The award-winning Life is Strange series continues with an all-new story from DONTNOD Entertainment.
After a tragic incident, brothers Sean and Daniel Diaz run away from home. Fearing the police, and dealing with Daniel's newly manifested telekinetic power – the power to move objects with your mind – the boys decide to travel to their father's hometown of Puerto Lobos in Mexico for safety.
Suddenly, sixteen year-old Sean is responsible for Daniel’s safety, shelter, and teaching him right from wrong. As Daniel's power grows, it’s up to Sean to decide the rules by which they live. Keep the power secret, or use it to help them in their journey? Beg, borrow, or steal? Reach out to family, or stay hidden?
As Sean, your choices shape the fates of the Diaz brothers, and the lives of everyone they meet.
From Seattle, to Portland, to California... through gas stations, abandoned shacks, backstreets and forests... the road to Mexico is long and filled with danger – but also friendship, wonder, and opportunity.
This is the trip that could bond Sean and Daniel forever… or tear their brotherhood apart.
Key Features:
• Award Winning Story-Telling
• Daniel is always learning from Sean – and what you teach him has far-reaching consequences.
• Stunning visuals and hand-painted textures.
• Emotive original soundtrack from Jonathan Morali, composer of the original Life is Strange - plus licensed tracks from Phoenix, The Streets, Sufjan Stevens, Bloc Party, First Aid Kit, and more.

It’s a decent game, but I didn’t like it as much. Would give it a neutral rating, if there were one.
I found the story unrelatable, the characters, except the brother, were either unlikable or just too shallow, and the story flowed in a terrible way. As soon as things went to well, generic racist is unleashed upon the poor bros to give them same beating and that’s that.
Also, the choices of the game often weren’t satisfying. I tell Daniel to be a good kid, but then bad choices are forced upon me. How am I supposed to be a good role model if the game won’t let me? And why do I have money if I can’t even spend it?
All in all, its an okay game, and since there aren’t that many similar games, it’s certainly scratching an itch, but it also falls short in many aspects.
Currently in episode 2 and I really like it so far. Interesting story, interesting choices.
When the game didn't force me to make idiotic actions, it was amazing. The story and the music were great. The visuals -- not so much, facal animations-wise.
But when the game forced me to make dumb actions, which, thankfully, didn't happen too often, it was very frustrating.
Life is Strange, as a series, will always have a special place in my heart. I remember scoffing at the idea of playing a walking simulator back when the first game came out. That attitude did not change until some years ago when I finally decided to play the first game, a masterpiece in storytelling and player engagement, it floored me and left me in amazement and a whirlwind of emotions, even weeks after I finished the game. I still think about it, from time to time, as it taught me the most important thing in life, TIME! The one thing you cannot purchase or rewind, unless you are Max Caulfield, that is. You can see how much the series means to me, and so now coming back to the topic at hand, which is my review of the game 'Life Is Strange 2'.
I will keep it short and simple, which is an antithesis of the game. Life is Strange 2 tells the tale of two brothers (wolves) caught in an awful situation and making the best of what life throws at them. In a cruel world such as ours, the two brothers often find pockets of light, but only for a brief moment does the peace last, and the brothers have to continue running away from a crime they didn't commit. It is in these moments that the players must make their choices, with some thought put into it, as every decision has an impact, especially towards the ending of the game. Like Max Caulfield, the younger brother of the two Diaz brothers, Daniel has special powers. How he uses them, is all up to you. And this is where the magic is, to impact the story as you choose, which is what most players who love the series get off on, in my opinion, that is. The game talks about racism, discrimination and intolerance from an american perspective and honestly, it could fit anywhere on earth, as we are all the same everywhere, the good and the bad.
So yes, even though 'Life is Strange 2' falls short of it's predecessor by quite a distance, in my opinion, I still recommend this game as it has much to offer, to both new and old fans alike.
