Play as Wells, a steampunk hero ready to find an amazing variety of weapons, each unique in design and functionality, and get ready to face a plethora of enemies and challenges. Even though the ammo is unlimited, keep in mind that your gun can overheat and you'll have to wait for the cooldown to get back to action!

This is a typical unity game: cheap and charming at first, but sluggish and with not rebindable controls. I can't recommend it.
Wells feels like maybe someone's first or second commercial game. It aims to run at 60 FPS but drops frames pretty regularly (maybe 58 FPS if you average it out, it can be adjusted to) the voice acting was clearly all done by one person just to have it in the game, and the last cutscene mentions an artifact that we never see before then. All told though? The weapons all have different uses for both combat and progression (and it's not just pistol/shotgun/rifle either, there are some surprises in there,) the art direction is really nice from start to finish, and some of the boss fights are really quite memorable.
It may look unassuming, but Wells is 100% worth the four dollars it asks of you.
This is a great side scrolling cyberpunk platformer. Plenty of weapons and full controller support. It also has a high level of replayability.
Very generic side scroller. Almost got to the end but the controls became too unresponsive and frustrating that I quit and uninstalled it. The graphics and color palette aren't great. The sounds are terrible and music is annoying.
A nice classical side scroller. Well done, not a cash grab. I have played through the first level and the first part of the second. I don't feel it is fair to leave anymore of a comment than I have, but the game responds well, it plays cleanly and there is obvious care and thought put into the design. I would really change the voice-over and clean up the intro graphics, it would go a long way to making it look more professional and match the game itself. First impressions make a difference. The intro looked and sounded lazy. The rest of the game does not feel lazy. I feel badly saying this because I also think some thought and care were put into those. I will be playing this again in the future.
A very good run & gun game, highly recommended if you like platformers with shooting, especially at this price point.
Using a controller (I tested it with an XONE) does not work well, unfortunately, but mouse and keyboard controls are perfect.
I did not encounter any other bugs or crashes.
The problems with long reloads mentioned in other reviews have been fixed and gameplay is very smooth.
Definitely a hidden Indie gem, if you are okay with using mouse and keyboard.
Wells is a steampunk side scroller with decent enough graphics with okay music and kind of pathetic pew pew sounds. Where this game fails is where so many indie titles fail; controls. All platformers (all games really) need good, tight, and responsive controls. Why don't developers understand that? Fix the darn controls! I don't know how many times I died because the controls weren't responsive. Jankity controls are not challenging, they are freakin' annoying! Do not buy at any price.
I was not a fan of Wells. It started off decent as a side scrolling shooter but the gameplay was average, and the dull graphics got to me eventually. Pay $1 if you like side scrolling shooters; just come in with low expectations.
Honestly just not that interesting. Also, the settings seem to lie; it claims to be in my widescreen monitor resolution, but the picture has black bars on the side; it also says it supports controllers, but it ignores my Xbox controller.
This game is amazing, it cost 35P (on sale) so i bought it and it was full controller support and has steam trading cads and achievments i was expecting it to be a 4/10, but after playing it, it was amazing! i played for quiet long i and enjoyed this game alot, i m rating this 8.5/10
What you could improve on is the voice, the hum hum sound he makes when he jumpes is abit weird but its funny!
Despite being somewhat appealing due to its 2.5d steampunk appearance, Wells is seemingly hollow as what is does offer has been done so much better in a number of other circumstances. Calling this game a "run and gun" in the detailed description is extremely misleading. While I remember guns overheating in games like Metal Slug, I never remember them causing an extreme pause to the gameplay experience like it does in Wells. Retreating to cool down and restore your health in Wells takes away from the "run and gun" and makes the experience more like "retreat and fire aimlessly". On the subject of aiming, the "full controller support" is a complete sham as the triggers as well as the analog support for the game constantly fails using an Xbox360 controller with similar unanswered complaints on the forums. While I am glad the game has extended platform support, the Linux version is garbage with graphics glitches throughout. I had no idea what the first boss looked like until I saw a screenshot.
WOW this game is fun, and i only paid 50 cents ! not too shabby !!! =)
A fun little game thats definitely worth 39p. However one issue i found was that the reload times and firing rates do not match the pace of the rest of the game and so can cause a lot of frustration in certain parts, so just bear that in mind if your paying full price. Also there is a slight delay in pressing the spacebar and Wells actually jumping. Otherwise a great little game.
Wells is a very charming run and gun game, with many different weapons and challenges. Even though it may be visually simple, it makes up for its unique mechanic and gameplay.
One thing I would love to see on Wells is a challenge mode, like a time trial and/or a puzzle mode. Maybe later on also allow users to create their own levels and share it through steam?
This game is a hidden gem and for its current price it deserves to be bought and appreciated.
This game was a nice surprise. Great controls and storyline. A good addition to my lib.
A nice little sidescroller with pleasing music and visuals. A very good deal on sale.
Um jogo maravilhoso com várias mecânicas divertidas e diferentes, o melhor do gênero que eu joguei ultimamente! Vale cada centavo!
"A wonderful game with lots of fun and different mechanics, the best of the kind I've played lately! Worth every penny!"
The game is very well produced, with interesting and intelligent challenges. The graphics are really cool as well as the fantastic soundtrack. I recommend it to everyone.
Well I was hoping for an old school Contra or Bionic Comando type of game. Game perhaps has potentail, but controls are bound. Gun is on the r1r2 functions and not AB YX. Strange. Ok gae for $5 dollar but not $10
A very fun old school game with intresting shotting mechanics and boss fights
