Just gone thru the tutorial. Didn't know need online server to play. Thought you can play offline. The server has shutdown. Refunded. Steam should stop selling the game if it's not playable.

This game WAS awesome when i bought it 5 years ago. I played a bit of the single player campaign and multiplayer when it was active at that time. I wanted to give it another go but now the game starts into the tutorial mission and cant do anything after that. The multiplayer server just kicks you back to the white open void and the local game doesn't have any missions on the mission board. Absolute waste of time now and space. DO NOT BUY , i hate Drifter for this as it seems they have abandoned this game. I will never buy anything you guys make again.

buyer beware. game is broken like crazy. multiplayer does not work at all. online loops back to main menu. offline sends you to a spot where you can move around but the main menu screen keeps poping up preventing you from doing anything. getting a refund

Beautifully immersive! Lots of fun. New buyers: The development of this game has ended, so if you buy this game, know that any bugs or gripes you may have will not be fixed. You will be investing in a game that is not going to change. However, I think you will have a lot of fun with this! Well worth the money.

Gunheart, like all Drifter games, is underrated. I haven’t been able to play that much, but Drifter’s art style is always unique and really stands out in VR. This game reminds me of After the Fall with Robo Recall’s sense of humor and Half-Life Alyx’s graphics (almost).

If the dev team at Drifter is still around, they should update this, enhance it for modern VR headsets and relaunch it with a big update somehow. Contact VR Content Creators etc... Because:
It is freaking amazing, After the Fall is nothing against this. More weapons, TONS of upgrades for your character, for every weapon, shooting range is basically an arcade game in itself.
Nice graphics, EA was 2017 full release 2018 I cant believe how I have missed out on this game.
Roughly 5 bucks on sale is insane, go grab it.
I have played it using the Quest 2 wireless, which works flawless. But I have heard it does not play well with Index Controllers.

Edit. The multiplayer does work, I was in the open lobby with a random guy and a friend. I was able to join the random guy on his already running mission. Later I did play a map with my buddy, no problems at all.

Multiplayer has not been working for months, can't get a refund, bought 3 copies of the game, basically got scammed out of 37€. Would highly recommend not buying this game.

Kinda like "Destiny" in VR, at least it kinda reminds me of that game.

This has very good performnace, good variety of weapons, which are upgradeable.

One of the most underrated games in VR i think.

It has its issues, Enemies AI isnt the best, but its varied enough to make them feel different and take different approaches to each one.

Movility is amazing, jumping around the map feels great.

Coop works great, customization options are nice, but really the game is fun!

Good Game one of the better VR shooters out there, if you like Scifi go for it, its a mix between destiny2 and doom somehow.. can only recommend it. I have alot of fun with my girlfriend playing it! cool weapons guns feel good just wish there would be more, nice graphics, just wish there would be more alienlike plant planet and not only grey facilities? other than that i cannot complain, 20h in it still motivated to upgrate and get all the weapon and armor mods! long term motivation is there. for 15$ its realy good and coop / multiplayer is fun! there are also some players its not completly dead game like other vr titles! wish people would pay more attention to it

im playing it with a pimax 8k+ and index controllers its working fine but for pimax you need to play with the options to make it run! Pitool renderquality has to be 1. parallel projection needs to be ON! also i have hidden area mask ON! the other options off. also the max field of view for pimax is NORMAL cannot run it with large field of view! works fine every one complaining its not working with pimax or index didnt test arround with the settings for me it worked fine even it crashed at start because of wrong settings!

also the tutorial looks graphically little buggy but after the tutorial is done it looks all good so dont worry or scare!

Having a great time with this game. Been mostly playing Co-op and those battles can get intense! Kinda reminds me of the old movie "Starship Troopers." I haven't had any problems with movement or some of the other problems I saw reported. I was looking for a game to play Co-op that had enough variety and action. At this point I only have about 15 hours in, so I still have some levels to check out and some weapons to try.

The levels look great in VR. If you have a fear of heights, this game can take you to your limits. Some of the levels get pretty high up. But been so busy killing bugs that you don't think about it much.