IMO the most incredible of the LIS series, I LOVE THIS GAME, it is an incredible narrative with extremely memorable characters and mixes well some very tragic and beautiful moments. 10/10
This is probably the weakest entry in the Life is Strange series. Certainly worth it if you enjoy the series, but just an okay entry. While you would never say that any of the games in this series are upbeat, this is by far the most depressing story in the series. The bad luck that the Diaz brothers go through is at the point where it becomes a little too unbelievable even in a world where some people have super powers. By the time that you get to episode 4 one of the characters even says that she can't believe all that the brothers have been through. It makes you wonder if the writers threw in this line as a bit of meta criticism of their own game. By the last episode you almost expect the brothers to meet a Bonnie and Clyde type ending or an asteroid to fall from space and hit them. There are also some very long scenes in this game where you have no input. A few times my controller turned off because I had not hit a button in so long. Despite this, the overall story about two brothers looking out for each other is good. The voice actors do an excellent job, especially the actors for Sean and Daniel. The dialog between the two characters often reminded me of my brother and I when we were younger. I would rate it a 6 out of 10. It would have been much lower but the solid voice acting gives it a few extra points. It probably would have been better if the story was from Daniels perspective where you could be the one with powers and if a few less bad things happened to the brothers to keep the story a little more grounded in reality. The characters both player and npc are the strong suit of all of the Life is Strange games, but outside of the brothers a lot of the characters were just not that interesting. Take your time playing this one and maybe play a chapter here and there between other games to give yourself the time to cheer up between chapters. Don't forget to also try the Adventures of Captain Spirit which is a one chapter prequel to LIS 2. I recommend it if you have enjoyed the other entries in the series, but if you are new to the series don't start with this game.
I love the whole life is strange series. This installment is kind of heart breaking. You go through a lot of trials in this game and everything you do or don't do seems to come back at you in some fashion, as per the norm for life is strange games. Its a little bit different than true colors and the original life is strange in one important aspect, but it's an absolutely incredible game.
One of the best story games I have ever played. I related to Sean so much. People with a little bro know what I mean.

Performance:
Usually life is strange games require less power but this one dropped some great fps during Ultra settings. In High settings you can play this on 60fps without any issue.
Overall rating is 7 out of 10
Life is Strange 2 is good adventure, with a story about growing up, moral challenges and society issues. The roadtrip character of the narrative offers a great variety of sceneries but also comes with a lot of problems like lackluster side characters.

I played this game long ago, and it has been awhile, but I realized that I never wrote a review, which I find strange because I really enjoyed this game. I absolutely loved the original 'Life is Strange' to pieces, and so was eager to play this one and see what it was like. I can safely say I was not disappointed. While having many similarities with the first game, it changes up the format enough that it can safely be its own thing. For example, the first game took place in one town, while each episode is in a different location that is far from the first. In the first game, your PC was the one with powers, while here it is your brother who has them.
One of the biggest differences is that while the first game explored gender and class, this game is a pretty in-depth look at race in America, and it can be difficult to play at times because of how it doesn't tiptoe around that issue. I say that as a positive. Give it a try, and I doubt that you will be disappointed.
lovely story overall, but a little frustrating with the illusion of free-will... a lot of choices you make don't matter, and you don't get a say in a lot of choices that *do* matter. glad i played it, and important story but frustrating when your choices don't seem to matter a lot of the time...
Where can I start. This game has been such a adventure and a roller-coaster. I've always been a fan of the life is strange series and recently got to playing this one and was not expecting it to be this emotional. Going on Sean and Daniel's journey was so amazing and tough and I did shed lot's of tears but that's what made me connect to the game knowing that these 2 brothers would do anything for each other. I REALLY hope we get to see these guys again some day in any aspect, before the Seattle shooting or what they're up too now. Loved this game so much and would recommend it to everyone.
Best Life is Strange game. It has suspense, great characters and story depth.
Not like any of the others in the series. Its really sub par and not even worth it on sale. The music score sucks and the two characters are so awful.
