great game!
Unusual, but fun. Very creative. Looking forward to playing the entire series. If you like puzzle games, this one is surprisingly addictive.
Casual visual search puzzles, generally well-built, and a decent chunk of gameplay. Great for the right audience, but I would offer 2 notes:
[1] It's not at all like a jigsaw puzzle, despite appearances.
When solving a physical jigsaw puzzle you have (a) the "goal" image of the completed puzzle in front of you, and (b) every un-placed piece laid out on the table, face up, and (c) (for most folks/cases) a very limited number of puzzle-piece shapes that you need to fit together. Glass Masquerade is roughly the inverse. Contra (a), you don't know what the final image is supposed to be. Contra (b), all un-placed pieces are face-down (and in a random orientation) except the 1 you click on to select and flip over and try placing. Contra (c), nearly every puzzle piece is a different shape.
Now, one of my core strategies for solving jigsaw puzzles is roughly this: see a gap for an unplaced piece, look to the goal image to see what the missing piece should look like, scan the unplaced pieces on the table looking for a match by the colors/image-fragments onit, mentally rotating as needed. And none of that is even an option in Glass Masquerade. So, if you solve jigsaw puzzled like I do, note that this ain't that.
[2] Unplaced pieces sometimes appear mis-scaled before you place them.
I played on Steam Deck handheld, so this may have been exacerbated by my smallish screen. But any un-placed piece appears to have a gold outline around its outer edges. Very often, many segments of the outline disappear after the piece is placed. And yet, some remain, because they represent the metal fillings between the panes of stained glass in the puzzle you're building. This means that pieces very often "look slightly too big" to fit into their correct place.
This means that trying to match a piece to its correct position is never really a visual search that will generate a 100% match. So you need to look for "fuzzy" matches.
These 2 caveats are enough that I personally left the game wishing I had just done a jigsaw puzzle instead. It was fine, but I doubt I will play any more in the series.
Very relaxing game when you just want to chill and not think.
I really enjoyed this puzzle game and I’ll definitely keep playing to fet all the achievements. As for comparing it to the second, this one definitely has less levels and can be completely a bit faster. The puzzles also feel easier on this one because the images are much easier to make out. The second involves a lot of lines that kinda blend into each other so it can be very difficult at times to make out what the image is. That may just be a me issue though. I’m excited to play the third. The images are a little cuter to me and much more to my taste.
If you love stained glass and jigsaw puzzles, this one is a must buy. The music is fabulous too.
If you're gonna get this game. Get pat 2, and 3 as well. These games are very fun. Its just jigsaw puzzles but better.
Absolute stunner of a game! Probably the most gorgeous puzzles I've ever worked on. I love the stained glass theme and had such a blast that I ended up getting all the DLCs too. The music is perfect. It puts you in a calm and focused mood right away. And while some of the puzzles are more difficult and take a bit longer to complete, not one has made want to me rage quit. The right balance between engaging and challenging has been struck here. Perfect if you want to forget about your daily life for a while and transport yourself somewhere else.
A mostly fun and relaxing game. The artwork is beautiful and the music is pleasant. Some pieces kinda mostly fit if you look at outlines, but they snap in even if there is a little overlap with surrounding pieces. So you have to place some pieces on faith rather than precision. This is not due to the "lead" around the "glass" overlapping, but just some pieces not quite being shaped right. The running clock hands in the middle are cute at first but annoying when working on the areas they overlap with. The estimates of difficulty, well, I blew through some "level 5" difficulty puzzles in a few minutes and got stuck on some "3"s. You can't finish the game's map without buying DLC, which really doesn't work for me personally. I would be happy to buy DLC, but their selling technique is a turn-off. Overall, mostly recommended, unless you have OCD, in which case the slight slop in this game might drive you nuts.
such a fun beautiful puzzle game
Amazing puzzle game with relaxing music!
Good puzzling game, different difficulties but generally satisfying to play.
Incredible chill game, perfect for every occasion. If you're looking to spend some quality time with puzzles, this is the perfect game.
One of the first few jigsaw games I've played on Steam and I had a very nice time.
Each puzzle is an image of something iconic from the real life geographic region on the in-game map and it truly feels like an international tour of imagery. The stained glass motif is very well done and adds to the challenge of the puzzles - each one took me anywhere from 2 minutes to upwards to 15 for some of the more difficult ones.
Bonus: my spouse got interested in it every time they walked by my screen and even sat down to play one for a few minutes. This literally never happens.
The BG music was a little melancholy for me, for some reason, and put me in a bit of a somber mood while playing. I'm sure not everyone will have the same impression.
You can 100% complete without buying DLC but I do believe you will need to add the FREE DLC.
Lastly, I was AFK for a good hour-ish so playtime is not completely accurate.
5/5 - I'm looking forward to playing the next installments of Glass Masquerade and definitely getting more interested in jigsaw puzzles for relaxation and keeping brain matter intact.
Really neat bub. Different take on puzzles. Very fun.
Relaxing and entertaining game
beautiful mosaic artworks, relaxing music and simple puzzle gameplay; perfect to wind down before going to bed, though i did have trouble putting it down. can only recommend!
