I have fond memories of playing this game at 3am on a school laptop with one earbud in to hear if my parents were in the hall. Game still holds up!
(To get around the 82 fps cap open your killingfloor.ini in the game folder and change the max fps string to 200. In game press ~ and type "netspeed 20000" without quotes)
Killing Floor 1 is almost timeless. The atmosphere, the look of the game, the amazing maps and the great weapon models, the weapon animations and sounds. The biggest issue with the game and the part that holds it back from being the best horde shooter ever is the hitboxes. There are plenty of videos on the internet that show that the hitboxes are completely broken, making headshots impossible unless you've studied the jank of this game and achieved a PhD in where the hitbox should be in X scenario. If you can't feel solid feedback from when you shoot, it leads to frustration.
The only reason I am recommending this game is because of the ScRN balance patch which fixes the hitboxes. If you are going to play this game, only play it using the ScRN mod or preferably find a server hosting the ScRN mod since it stores your progress. It adds in new weapons, more classes, and makes the game into the timeless masterpiece that it should have been on launch. The only issue with this method is that the balance patch is not 'whitelisted' meaning that any levels you gain when using it are locked behind either the server you're playing on or on your machine.
Also, if you buy this game, I can't recommend getting the full edition with all the DLC enough. When the game goes on sale, that full edition drops to around 13 dollars which is a fair enough price for such a great game.
fun game! hard to get the controlls but fun none the less i like how the flashlight has a more limit then when you used in kf2
솔직히 킬플 2는 이거 반만 따라오고 킬플3은 아직 나오진 않았지만 반도 못따라올듯
If it's a choice between Killing Floor 1 or 2, go with 2.
The only thing this has above KF2 is the Horror Atmosphere.
Killing Floor 2 just has better game-play in general.
But this is still a great game!
KF1 still does hold up tonally and has a great atmosphere, but compared to its sequel it is drastically held back by limited enemy interaction scope, simplistic class identities, poor map design and clunky mechanics (*not affectionate*)
We're 7 playing together and it feels fun, this games is good and potato pc friendly. Not all of us have a decent pc to play Killing Floors 2. So we bought Killing Floors 1 instead. The thing that we don't know is. THERE IS FREAKING BUNDLE THAT INCLUDE KILLING FLOOR 1 & 2 JUST FOR 0.1$ HIGHER PRICE. DAMMM WE GOT SCAMMED XD
played it 14 years ago and it still bangs, even better than KF2 and KF3, the atmosphere, the aesthetic itself, everything.. I just love this game man, i'm glad that MP is still alive and i can still have fun games with the sweatiest sweats ever seen in my life, revive this and make it more popular again. You can even make the modders themselves work on this game and they'll do well with updating it
Killing the floor and zombie like abominations to gain loauds of munaey, this game is great even if people prefer KF2 more than this.
Stupid fun, so far. Killing zombies and yelling mediocre british insults is truly a good way to spend a half-hour minutes of my day
Killing Floor is an absolute gem for co-op FPS fans. The game delivers intense wave-based combat, a great variety of weapons, and a dark atmospheric setting that keeps you on edge. Each class feels unique, encouraging teamwork to survive the brutal Zed hordes.
Killing Floor has something ever so unpolished that it feels as if it is a nostalgic game before its time whilst maintaining a playable aspect worthy by current times. Admittedly, my first experience is a decade or two later than its release date.
Absolutely exquisite
Though this game was made over 10 years ago it's still delivers some amazing gameplay
Overall, i love slaughtering zombies and music in this game absolutely rocks. Definately some of the best tracks i've heard in games, 10/10. Can't wait to play second game
Remember it's much funnier to play with friends, considering that this game is cheap
Do not think of KF1 as some groundbreaking and complex FPS.. This game is much simpler than you might think, however, It's still pretty fun (and the soundtrack is also amazing). If you like L4D2/L4D then you should definitely check this game out when it's on sale.
8.7/10
What a chad of a game! KF1 is a master piece of its time. A hidden pearl that i still enjoy more than KF2 and KF3.
I don't even want to think about KF3... How dare you massacring my boy >:|
The scary, dark, dirty, cold, depressing and abandoned look of KF1...
the scary psycho music...
the bri'isch voicelines that you can use to insult your friends or teammates....
IT IS SOOO DAMN GOOOOOOOOOOOD !!!
Doing headshots feels incredible satisfying.
The shooting has a good punch to it and is not a laser like modern games.
If you play alone, being in that one office building at night, looking out the broken window into the dark
while it's raining and thunder and listening to the calm psycho music while waiting for the next zombies to stalk you down... i'm really enjoying the chills.
Have you ever watched an old video of a tornado storm and compared it to a modern video?
