If Im being honest this game is super choppy you don't even have a sprinting mechanic to get out of tight situations and you'll just die on the spot. It does not have even a controller support which is pretty bad then again its 2009 so you get what you pay for I guess. I thought it be a good alternative for COD zombies, I was wrong...
not good. You just get overwhelmed immediately and die. No strategy, no fun, just die. Not even worth it for 90% off.

A Great Game!
A classic zombie shooter, perfect for cooperative play with friends, offering a challenging and thrilling experience.
Got the game again to try out multiplayer, and I was too late to the party.
I remember playing this back in the day with a week pass so It's a good nostalgia trip but... that's really it.
god tier pve co-op shooter from the long forgotten era where developers knew how to make fun games with a dark aesthetic, unique sense of style, and deep co-op mechanics instead of harping on turning everything into a sterile hero shooter with smarmy self-referential humor where everyone can just run and slide around hopped on speed without having to actually, you know, co-operate
this unique mix of dark and foreboding survival horror aesthetic and feel combined with genuinely funny campy humor is something we'll never see again, it's a true product of its time in the best way imaginable
It's a great example of an excellent zombie game. A lot of guns, characters, atmospheric maps and a great songs.
I'm old. I remember this game back in the days of Gmod animations for this, I remember the UT2004 mod for it. I remember when servers were completely full across the board. This is the best Killing Floor entry ever. It is creepy, badass, and difficult all at the same time. It's perfect - it's what Killing Floor was really meant to be.
Now, it's a bit rough around the edges and old. There's only one main boss, and the game is slower compared to KF2. Other than that, it's an amazing game.
killing floor 1 is way beter opter mized then kf2 i hope kf3 is as opter mized as kf1
I love this game 100%, too bad i've been away for so long.
Comparing this game to the sequel and to the upcoming 3rd game, I prefer this one.
The Aesthetic and the creepy vibe of it all.
I just hate that there's only one boss in the entire game. Yes you can add a new one but that mod is only gonna work for you alone or a server that has that mod or a server you made.
I didn't play this back in the 2000s so I am playing with a fresh perspective. But I do know one thing, this game makes me feel terrified and badass simultaneously. The experience is even better when this game is played with heavy metal or DOOM music in the background and that is an undisputed fact
I've been playing this on and off since 2013 and I'm somehow just not tired of it. Gameplay loop is crazy satisfying and never gets old even though this game can definitely be considered outdated to today's standards. This game is generally more difficult than the second title, which I prefer because it usually keeps me playing for longer, especially the way difficulty is designed for the Killing Floor series. Other games usually just make enemies into bullet sponges and make it so you receive more damage, which tends to end up being more annoying than it is fun.
Has a lot of achievements that will keep hardcore players coming back for the grind and the best part for me is that this game relies heavily on Co-op/ team play, but is still very much playable as a solo game as well.
Overall, I prefer my Co-op survival experience to be more like this rather than CoD zombies. This feels more tactical and avoids the strategy of training zombies mindlessly around in a circle at the best part of the map. That still exists in this game to an extent, but it's not very viable with all perk classes especially on higher difficulties.
Many people would not recommend this game anymore, since it is very much a dead game now at 15 years old, but I would say it's never too late to play a game as good as this. There's still time to get good enough and play casually with what's left of the hardcore crowd still playing online today in November of 2024.
With all of that said, I think I will eventually stop playing this one day soon when the 3rd title drops, but it is still possible to get hundreds of hours of enjoyment from this game even if you're late to the party with all of the available custom maps and mods from the workshop. For now, I'll keep basking in all the nostalgia this game brought me and enjoy it until my time has come to move on to something else.
Don't let the Steam stats fool you: I've played the game for hundreds of hours.
Whether you're into more arcade shooters or tactical shit, this game WILL be for you.
You've played KF2 and didn't enjoy it that much? It's not bad, but me neither. And that's because the gem is this one, not the remake.
Stylistically it's not the most freshest title out there, of course, but it'll work on any machine today. The soundtrack is also pretty cool, though nowadays after over a decade of listening to it, I usually just listen to Doom's OST or Maidcore in the background. Don't do that: the tracks are really good.
Gameplay-wise it's not groundbreaking but does what we ask it to, and pretty damn well: violence, gore, tactical gear, goofy skins, nice coms presets, good map selection, global bullet times on crits (for that extra cool factor)... The only thing missing would be Brutal Doom's finishers but overall those aren't even needed with the amount of brain you can splatter everywhere.
The only downside I would give is the time it takes to level up each class. Do yourself a favour and level your main with a Workshop map or something.
Simply the best wave-based zombie game out there, period.
Played this game to absolute DEATH back in the LAN party days. I can barely stand it now because of how much I played it then, but still one of my top games to play with friends.
