it is a remaster of a classic. Only improvements were made. I played the original of this game as a kid and this is just the same but better. It is also in my humble opinion one of the best campaigns in COD.
I first got this game for xbox, there were many bugs with it, mainly bullets not connecting with targets, so i dropped it. i got it on steam thinking it would be better, but it was worse. bullets werent hitting targets which made the game really hard to play so i had to dumb down the difficulty. in particular the mission all guillied up was nearly unplayable because of this. After hitting the mission warpig i came across a new error where the game froze and broke down at the end of each levels opening cutscene. the only way to get past it was to dial down the graphics to the lowest setting and hope it worked. My childhood is in this game when it first came out and all of the nostalgia was ruined. save yourself the trouble and money and just play the origional
very good game with amazing graphics.
I'm gonna be honest with you all, the campaign is a 10/10. the voice lines, movements, it's the best COD remaster, and a sort of fun achievements for you. quite fun. but the Multiplayer is not populated nor it is safe, hackers around, you know. furthermore, I'd recommend buying it on sale merely for the great story campaign and achievements. if you're a fan of it, that is. me personally, just gotta love the campaign. and don't forget to shut down the shader cache at the first start, or else the game would crash and you won't be able to play it again, just turn it off on the first start and you'll be good to go.
"Romeo One-One: We're going deep and we're going hard. Charlie One-One: Surely you can't be serious? Romeo One-One: I am serious… and don't call me surely" :D
I had to start game in safe mode then could restart Windows too play. After that no issues on 6900XT and it brought back memories of original launch. Still a great game thanks for the Remaster.
Modern Warfare's original launch was a massive deal both at the time and looking back with rose tinted glasses. The COD game-play loop while in its early stages had a hold on me like few games before or since could. It was addictive, fast paced and fun. So I would expect the remastered version of the game to feel the same way. However this 7th gaming generational masterpiece loses all of the good will it once had with Activision's continued greed by added not only new weapons which changed the balancing of the game but by making some of these weapons unlockable by purchase only. Stepping aside from this egregious choice the rest of Modern Warfare appears to be how I remember it. With a campaign story that's serviceable (it never hits the same highs as the two sequels). But one thing I did notice is just how rough playing this version of the game on Veteran was. I honestly don't remember infinite spawning enemies or just how many grenades were used at that difficulty, for disclosure the only way for me to beat the last section of the mission one shot one kill was to force the AI into a tunnel and then pray as I try to make it to the extract, I'm a little disappointed that this game doesn't have a single-player stat tracker because I'm interested to see just how many times I died in each level.
A great graphical update to one of the best Call Of Duty games. Definitely should play the original if you haven't already, but either way you're playing one of the most iconic and influential FPS games out there.
This is my 1st Call of Duty Game and my 1st game that I finished in one sitting. The remastered is superb and the story is excellent. Its a go to game when you want to relieve your younger years
A great remaster of a classic game, Modern Warfare has some great moments and the game ran fine.
Pros:
- Remastered graphics of a classic
- A fun First Person Shooter
Cons:
- Respawning enemies are still in the game
Visuals - Impeccable
Soundtrack - Amazing
Voice Actors - God Tier
Nostalgia - Untouched
Mile High Club on Veteran - PITA (Only worth it for 100%)

