Story:
The evil space pirate Krater has dispatched his robotic army to capture all of the planets in the system.
The only hope to stop him is Comit the Astrodian, a meteor man from the planet Astrodia who has a rocket pack attached to his back.
Kick Krater off each planet and take back the system.
Comit's Abilities:
Comit can use his rocket pack to boost and double jump his way through each stage while collecting yellow and red stars that give him lives or
allow him to entire bonus stages.
Development:
Comit is designed like early 90's platformers because it was actually created back then on paper. The first prototype was created in 2011. The current
incarnation started development in January of 2016. While simple in formula, the game was created to hold true to it's original 1994 blueprint with the
addition of a save system that was created to accommodate the modern style of game.

Comit the Astrodian
Has a total of 10 trading cards.
I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.
Comit the Astrodian is literally Sonic the Hedgehog, if he looked like a meatball, and could fly.
The gameplay is rather simple, being able to fly/dash in any of the 8 directions, horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Honestly, it's rather simple, being very easy. Each world has 3 parts (like acts in Sonic), with the final part of each world being a boss battle with some evil meatball looking guy named Krater. Each fight is laughably easy, maybe except for the last but they all feel really similar, not changing much in the boss pattern department. Unlike in Sonic, you don't drop your collectables on hit but rather have a health bar.
However, what makes me really enjoy this game is the movement, yes, you can fly, practically skipping the whole stage if you want to, but the sheer bounciness and slipperiness of Comit makes it a very fun time.
Collect stars, dash into baddies and defeat Krater in this short but fun Sonic-like (that should be the term to describe this game tbh)!
"Comit the Astrodian" is a very badly made Sonic/Mario bros ripoff, and I'm not kidding about how badly made this is, the word "comet" is misspelled in the title for starters. I wish that was the only problem with the game... but it's just the tip of the iceberg.
The first thing players must know about this is that the keyboard controls don't work properly, you can't jump and move in either direction at the same time. For a platformer, that's a death sentence, the game can't be played due to fundemental ineptitude on the part of the "developer" of this train wreck.
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result.
There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.
The controls and game handling are notably very clunky and unsmooth here. It's janky and unsatisfying to play... and any experienced gamer will tell you, the handling, responsiveness and general gameplay feel of the control scheme must be well polished for this kind of game to succeed. Unfortunately, this is something the developer seems to have phoned in, with little to no apparent gameplay testing. They dropped the ball on this one.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts.
PC gamers will be insulted by the presence of console peasant children's toy controller prompts, despite this being on PC. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're developing for.
Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the GameMaker Studio construction kit/toolset. This is a very poor quality toolset favoured by amateur developers as it's cheap and requires little in the way of development skill, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. GameMaker Studio is most commonly used to make retro pixel shovelware and cash grabs.
A strong argument can be made that construction kits like GameMaker Studio should never be used to make games for profit, as the "developer", LunarCore Games has done here. These construction kits are intended to teach people some of the basic principles of game development, and to make small demos to pass around with friends. They're not intended to replace to actual work of real, professional game developers. So it's inappropriate when amateurs try to use these for profit, without any actual, real game development effort taking place. This doesn't result in products that have any real meaningful value for gamers.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. "Comit the Astrodian" has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for collecting 100 stars, trivial to achieve (if you can get the controls to work), but less than 5 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 5 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who didn't bother to played the game? Trading cards. People will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
"Comit the Astrodian" is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
very cute plataform game with a very cute mascot love the jet pack make the gameplay fast and enjoyable a must buy if you love indie plataform games
A fun little game that doesn't take too long to beat. Definitely going to play the rest of the games in the series! Works great on controller, did not try it with mouse + keyboard. Had a few bugs in boss battles/moving around in the levels, but nothing ever game breaking, just needed to boost out of the problems.
since nobody will read the reviews, i’ll say in this review i’m gay and i love crossdressing as a femboy
This is a good old fashioned platformer, which is fun to play even if it is a little on the easy side. Nice for just passing some time. Pretty good music as well.
this game is just a mixture from nes games and sonic combined and swallowed ,, and claimed like own
Comit is kind of like the Deadly Premonition of platformers.
