i mean its not bad from what i played
i just don't see myself coming back to complete it
Game is repetitive and colorblind-phobic LOL.
basic, openworld-y just to force you to grind and farm.
An unbalanced, buggy piece of shit.
All the negative reviews are deserved and more. You can't customize the buttons, little control in the options.
The game is a grind and most of the things are complete garbage. The heroine is terribly weak in stamina and strength and almost nothing improves her. The robots are stupid and are only useful as bolin balls.
After level 15 you have to start grinding and searching everything just to get through the main story.
Even the achievements are not adjusted correctly, for example 27 flasks and it says you found them all, but there are many more but you don't even know how many.
The menu is poorly made and you have little control over it. The robots you communicate with should have audio, not subtitles. You find the audio and one of them is on a robot and you don't know what it's saying because they don't have subtitles, and the entire conversation is written in the audio menu.
The level system is garbage, a dungeon that tells you there are enemies, they are level 26, they are barely level 20, and a dungeon that tells you there are 5, they reach level 10.
Everything in the game has a defense or shield except for the stupid human who has an almost useless rifle at times and everything he touches hurts him as if it's being slammed into him with a lot of force.
The levels are sometimes repeated and the tasks are the same.
Reach the end with three tasks for bonus things, one is for time, the other is to hit 8 targets and the last one is to get a yellow ball and sometimes it is missing which is a bug. But for the biggest prize, you have to do all three things together.
The enemies and battles are repeated, the terrain is small with a lot of empty spaces, the illusion is that it looks big.
The story is quite bad and confusing and nothing was understood at the end.
The sand is so stark white that I had to turn down the brightness quite a bit.
Some small enemies can't even be destroyed or some of the commands don't even execute correctly.
And the game loads slowly and on one map you have to wait a long time to see certain dungeons.
The additional territory has the same nonsense plus races.
This game needs a terrible overhaul and the creators should stop making games because it's obvious they don't understand this, they'd be better off cleaning toilets.
I gave this game a second chance after buying it on day one for the Xbox One, many years ago. Enjoyed it much more this time. Not for everyone but for the right kind of gamer looking for a AA game with excellent controls and a mid level budget, give it a try. It gets frustrating at times but it can be beaten.
Hello Friends,
So i decided to play recore definitive edition to see how it is. This game is a sci fi platforming game. That sounds like a weird mix of games, but that is what the game is.
The main character is a Female protaganist named Joulee who has been sent before ships arrive on a planet to terraform it. The story is some plague, called the Dust Devil, has infected earth, so many people are moving to different planets to escape the plague. Sounds familiar? For most of the game, it has alot of platforming, so you better have a good controller to use with the game. Near the end of the game, the platforming gets quite difficult and the level of monsters are very high, so i recommend leveling up as much as possible in the game to get as high level as possible. Anyways, here is my pro/cons list:
PROS:
- Three robot friends to find and help you out.
- Many side dungeons off the beaten path.
- Lots and lots of different pieces to build using blueprints at a workshop for your robot friends. There are so many i did not even finish building them all by the time i beat the game.
- The storyline is interesting, but i wish they would of dwelled deeper into it. There is also some hints that a sequel was planned at one time.
CONS:
- Near the end of the game is a very steep difficulty curve. If you don't want to take the time to explore every nook and cranny of the maps, your going to find the last level is very difficult. If not, expect to do some grinding late game. If you explore all the dungeons and try to get all the stuff, you should be allright near end of game.
- Timed dungeons were never something i thought of as something good, even in console games. I like to take my time and explore locations, not rush to the goal to get a reward for how much time i have left. Timed dungeons are a turn off. Luckily, the main story dungeons are not timed, so this only applies to the side dungeons.
- Play with a controller. I believe the game is much easier with a controller.
I recommend this game for a great Sci Fi platformer with robot friends in the game. The fact they had timed dungeons in the game does turn it off a bit for me. Even in Final Fantasy games, i do not really like the timed dungeon areas. I also recommend playing it with a controller. It is much easier to play with one.
I had a blast playing the game and so far had only around 2 or more glitches that happened when playing the game.