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a classic title in the franchise, and to see it return with updated visuals is something to behold for any fan of the original! I cannot express well enough in words just how exhilarating it is to play through this game, recognizing everything but seeing them with improved polygons, lighting, shading, textures and more! While a side-by-side comparison may do it better justice, you have to play it to truly enjoy it.
There is not much to say about the classic story that hasn't already been stated by others, since it's a remaster of an old game, but I will say that it's--in my opinion--one of the best of the franchise. In many ways, I prefer this story over Modern Warfare 2's, and that's mostly because it feels much more gritty. While 2 does make you feel like an action hero, this game feels a little more believable and makes you feel like a tragedy is just around the corner, waiting to happen, and this game absolutely delivers!
--I will say, however, the flinching in this game is unforgiving.--
For anyone who hasn't played Call of Duty 4, and has the PC to run this remaster, I highly recommend getting this version! It's the example of what remasters should be!
I forgot how fun this game was. I've played everyone that has a campaign except BO6, and wanted to revisit the remaster. I wasn't dissapointed as the graphics look just as good as a newer game. I put it on Veteran so I would'nt be finished so quickly. Definite buy.
I remember when this game first came out. I fell in love with it then and still am today. This is the ultimate modern warfare game, the classic. It is well rounded, excellent story which will have you blasting your way through the enemy lines as part of U.S Marines style of over powering. Or stealth your way through missions as part of the S.A.S, with precision kills. If you're new to Call of Duty, I guarantee you'll want to start with this beast of a game.
I liked replaying the original mw campaign in HD but the game is buggy. I dont't know what happened but there is bugs in missions where the original didn't have them. Also the game didn't want to run on win11 had to run it in compatibility mode with win8.
awesome remaster! keeps the feel of original game with cool modern graphics
The game's download is literally missing files. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. You straight up won't be able to play it.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, created by Infinity Ward under the Activision umbrella, remains, even today in my adult life, one of the best games I have ever played. As the first game in the Call of Duty series I experienced, it holds a special place in my heart. Its remastered version not only rekindles those cherished memories but also enhances the original experience with modern upgrades.
From the outset, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare set itself apart by delivering an unparalleled level of immersion. When I first played it as a kid, it was unlike anything I had encountered before. The game made me feel like an ordinary soldier fighting alongside my comrades, immersed in a realistic and intense battle to overcome the enemy. The sense of being part of the action, rather than merely observing it, was transformative and left a lasting impression.
One of the defining features of this game is its mature and grounded narrative. Unlike many action-heavy games that lean on exaggerated Hollywood-style heroics, Modern Warfare takes inspiration from real-world events of its time (2007). It delves into conflicts in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, presenting a storyline that feels authentic and impactful. This grounded approach is one of the reasons it stands out within the Call of Duty franchise, even among its successors.
The remastered version elevates the original with a stunning visual overhaul. The upgraded graphics manage to preserve the essence of the 2007 classic while making it more immersive and visually pleasing. Iconic missions such as the harrowing scene where you witness the devastation of a nuclear explosion through the eyes of a U.S. Marine or the legendary "All Ghillied Up" stealth mission in Chernobyl’s aftermath are brought to life with even greater detail and atmosphere. These missions have etched themselves deeply into my memory, resonating just as strongly today as they did back then.
Another standout element is the game’s impeccable soundtrack. The music perfectly complements the intense and emotional atmosphere of the game, pulling players deeper into its world. The score adds a level of emotional resonance that enhances every moment, making the gameplay all the more memorable.
Of course, the game isn’t without its flaws. One notable issue with the remastered version is the field of view (FoV), which defaults to 65—a setting that feels cramped on modern 16:9 monitors. Adjusting this setting is a must to fully enjoy the game in today’s gaming environment. Despite this, the remastered version remains a clear improvement over the original, providing a fresh coat of polish while retaining everything that made the original great.
Personally, I value both the original and remastered versions equally. Each has its own charm, and I’d gladly revisit either at any time. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is and always will be one of my all-time favorite games. Its modern take on warfare—a departure from the World War II themes the series was known for—was groundbreaking in 2007 and still holds up remarkably well today.
In conclusion, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a classic that I will continue to replay endlessly. The remastered version is a worthy homage to the original, enhancing it in all the right ways while preserving its core identity. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer to the series, this game is a must-play and a shining example of what makes first-person shooters truly exceptional.
Piece of coded garbage. doesn't work. when i first bought the game it wouldn't even load. i had to do some stupid workaround that i found on Reddit which eventually let me play the game full screened. after 2 hours of game play reaching the 3rd mission. like another comment on act 2 i crashed. and i know its not my PC, because i have just upgraded it and no other game is having these issues. save your money and buy ANYTHING ELSE. Because even if this IS a remaster. the story of the game is 15-16 years old now. Your only paying for better graphics that wont even shine if your constantly crashing. buy ANYTHING ELSE.
Plays fantastic but keep to Single Player and don't play Multiplayer unless you get the H1-Mod!
I never played the multiplayer, can't say a thing about it. I got this for the story, and it delivered in every way I hoped. It's just like I remember when it first came out playing it on the console in the living room.

A remaster that isn't an overall improvement on the visual and gameplay elements from the original is a remaster that shouldn't exist. Although visual fidelity has been improved, it's accompanied by this god-awful shader engine that distorts critical information that I, the player, shouldn't be struggling to decipher. I get that CoD 4 wasn't the prettiest game to look at, especially with its one-noted color grading, but I don't ever recall having to squint to make out enemy locations or specific details in the map geometry. Also, every animation feels heavier and clunkier, leading to a very noticeable accentuation in the view bobbing that the player will experience.
crashes all the time ... unplayable
the game crashes upon startup of the 3rd mission on act 2 consistantly with error codes, dont waste money on this garbage
Brings back the best memories and will always love this game no matter what. I highly recommend if you loved this game or have heard of it.
incredible game. finished on veteran difficulty. mile high club performed by https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198502054629/
MS OUTLOOK just better. whoever created veteran for mile high club go jump into a pit<3
great game but occasionally crashes for some reason. I don't have crashing problems with any other game.
playing BO6 right now, they censored ed "meat smells" good, soo I'm gonna say its a neg from now now on
works on my play station, but recently can't even boot up due to memory error on two different high end PC's. do not buy this garbage. if you want to play it, play it on console where you can actually play the game.
Drop dead classic made beautiful
it is a very good game but it always crash i please recomend the community to give me solution of this problem
Multiplayer filled with RCE exploits and malware avoid. Singleplayer is good.
Worked fine the first time i played, Got past "charlie don't surf" and then it refused to load, have done most of the normal fixes for it (drives up to date, verify files etc) but it still will not load. I do not get any error messages and my system can run this game. It should not be this much of a hassle to play the game, under discussions i can see issue after issue. Complete waste of time guys.
Plays great and was able to complete the singleplayer campaign on Steam Deck.
Its one of my favorite games but FUCK ACTIVISION!
I really enjoyed this game , really good campaign !

i finished it in one day but it was very nice
It's functional
amazing game
Underrated story and a good remastered version. Crashes can easily be fixed so reviews are not truthful!
great game
crashes constantly dont buy
crashed when i was entering the 6th mission and won't start
You ever tried to play a first person shooter that crashes whenever you shoot, throw a grenade, kill an enemy, or move?
Would you like to?
h
The FOV is trash like SKYRIM. Until this is fixed its a no for me.
IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUE WITH THE GAME CRASHING ON “BOG” MISSION; be sure to turn off pre loading textures or something along those lines in advanced graphics settings I believe, the game works afterwards and shouldn’t have been a problem this long after they released it or even on release, but incompetent developers are a common plague, otherwise this is a really fun remaster with lots of smaller and neat additional details that range from new animations to new voice lines and of course cleaner visuals. Would recommend I think people don’t like it because they didn’t want to take the time to look up how to fix the issue with the game crashing and take 4 seconds to change a single niche setting option. My only complaint is it doesn’t comply with a ps5 remote unfortunately but otherwise a great remaster for a legendary game.
Played the single player campaign without crashes. RTX 4060 TI and i5 14600k