The old video with bad quality makes the storm look way more creepy and dangerous.
I think the old texture quality of KF1 can still help with the immersion.
Also a very nice game to play on lan with friends when being drunk.
aesthetically unrivaled and actually holds up well to it's sequel(s)
That was a nasty fall you had there, man.
Huh?
Killing Floor 3? Battle pass? Hero shooter? 2025? Dude, it's 2014. They just released the End of The Line update, come on, let's try out the new map.
Buy this instead of KF2 or KF3 if you want to actually have fun.
Don't buy it if you really don't want to give Tripwire money.
Or split the difference between the two options and wait for a sale, you can get the full kit and kaboodle for basically nothing.
I've reinstalled this after KF3 closed beta and it is so much more fun.
Over 40,000 people hopped back onto this game the moment the KF3 beta dropped.
Perfect retroactive advertising Tripwire.
I hope Yosh is proud of this colossal achievement.
TL:DR This is a Co-op game, not a single player game in a multiplayer lobby (which is what the sequel did)

Little extra fluff
It's that damn good.
If you play it alone it won't make a lick of sense why, but when you start playing with other people, it clicks instantly. Timing your reloads (especially on hell on earth), placement or fallback plans, the waltz that happens as your team plays musical chairs with every doorway and hallway you walk by as your try to gain ground from those plans falling apart. The sheer communication that goes into every single match. You'll get it... assemble the boys, get your demos, then ask "where the hell you at?" only to find a puddle of dead guy with his grenade launching sitting there unloaded. 10/10
This is a co-op game, through and through
tbh this is a better killing floor game than killing floor 3 is at the moment
British people killing genetically enhanced super British people.
10/10 best portrayal of London ever.
Around 4 weeks ago i was bored and decided to look for a wave based game, i stumbled upon killing floor wich i have heard of many times before however i have never played, even tho i was hesitant, i eventually decided to give this game a shot and picked it up on sale, i was not dissapointed. Killing floor is one of the best zombie games ever made, its a wave based zombie survival game just like call of duty zombies, although we could argue this game exsisted way before cod zombies becouse it was a mod before it was released into a full standalone game in 2009.
I did not expect this game to be this good but it really was, its premise is simple yet works perfectly and this game is exsactly what it needs to be. There are 2 gamemodes, wave based and objective mode, both wich are amazing and objective mode is way better then expected. Wave based gamemode has 4 selections, short game, medium, long and custom. The most widely recognised one is long wich comes in 10 waves and if you manage to survive 10 waves The Patriarch comes as as a boss fight. There are 5 difficulties and even on normal the game can be super challanging and hard. You can also customise ur matches by making custom waves custom money and all that and even mutators wich help you enhance your gameplay if u ever get bored of the base game wich isnt likely becouse if you like wave based zombie games you will definetly love killing floor.
The gameplay is fun as heck, you get 7 perks to choose from : Medic, support specialist, sharpshooter, commando, berserker, firebug and demolitions. Each perk comes with its own pros and cons and varies in gameplay so you get to choose your own playstyle and level up your perks and become stronger and more viable in combat. There are tons and tons of weapons to choose from and they are all very fun to use, each perk has just enough weapons to spice up the gameplay and if u ever get tired of ur usual loadout you can just try different perk weapons and keep the gameplay intresting and fun for yourself. Theres alot of enemy types and what i love about this game is every enemy type serves a purpose even the most basic zombie the clot wich is useless and 99% of the time doesnt pose a threat can still make or break your entire game, clots have the abbility to grab you and all it takes is one slip up and getting grabbed by a clot and the second you know it all the monsters have beaten on you and ur dead. The strongest enemy type in my opinion is the fleshpound wich is like a miniboss. And the patriarch boss fight even tho its the only boss fight in this game unlike its sequel killing floor 2, they make sure that the boss is complex enough to work everytime and i think it fits perfectly for this game. There are loads and laods of maps to choose from and all of them are great you have small maps and big maps wichever you desire. The fun perks, the enemy types, the wide arsenal of weapons to choose from, the many maps all come together to a perfect game that keeps engaging you, this game can be addictive and its super fun it has alot of content to offer alot of ways to modify ur experience, an objective mode wich is suprisingly very good and fun, and even if somehow you manage to get bored, this game has workshop mod support so you can always use that. Overall i would 100% upvote this game, its one of the best zombie games i have ever played and its definetly one of the best zombie games ever made period. Its very fun and endless replay value with loads of content and it manages to put everything together perfectly, i would say pick this game up for sale becouse the original price is a big too high for such an old game, but even if u dont want to wait for sale then its definetly worth every single penny to buy this game. Its the most fun ive had in a while
It's SO good. Magdumping an AA12 into a Fleshpound and scoring headshots with a crossbow never gets old. Besides weird hitboxes (you basically need to aim for the chin to score a headshot) and jank stuff like not being able to cancel reload animations, Killing Floor still holds up and still has active servers as of 2025.
