Killing Floor is such a fun game. It is a great zombie game to just pickup and play.
Edgy, gritty, atmospheric, and badass
If you like CoD zombies and Left 4 Dead then you'll enjoy this game. Small playerbase can make it difficult to play with others but there's still a community out there
A better left 4 dead, not as popular, but it felt much more solid, a blend of good shooting mechanics and waves of zombies munch on you, who will survive?
Played this game as a kid and it's my #1 favourite. Well, that was back when gaming wasn't so censored. I finally bought the game for this account but realised that the perks and achievements don't work for me; strange, but besides all that, the game's alright. Would recommend.
Way better than killing floor 2. For one I can play it without it crashing. 2 its a lot harder than i remember and I like a challenge. If your looking for a O.G. survival round based shooter, this is it!
Personally, favorite pve shooter.
The soundtrack adds so much to the game.
9/10 - A classic, long grinds for perks but challenging and addictive game play.
Games fun and runs on lower end computers I got it on an old work pc of my grandmas and tried it and it run amazingly now that i bought and rebuilt a gaming pc I still play it even with a better pc its just a fun and addicting game
Great fun co-op survival shooter. Loved playing this with my pals back in the day and holds a lot of nostalgia for me. Gameplay is great if you've got some friends to play with
Fun game but I would recommend the 2nd at this point.
love that i finally have this game by being introduce by the vanoss crew and how they would play and have a ton of fun just vibing living life
This game is THE reason I ever made a Steam account. Playing on integrated graphics on a 2nd-gen i5, Killing Floor showed me the light and appeal that is PC gaming. Oozes atmosphere and is highly accessible, yet obscenely difficult if you start cranking the difficulty. A true classic Zombie-esque co-op shooter. Up there in the ranks of OG CoD Zombies and Left 4 Dead in my opinion.
This game is a must-play for zombie fans—straight-up primal vibes and super smooth optimization. If you’re a pixel hunter, this is your playground. The shooting mechanics? Chef’s kiss. You’ll be popping heads all day, no matter the range. The hitboxes are on point, and that little head sway gives you the perfect balance for ammo efficiency.
Pro tip: If you’re aiming for god-tier accuracy, grab a Fresnel lens—it levels up your visuals with zero edge distortion, making every pixel crystal clear. Also, do yourself a favor and stick to servers in your city (or as close as possible). That sweet 8ms ping? Absolute foundation for building your sniper tower of glory.
Next-level prep: ditch Wi-Fi and hardwire your rig with an Ethernet cable. Use a wired mouse, check those mouse skates for wear, and keep your mousepad clean. Sounds minor, but trust—when that critical pixel shifts shade at the end of a map, you’ll thank me for the spotless glide. Dust = death. No clean glide = no headshot streaks, and in this game, headshot streaks are life.
When it comes to mobs, you’ve got two types: the pushers (tank vibes) and the DPS dealers. DPS mobs will back up just enough for the debuffers to mess with your aim. This is when your headshot streaks need to be flawless. Nail your input and output lag, measure how long it takes for your finger to actuate the mouse switch, and calculate the exact milliseconds your micro-switch needs to click. Yes, we’re talking sweaty try-hard science here, but trust me, it’s the difference between clutching a wave and getting overwhelmed.
If you’re running max-difficulty servers, where waves hit 1.5k+ mobs (sometimes more), your survival depends on chaining 2-10 headshots per boss-tier enemy. That’s the meta. And yeah, I’ve got a whole Bible on optimizing setups, crafting custom monitor-mounted scopes, and gameplay hacks, but for now, this should get you started.
Find your favorite maps or design your own, squad up, and assign roles: healer, sniper, tank, whatever. Every class is vital when facing endless waves and that final boss fight.
Final word: If you’re into precision shooting, this game’s gonna be a permanent fixture in your collection. Lock and load—enjoy the ride!
Good zom shooter. holds up to this day. only con muit player seems dead 9/10
l4d2 but fun and epic. love the game 10/10
This is the best game ever. It's like Left 4 Dead 2 if you had more guns and it was also combined with Call of Duty Zombies. If you wanna play with friends, download Radmin VPN, create a network, invite your friends to the network, create a listen server, and tell your friends to join thru LAN.