Beautiful puzzles and iconic references of all countries, I really enjoyed this game. n_n
Serene puzzle game based around Stained glass pieces. Excellent.
Beautiful hand-painted art, soothing music, and satisfying sound design make this game an easy recommend if you're looking for a jigsaw puzzler.
I love puzzle games for relaxing, but specifically I really enjoy Mosaic puzzles like this one. Previously, I was playing Alice's Patchwork which is good as well (I still need to finish it), but I grabbed this while it was on sale. The music is incredibly relaxing and the puzzles are beautiful. They are actually a little challenging, but you're not racing a timer! Go at your own pace. Visit and piece together stained glass artwork from several different countries. I love it! When I finish it, I'll probably purchase the DLCs also. Buy it if you're like me, but also if you're like me, just don't fall asleep.
P.S. to the Devs... I was excited to "visit" Turkiye, but I was also sad at the same time because upon completion, there was no Turkish Flag achievement :( Can we get that... Please... I would love to display it on my profile!
shiny puzzles !!!
beautiful
Jigsaw puzzles are either a hit or miss for me, but Glass Masquerade is definitely a big hit. It's a different take on the usual jigsaw puzzle format. Assembling stained glass pieces is very relaxing, and the reveal of the final image at the end does not disappoint. I even often find myself completing multiple levels in one sitting without even realizing it. Difficulty-wise, some are easy and some take time to assemble, especially the DLC demos. Definitely worth the price. Highly recommended.
An exceptionally beautiful jigsaw puzzle game series.
Thank you Lamey for letting me know about it!
Beautifully crafted and very chill game, can't recommend it enough!
A fun relaxing game. Now for number 2.
Difficulty is a little frustrating with the overlapping of pieces but otherwise a beautiful game and thoroughly enjoy it.
If you've been thinking about buying it, go and buy it now.
Relaxing puzzle game with great art and atmospheric music, a steal on sale but worth the normal price too.
One of those 'I didn't know this was a thing' games you stumble upon by accident, and instantly fall in love with. At its heart it is a jigsaw-like game where you fit the puzzles together. There's no image to work from, you have to figure it out as you go.
But.
Number one, the art deco styling is simply gorgeous.
Number two, the music is soothing with a slightly spooky edge to it.
Number three, the puzzles aren't *that* hard, with each one being in the 10 to 15 minutes range.
In short, it is a chill little puzzle game, something to kill a few minutes with rather than trying to blitz through them all. It really is the journey rather than the destination.
Personally I fell in love, bought all three and all the DLCs, and am having a lovely time slowly completing each of the puzzles.
Love them.
This is a fun and very pretty puzzle game. I'm not worried about how long it takes me to do each puzzle even though there is a timer for each one.
Simple game play, relaxing action, and beautiful art to help all my serotonin needs.
Beautiful jigsaw puzzle game. Relaxing and fun! So pretty and engaging
yes glass masquerade totally worth it people.
very engaging visually and mentally
Beautiful pics, nice soothing music. Very relaxing.
This game is wonderful for just relaxing with. The art and music are amazing, and the puzzles can be challenging enough to keep you interested without just breezing through.
What a gorgeous game! Glass Masquerade takes the classic jigsaw puzzle concept and elevates it with intricate, stained-glass artwork. Each puzzle feels like you’re assembling a piece of art, and the calm, ambient music adds to the relaxing vibe. It’s challenging without being stressful, and the designs are so satisfying to complete. If you enjoy puzzles and beautiful visuals, this game is a must-try!
Fun time wasting puzzle game. Only for those who enjoy traditional jigsaws.
I like jigsaw puzzles in real life but maybe not for video games. Not saying this is not a great game because it has a very pretty and well designed graphics with a gameplay that should be interesting for me. But maybe because I am not really holding the pieces with my hand, which might be the tipping of the scale for me in this situation. Still recommend people who like jigsaw puzzles to give it a try and see for themselves if this is the game for them. Maybe you would enjoy this game quite a lot unlike me.
very fun
Regardless of whether you choose to play this game casually, or in a race against time, there is no denying that it had a lot of love and care put into it, and it oozes passion out of every pore. I didn't even mind that my own country was part of DLC, because for one, it's not really that expensive, it's worth it's money, and I am more than glad to give the team behind this title the money they deserve.
If you like making puzzles you'll love this game, great art style and great music too!
While art is very beautiful, few points didn't cut it:
Pieces are, as seen in trailer, arranged at the sides. They are black until picked up, and they automatically rotate as they are meant puzzle. I'd prefer to rotate pieces.
Pieces are slightly bigger than the spot they are landed. Even their shape isn't helping you to find their place, which is pretty much the opposite of jigsaw puzzle.
Music, while beatiful, loops pretty often, making it just a buzz while you trial and error too big pieces into beautiful clocks.
Rotating layed-out puzzles rotates other side as well. However, pieces are NOT rotated a full circle. They go up and down only in their own segment.
Had good potential, but sadly fell short.
beautiful game, satisfying to play and just a wonderful idea. please accept one small criticism, understanding first that i very much enjoyed the game: some of the portraits do very little to express the culture they represent, as with the "ocean" puzzle for australia. thank you for your game.
Great Game! Sets the bar for Puzzle games.