เป็นเกมที่ตัวละครทุกคนต้องใส่ถุงมือ แม้แต่หุ่นยนต์ยันต้องใส่ทุกมือในมุมมอง 1st-person
One of the greats.
KF1 > KF2
-runs good on anything
-is 7gig not f**king 100+
-characters are cheesy and funny
- ITS ALL ABOUT THE DOSH MATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
men of culture will lose their last bits of decentcy to self as they attempt to solo a long HoE run, as the children whine once more about slide canceling in the latest call of duty
As soon as I discovered that characters in this game speak in br*tish accent I downloaded Hatsune Miku character mod. Now I don't even understand a single word she says, but it's definetely better than br*tish accent.
Killing Floor is awesome, there's nothing wrong with it, works as intended. Group up with people and kill things. Just don't die, death is boring. Might need a lower difficulty setting I'm not sure and a Story mode but there's nothing wrong with it as is.
I used to be a beat cop a long time ago.
And I'd get called out on domestic disputes all the time, hundreds probably over the years.
But there was this one guy, this one piece of shit, that I will never forget. Gordy, he looked like Bo Svenson, you remember him? Walking Tall? You don't remember? Anyway, big boy. 270, 280. But his wife, whatever she was, his lady...was real small. Like a bird. Wrists like little branches. Anyway, my partner and I got called out there every weekend, and one of us would pull her aside and say "come on, tonight’s the night we press charges." And this wasn’t one of those deep-down he-loves-me set-ups — we get a lot of those — but not this. This girl was scared. She wasn’t going to cross him, no way, no how. Nothing we could do but pass her off to the EMT’s, put him in a car and drive him downtown, throw him in the drunk tank. He sleeps it off, next morning out he goes. Back home.
But one night, my partner’s out sick, and it’s just me. And the call comes in and it’s the usual crap. Broke her nose in the shower kind of thing. So I cuff him, put him in the car and away we go. Only that night, we’re driving into town, and this sideways asshole is in my back seat humming "Danny Boy." And it just rubbed me wrong. So instead of left, I go right, out into nowhere. And I kneel him down, and I put my revolver in his mouth, and I told him, "This is it. This is how it ends." And he’s crying, going to the bathroom all over himself, swearing to God he’s going to leave her alone. Screaming … as much as you can with a gun in your mouth. And I told him to be quiet. Cause I needed to think about what I was going to do here. And of course he got quiet. Goes still. And real quiet. Like a dog waiting for dinner scraps. And we just stood there for a while, me acting like I’m thinking things over, and Prince Charming kneeling in the dirt with shit in his pants. And after a few minutes I took the gun out of his mouth, and I say, "So help me if you touch her again I will such-and-such and such-and-such and blah blah blah blah blah".
Just trying to do the right thing. But two weeks later he killed her. Of course. Caved her head in with the base of a Waring blender. We got there, there was so much blood you could taste the metal. The moral of the story is: I chose a half measure, when I should have gone all the way. I’ll never make that mistake again.
No more half measures, Waltuh.
The game was pretty broken last year, dumbass weapons that are just... dumbass, like the nanite cannon thing.
I saw a guy cycle lanes with it and took almost all the kills.
People were still on pistols by round 4, by round 6 he had maxed everything and dumped all his cash.
I let the boss load in then quit, without spending any of the boring charity from a boring game.
How do they balance the broken weapons in this game though?
Add more broken weapons.
Then what?!
Even more broken weapons.
It's prolly an idle clicker game by now, not that I'll ever play again since they nerfed the medic. I only ever really played medic and had refined my own novel style.
I was working on being able to take down a flesh pound with just a scapel, but they changed the whole feel and ability of the medic.
so I quit and deprived the game of a really great SMG based medic.
I read many other medics also quit then too (patch note comments).
For the medic, they unbalanced the skills, nerved massively and added more broken weapons to the other classes.
Also the hardmode player base is super toxic.
Perhaps I'll go be a toxic medic for the lols and get some use of of this ex fave game of mine.
Or perhaps troll with the nanite cannon or whatever.
because why not, the game is a joke now.
this is what the UK looks like in 2025
also the music in this game is a lot better than it is in the second, much more industrial and gritty, plus no shitty korn-ripoff vocals talking about abortion and god. the audio design in general is just better imo... guns sound amazing. even the 9mm has a punchy and satisfying sound that never gets old, say what you want about tripwire but they know how to make guns sound, look, and FEEL great, red orchestra 2 is a great example of that.
also, this game is not afraid to punish you with some hefty recoil, which is really nice and adds a solid challenge. i wouldn't call the gunplay "realistic" but it is close enough that it feels pretty damn good. the devs managed to make you feel weak at times, but also strong and badass as hell at other points. shooting the patriarch's limbs off with dual handcannons never gets old.