Great fun to go in with a partner and plan a strategy of attack! For me, well worth the $30 price tag.

Gunheart seemed like it might be able to give me another dose of Borderlands-esque magic: the idea of being a bounty hunter on foreign planets, the loot aspect of the game (in terms of rig mods and weapon mods), and the humor. I grabbed a friend and dived in. I played the desktop (not VR) version.

The game does indeed have a great sense of humor. I thought the voice-actor both for your female handler (with a southern drawl) and the Palco industries spokesman were fantastic, and they cracked me up on multiple occasions. I also have love for the Payola-saurus, the area of the hub where you break open your quest rewards and loot with a baseball bat, like a pinata.

The other thing that I felt that the game nailed was the movment. Using the dash to traverse the levels was satisfying and intuitive. The game encourages you to zip around by having zero penalty for overshooting - if you fall off of the map, you're simply teleported back up top. Each of the levels has quite a bit of verticality, so you have a lot of opportunities to blink around.

Unfortunately, that is where the praise I have for the title ends. Although I liked the verticality of the levels, I got exhausted with their repetitiveness. I played every mission on the main board of the "Job Goblin", often hopping between main and side missions. I saw the same level sections over and over and over, to the point where I would immediately begin grabbing all the "hidden" money canisters upon entering. I had played these sections so many times that I'd memorized where they were. In addition, many of the levels caused my graphics card to chug, although I've played more graphically complex games with little trouble.

Every level section plays almost identically - you'll enter a section and you're told to clear out all of the enemies. From that point forward, enemies begin spawning almost anywhere and everywhere with little to no rhyme or reason, generally moving in your direction. Once you finish this enemy wave survival, you'll move to the next section in the level and it will begin anew. Enemy movement appears stilted, and the enemies don't appear to move naturally through the environments. The most irritating aspect of this is how difficult it makes reviving your co-op partner. If your co-op partner goes down, you'll need to pull out a "multi-tool," and use it on your partner for a substantial length of time for a revive. However, in the middle of this enemy wave, there are no breaks in the enemy onslaught. Throughout our entire time with the game, we were able to revive each other perhaps twice?

I don't want to pick on Gunheart, because its inspiration, Borderlands, has the same issue. Enemies also spawn in waves, moving unnaturally through the environment. However, in Borderlands, many of the guns felt satisfying to shoot, which made these faults more tolerable. I can't claim the same for Gunheart. I gravitated towards the chaingun, because it actually seemed to have a good amount of accuracy at range. You can often see your enemies approaching from far away, so it's beneficial to be able to hit them. At one point, you acquire a sniper rifle, but this feels terrible. A zoomed-in sight becomes all you see on your screen, and it is challenging to make any sort of precision shot. The other weapons that I used were the rocket launcher and the death discs. The rocket launcher is very stock standard, powerful and easy to use. I'll discuss the death discs below.

The main problem I had with the chaingun was with running out of ammo. I put the ammo regeneration mod on the chaingun, but the ammo did not regenerate fast enough to make a difference. The death discs were conceptually quite neat, reminding me of the Ripper from Dead Space. Unfortunately, they weren't as effective against the elite drones, the enemies that I was intially most excited to use them on. The elite drones teleport around and disable your own teleporting ability. It can be difficult to hit them as they teleport, but they eventually end up in melee range, making the death discs a good choice. However, even after slotting in two "+damage" mods, taking the damage meter to the top, they still didn't do much damage to the elite drones. Moving the blades towards the heads of the enemies was more effective, but this was difficult to do with the enemies' seemingly-random teleporting.

I was able to upgrade my rig (body) to level 19/25, but I never felt that each level made much difference. These upgrades also became prohibitely expensive rather quickly. I slotted in a few rig mods as well, but found these dull overall.

It seemed to me that Gunheart very much wanted to be Borderlands. However, in order to be comparable, it would need tighter gunplay, more diverse environments, and many more amusing characters other than the two on display.