You could write a book about it's numerous flaws yet it somehow manages to be fun. Who woulda thought?
THIS GAME IS JUST FUN. iT'S GREAT. I COULDN'T STOP PLAYING TILL I BEAT IT. THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT GAME.
Fun little platform game. A little bit rough around the edges, but it plays a lot like a mix of Sonic and Rocket Knight.
A short stress free platformer. Easy enemies and boss battles. You can literally fly through the levels and get every single steam achievement at the same time. If you've had a bad day, this game will make you feel better.
TL;DR - buggy, but enjoyable enough if you want a cheap and simple experience.
Comit the Astrodian doesn't really live up to its probable inspiration, Twinbee Rainbow Bell Adventure, but I was surprised to find I enjoyed it. It's a very simple, easy game without a lot of mechanics, and you can expect to get an hour to an hour and a half's playtime out of it. Unfortunately, the only reasons not to fly over the entirety of every level are the 1ups you earn from collecting 100 yellow stars, and the bonus games you access through red stars, which only net you more yellow stars. This gets improved upon somewhat in the sequel's level design and its new mechanics.
There's a few bugs, which is understandable for a new developer. You can sometimes get stuck in a wall or ceiling, but performing a dash will usually get you out. Air control after a dash is inconsistent. You can't toggle control between a gamepad's d-pad or analog unless you're toggling with the opposite control method. If you try to change the volume sliders while in the middle of a game, you will be manipulating them during gameplay once you exit the menu.
In spite of that, if you find it on sale and can deal with wonky collision, weird momentum issues, and a mediocre camera system, I'd recommend giving the game a shot.
I really enjoyed my time playing this game and cant wait to start number 2, it is definitely worth the price if you like these old style games
Not a perfect game.
Did I have fun, though? Yes. Was it worth the price I paid for it? Yes as well.
Let's first start with the flaws which are very real. This isn't a graphical masterpiece, which I can forgive. That said, there are so many glitches that I wish the programmers spent a little bit more time fixing.
Then there's the issue of control. Comit isn't that easy to handle, but I did get used to it.
I don't fault the game for being easy and short since it seems to be designed for retro enthusiasts, most which happen to be adults over the age of 30. Folks like this don't have tons of time to invest in a game, but they want something they can delve into right away with minimal tutorials.
The highlights are the music. Whoever composed this did a great job, and I hope they make music for plenty of other games in the future. In fact, if I can somehow acquire the soundtrack, I'd be very thankful.
Next is the sense of action. It's very satisfying to be able to rocket through a level. This is kind of similar to Sonic the Hedgehog in many ways.
As for the boss fights, they leave something to be desired. However, the final boss battle was incredibly fun.
Overall, I rate this a 3.5/5.
"A comet saves the universe"
Pretty cool platformer in the style of "Sonic the Hedgehog". You jump and run through many levels each with 3 stages. Beat the evil astrodian Krater in several boss levels. The game has just little flaws. Like the bounce on nearby walls or if you get stuck in lava or after you landed too harsh on an edge. Basically the game is pretty easy when you fly upwards and skyskip all levels. But you also shouldn't miss the 50 red stars til the end. Most defining is the cool techno soundtrack which differs in each level. Also the roguelike sprite graphics are not too bad. Mostly liked the sunburst level. Don't be afraid to testout this game and fail eventually. In the end I collected over 25x extra lives unused ...
This game is really short, I mean it takes less than 30 minutes to beat if you play it right, which by that I mean dont just boost over all obstacles. The idea is good and this game could be really promising if it was more challenging. It does control well with a controller though. The game is not worth two dollars however.