I know a lot of people dont like this game or find it a little slow but I really enjoyed it, its not as action packed as some might want and its not a murder mystery like the first game but it still was really impactful.
If you want a well written story about two brothers learning how to survive this is the game for you, it really allows you to work on the bond between the two and I couldn't help but tear up at the end during my first playthrough.
Absolutely delighted to play again!
The journey of two brothers & their difficulties with the world left me speechless.
This is a story where you decide how you can manage as a lone rider with the world out there. The choices & their consequences always make the path for what is coming next. This is what I love about LIS Series.
Loved it. Nothing to say. A great journey of loss, regret & bonding between two brothers. Like a Wolf Pack.
I'll admit I was a hater of this entry back when this came out because, like a lot of us, I was tired of the political climate at the time, and didn't want to think about it in a game yet alone live through it. So I put off on playing it until now, and I have to say, it's a beautiful game. I think the criticisms are fair but it's still a masterpiece of story telling.
With all its flaws, this game has great characters, a good story, and evokes real emotions. You truly feel like an older brother, and your choices across the episodes matter.
This is a really great game and I should have played it much sooner. I was a big fan of the first in series and prequel. I played the Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit when that was released and it was pretty good but it felt empty to me playing without Chloe and Max. I thought I would not like a game featuring other chars. I was incredibly wrong. I was attached to the new chars within the first 30 minutes of playing. Really great story telling. Another amazing sound track. Love the hard realistic choices that need to be made. Also really enjoyed the subtle tie ins to earlier games. Just an absolute perfect addition to the series. Great game to play if you want to make yourself cry. I'm so glad I ended up giving this a chance.
Very rarely does a game
A. Make me feel grateful for everything I have and everything it haven't been forced to experience.
B. Constantly make me consider how I treat my fellow man on day to day basis.
You owe it to yourself to give this game a chance.
I can say that this was the LIS game that drew me in more with its story than its characters. Can’t lie, at first I was like, "What's happening? This pace is too fast, I can't keep up." But eventually the game started to settle in for me.
| Peace and chaos follow each other throughout the game. |
In Life is Strange 1, we were engaged with both the characters and the story (and in Before the Storm, the relationships between Chloe and others…), but LIS 2 had a longer chase aspect, making the narrative better since we were dragged from one place to another.
However, almost every character had flaws, which is nice, but even warming up to Sean took some time. (he is cool af, love him.) Besides Sean, I liked Jacob and Cassidy the most. (I consider the people in Away separately, they’ve created a nice community.)
| Having more than three endings was cool, I wish it had even more. |
It was great to touch on topics like family issues, loss, racism, and religious trauma. There were moments when I really felt like I was experiencing these things myself. The issue of racism left a knot in my throat. // I didn’t want to sing the song, I didn’t want you to feel physical pain, Sean, but you endured so much mental suffering that I couldn’t add more. //
I don't understand Cassidy hate either. She was an honest person, and when you were a good friend, she was a good friend in return. When you were lovers, she was a good and loyal partner. She didn’t want either Daniel or us to get hurt. Receiving her letters throughout the game brought a smile to my face. Bro didn’t forget about us ^^ I hoped for a trio with Jacob and Cassidy in the future.
However, one of the biggest issues was Lyla. It saddened me that we could only call a loyal, trustworthy, and loving friend twice throughout the game. But that’s life. There’s a chance we could meet again later, or maybe not. It depends on our choices. There will be times when things get out of our control, and we drift apart from those we cared about. Yeah, that’s life. Maybe not being able to reach Lyla again was better for this bittersweet feeling. Every time I checked her on social media, I felt like crying. Despite everything, she tried to protect Sean...
It was wonderful to meet David. I knew I would see David and Karen due to spoilers, but it didn’t matter. Talking to Karen was nice. I could guess her mindset without seeing her. I hugged her. It didn’t make up for her mistakes, but spending time with her was pleasant.
