About the Game
In How to Shoot a Criminal, you investigate a famous newspaper in the 1930's era. You must find definite proof of wrongdoing with the help of the game's search engine in order to sink the newspaper down.
Aaron Williams is an ambitious editor in chief in charge of the Revenge, a newspaper bent on revealing the truth at all costs. This noble mission becomes harder and harder to accomplish as politics, economics and inner dissension within the newspaper staff gets in the way. It will test the mettle of the editing team of the Revenge, and ultimately will reveal the true nature of some of its members.
The Revenge's motives have been corrupted by Aaron's ambition, a criminal by association.
Your part in the story
It will take you, interpreting Scarlett, a talented and passionate journalist who is part of the inner circle, to explore the various articles of the Revenge to find a way to bring down its tyrannical editor in chief.
Plunge into an era and a scandalous story that will make the headlines, as you uncover the dark secrets of the Revenge. Search for key words, and the truth behind the different affairs covered by the newspaper.
Find a way to succeed in bringing the whole paper down.

as much as i love the concept, i can't give this a recommendation. the sub fly by so fast that i don't get time to read them properly, and being dyslectic doesn't help. the french is also a little distracting on top of that, so without an english dub, something i highly doubt the devs will ever care to add, this is a game i regret buying.

Bonne immersion grâce aux recherches historiques et l'utilisation du noir et blanc.
Seul petit reproche, on se retrouve parfois à essayer des mots clefs completement random pour faire avancer l'histoire..
Mais très bonne impression finale.
Vivement le prochain jeu.
Surprisingly easy to play.
The gameplay is a mix between cluedo and your everyday google search.
If you are not in the mood for action game and you don't mind the translated error here and there I think it's a good game.
For my part i actually do understand French and i found that the actors (if a little stiff) did a good job at relaying a theatral feelling.
The gameplay is really diffecrent from your average game it's refreshing.
Lack of proper translation has abosolutely killed this game for me. Which is something I have NEVER had an issue with, however it DIRECTLY impacts gameplay in an extremely negative way. This game simply needed a little tightening up in the editing department and it could have been a decent game.
That being said, they apparently opted to do without an editor...IN A GAME ABOUT AN EDITOR!!!!!!
I strongly urge the Dev team to please fix this mess, as there is likely a good game hiding underneath. It has taken the aewsome mechanics from Her Story and made them impossible to enjoy due to piss poor editing and not only that, they made it cost more than the better game as well. Sorry, this is a NO BUY until it is given the proper care in editing it deserves.
Original game with a classy black & white esthetic, live actors and an intringuing investigation.
I wasn't sure what to expect when i got the game. It looked interesting and I put it on my wishlist, thinking that it was a small price for a nice looking game. I loved it! Very nice surprise, the game is really different than what I expected. On one hand, some of the searches are a bit frustrating, but there is a real flow in the story. Every time I unlocked a video or a record, I wanted to shout !
The game is really pretty good. It's clearly an indie game and it lacks a bit of the higher end material, but again for its price its just right.

I really enjoyed How to shoot a criminal, I thought it was really original immersive; i'm a huge of games like this.
The whole aesthetic was pretty interesting, quite elegant, really fitting the theme. I liked the small details, sounds like the developpers really thought about it.
The inspiration from Her Story is obvious, but I liked how they went further: there aren't just videos, there are small scene, sometimes really emotional- really enjoyed those with Winsmay. The characters are more relatable this way.
It can be quite hard sometimes, but I think it's a quality: you really have to think sometimes, there is a real mystery.
Basically, I recommand it ! It's not expensive, it's worth a try, and you may fall in love with one of the characters !