The game is pretty but will tend to get stale when you are traversing through miles/kilometers of desert with no
real end in sight. There are guides and links to increase how pretty the piles of sand are on the planet you intend to
figure out what the hell happened for your stay.
The main focus on your abilities would be centered around your mechanical fellows in a whimsical planet that has
nothing but other robots that intend to kill you because you exist. You companions are quite responsive when you
give them an order to attack and can either be spammed to tackle an enemy into a pile of scrap or grant you some sort
of shield from whatever BS that may hit you off screen. You own attacked however how redundant it may feel, will increase in power each time you level up and hit the enemy harder than last time. Your rifle has some rechargeable battery pack so you never have to worry about ammo.
Story it is straight forward but decent enough for you to justify killing any robot that is not your upgradable companions. There is also another story that involves some kind of revolution but never got the time to really play the game that involves performing sick burnouts in the sand to get some flying balls trying to get away from you. Doing the quest will give you different gun upgrades that will be different from your standard charged shot alt fire.
The only issue however that some things involving the story requires you get get a certain number of items to progress through the story, so any form of saying 'f*ck it', and beeline to complete the story would end up being tedious.
Overall it is a good game that is easy to pick up and fun to master all your abilities at your disposal to collect all the items on the map until it is truly a barren desert. Intending to try to complete it faster than a playtime of 12hrs will start to feel like an endless grind when the environment is nothing but desert, rocks, and scraps on the rocks in the desert. I recommend to play the game on an off AND get it on sale, AND and the XGS classic bundle get more band for you buck.
still a fun romp to go around and kick robot butts while working on making my little bot buddies stronger.
TLDR: Do I recommend it? Only if it interests you and its on a good sale.
I get nostalgic about this game every time i see it, I remember the hype of that trailer. I remember thinking finally another competitor to metroid. finally we have more cyborg robot stuffs. Then I played it and it was alright, but it reminds me of the beginning of the era of the 8th generation of consoles and for that I give it a nod.
This is one of those games where the character, NPC, and environment tell you what to do, handholding the entire time instead of letting the player figure things out.
The only time when you arent being told what to do is when you are fighting, and even then there will be indicators directing you to charge attacts or dodge, and the auto aim makes everything too easy.
I got stuck at one point, unable to progress unless I grinded several levels with unsatisfying and repetitive combat.
I respect my time, this game doesn't so I will not be playing further.
Maybe taking several months break from the game wasnt a good idea, but thats not my problem if I have a life. Thats game game developers failing to account for people having lives and not beating the game in one sitting.
It is such a shame since the game starts out with so much promise and just sort of drops off after about 2-3 hours.
It didnt do anything interesting with the story, characters or gameplay, just added complexity with the colour system.
The combat mechanics are also pooly thought out, your robot helper is useless if it doesnt match the colour of the enemy. (WHY)
You can only carry two robots at a time and enemies can be 4 colours. (WHYYYYY)
Why do we need like 6 robots. Just give me one and let me customize it.
Also your weapon cannot be upgraded. Everything is just levels and numbers. Pointless.
Mixed is right. Forget about this game. Its a waste of time.
1) Game is shallow and repetitive.
2) you can't upgrade your weapon.
3) You need to switch between robots all the time (that means going back to a fast travel point)
4) Griding is tedious and not rewarding enough
GOOD
straight up naw dawg, game wasent for me.
if u like hardcore shooters with some hardcore jumping puzzles ... its for you.
im way to old.
still a thumbs up cause the story and setting was what drove me to complete the base game story and DLC story. aint no way jose im doing the optional dungeons or achievement hunt this game.
6/10
Very. if you guys want exploring, looting and mostly killing evil like robots but also slight emotional story thats for you, even intersting mechanics, puzzles fun to to solve with the right companion of course. and shooting.
colorful and fun, feels directionless, but good time waster.
got this game for Xbox One and PC heres my review :
Xbox One : Is for people who can't afford a pc or a laptop you can play at 30fps up to 60 on Xbox One X.
Xbox Series (X) : if you chose the X one i really recommend you to buy the Physical version of the game / 120fps / 4k 1080p/ boost in-game/ amazing calculating details.