I got the "Blood Brothers" ending. I was glad I didn’t get to the ending where Sean dies, but it still wasn’t the ending we deserved. (Stopping rebelling against life and fate and starting to rebel against a game company...) There was no reason for them to end up like gang members at the end of the game. NO REASON AT ALL. Because I tried to be a good brother and role model in my game. Living a boring life with the mafia in Mexico because I stole a sleeping bag from a racist person for Daniel? Everything happens for a reason, but what the heck? Is that really Sean? An artist who works with gangs? (That sounds like an indie band name, wtf?) We didn’t get to see Karen, Lyla, or Cassidy at that ending.
Endings could be more detailed !!
I didn’t choose to do that big theft. No matter how emotional I acted beforehand or how much I did what he wanted, Daniel never got better. I couldn't find any reason other than Sean's teenager big bro behaviors before the Seattle incident for Daniel's monstrous behavior. Even if nothing had happened, this kid needed a psychologist. Anyway, aside from a few thefts, I don’t think I went through an immoral gameplay process. But since Daniel was like a bomb with the pin pulled, my good intentions turned into bad outcomes and my brother ended up being foolish (at least we're both alive.)
In conclusion, I will remember this game fondly and beautifully. I will play it again in the future. (and I think I want to live a communal life for a while.)
AWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!
10/10 very emotional, definetely an upgrade from the 1st game
Very fun, cheesy dialogue but it worked for the setting. I love the character designs and the story.
For a long time, I was conflicted about whether I liked or disliked Life is Strange 2, as its formula differs significantly from the original. While the first game emphasized how your actions have consequences and how they affect those around you, Life is Strange 2 shifts the focus inward, exploring how our choices shape our morality and identity. The game's story is powerful, filled with emotional moments in every chapter, and it effectively showcases a wide range of personalities through its characters.
One downside, however, is the constant change of locations. Many side characters only appear briefly—often for just one chapter. This undermines the exploration aspect; while gathering information helps flesh out the world and adds depth to the characters, it doesn’t significantly impact the core story. It’s also hard to feel emotionally attached to the side characters since we quickly move on to a new location with a fresh cast.
In terms of pacing, the game starts off slowly. There’s also a money mechanic introduced early on that becomes irrelevant later in the game, which feels like a missed opportunity for more meaningful gameplay. It’s especially frustrating for players who focused on managing their money, only to discover it doesn’t matter that much in the end while earning negative points for it.
My main issue with the story lies in Sean and Daniel’s character development. Daniel starts off as a younger brother who you want to protect, but as the story progresses, he becomes increasingly unpredictable and bratty. By the end, you could even view Daniel as an antagonist, as he causes much of Sean’s pain and problems. Even if you play with high morality and brotherhood points, Daniel often acts in ways that contradict logic and his established character consistency, doing whatever he wants regardless of the choices you’ve made. Meanwhile, Sean, often overshadowed by Daniel’s personality, feels bland. He’s frequently moody and rude toward Daniel for no clear reason, and he makes some incredibly poor decisions—like the one that sets the entire story in motion.
Despite its flaws, I would still recommend the game, not just for its thought-provoking story, but also for its incredible music, beautiful art, especially from Sean’s drawings and the "Wolf Brothers Story," which recaps events, adding a nice visual touch to tie the episodes together. Plus, you don’t need prior knowledge of the previous games to enjoy this one.
Highly recommend this game. Some of the characters are insanely difficult to deal with due to their views, but honestly in a way it makes certain decisions a bit easier to make. Very different from the first one, but certainly not in a bad way.
MY BOYS!!
I played so much of this just to get the good ending without any gameplay tutorials
Very different from the first 2 games, I love the adventure aspect!
Love the series to death, but this is probably my least favorite of them so far. Still a great game and story, here's my beef: I just did not enjoy chapter 5. That chapter specifically felt very railroaded, some events/choices felt abnormal to ones made prior, and frustrating things happen in general that just wouldn't occur IRL. I guess there is a kid with super powers, so grain of salt.
