU GUYS GOTTA START AN OPEN WORLD, You'll literally be the #1 all across the world, seller, and most played game out there, hopefully you guy's are already planning on this, you'll take the gaming world by storm if you are.
You got the assets, I remember the horse back riding game mode, and the recent rescue mission proves to me that you're more than capable! I wanna see this happen..!
Game is decent but ubisoft connect is still the worst thing in existence. I can no longer play the game as I added it to the wrong connect account and I no longer have access to it, when I try it seemed to have deleted all my data and in game items (that I payed for) so I would have to start all over again
Cant even get into a game without dcing. servers trash since this game came out.
This has to be the worst game I have ever played, I curse the lineage of whoever decided to make this game a reality for eons to come. Woe to those who dare play this accursed title, and may your decent into madness be as agonizing as you deserve.
Also remove orochi from the game and orochi players from the gene pool. Thank you.
High skill ceiling makes this game very hard to play online. The cheap tactics like pushing your opponent off walls, waiting on ladders, attacking from high walls and one hitting people allow this game to be group cheesed. Being aware of this is the only way to not be victimized by it. (HEADS UP AND STAY AWAY FROM ENEMY CONTROLLED LADDERS AND WALLS) Played with both Mouse and controller, of course preference will decide, I recommend a controller seeing as your block aim is tied to the mouse which can be tedious during combat. NOW, all that being said, No game has made sword combat this good. Its part fighting game part MOBA. Its brutal combat executions and customization options are vast. If you are willing to learn the combat system its an extremely entertaining game. Definitely, worth the 5 bucks they are asking for ATM.
AWESOME GAME........ IF YOU PVP . matchmaking is a little broken, i don't know why I always get hooked up by big players. Anyway, i got it game for $3 . so worth it
this game sucks lmao thats it bro. addiction is real. know the signs. worst game community imo. great concept, horrible execution. very bad game and would never recommend.
Originally played the game on the PS4 for three years and had 400+ hours put into the game on that system.
After a two year break and seeing that the game was on sale, I decided to check out the new updates and see how the general game play was. I was not surprised to find that the style of the game hasn't changed at all over these last seasons.
The community is still incredibly toxic, I dare say even more so than an oil spill, so trying to find any sort of sane or reasonable person on there is short of impossible. You'll either get constantly spammed by the game's chat mechanic, get mildly annoyed by your enemy spamming the emote button every time they kill you, or have people send you death threats and/or say incredibly bigoted terms. If you're lucky, all three will happen in the same match!
The grind in this game is egregious. While playing the game modes that require more players gives you more rewards in the form of in game currency and XP, it still doesn't make up for the painfully slow grind that is leveling up, gathering gear, and collecting Steel. On my PS4 account, even with 400+ hours, I was only able to get four characters to maximum level (called Reputation in game) before I got burnt out with minimal spending (less than $100 spent on micro transactions)
Speaking of the newer classes, most of them are downright better than the ones that came with the game originally. Ever since the release of Black Prior back in Year 3, these new heroes are given kits with an emphasis on 50% / 50% switch ups in their counters and combos, resulting in you getting hit half of the time. With the release of the combat overhaul update in 2020 that emphasizes more on prediction rather than reaction to push for a more aggressive play style, nearly every class has been reduced to a light attack spam bot with two brain cells fighting for third place. This all combines into a cluster of quarter frame light attacks that you have to predict correct on the spot or get punished for guessing wrong, which will be half of the time.
TL/DR: If you're looking to have fun, save your money and look elsewhere. I don't care if the game is free, Ubisoft needs to kill this IP and focus their resources on something else.
make a balanced version of this game where the devs actually listen to the community and playtest their own game and then we have a gem. deal?
Played for 48 minutes as Viking in training, quit that, went to story mode.. without a doubt.. this is THE BEST game for people who love gore, killing, and medieval games.
Its a fun time, only downside is the issue of sweats but if ya get some friends to play then go crazy, shits pretty fun
For all the new users who encounter a problem with the appdata detection error folder, just delete and reinstall the Ubisoft app and it should work, at least it did for me
and btw no balance in this game fk it !!!!!
