Click Space Miner isn't really a proper game, it's just a lazy 2D browser/Flash-tier "number incrementer" game where the object of the game is to increase the in-game currency by clicking, and sometimes buying things that increase the rate at which your currency/score goes up. It's an incredibly shallow game loop, to the point you might as well just run a program that does "i=i+1; print i" and watch the numbers go up automatically, and just watch it. You'd get the exact same outcome. If this sounds completely mindless, you're not wrong.
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.
The game features somewhat lazy, simplistic "retro" looking 2D graphics, and it's hard to say if this is due to the age of the assets used, if it's a deliberate attempt for the game to look bad/retro on purpose, or if the assets are just, well, terrible looking. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game in 2024, such poor quality 2D graphics in the 3D era just aren't good enough, whether it's a deliberate design fault on behalf of the developer or they just couldn't manage to do any better, this is a compromise gamers shouldn't have to put up with. There is an animated asteroid that spins around, that looks nice, but as far as I can tell this is really just a 2D video. I can't stress enough how valueless this game is.
The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just point and click stuff like a browser/Flash game. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here.
Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the GameMaker Studio construction kit/toolset. This is a very poor quality toolset favoured by amateur developers as it's cheap and requires little in the way of development skill, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. GameMaker Studio is most commonly used to make retro pixel shovelware and cash grabs.
A strong argument can be made that construction kits like GameMaker Studio should never be used to make games for profit, as the "developer", SimplexGameStudio has done here. These construction kits are intended to teach people some of the basic principles of game development, and to make small demos to pass around with friends. They're not intended to replace to actual work of real, professional game developers. So it's inappropriate when amateurs try to use these for profit, without any actual, real game development effort taking place. This doesn't result in products that have any real meaningful value for gamers.
The very poor quality of this game puts it squarely on-par with ancient 1990's Flash/Java games, and given it's 2024 (and this was released not so far back in 2016), gamers and the industry expect and deserve better than this kind of low effort shovelware.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.
So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam?
Click Space Miner is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 11,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
I'm so glad i this somehow wasn't a crypto miner
The earth is 4.6 billion years old and we managed to exist at the same time as this masterpiece.
Good clicker but an error is created when i buy the mine

i just copied it at front please PLEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASE clear this eror
I think I would've had more fun burning my money and going to jail, then playing this excuse for a game.
I got into this game and I was doing pretty good until it randomly kicked me out to the menu and so I pressed the start button again and I lost lost my progress. Do not get this game!
Im not sure what the goal is in this game. Im not sure what the point is in this game. It has potential if they would add more to it. I Never could figure out how to switch asteroids or if it is even an option. I got the DROHNE level past 35000 and also got the MINE level past 35,000. The Drill capped at level 6 and weirdly slowed down the mining process instead of speeding it up. The money was in the 9 digits 236459783. The game was actually making money faster than I could level up the MINE and DROHNE devices. It was kinda crazy. I patiently waited for something new to unlock, change, spawn, anything, but nothing happened. Maybe I played the game incorrectly or something. I think it could be a fun game if they gave it purpose and rewards, perhaps adding Different asteroids to mine or More drills, different Backgrounds, oh and the sound loop is like chinese water torture almost 2 hours in play. lol. It did not cost much at all. Maybe they will add more to the actual game play. I got my 50 cents worth. :)
The game doesn't save and just crashes at some point. After that happens, you have to start all over again. This game isn't even worth playing if you have an auto clicker. I would ask steam for a refund, but I only paid $0.49 for the game. If you want a cheap game to inflate your library number, this is the game for you.
I didn't get the point of the game. Do I win? Do I lose?
I made tons of money. Went afk, made even more money. Come back, still making money.
Nothing to do. Deleted. :)
only plays for 10 minute resets all progress after that only two idle upgrades and one click upgrade no options no way to turn the music off....very poor game to be charging for very dissapointed
As a fan of clicker/idle games i have to write my first ever review on steam: this game is just not worth anyones time: no save games, so any progress you make you lose after exiting the game, you have to constantly refill your fuel that powers your autoclickers (this costs $2000 game money) and slowly depletes which slows your progress waaaay down, and there is very little progress to be made, only 3 gun upgrades, and one autoclicker price change, makes for about an hour of play, and not very fun or engaging play at that, overall very dissapointing and not worth the expansion pack (the only change you get is more buggs and different colored meteors to mine, thats it nothing else changes).
This isn't JUST a clicker game, this is a war of attrition.
The terrible graphics, the lack of upgrades, the singular, floating rock coninuously turning to put you into a hypnotic trance and the single looping track make this the single hardest game I have ever played.
But I continued on! I went and I conquered with a final goal of 1337 mines, 1337 drones and 133700 seconds on the clock (because you can buy extra time, although when the time runs out you go into the minuses...).
I will now consider sending this game to people I dislike with a passion.
(oh, and if you do decide to play this for some insane reason, keep in mind that your progress can not be saved and if you hit esc then you lose everything and have to start over).