Still recommend it. All the games are great, just play them in the correct order for those juicy lore easter eggs <3
love the life is strange sires and this is a great addition
Overall okay game, for me the worst game of the series. Couldn't really get invested in the relationship of the brothers, felt poor for Sean in the end. A lot of interactions and conversation felt forced and really time consuming, but okay game to play waiting for the new game.
7/10 - I am digging LiS game design a lot, atmospheric and immersive, interesting to explore surroundings. However i can't say that this story and characters connected with me emotionally strong enough.
This game is amazing its not quite what the first game was but i think that it helps it in a sense it feels close to the first game while also being not the same i think the dynamic between the two brother is a hit or a miss sometimes i wanted daniel to just fall off a clif while other times i wanted nothing more then save him i like how you dont have the power in this game makes it feel so diffrent and the subtle nods to the first game were amazing this game is overall either just as good as the first game or just a bit worse this is game is what story games should be
Not as good as the first one or even before the storm but still a really good choice game, the relationship between brothers could have been done better, I also find it stupid that Daniel is the only one with powers, it felt dull at times and Daniel was mainly annoying at times, Sean was ok but I would prefer to play as Cassidy or lyla they were both way cooler and I guess maybe finn but he felt like a watered downed version of chloe, I would say get it if you want to but I doubt this game will be referenced much, also I know a cop died at the beginning but running away was the most pathetic way to handle it, just say you did it cause the cop shot your father maybe you'll only get a year or 2 in prison maybe nothing then help Daniel with his powers and live a like normal life befriending Chris, maybe seeing Cassidy or stick with lyla point is they would be less death and destruction, I feel like this story could have had an earlier ending or better yet let me play as Daniel if I can play as Chris why not Daniel?
True Colors was my first game in the series. It was to remain the only one, although I thought the game was great overall. When the next installment was announced, I absolutely had to play all the titles.
I didn't notice any annoying problems with out-of-sync sound or subtitles not being displayed like in the remastered versions of the first part...or was it Before the Storm?
It's not a happy game where you can have “fun”, the story is sad: two kids fight with a neighbor kid, the father gets shot by a cop, the cop gets killed, and out of fear the two kids run away... And while you try to teach your little brother what is right and what is wrong, and that he can control his powers, you have to deal with law-abiding citizens, drug plantation operators... And again and again the same choice: do I take the difficult path or do I ask my little brother to use his strength... It's exhausting to do the right thing, and as stressful as it is for the player, the sad soundtrack is just as stressful, which isn't a bad thing. It's brilliant! I've never felt so connected to the characters in any of the Life is Strange titles, I've never been so immersed in the story.
When you see at the end of a chapter what other possibilities there were to solve a situation, you feel like playing through the game again, making different decisions and seeing what changes. I didn't have this desire with Before the Storm or Life is Strange 1. I cried tears and felt for the characters. Even if it's only 15 to 20 hours of gameplay: This Life is Strange title is worth every single penny.
This puts Life is Strange 2 on the same level as the first two The Walking Dead titles, which I played through countless times to see what would change and to meet all the characters again. There are countless moments that stay with you. When you meet David Madison, it's just as emotional as when Clementine meets Kenny again. And then you wish you could play through the first part again, prevent Chloe's death, to see how David fared afterwards, how something has changed.
the worst life is strange of the entire franchise with horribly written dialogue, unlikable protagonists, and completely forgot what the main focus of the franchise was supposed to be about
VBEST FUCKING HAME EVER I WOULD 100 F(CKING DOLARS FOR IT OMFG z<433<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3< xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo LOVE U SQUARE ENIX FOR KILLING THAT SON OF A BITCHJ
very good quality game, such a deep story line with real character depth and compassion
This games endings made me cry, Both good ending are very sad in there own ways all while the bad endings also feeling like a loss, Overall my favorite game of the 4, I would say true colors if its pacing was better.