Good fun for the whole familly.
get the bot mutator
This game is one of those situations where... After KF2 came out, and enjoying the game ever so much, but either come back to KF1 because a friend or wanted to feel what KF1 is like... then realize how janky and very poor KF1 was, and never understanding so many liking KF1 and hating KF2 cause of not just nostalgia but don't like change,
I personally didnt like this game all that much due to how janky it is to heal as a Medic [and i mean legit jank hit detection], But just how janky and poorly optimized Unreal Engine 2.5 was and still is to this day [no, i have a good PC lol]
It's not all THAT terrible game though as the game is somewhat still okay, i just wish there was a "meh" recommendation, Cause while KF1 is the reason KF2 is what it was back then, it makes me appreciate that KF2 has improved so much compared to this mediocre garbage of a game and have it forever uninstalled.
but hey, that's just my opinion afterall. weither you like it or not.
Probably one of the best zombie horde mode shooters you'll ever play
Shame KF2/3 kind of got butchered after the publishers took over and muck things up
Fun old game. It's a shame that some achievements are not unlockable in 2024 (need other games or active players). KF2 is better BTW. Waiting for the third chapter!
Unistall KF2 and reinstall this.
There is no other solution if you want really play a good KF
Have fun.
better than killing floor 2, by the looks of 3, it'll be better than 3 as well...
The only downside to this game is that each run feels quite similar, with minimal variation. It lacks the roguelike concept that would typically make each run feel unique and provide a fresh experience.
While I wouldn't expect a roguelike concept in a game published in 2009, it's still worth noting that without that element, the gameplay can become repetitive over time. This issue can be easily overlooked if you're playing with friends, as the cooperative aspect adds a refreshing dynamic. However, for someone like me, who plays solo, it can get a bit monotonous. To keep things interesting, I find myself listening to music or news while slaying enemies, just to break up the repetition.
Besides that, Killing Floor is one of those games that we can keep playing ENDLESSLY, and despite its age, it remains incredibly worthwhile even at full price. I strongly recommend this game.
An absolute joy with friends, especially with the modded maps.
Played KF 2 before this one, KF 2 has a very speciaal place in my heart but this one, this one is getting its place too, it is also super fun (patriarch is op tho)
At first I find this game boring on the screenshots, when I saw the game is on sale, I immediately purchased it, after I launched, play the game, I was kinda hooked playing it, I can say it is a well made monster shooter deathmatch game, you will feel the crisp of every bullets that you fired when killing the monsters, hidden masterpiece, I will rate this game 9.5/10, I also purchased the second sequel as well cuz the game is quite entertaining, also I am now a new fan of this franchise.
If you like survival horror that relies on teamwork this game is for you but spoiler warning hope you are good with mouse and keyboard
very simplistic zombie shooter love it
I've always played Killing Floor 2 on my ps4. But now that I have a pc, I can play the first one now. Killing Floor 1 is so much fun! I highly recommend anyone who loves the second game to give the first game a try.
Reviewing every game I've played in my Steam Library. Game 23
Great CoOp Shooter, with lots of content.
It may be outdated by KF2 now but I don't have that game.
Çocukluğumda bokunu çıkardığım için şu an zevk alamıyorum. Ama çocukken zevk aldım onu diyeyim.
If you are looking for a survival PvE shooter with arcade elements, look no further. the brit voice actors are great, the graphics hold up in 2024 (soon 2025!!) There are a lot of maps for seasons, Such as: Halloween, Christmas, and Summer. i enjoy the class system, playing as a class and completing their challenges to get buffs is highly rewarding.
Please, give this game a try. It's fun :D
about this game is really great atmosphere horror, make me feel uncomfortable, but then this game really fun gameplay with atmosphere horror
One of the best games i have played.
Very simple, skill based and a lot of fun. The multiplayer is a small group but generally comprised of really decent people who like gaming skilfully-rather than mess around and die.
It's an old game but I would rather play this then anything I have seen in this genre for a long time.
I just discovered this game, I'm playing alone so it's super intense I wonder if I get less enemies because I'm playing solo? anyways this feels amazing a lot of details put into this game it's a bit of a sad vibe seems like I'm just late to a party I can see a lot of blood was already spilled in these floors so I feel a bit nostalgic but the game runs fantastic and just keeps me coming back for more! I guess maybe I do like playing alone this way it gets scary af !!!!
