A genuine masterpiece that i recommend to anyone who loves story driven games. I was very fortunate to go into it completely blind. Even right after finishing it I already wish I could play it for the first time again
A game that *wants* me to play it in windowed mode? I wonder why that is ...
it's hard to go into more detail because that would spoil the experience. Just like Outer Wilds or Undertale, OneShot is best experienced without knowing anything beforehand.
There's also a new edition ("world machine") available which I haven't played, but from what I've gathered there'd be pros (polishing, extra content, not having the game window be SUPER TINY) and cons (for, uh ... spoilery reasons) to it.
As to the actual game, I did enjoy the story, characters and artwork a lot! Music I'd say is not bad but not mindblowingly good. The sound effects are very well done though, I particularly liked how footsteps change depending on territory. I sometimes wished for a map as I have the tendency to get lost, and the item fetch quests can sometimes be a tiny bit tedious - there is fast travel, but it doesn't work indoors (which is not story related as far as I can tell, just annoying and also affects some outdoor areas) and lacking a map doesn't always help as much as it could. That's minor gripes though, game's great, play it
brilliant game and I loved it, almost quit before doing the solstice run thinking there'd be nothing more to it but I am very glad I continued with the game, kinda mad at myself for quitting without sleeping in the beds very early in my first run so I missed out on the oneshot achievement, but tbf i didn't know that then.
takes a bit of a while to pick up pace though i feel, so you have to get accustomed to the doom n gloom feel of the game in the start and then once you get through that bit it's smooth sailing ahead
I don't usually do reviews. I don't usually write down my feelings into this box below the game. This game is wonderfully crafted, an amazing use of meta puzzles and the environments that you traverse are beautiful with music that is wonderfully companies them. I had the entire plot summarised in an hour long video and was recommended to still go buy it and it still invoked such a powerful response from me emotionally. 10/10, the less you know the better the experience is. Play it blind for the full, intended experience. 10/10 would recommend

This game is impossible to explain with out playing it.
It makes the player rethink everything they new and dip into hope and imagination, stories and memories
if you dont stop trying you will never find the end even if you think it's over...
i have only just finished the game after waiting 3y to forget a video i watched on it. i dont regret it.
I really wish there were more games like this, but if there were, they would not be so special.
Who knows maybe one day when we fully figure out AI, some one will make a game like this and let the IA do all with little restriction just basic guidelines who knows what could happen?
I very much enjoyed playing this game. It was pleasant, I was invested in getting Niko home, and am happy to have completed the true ending.

I played this game a while back now, but I can never get it out of my head. It's atmospheric, well written, and has one of the most satisfying ends to a game I've ever seen. This game was, and will continue to be one of my favorite stories told through a game. I wish I could forget it, and play it again for the first time. This game warmed my heart, and now I need to go find a hazelnut pancake recipe.
Every character is well written the choice at the end made me think about morals of life. The game should only be played once and with a blind playthrough.

While I was at first skeptical about the game, as I progressed more I really enjoyed not only the puzzle solving aspects, but also the surprisingly in-depth lore. I think within my 10 hours of gameplay I've gone from forcing myself to play to wanting to play even more! I really enjoyed the game, great work on the dev's part. 10/10.
This game has successfully made me sad and cried more than anything in my life in a long time. It made me care for someone who is just on the screen, cried at the first and solstice ending, and happy and sad that i was able to send NIko back home but can never see Niko again. I love this game and a 10/10 which can make you experience sadness

Normally i Don't really get that into a story game but Oneshots story is one I cannot recommend enough It even caused me to make my very first review. But Get this game the story and characters are endearing but go in blind if you didn't it definetly is still fun but going in blind is the best way to enjoy it.
The twists the game throws at you really threw me off guard on my first playthrough of the game. Genuinely well executed storytelling that really keeps you wanting to continue for a very long time. Also, I will die for cat baby.

OneShot is an emotionally charged RPG maker game that will melt you heart with its story and characters. 10/10 will carry the sun around again. Just make sure to go in blind so you can experience the true beauty of this game.

Rarely does a game make you ask questions about existence of characters and what a game is to you ,the kind of 4th wall break this Game does I only experienced in Undertale but this Game takes that formula and reformulate it to slap it into your face , music -20/10 , Atmosphere and Art -8/10 , World building -7/10 , Character s- 8/10 , Niko (MC)-100/10 goona remember Niko till last breath , Masterpiece is not justified for this game , this is not a game this is a experience that you can only experience once hence oneshot , Thankyou devs for making this
Lately, I have been tormented for a long time by the unrealistic nature of games, which is why I couldn’t play them. And to be honest, this game opened up a lot of room for thought. A short story with a huge Value.
Fun little game. It's surprising how quickly it can make you care (at least in my opinion). Recommended for those who like a relatively relaxing puzzle-based experience; just be ready to think outside the fourth-wall box a bit.
OneShot is not a long game, but the experience will stick with you for a long time.