This game has many flaws, and no, it's not as good as the first one. But it's still great overall, and definitely worth a playthrough.
The biggest problem with this game is that they tried to do too many things and moved you around too much. Every time you get attached to the supporting cast, it changes entirely in the next episode. The first 2 episodes are so boring it's almost unbearable. If this game didn't release episodes months apart I think it would've been much better received because I think a lot of people quit before it got good. Episode 3 finally lets you stick around with an interesting cast... only to keep you moving to place after place in the next 2 episodes. Although they are at least interesting episodes.
Now with that being said, I will tell you why this game is still great. Your choices actually matter. At least more than usual in Life Is Strange. Even the small choices. Without spoiling too much, there is basically a hidden karma system. Every choice you make adds or deducts points from it. Many parts of the story change based on it, and it makes for a wider variety of solid endings.
The rewind mechanic from Life Is Strange 1 added a layer of depth to the game that I don't think can ever be recreated or outdone in this franchise. Not to mention you stayed in one town and got 5 episodes to know the same characters. But Life Is Strange 2 is a different game with the same name. If you stop comparing it to Life Is Strange 1 and take it for what it is, it's a fun ride.
Underrated Life is Strange game. Out of all of them so far, it's the one that pulled my heart strings the most and just HURTS.
The way the decisions work and endings are achieved is really interesting and clever, big strong point for me.
Even small decisions and little things actually affect you, unlike the other LiS games, which is something I find important in games where "decisions matter".
It won't ruin your gameplay if you skip one little thing, don't worry, it's not like that, but it makes you actually care and want to explore the things around you and see what happens or how the characters interact with it.
It's still one of my top favorites stories, I def recommend if you love tragedy and being miserable (AND BOY DO I)
This is the only game ive played that actually changed my way of thinking. This game goes over some pretty rough topics which surely isnt for everyone.. racism, loss of a loved one, loss of a pet. The story writing for this is actually insane. I did not want to put this game down and was actually so scared of bad things happening to Sean, and the endings are great- every one could be considered good i think based on perspective. This game has had me thinking about it days after beating it and im sure ill be thinking of it long after. I cannot praise this game enough.
Lis 2 doesnt have such impact ending as Lis 1. Still it offers bits and fragments of somewhat a relatable story. Sometimes things can feel overlonged and detached. But the characters are still so well written that maybe you wish they had their own spin offs.
What Lis 2 does better than Lis 1 I think is that the choices are actually impactful. The story can branch out in many directions that still feel believable.
Overall the only downside i think it is unecessary prolonged. Otherwise an experience that both fan and non-fan of Lis can have.
there's nothing much you can do other than ask questions, answer questions, and order your little brother to do things. I prefer the first one where you can actually control your own power, not relying on someone else's.
Phenomenal, personally, its even better than the first game. The relationship between the brothers and the entire plot is gut-wrenching. I can understand if people find it too depressing though.
At times, the cut scenes went on too long, but overall it was a great game.
After playing the first series, it was a no-brainer to dive into Life is Strange 2. I love the direction the developers took with this installment, and as always, I'm a huge fan of their games—this one definitely did not disappoint!
The storytelling is captivating, with so much happening throughout the game. And can we take a moment to appreciate the locations? The scenery is absolutely stunning! Having lived in Oregon for a while, I felt a strong connection to the landscapes, which have that unmistakable Oregon vibe that makes the experience even more immersive.
Overall, Life is Strange 2 beautifully expands on the series while maintaining the emotional depth and engaging narrative we’ve come to love. If you’re a fan of the franchise, this is a must-play!
LIS 2 has all of the emotions and rich story of LIS, but also reflects a very different yet very significant (and unfortunate) side of life in the US as a minority
i think overall this is my favorite life is strange game. the dynamic between both sean and daniel as they come together after such a hard time was beautiful to see. i laughed, i cried, and truly i was shocked with how things turned out overall. this is for sure one of my favorite games!!