1v1 game mode is the only sane one. 4v4 clash is just a clusterf**k and 2v2 there is no honor in fair fight. Idk, this game its just so overwhelming to fight two at the same time. The fight-mechanic is amazing and advanced, but it doesn't matter in a 1vX situation. I enjoy this game very much, but SADLY only 1v1 duel game mode xP
Positive Review for 1v1 duel, Negative Review for anything else

100 percent do not recommend.
The most important part of gameplay in this game is Parry ability which is heavily dependent on your ability to notice some flashy red UI thing which is impossible to notice, and even if you do it flashes a few times so how do you know when is the right time to click?
- long tutorial, which at the end doesn't help because (next comment)
- random weird controls (press E to cancel? . press ctrl to lock cam, press alt to switch camera aiming towards the other player, press ctrl again to disengage, yet press nothing to block??? and then parry is right click :D )
- unresponsive character control (click and wait for the attack to happen)
- it's very hard to disengage combat
- camera locks to dead people after you kill them so you need to disengage first??? disengage from dead people? Really? ok... :D
- over-saturated, confusing UI with too many buttons and text (nobody knows what it means)
- spammy attacks
- no jumping
- also... Ubisoft
Honestly, play Chivalry or Mount&blade. They are 100 times better games and are much more readable with minimal UI.
Love waiting 5-10 minutes just to get put into a game where all of my teamates are bots and the rest are people rep 100 and higher, really horrible matchmaking
Was fun... But in my opinion this game requiring internet kills it for me. As I think this game could be fun playing offline against bots on my steamdeck... but with a dwindling player base, and me only hopping on occasionlly to scratch that itch. I don't think I honestly enjoy this game anymore like I first got into it, nor will I enjoy much in the future. Maybe if they add offline support I'll play this game again. But until than I'm removing this from my account.
The actual gameplay, mechanics, fashion, and cinema of the game are all solid 10/10s, and the best I've seen of any fighting game. Its so complicated (but in a good way), and has so much depth and mindgames to it, which makes it extremely fun. So why would I give it a negative review?
Because of the god damn community. You guys are literally the worst community I've ever had the disfortune of meeting, and I'm ashamed to be a part of it. Every game I play seems to have either 4 stacks, toxic clan kids, or just generally toxic people. I cant go a single round without being t-bagged after someone used their feats to take half my health, and then lightspammed the other half. I could be better than them in every way, but since the only button they have is for light attack, they win anyways. But they're not just satisfied with winning, no, they want to rub in how much of a dipshit they are, and t-bag me, even though they won using nothing but lights, while I have done literally nothing against them.
I've turned off the chat to avoid some of the toxicity, but that dosen't stop the constant t-bagging and shitty playstyles that most people use.
If anyone that t-bags people for no reason sees this, please do literally EVERYONE a favour and jump off a bridge. <3
And if anyone who's reading this is thinking about buying the game, DO NOT! The actual gameplay is so good and addicting, that you're never gonna be able to walk away, and you'll be forced to deal with this terrible community. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
this game is some what old now and the team running it have had plenty of time to perfect this game you would think, Ubisoft is more about criticising their player base for their problems making god awful games and the "few good titles they have to their name" with a multiplayer bases like for honor or siege to rot and wither away with the rest of their pride and dignity.
only plan on playing if you can get around the plenty of bugs and poor balancing by the team that clearly dont play their own games.
Prepare yourself for eternal misery upon playing this game - I assure you that no greater suffering can be utilized as fine as this Ubisoft creation. So fasten your nerves and protect your sanity, as we embark on this terrifying ordeal.
This game is horrible in so many aspects that I didn't even know I hold for a standard, because I took them for granted - AS ANYBODY SHOULD.
After another frustrating session, I felt an essential urge to express my sincere thought of this game. Whoever reads this may wonder, how did I consume 700 hours of this deadly experience. It will be explained later on. Firstly, I would like to state a few features of this game that tortured my soul every single time.