This game is online only, so if the servers go down (like it did for me on a wednesday morning!) you can't play.
graphics are nice with a hand full of guns. (pistol, shotgun, smg crossbow and some disk thing.) there are "2 handed" weapons but they are clunky to use.
Full lucomotion that moves you at light speed. (way too goddamm fast.)
it seems you play one mission, you've played them all (4 or 5 types of enemies, similar maps.)

I'd say hold off till there is an offline version cause lag will affect you even when your playing solo.

Wow! I was thoroughly impressed! This is one of the cream-of-the-crop VR games available today. It's got room for a little more polish compared to non-VR games, but as far as VR titles go this is as good as it gets. It was a BLAST to play, especially with a friend. Was easy to pair up with other players and join them too. The upgrades and gun mods add depth and make me want to keep playing to continue progressing. One of my favorite VR games ever, up there with Beat Saber and Elite Dangerous in terms of how much time I expect to keep playing it.

I got this game this morning and super happy with my purchase. Play single or coop, pvp, loads of various custom looks. The indie team of Drifter Entertainment has done a fantastic job!

This game is hands down one of the best VR games you can play!. The coop is easy, fun and oh man does the game look beautiful. You can tell it has been built from the ground up with the clever and user friendly VR mechanics it has, which include...

Stupidly fun shooting and locomotion mechanics, great looking maps and plain old fun. You'll feel like a robot ninja almost instantly through the great use of thumbpad movement, double jumping and teleporting.

Great customisation options that add heaps of charm and personality to your characters, along with the cool weapons and their individual modifications. A nice mix of game modes ranging from coop story, PvP and Team Deathmatch.

Simply put this feels like a game that was released by a triple A studio but it actually has great polish and mechanics behind it unlike the VR ports of most old games that are being pushed out today at full price.

Probably the best playing/feeling and looking VR game ive ever bought. (This game definitely works best in Coop Mode)

I have mixed feeling on Gunheart. Great graphics, decent selection of weapons, and loot to buy upgrades and cosmetics. Weapons level up through use in combat and there's a ton of ammo mods to find enabing you to customise all your loadout. This adds an element of morerish replayability grind to the whole game in quest to unlock all the mods.

Where the game isn't so good is the combat, specifically the enemy have a tendancy to behave in a Command & Conquer rush attack. That's fair enough for the melee enemy. But gun totting enemy like to run right up to you and blast you in the face, often in a large pack. The enemy AI just isn't quite right. You come across some large open areas which I haven't really explored during combat. The enemy rush at you at the entrance to the area and you simply fight them there. Once cleared you just travel through an empty large area which would have been an exciting battleground.

The levels are reasonably large but linear. You're basically going in one direction to reach the end of the level so you never really feel that you're making any descisions. Each level is collection of segments, that begin with the spawn point should you die. You need to clear the area before the next section (segment) unlocks. These artificial barriers makes the levels feel like a wave shooter.

The 9 levels is about 5-6 hours of gameplay. The early levels are simple, and become more interesting and challenging later on. Which is a shame as Gunheart feels like it's beginning to hit it's stride at in the final couple of levels. Overall level design is a mixed bag, parts of levels can come across a bit samey because of the limited texture variety and the linear path.

There's a host of side mission challenges outside of the main story levels adding a few more hours of original gameplay. So you get a decent amount of content and replay value.

As VR titles goes you're getting a good amount of playtime value for your money. The enemy behaviour and level design does hold back Gunheart from being a must have VR game. My score heavily reflects this. Despite that I have enjoyed the game but at the same time I wouldn't miss it if I never played it again.

This is a truely wonderful game, and it's especially great for multiplayer (2 or 3 players)
Very immersive, and some of the best action in off-world missions both indoors and outdoors.

The weapons are enjoyable, and are satisfying to use..and the choice of different combo-weapons (two-handed weapons activated when you pull your single guns together) makes for a fun time when deciding whether to find a high vantage point to pick off the enemies, or get up-close and personal in a full-on death blast.

With player levels to achieve (you start as level 1 and work-up to level 25), gun mods and gun levels, plus a growing list of missions (story, side and weekly), this is a game that just keeps giving and keeps getting better.