PC : you are playing the Xbox Series version but more enhanced! (without Xbox Live :) FREE FROM SPENCER)
I've had ReCore in my games-to-play list since it released back in 2016, and I only recent, finally gave it a try in 2024. I was attracted to the artwork in the trailers, but something about the game gave me pause. I'm here to say I was pleasantly surprised. The art of ReCore is indeed beautiful! The world feels dreamy and peaceful in a deceptively silent, post-apocolyptic way. Then the rogue robots come out of the cracks to meet you and remove you from the dune covered world. The protagonist, Joule, and her companions are endearing. The story, while a bit skeletal, perfectly brings the world to life and invites immersion; I was swiftly drawn into this game and loving it more than expected. As for the game-play mechanics, they are well designed and feel intuitive.
There are two caveats to my praise. First, I hate platformers, and this is a 3D platformer. I hate feeling pressed by a clock while jumping on platforms that I over shoot or under shoot, while trying to spot and shoot targets. Situations like these are just acts in frustration for me. Thankfully, you only experience this type of scenario in the "dungeons". That being said, the controls are responsive enough, mostly, that I thoroughly enjoy traversing the world and "platforming" when not racing a clock in the dungeons. Sadly, this brings me to the other issue with ReCore. There are some occasional issues with traversal that need to be fixed, but will never be addressed at this point. It's rare and not game-breaking, in that I've not experienced it in story-necessary areas, but there are a couple of places, where I Joule simply won't connect where she is supposed to. I'm traversing an area, I know she's supposed to jump from spot A and grapple to track B, but she simply can't reach. I'm certain it's the direction I'm supposed to go, because the environment guides you in its design, but there's an issue with the game that prevents Joule from completing the area. Its difficult to describe, but you'll know what I mean when you reach such a glitch in the game. Thankfully, I've only run into this once... maybe twice.
So, overall, especially if you enjoy platformers, you should give ReCore a try.
Armory Flux was the best dungeon
The retail release of "Recore" was fun, but very flawed. The Definitive Edition is actually a free update that makes the game live up to its original promise. While still not a great title, the upgraded version of "Recore" is a real pleasure. Honest game with honest lore with a good level designer!

Imagine for a moment that you sit down to a meal in a restaurant. Something like a hearty 3-course meal with all the trimmings... or so you're told... but after the first course being a taste of what you'd is to follow you're suddenly given a stale ham sandwich and a glass of lukewarm water . You don't stick around for dessert because you've already tried to chew through 2-week old bread only to find that it was also turning mouldy. - this meal is ReCore.
What starts as a fairly mediocre but passable action-adventure starts to show its true colours as you notice there is a reticle under your character showing you where you land as you jump. Maybe you figure this is just a nice feature but then you begin to encounter "traversal" dungeons with some light platforming. "Fine" you think " these are optional after all" but then you will find platforming is creeping into the main quest and you begin to spend HOURS just jumping from place to place like some half-baked Mario in an exosuit but with none of the tight controls needed for that to feel enjoyable. By the late game you will then be expected to do precision platforming against a timer or in the dark or over bottomless pits that reset your progress over and over until you get this particular sequence absolutely perfect.
Beyond this infuriating and completely unexpected genre twist to what started out as an action-adventure you have a clear indication that quality assurance and play testing were not a high priority during development. As you get further into the game you'll encounter serious issues like dungeons you cannot complete due to invulnerable bugged bosses, you falling through geometry only to get stick out of bounds or have the NPCs do the same when you need to clear an area to progress or you respawn behind a killzone that has now created an impassable barrier between you and your objective. For any of this to be occurring in a "remaster" I hate to think how bad the original version was.
Maybe you like Roblox-style obbys, maybe not, in either case if you want an action-adventure this will just disappoint and frustrate you and if you want to do platforming then play a game that was actually designed to make precision platforming rewarding rather than punishing, janky and tedious.
Not enough love for this game it just came out at the wrong time I bought it first on Xbox on release, played only a few hours then went on the backburner for years now knocking the dust off playing it on the deck it's soo.. Good and coming from Keiji Inafune whatever he touches to me is gold. Even the mediocre Mighty, I don't know what he was thinking with that!