- Feats: It is unclear where should I start criticizing this feature. Feats in For Honor are simply extremely overpowered abilities that have nothing to do with the regular combat gameplay, and can be activated instantly. They are achieved pretty easily along 4V4 matches, and will cause you to seek out for the nearest spoon to roughly scoop out your eyeballs. Some feats are simple throwables that cause enormous amount of damage the the player (and also to your mental health as a byproduct), and others are just live meteors spawning from the sky, eliminating every drop of HP that you own. The typical late-match experience is fighting another player, surprised to find yourself get instantly destroyed by a goddamn meteor that spawned by an enemy from the other side of a map. Another common scenario is fighting someone, as out of the blue, he dodges back - And at this moment you know you're doomed. Soon he pulls out a bow and deletes you with the press of a button.
- The guessing game: This wasn't such a big issue when option select was still a thing (ancient players know what that is). There are some attacks that are unblockable, which you must parry, dodge, etc. Almost every hero has unblockable attacks, that can be executed mostly at the end of a combo, but some are instant. To avoid getting slashed, you must do something! But wait, these attacks can always be fainted into a guardbreak, which will punish you if you acted. Other counters come in practice upon meeting an unblockable attack, but all comes down to a simple dilemma. Should you act? Or maybe do nothing hoping for the enemy to faint into a trap. But hey, you never know which one will it be! Unless you're an expert mind reader, keep away any sharp objects upon playing this game, as you might roughly apply them on yourself at some point.
- Balanced? What the hell is that?: Ubisoft applied a very bizarre conception upon creating this abomination, thinking: "If we made all characters unbalanced, it will make the overall game balanced!". In practice, some heroes are just objectively worse than others. Even if it was the case, i doubt that it will fulfill that purpose, due to essential defects mention above. For example, take Shinobi. Sure, if you grind enough you'll get your kills, but it is nothing compared to how it will be if you chose, say Shugoki instead. The first has many interesting chains, and flowing combat animations, but it is not as easy like as second, as he deals way more damage consuming tenth the brain cells that come in performance. Shugoki can choose to hold his attacks, making you play the guessing game, except that mostly, he doesn't really care how you react because his attacks are not interrupted - Meaning you may extract his liver throughout his nostrils and rip out his rib cage directly from his chest - But if he has an infinitesimal amount of HP left, he WILL lay that attack on you.
- Matchmaking: It's pretty odd to find yourself time after time matched with reputation 600+ players when the matchmaking is argued to be "skill based". In practice, I suppose it lies on hollow win rate or KDA ratios. Some people play this game since they were first created in their father's testies, so if somehow you made it here throughout this review thinking you'll have a fair fight, try again. Even the fastest attacks can be parried/dodged, so unless you own an extraordinary reaction time, or timed by a NASA bot, you'll miss some parries (and sometimes the parry just doesn't count. The frustration that stems from this occurring is unimaginably infuriating). These guys DON'T MISS. Even if you worked the guessing game on them, reaction time is crucial here. As could be inferred, I wasn't blessed with much.
So why do I still play this game? My entire lifetime gaming experience is probably narrow just enough to appreciate the actual combat mechanics in this game. Lacking of true aiming skills, I find this game comforting as it can sometimes rely on immersive combat strategy that doesn't appeal to me in other games. After learning every hero to their roots, the idea of countering your enemy based on your understanding is very pleasing. Unfortunately, I usually find this conception get meteored by every single flaw bulleted above.
If you try this game anyways, get ready for an impaling journey - Once you're in, there's no way out. Or shall I quote:
AD MORTEM INIMICUS!
3/10
The most rage inducing hair pulling mood downer stressful game with an incredibly toxic playerbase that will make you scream at the screen and throw your controller against the wall while yelling all the profanities and curses known and a steep learning curve to get the timing of your attacks and parries right.
Yet it is strangely addicting as much as it is self harming...