This game is FIRE its like call of duty and left 4 dead it was a 2 dollar on sale game from my steam wallet.
What a steal for 2 dollars !!
Killing Floor such a classic game, a game that cannot be imitated or replicated, it is completely unique, the atmosphere of horror and with a completely new aesthetic for many games of the time, I really recommend it.
And it hurts me a little. It hasn't had a boom in popularity and comparisons with Left 4 Dead bother me, both games are completely different.
My love to this game is endless.
I highly recommend it, a classic that, although it has a small and inactive community, its essence is unrepeatable.
An extremely good and addictive game, it has a great replay factor that is based on leveling up with various classes available in the game by performing specific tasks. There is also a large arsenal of weapons at the player's disposal, which the player can adapt to each character build during gameplay. I recommend it, especially during promotions.
from a game from 2009 and made as a mod from Unreal Tournament 2004 in 2005, It still has the best gameplay and gunplay co-op i've ever played and the guns from a 15 year old game still sounds so satisfying from 2009. So good job to the original developers who made this, you made some of the best gunplay i've ever play.
If Im being honest this game is super choppy you don't even have a sprinting mechanic to get out of tight situations and you'll just die on the spot. It does not have even a controller support which is pretty bad then again its 2009 so you get what you pay for I guess. I thought it be a good alternative for COD zombies, I was wrong...
not good. You just get overwhelmed immediately and die. No strategy, no fun, just die. Not even worth it for 90% off.
I'm writing this just for the sake of a review, as I've nominated the game for the "Labour of Love Award" during the 2024 Autumn Sale. I want to see Killing Floor 3 be a throwback to the original KF 1, with added benefits from the second game as too, if possible - however, I'm yet to play KF 2, so I can't say much about that.
Regarding KF 1 (the original, i.e., this game), I really don't have to say much - the gunplay is really satisfying and fun, the progression can be a little bit grindy - however, the game is meant to be played with friends. So don't rate the game based off of your experience in playing it solo - I've done my fair share of that, and I'm willing to defend the game even there. The atmosphere is very fitting, because the ambience is equal parts terrifying and melancholic, like you would expect in a semi-apocalyptic game such as this. And the icing on the cake is mods - you've got plenty of them available at the Steam Workshop, and it adds uncountable hours of fun to the base game. Scrake Nader's mod pack comes to mind. SO don't hesitate. Just grab both this and the sequel, KF2, while it's on sale. And hopefully, KF3 will be a good combination of the two games! Tripwire, please don't lose touch with the original game!

A Great Game!
A classic zombie shooter, perfect for cooperative play with friends, offering a challenging and thrilling experience.
Got the game again to try out multiplayer, and I was too late to the party.
I remember playing this back in the day with a week pass so It's a good nostalgia trip but... that's really it.
god tier pve co-op shooter from the long forgotten era where developers knew how to make fun games with a dark aesthetic, unique sense of style, and deep co-op mechanics instead of harping on turning everything into a sterile hero shooter with smarmy self-referential humor where everyone can just run and slide around hopped on speed without having to actually, you know, co-operate
this unique mix of dark and foreboding survival horror aesthetic and feel combined with genuinely funny campy humor is something we'll never see again, it's a true product of its time in the best way imaginable
It's a great example of an excellent zombie game. A lot of guns, characters, atmospheric maps and a great songs.
This is a true classic of cooperative shooters. Despite its age, the game can still offer hours of thrilling action, especially in the company of friends. If you value teamwork and enjoy fighting hordes of monsters, Killing Floor is definitely worth a try.
I'm old. I remember this game back in the days of Gmod animations for this, I remember the UT2004 mod for it. I remember when servers were completely full across the board. This is the best Killing Floor entry ever. It is creepy, badass, and difficult all at the same time. It's perfect - it's what Killing Floor was really meant to be.
Now, it's a bit rough around the edges and old. There's only one main boss, and the game is slower compared to KF2. Other than that, it's an amazing game.
killing floor 1 is way beter opter mized then kf2 i hope kf3 is as opter mized as kf1
