A hardcore, open-world survival sandbox set in a post-apocalyptic world where players must scavenge, craft, fortify and fight to survive against hordes of infected and other players. Scenarios let you choose your zombie apocalypse story and difficulty.
Zombies
Zombies are slower and more docile during the day. When the sun sets they become alert, aggressive and are out on the hunt.
Vehicle Fortifications
Vehicles are fully fortifiable. Cover windows and add strength to gain the advantage. Attach a plow or lights to make your vehicle the ultimate survival machine.
Structure Fortifications
Every structure is fortifiable! Plank windows, doors and place free placed barricades to secure any structure.
Mobile Homes
Don’t want to live in a structure? No problem. Find an RV or similar vehicle and take your base with you. Cook, sleep and store your items in your mobile base.
Placement & Storage
Settle into your new home by using pegboards, player storage and blueprints to put your stamp on the place. Physically place your items in the world to make your perfect survival hideout.
Zombie Hordes
Hordes increase in difficulty over time. Challenging even the best players to progressively make their base stronger and better protected. The harder the horde, the bigger reward.
Nutrition & Hydration
Cook over an open fire or directly on a stove to manage your calorie and hydration needs. Maintaining your player vitals will increase your overall strength and carrying capacity over time.
Mental Health System
The mental health system discourages the "Kill On Sight" mentality, promoting alliances for better survival against the zombie threat. While PVP is still a factor, players have ways to correct a negative mental state.
Hunting
Sick of baked beans? Head out into the wilderness to hunt for larger animals.
Crafting & Inventory
Simplified text-based inventory and crafting allows us to greatly expand on in-game items and crafting possibilities.
Blueprints
Blueprints let you visualize your free-placed fortifications before you build them. Layout your base and build it as you gather materials.
Weapon Customization
Weapon attachments let you customize your gun and get it just right for your play style.
Traps
Use traps to get the upper hand. Traps can give you the edge when zombies or raiders arrive.
Vehicle Maintenance
Every vehicle is repairable. Engine and wheel parts are required to get a vehicle running. Items can be stored in trunks and on truck beds.
Electrical System
Powering a structure can provide light to make nighttime activities easier. Some structures also require electricity to power interior and exterior doors.
Farming
When food stores start to run out, turn to farming for your calorie needs. Protect your crops indoors under light or grow them outside in the warmer months to produce food that will last through winter.
Zombie Numbers
Optimizations allow the game to handle massive amounts of zombies. They might be slow but numbers can really get the better of you.
Server Hosting & Solo Play
Simple game hosting that uses steam relays. There’s no need to port forward. Simply choose your settings and start playing.
Scenarios
Browse through official and community-made scenarios to find your perfect zombie experience.
Customizable Experience
Can’t find your perfect scenario? With over 100 configuration options, you can set things up just how you like them. Once you’re done, you can upload your world save to the Steam workshop for others to enjoy.
POIs
Explore the different points of interest to find valuable location-specific loot.
Weather & Seasons
The weather is dynamic including all four seasons along with seasonal vegetation and foliage.
Day & Night Objectives
Spend your days preparing to survive the onslaught at night. Zombies are more aggressive and alert when the sun goes down.
Day Objectives: During the day, focus on resource gathering and fortification. Fell trees, craft planks, engage in hunting and trapping. Collect loot, food, and fortify a structure. Ensure doors and containers are locked, fuel generators, and prepare power systems. Keep your health up by lighting fires, crafting bandages, and gearing up for the night.
Night Objectives: At night, prioritize safety and stealth. Team up with friends in a secured structure, favor melee over firearms to stay quiet. Activate generators, power up structures, set traps, and cook meals indoors on wood stoves. The key is to survive until morning.
Steam Achievements
If achievements are your thing, we’ve got you covered. With almost 100 achievements, you’ll be busy for some time. Can you ‘Choke a Chicken’?
Plans for Future Updates
Expand electrical systems - This will include electrical traps, house alarms, heating systems, working stoves, more lighting in towns and roadways, light towers, functioning water pumps (water tied to power).
Expanding weapons - New weapons and improved handling.
Additional vehicles - Expanding on “mobile survival” such as adding box trucks, trailers and light aircraft.
Fishing - Spend your days shore side with a line in the water, if you think it’s safe.
Character customization - A full scale character customization feature including the implementation of a female character
Expand on STN+ and Workshop - This includes more furniture, structure painting, holiday lights and decorations, proper Steam workshop implementation and working arcade’s with API.
Grouping system - Players can join a grouping system with friends.