Great game, but at no point do you actually kill the floor so this is just false advertisement.
super fun nice gameplay loop n jus all round a gooooodtime, highly recommend
Dislike it and won't buy killing floor 2.
I won't play a game where you have to run to the store to buy weapons on a time limit.
No proper gun sights either.
i have bought this game for multiple artists to draw my waifu and it still works, i have made killing floor copies a form of currency.
Ótimo game! vale apenas para jogar com amigos.
Ótimo jogo recomendo a todos especialmente se tiver amigos para jogar juntos
самая мрачная зомби игра
only played for few minutes but i can certainly assure you it's fun
imagine killing zeds with metal music and slow mo cams and
blasting heads off with hand cannons
HELL YEA!
My love, I would wait until everyone was asleep and turn on the PC and play KF1 till 3 AM during school days when I was a kid.
Good and fun
i fell asleep while playing firebug on departed and we won this is awesome i love sleeping but also winning
Absolutely loved this game. Made a whole bunch of friends in the community. Shoutout to XPC and ZED. And dived fully into its map making using the SDK, so much time spent making maps that my wrists felt like they were going to explode.
The ultimate Halloween game.
I bought this game, but it turned out to be not what I expected at all. The graphics and sound leave much to be desired, and the controls are inconvenient. There is practically no plot, and the gameplay gets boring quickly. I do not recommend spending money on this game.
Great game, I got it as a bonus in the KF2 Deluxe ver. but even if so, this game is still pretty fire even after the years, I'd give it an 8/10
10/10
Make it free to play, I want to play with friends :)
Fun gameplay.
Pros
+ Classic Survival Horror: Killing Floor delivers a visceral and intense survival horror experience with hordes of gruesome zombies to fend off.
+ Diverse Perks and Weapons: The game features a variety of perks to specialize in, along with a wide array of weapons to choose from, allowing for different playstyles.
+ Replayability: With multiple maps, game modes, and challenging difficulties, Killing Floor offers plenty of replay value to keep you coming back for more.
+ Dedicated Community: Even though the game is older, it still has a dedicated community with active servers and mods.
Cons
- Dated Graphics: The game's visuals can look dated compared to more modern titles.
- Less Polished Gameplay: Killing Floor can feel clunky at times, with some mechanics and controls showing its age.
- Limited Content: Compared to its sequel, Killing Floor offers fewer maps, perks, and weapons.
- Lack of Recent Support: The game is no longer actively developed, meaning updates and bug fixes are less frequent.
Good game. fun simple shooter
fucking diabolical, 10/10
killing floor? more like floor killing
good game better than most games today
A classic from Tripwire made by one of the greatest devs John Gibson (who also made Red Orchestra and RS and did a collab with Torn Banner Studios, the first company to develop a successful melee combat PvP game). Unfortunately, they fired this brilliant mind for just having an opinion, now Tripwire is going downhill, just look what Killing Floor is becoming with the development of part 3, it is pretty much Overwatch with zombies. Or look at that other game called "Rogue Waters", wtf is this company doing now? We just needed the classics with the newest engines and that it is.
Ret4rt3t people (I know it is with a D, the thing you guys like lol) can whine and say 1000 things, but they can't deny that all the games John Gibson did were really fk1ng awesome and innovative, KF1, KF2, RO1, RS1 and RO2. Those games are the ones who made Tripwire have its prime, earn tons of money and have a community for a LONG period of time, just by saying that KF2 still has an average active community of 8k or more every single day of the week, RO2 is still breathing with 100 players (enough to fill 2 servers). KF1 is still alive with an average of 250. All of this statistics are from october of 2024 and those games have minimum 8 years in the market (KF2 is from 2016, RO2 is from 2011, KF1 is from 2009).
So, my advice to Tripwire is: Hire John Gibson again and I don't care if you guys censor him in ALL the media, but let him do his work because he was and he probably is still one of the best devs/CEOs you guys ever had.
If Killing Floor 1 is so good, how come there isn't a Killing Flo- OH MY GOD
I love killing floor
One of the best coop shooters ever! If you have a potato PC, it still works like a charm!
This is def one of the cornerstones of horde shooters. It is a bit dated now, but I still find the fun that can be had with the vanilla game bountiful. If you can get it with some friends, please do.
The floor is killing me :P
One of the greatest round-based survival games with awesome mechanics and maps. Has one of the scariest atmosphere's in a first person shooter.
a awesome game but if you can run it just buy the second
ez game
L O D S of E M O N E
Much better than KF2. The art style and vibe are much more eerie and immersive. The game is a little dated and takes some tweaking to run correctly on newer hardware, but it's worth the effort.