This game has been on my list for a while and i got yet to experience it and...oh my god, where do i even start?
Story sucks you within without realizing. Sometimes; you find yourself staring at the screen, admiring the environment and the sounds of the game. Each individual character has their own personality and uniqueness to it.
And Niko.
Oh my god i love Niko i can literally dedicate my life protecting him. I love him so much.
He's just a small boy whom was forced into saving a world he's not even from. Whatever he feels towards the end isn't important in the well... You will see. And see it again as you please if you decide to "return" (:
I can't recommend this game enough. It's worth everything.
Colorful cast (of little depth, but I loved them nonetheless), nice music, nice art, good pace (the usual "find the right thing and use it at the right place" puzzles but placed conveniently & not too hard to figure out so you don't waste forever walking in circle, there's also fast travel), fine story.
There are some interesting interactions and gameplay element, whether it's going to be a hit or a miss for you is in the air.
sadly contains bugs, but other than that rlly good!! worth my money. amazing gameplay
My dad got me this game a few months before he passed away. I didn't think much of it at first and honestly didn't intend to play it (since I had just gotten Stardew Valley a few days prior).
About a week after he passed I played it and immediately fell in love with it. This game is what I'd define as one of the most beautiful games ever made. Is it short? Sure. But that doesn't change the fact that it was an experience I'll never forget and definitely one I'll never be able to experience a second time.
Whether or not you like puzzle games. Whether or not you like story games.
Play this game. Play it twice.

Amazing game.
Puzzles make you feel like a genius without being incredibly difficult, the world feels so real, it subverts traditional game design tropes like Undertale does but in a different way, it's just beautiful overall.

I've seen a lot, but I have very little to say. The game is simply a masterpiece, during the time I was playing it, it made me feel so much for the characters, especially Niko.
I had similar feelings to the experiences I had with Undertale, the story is engaging, the characters are captivating and the artwork quality is outstanding, what extravagant panels! The game is very complete, but honestly, even doing and retracing the endings, I still didn't feel as satisfied, as if I wanted more, honestly.
Memorable experience. Not much gameplay. Short. Setting: "Protagonist in unfamiliar world".
Story centered games are better experienced rather than read about.

It's a really good game. I won't really go into about story and characters as to not spoil your experience but just know the devs nailed those aspects really well. Gameplay-wise, same. The puzzle elements are interesting and cool without being too difficult or complicated and the 4th-wall breaking elements work perfectly. In short, buy Oneshot already, it's indubitably a masterpiece.
One Shot isn't a game you'll play forever, it isn't a game that will entertain you for hundreds of hours.

I'll preface this by saying that the only way to truly enjoy this game is to play it entirely blind - My only exposure to this game before starting was a song on youtube, and what spoilers were in it weren't enough for me to piece together anything, which was for the best. Now, onto the review.
This game is a work of art - It's tragic and joyful and everything else all at once. Having finished the game in its entirety just 4 minutes ago I can say with certainty that this game has been the most beautiful and emotional experience of my life - This game made me cry multiple times over the course of around 2 hours, which nothing else has managed to do to me. Please, buy the game and play it blind. It's a unique experience, beautiful and well-written in its entirety.

this game is WHOLE DIFFERENT LEVEL!!! i really loved the fact how you use your own computer to solve the puzzle, and niko was.... like my family. just like how i cherish them...
Incredible game with amazing characters and puzzle solving i sure do recomend it
This game gave me some UNDERTALE vibes, which is not really a bad thing. The art styles and environment were that same, spooky, unknown world that you are transported to at the start. The OST also fits this game perfectly, the music is very mysterious but also quite calming. Once you listen to some of the soundtracks before playing the game, you get a sense of the vibe that the game is gonna give you. The storyline is also something I have never heard of before. I liked how much I learned about the story of the game through NPCs and other text I find lying around. This game does require some brain power though, as there are some puzzles you are gonna have to figure out every now and then.
It may feel short to some, but it makes up for it in the art, designs, OSTs, storyline, and at one point I started getting attached to Niko because of the excellent character writing and dialogue. If you are thinking about buying this game, don't spoil yourself and buy the game ASAP.
Absolutely loved the game, the story, and the characters. The way the puzzles were implemented was really clever and interesting. The secret ending left me crying in a good way, I will forever remember this game. 100% recommend getting this game if you like emotional stories and meta breaking games. My only regret is that I can only experience it blind once.

i buyed this game not knowing what i expeckted i loved it the ending got me thinking a lot and i changed one of the best games i played (sorry for bad english i am not from eanglish speaking country)
Made me cry in the best way possible, some of the puzzles were a bit difficult but it gave some hints for people who are struggling, plus the story and visuals are so mesmerizing!