Island wide community missions and events - Come together to clear out larger structures. Band together and share your loot to repair the power station and provide the entire island with power.

I gotta give props to the developer and I really hope he polishes the game up like movement, zombies etc but a decent game
Constant server interruptions even when playing Solo, the Tutorial is clunky and not intuitive, constantly lagging and disconnecting from the server. In it's current state I do not recommend, Game has potential, but needs a LOT of work.
Pretty broke, generally. You use items automatically sometimes (and hoarding is the name of the game), and just general jank that would be enough to put any other game down. However, someone cared about this project and it's playable and fun. I like how you can tell the devs were not American in origin because the firearms and vehicle minutiae aren't very accurate.
Not really a complaint though, just charming.
*allows comments* Let's go, baby
Update: so the automatic item use comes from when you have something highlighted in your inventory and then open your inventory or a submenu using E, and sometimes Tab. Seems to only happen with food and medical supplies, but other things under these conditions get selected- however not used (e.g. selecting the power drill for no reason). Pretty silly and annoying to keep my finger over Escape every time I open a screen requiring "E" or whatever, but here we are.
On the positive side; the more I play it, the more I figure it out (and figure it's jank out) and adapt to those things. Took me 3 deaths or so to get some satisfying runs.
And whatever you do AVOID WATER. You will drown while treading water like a bitch.
The small walls placed around will suspend your car and you can't push it off. Death trap for you vehicle.
very niice
so so so much fun!
trash quality..
I would really like to drop a positive review, but at this point i can´t. Yes there are a lot of bugs and glitches and annoying things etc., but that wasn´t the problem for me. The concept of the game is perfectly what i was looking for and i had a lot of fun playing it. I had a fully fortified RV with hundreds of items stored inside. The last times i logged in a lot of my things were gone. That continued everytime i logged in again until now most of my items are gone and my RV is nearly naked again. I just can´t continue playing this game, 40hrs for nothing is not acceptable and nobody is willing to help me...
And for the record: I´m on a PVE Server and my RV is everytime securely locked in a garage. It´s definitely lost to bugs (e.g. last time i saw my container floating high in the air).
So don´t waste your time and money here.
I have bought some early access games lately and after 1-2 hours of game play I always had to ask refund because something was wrong with the game. After I started to play Survive the Nights I was sure that's going to happen with this game also. I was looking for reasons to stop playing but surprisingly that didn't happen. More I played, more I liked this game. I'm huge fan of survival/zombie type of games and Survive the Nights didn't disappoint me. The game is not flawless, but its early access game. Gotta tell you - after 8+ hours I'm liking this game more and more. This one was a good purchase and can't wait what future updates are going to be. Thumbs up!
Too many mechanics are half baked or tedious and unfun. I'd go into detail but it would be just as boring as the game. Poor item codes and an incomplete wiki as well as an inability to parse quantities means you need to grind for everything, the console isn't very informative or useful, and overall they keep adding more BS without refining whats already there. ripoff.
Like 7 days to die, some things I like better some things are not as good. Need a few more hours.
HUGE potential, but as if now I just can't recommend it, maybe later I will change my review to positive, once they fix all the bugs, especially for solo play. Also there should be a lot more stuff to craft and build to defend and decorate your house, there's walls and spikes but not even a gate? Tables but no chairs? (unless you buy them with real money, then you can build chairs lmao)
its ok, cant recommend because the game isnt even finished but of course they are trying to sell you flair. piss off with this kind of stuff im so tired of it.
Game is honestly pretty fun if you dont come with high expectations. Devs are still working on it and what you see now isnt a final product but the concept is very good and its more finished than dead matter.
love this game and worth the price
very fun!!!!!! i would recommend needs more improvements to the game
Wholesome Game
Personally recommend on waiting on this game. it has potential, but because of how small the team is it may take a while to reach that potential
Got this game on sale for $9 Got to say the game is pretty fun to play and would honestly say its one of the decent zombie games out there. Don't get me wrong it need more updates and a lot more content but I could see this game becoming something bigger just needs some work. I love the RV! One last thing dear Devs please make it so headshots with gun is one shot kill and also make it so the zombie can bite you which will infect you also make it so the zombies can fight back better and please fix the bug where if you kill a zombie with gun it respawns near or behind you.
so many survival games dont have moveable bases and retro games within the game and a movie theater ? it has potential to be a unique one. a good time killer.
i havent played it for very long yet but it is very entertaining and has interesting functions/mechanics, it just needs more players very badly.