Played this game for the first time in nearly a decade today.
Was blown away by how easy it still was to pickup and play. The graphics still hold up fairly well today thanks to the gritty horror artstyle. Sad to see this game was abandoned and that the player base is nearly dead. Still recommend buying it on a good sale to play with friends or try out the singleplayer. Killing Floor is up there with the classic zombie games like CoD and L4D!
Although there is already published Killing floor 2, but I still love Killing floor 1.
BUT, It's still a good game to let you to practice your FPS gaming skills.
mark:7/10
Killing Floor is such a fun game. It is a great zombie game to just pickup and play.
Edgy, gritty, atmospheric, and badass
If you like CoD zombies and Left 4 Dead then you'll enjoy this game. Small playerbase can make it difficult to play with others but there's still a community out there
A better left 4 dead, not as popular, but it felt much more solid, a blend of good shooting mechanics and waves of zombies munch on you, who will survive?
Played this game as a kid and it's my #1 favourite. Well, that was back when gaming wasn't so censored. I finally bought the game for this account but realised that the perks and achievements don't work for me; strange, but besides all that, the game's alright. Would recommend.
Way better than killing floor 2. For one I can play it without it crashing. 2 its a lot harder than i remember and I like a challenge. If your looking for a O.G. survival round based shooter, this is it!
Personally, favorite pve shooter.
The soundtrack adds so much to the game.
9/10 - A classic, long grinds for perks but challenging and addictive game play.
Games fun and runs on lower end computers I got it on an old work pc of my grandmas and tried it and it run amazingly now that i bought and rebuilt a gaming pc I still play it even with a better pc its just a fun and addicting game
Great fun co-op survival shooter. Loved playing this with my pals back in the day and holds a lot of nostalgia for me. Gameplay is great if you've got some friends to play with
Fun game but I would recommend the 2nd at this point.
love that i finally have this game by being introduce by the vanoss crew and how they would play and have a ton of fun just vibing living life
This game is THE reason I ever made a Steam account. Playing on integrated graphics on a 2nd-gen i5, Killing Floor showed me the light and appeal that is PC gaming. Oozes atmosphere and is highly accessible, yet obscenely difficult if you start cranking the difficulty. A true classic Zombie-esque co-op shooter. Up there in the ranks of OG CoD Zombies and Left 4 Dead in my opinion.
This game is a must-play for zombie fans—straight-up primal vibes and super smooth optimization. If you’re a pixel hunter, this is your playground. The shooting mechanics? Chef’s kiss. You’ll be popping heads all day, no matter the range. The hitboxes are on point, and that little head sway gives you the perfect balance for ammo efficiency.
Pro tip: If you’re aiming for god-tier accuracy, grab a Fresnel lens—it levels up your visuals with zero edge distortion, making every pixel crystal clear. Also, do yourself a favor and stick to servers in your city (or as close as possible). That sweet 8ms ping? Absolute foundation for building your sniper tower of glory.
Next-level prep: ditch Wi-Fi and hardwire your rig with an Ethernet cable. Use a wired mouse, check those mouse skates for wear, and keep your mousepad clean. Sounds minor, but trust—when that critical pixel shifts shade at the end of a map, you’ll thank me for the spotless glide. Dust = death. No clean glide = no headshot streaks, and in this game, headshot streaks are life.
When it comes to mobs, you’ve got two types: the pushers (tank vibes) and the DPS dealers. DPS mobs will back up just enough for the debuffers to mess with your aim. This is when your headshot streaks need to be flawless. Nail your input and output lag, measure how long it takes for your finger to actuate the mouse switch, and calculate the exact milliseconds your micro-switch needs to click. Yes, we’re talking sweaty try-hard science here, but trust me, it’s the difference between clutching a wave and getting overwhelmed.
If you’re running max-difficulty servers, where waves hit 1.5k+ mobs (sometimes more), your survival depends on chaining 2-10 headshots per boss-tier enemy. That’s the meta. And yeah, I’ve got a whole Bible on optimizing setups, crafting custom monitor-mounted scopes, and gameplay hacks, but for now, this should get you started.
Find your favorite maps or design your own, squad up, and assign roles: healer, sniper, tank, whatever. Every class is vital when facing endless waves and that final boss fight.
Final word: If you’re into precision shooting, this game’s gonna be a permanent fixture in your collection. Lock and load—enjoy the ride!
Good zom shooter. holds up to this day. only con muit player seems dead 9/10