I really cant recommend this game enough.
My wife and I are No 1 and 2 in all of the high scores for each mission, and we both cant wait for each new challenge to appear. As a 2-player multi-player game, this game is simply awesome. We both have almost 100 hours in this game together, and I fully expect us to keep playing this for a long time to come.

If you have friends who own a VR rig and you're not playing this game together, do yourself a favour and get yourself this game now.
If I didnt already own 2 Vive's, I buy 2 just for this game. For me and my wife, this game is simply THAT GOOD!

growing to be one of my favorite games to play. it feels like its an actual/full game (as of the recent updates at least). maybe not very long but the grinding and different weapon mods keep it interesting. i also really like how 'weekly/side missions' often give you weapons you may not have gotten the chance to play with, so you can test it out before you buy them. though, one of the few games that i get a little queasy after an hour or so at a time, they do have an option to fix that but i just prefer not to for field of view purposes. i just thought that was weird because i can play any other (so far) locomotion game with no problem for hours on end.

Gunheart is a quality VR shooter with a good bit of content. 3-player co-op through a campaign with a varied amount of environments and modes as well as enemy types. A fairly simple character progression system but the weapon upgrades are very nice a really make a difference. Weekly missions are tough and provide some good challenge. Also, there's PvP. Visuals are top notch and the way they handle the HUD is really freaking cool.

Awesome game!!! Cant Stop playing, had small problem and The devs got right on it and fixed it. I love the locomotion and really enjoy being able to switch between teleport and running. I was never a fan of teleporting but it works in this game and I wouldn't want it any other way. For a game that's still early access and is this addicting I'm sure with time it can only get better. Can't wait to see more weapons, more maps and more enemies and maybe even boss battles. Pvp works great too although not many people have been playing I'm sure it will get better as more people finish leveling up and are looking for Something different to do. Keep up the good work devs and thanks again for the quick resolution to my problem.!!

The game can become very good but at this point it's almost unplayable & very unfinished.

The servers are bad & the only thing you will experience is insane bullet lag & movements delays.

Just add free trackpad movement i'm sick & tired of this teleporting crap, fix bullet lag & we can enjoy a good game.
I'm currently refunding & might come back when those problems are solved.

This is great! Great graphics, great gameplay. The co-op play feels extremely natural, the maps are well situated to make location and other player locations really important, and the ability to really support each other really encourages communication and strategy. I was very hesitant to drop $35 on something that just dropped into Early Access but I am extremely pleased.

Suggestions for devs:

1. The guns and explosion sound effects are not quite satisfying. Give them a bit more oomph. Also, the barrels - make them so if you shoot them once, they start to leak (and will explode), but if you shoot them a second or third time, they explode now.

2. The enemies are extremely well modeled and animated. BUT they are not quite satisfying to kill. I'm going to compare this to Halo since you're filling that hole in my heart (for co-op FPS gameplay). Remember the little guys that squealed in terror when you arrived, referring to you as a demon, etc? How satisfying it was to headshot them, or run up behind them and melee them? Remember the hyperaggressive warrior caste that bellowed as they charged at you? How satisfying it was when you finally nailed them with a shotgun, for all their dodging? They had just enough personality in them to make them satisfying enemies to kill. These insect creatures need a little more anthropomorphizing in their body language and sounds. Raise them from pests that have to be exterminated to adversaries that I really really want to make dead.

I started off loading the game and loading time took a while. After the screen came on at default graphics settings, it looks really good! I was surprised to find myself at a cantena. I was able to hear people logging in and logging out and chatting and forming groups for game.

I accidently hit a pad and was teleported to a location where a session has started. Immediatly was in a group (it felt like a group though we didnt need to be in a group and this is very interesting.) and just following a path to where we were shooting stuff. Feels really good! One of our teammates died but we pressed on.

After I reached the end of the level, i logged off and I can really say I love this game.

The cantena area has spots to where you can upgrade your armor, another spot to where you can upgrade your weapons. as you progress, you find money in areas of the game for the character upgrades. This Game is Most excellent!

This game spells fun! The graphics, audio, presentation is top notch! It is worth 34 dollars at least so far.

I will adjust this review as I Learn more about it.