Hey' guys this is my experience with the devs and community honest to god they are one of the most over and beyond caring creators I've met, they have lovely people helping them on this massive project I've spent lots of time with the people and the devs and if your looking for a new game to try well id give this awesome game a try if you haven't thought about it already. they work hard on there updates and there over all bugs/fixes the map is massively huge and have lots to explore if you like free adventurers. HUGE THANKS TO THE TEAM THEY ARE SO HELPFUL AND ALWAYS LOOKING FOR WAYS TO IMPROVE THERE PLAYER BASE EXPERIENCE.
This game was a HUGE let down for zombie survival games. Back in the day when you could greenlight games I did just that with this one because they promised so much and it looked so good. Not only did it take them almost a decade to finally release this game even after going above and beyond there kick starter goal, but it is still so far from being finished it'll be completely outdated by the time its done. The other thing that has totally deterred me from playing this game is that when you die you start over and lose all your stats and there is no option to change this. I'm a casual gamer with limited time because I work and don't have time to restart my character every time I end up dying. I don't understand why they can't put a simple option in the game to disable that.
yeah cool i guess. spent the first 30 minutes trying to fistfight a zombie, i won.
11/10 game would fistfight a zombie again
very nice
Bought on sale, screenshots and video show cool vehicle customisation. Wander the map for 4 hours looking for a vehicle to make a killdozer and traverse the apocalypse in it. Can't find any vehicles. Check community discussion, vehicles haven't been spawning in game for months, maybe years.
Fuckin scummy ass devs for advertising a major feature that doesn't work at all.
muuuch love
They must have sped up the trailer game play because this game is super buggy for me. I got it on a discount for $7 and it was worth that much but I do not recommend anyone buying at its full price. I will keep the game because it was only $7 and I hope the devs will fix the issues however, the game has been out for so long in early access I doubt they are trying to fix anything any time soon. I played all of 15 minutes and could not take the stutter, lag, and poor overall game play.
I purchased this game on release thinking this game was going to be updated and major bugs fixed. Years later and it just gets worse?! I should’ve tested this game out before suggesting to my friends. Don’t waste your money
This is a super difficult review to write. I debated whether I should make it positive or negative for a whole week. You can see what I ended up with. This game has many cool ideas, some unique to it. The ability to watch movies within the game is dope, I wonder how no other game came up with that idea. Hordes every night sound like a super challenging premise. Upgrading your car with spikes to make running zombies over easier is great. So, you might ask, what is your issue then??? Well... It feels like a Frankenstein game. Taking what's best from all the known titles like DayZ or 7 Days to Die or Nazi zombies and then just- making it mediocre.
-You can assign skills both by levelling up and reading books, kinda like 7DtD. But reading books is tedious and it requires you to set it up, and then spend around 20 real life minutes to read one book for one point, but you can only read when you're "resting" so when you're in a safe place near a fire. When you level up you can assign multiple points, so spending those 20 minutes farming XP instead of walking around your base is both more fun and more efficient.
-You can set horde intensity to be every night, which is the default option, every 3 days, or 7, you get the point. The 7 days is a dev-made scenario and its description basically says "yep we went there, enjoy." At first, I was terrified of the nightly hordes - the game tells you you can either fight or stay stealthy to avoid them. Again, sitting around without doing much for the entire night, maybe read a book then? Good idea! But wait, if you do decide to fight, the horde turns out to be... super underwhelming. SUPER underwhelming. The biggest issue is stamina, and it's not an issue if you're in a building with literally like 4 planks on each window.
-Speaking of planks on windows, you can take a structure and barricade it, putting planks on windows and locks on doors. Kinda like nazi zombies. Cool. But if you plank the entire window you can't attack the zombies destroying it from the outside, which you realize early on, so you make these slits for zombie killing and just sit behind the window hacking away. Not as fun as it is in 7DTD, cause there is no real danger to it.
-Danger. Oh boy. I've played for about an in-game week. And every night I chose to fight the horde. And every night I got an ominous message "horde difficulty raised to 2". yeah, every night. Cause when the next horde approached, supposedly level 2, I got a message that it's level 1 and the difficulty level is raised to 2. After a week of that I just got bored.
-The map is tiny. They're trying to correct it by forcing you to drive around (super around) because some roads have obstacles you can't drive through, like rockslides. And there wouldn't be anything bad about the map being small if the entire game didn't try to convince you that resources are scarce, making game modes where the resources do not respawn. I don't see why you would ever move out of your starting location if the loot respawned.
-Oh, there is one reason, actually. There is a power-plant that goes off sometimes and you have to restart it to bring power back to the map. There is no but here, it's a cool mechanic, especially on bigger servers.