Still going strong after 8 years. I had hundreds of reps in ps4 and now I'm starting from scratch. Don't recommend it unless you are a masoquist :D
i love this game because it is unique and fun, but unfortunately the company that funds it refuses to give it proper funding and as a result you have a poorly balanced experience with lack luster attempts at balancing and zero attempts to listen to community feedback. Servers drop all the time. The playerbase is also one of the most toxic communities (like every ubisoft title unfortunately)
The gameplay is actually very fun, but until they fix the servers and make it possible to play more than 1 match without disconnecting I'm leaving a bad review, get your shit together ubisoft.
Bought the game, linked my ubisoft account I used on xbox, couldnt play the game. Customer support told me to piss off, and uh, yeah. Ubisoft deserves to burn.
As for the game, its like an ice cream cake left out in the sun for a week. Great idea, but so poorly executed. 0/10
At first the game will just make you mad, but the better you are at the game the more fun you'll have.
I personally recommend doing all of the story campaign before you play multiplayer. It gives you enough game currency to buy something or save up for whatever character you want, a good introduction to how you're supposed to play the game and just nice preparation for multiplayer, it also loosely let's you think of what character you want to get, though there's training mode which lets you try out every character.
I feel like this game has so much potential that was never reached. There should have been more content, game modes, and a campaign but it seemed like they went with more of a traditional fighting game route.
I wasnt there in the beginning and i heard it had some problems early on, but the game is super cool so im recommending it
Poorly balanced characters, crappy servers, and non-existent matchmaking. It's just not worth the frustration.
unique combat system. more skill-based. "easy to learn hard to master" For Honor is the game name not the community.
nice game overall
This game needs some more love, I have no idea why not a lot of people appreciate how good of a game this is, the combat system is extremely unique and really enjoyable. I would suggest everyone to at least play this game for a few hours.
Had tons of fun with it. Although it's a bit old and toxic, it's worth playing.
While everything from emotes to FX trails to executions are premium currency, I honestly can't say no to how creative some of them are. The combat is endlessly entertaining and impactful, with a great learning curve (especially for poisons and counters), and allows both PVP and PVE play so when I just wanna beat on some AI I can boot up. It's also just painfully beautiful to look at, every detailed piece of armour or weaponry modification shines and blows in the breeze in very lovingly-crafted maps, with frequent special events and a faction-based endless "war", for those into that.
I constantly lose connection from games and have all kinds of errors that have nothing to do with my internet or pc. Don't get this game!
Play this lot on my PS4 when it was free one year and got up to around 500 plus hours and a small handful of hours here on PC I devolved brain damage and an aneurysm after being ganked by 4 jormungandrs and 4 loud tiandis kicking you :')
Only play this game if you prefer the feeling of being brutally molested by other men
Cant do more than 2 matches without getting disconnected.
Meh.
One of the most lukewarm games I have played. Combat is not bad, but not great. Over-monetized battle passes, XP boosts, cosmetics, etc. Good graphics. Story mode is garbage in my opinion. I encountered bugs that would DC me from games, but not a lot. I didn't play long in PvP multiplayer, but the experience I did have was extremely lackluster.

game is low-key dead but its fun to play once and a while(remove hitokire or whatever that samurai sluts name is <3)
Game is beyond dead. Even if you can get over the 50/50 "reads" that you're forced into, in order to actually play this game you have to:
- Learn every move of every character from the entire cast
- Read the in-depth frame charts and know what attacks from which champions will land first in a neutral light throw
- Study at length the unmentioned teamfight mechanics, including Revenge Tags, Bash frames, to feint unblockable heavies, how/when to use pinning moves, blah blah blah
- Learn to manipulate wall splat punishes and OOS heavy -> feint -> GB -> Throw -> Light -> Heavy
- screw making the rest of the list because it goes on and on and on
It's not fun, it's not worth the reward of the "high skill ceiling"
You know what game has a rewarding skill ceiling? Rocket league, CS:GO, hell even LoL.
Oh and if you want to play breach, you know, the closest lore-accurate mode in the game, you're simply going to have a bad time. No how-to is presented, no pre-load graphics showing what to do, go for, etc. This game is simply not what it could've been, but still receives support as if it's something it will never be
this is like being bit and needing to scratch it its not a good game just addicting
i will say its a great idea though