-Ah, yes, servers. The game is online-only. Even if you wanna play singleplayer, which I did, you have to be online and set up a server, which means there is no pause button. You wanna pause the game, you gotta leave to the menu. And then the horde night is postponed and, yet again, restarted to 1. This isn't unique - That is the way DayZ rolls, too. But the biggest difference is that DayZ's map is huge, resources are truly scarce and moving a quarter across the map is a journey you have to plan out. This isn't the case here. It's just too easy.
The coolest thing in this game that I wish more games would implement is being able to turn a car into your home. There are buses and RVs and you can actually put storage boxes and fireplaces inside them, to make a mobile base. Especially the RV is clearly meant to be used this way, since you can set it as your respawn point.
tl;dr There is very little that this game does better than its competitors on the market. What you see in the screenshots on this page is the best this game has to offer. Maybe get it if you got a big crew, but on sale.
Disclaimer: this is a SIMP review. Curious?
gay
great and exciting game kinda reminds me of both project zomboid and dayz, and I love it
I have spent a very long time playing this game where most games like this work from the start and build up hence the (early access) just like every other game there is always going to be bugs you gotta have patience updates come as more people give them feedback in there discord group I recommend playing the game with others I run a server and if you take your time to enjoy it I've witnessed every update over rhe span of time and they are working towards what most people want in the game 10/10 for me
liked it but they took away the ability to use admin codes in solo mode. no longer wish to play it.
We have zomboid and 7 days at home
Great Game!!!
SOD and Walking D Vibes!!!
You really have to power through all the issues this game has to enjoy it. Ive been following the kickstarter for I feel like a decade and i wish the devs could hire enough people to polish it bc i feels like a passion project too grand for however many people are working on it right now
STN+ was NOT part of the game when I bought this. They are now locking mechanics and map areas they add into the game BEHIND STN+ but still forcing it to take up space on your drive.
It´s a good game its one that i like so a thumbs untill it change
This game is just too dark. It's hard for me to play it for a long time, and even though it's open world, it seems to be very dated (2017 release). The zombies look like the original versions of what's in 7 Days to Die. The crafting system is a bit overwhelming and confusing. I still keep coming back to try to get through the game, but can never stay on long enough to really enjoy it. If it's on a very low price sale, I might recommend a pickup, but then again with the poor lighting and dated graphics maybe it would be best to just watch some YouTube playthroughs instead.
Oh what this game could have been
The game was fun in the beginning, but as time goes on you just encounter more and more bugs. The game has been out for almost 8 years and it is still a broken mess, there is no way to 'party' up with your friends to know where everyone is, half the time when you swing on a zombie it doesn't register for a couple seconds leading you to take damage. I hate the fact that if you die you have to restart your levels and perk points making the game nerve wracking over just stupid fun. My husband and I played on a world for 9 hours and realized about 7 hours in that there were no cars at all, we traveled the map trying to find cars but the entire game was bugged to give no cars even after messing with the settings. Leaving the game before it becomes the next morning makes the host respawn at their bedroll even across the entire map, the hordes bug out and say you've leveled up to the next horde but low and behold the next horde night is "Horde 1" again. I love zombie games and was very excited for the idea of this one, but I'd leave it until they can actually begin to care about the game. It's the next "7 Days" with how many years it's been in early access without actually changing anything.
Honestly I want to love this... but I cannot recommend this game for the amount of game breaking bugs it has. I have put in 12 hours of playing, and these are the bugs that have caused me to restart, your across the world from base, leave game and all the way back at base it utilizes Terraria save exits and it feels like a bug because it only happens to the host, something that affects all players of the world is that vehicles just randomly despawn and don't respawn not very fun for a massive map. Oh and zombie hordes reset if you leave the game for all players as well.
Solid start to what may end up being a fantastic game. Very small development team - so there is bound to be issues. They are responsive and hardworking.
Bustin makes me feel good
it good, hit zombie dead
Good/fun game that still has a few bugs and tweaks that need to be implemented. If you like survival and crafting games, I highly recommend it!
Solid game, just keep updating and making it better.
Tried to do the tutorial got clean clothes was never able to craft them into bandages it just kept crafting sleeping bags
Well, got it on sale and had a few hours of fun, so I gotta give it thumbs up for the price. However, it's a bit of a disappointment for how long it's been in early access. I expect a heck of a lot more content by now both in quantity and quality. There are 3 animals and very little variation on the zombies. Sure, some run faster but I didn't encounter anything special. Of course, I only played solo PVE so maybe that limited my experience. The vehicle system is nice but the devs need to give the core game play more love. Get it on sale and game on!
