I cant describe with words how much I enjoyed this game, it really brought back what I found fun about gaming in the first place for me, just go play this game and it will be the best 9 hours of your life
I am not that great at puzzles and although in this game they are not that hard they are quite tricky.
You only have One shot, better make it count.
This game is a masterpiece I would recommend everyone play this game. The story was absolutely amazing, hit me in the feels several times. I cant express how much I loved this game.
I love this game. This game's so cool. I don't think a game could be more perfect for me. 5/5 <3
Nothing is more lovable for me than very industrial environments and a cute cat? creature that likes pancakes and a little existentialism. Also nothing latches onto my brain more than trying to solve a puzzle. You cannot go wrong
This game was honestly something else. We went into it knowing that it was good, but it honestly managed to shatter all expectations. For one, while the pixel art is a bit simple, it works to add so much character to game and gives everything such a vibe that honestly hard for us to describe, but's really nice. Then there's them music, and my god, does it just add so much to everything you do, the soundtrack for this game is top-tier and you will not be left wanting if that is something you look for in games! The gameplay is also just amazing as well, a combination of puzzle's and unique game mechanics involving actually going into the files of the game to find stuff and doing things that you would honestly never do with other games just make for such a unique and interesting experience. We're writing this right off the back of getting the "true ending" of the game, and my god has it just been a absolute treat. The characters themselves are really easy to get attached too, each having their own unique personalities and designs and their interactions with Niko never failed to bring a smile to our face. Please, PLEASE, play this game, you will not regret it!
this game was honestly one of the best games ive played this year, its so underrated and the fact that the game actually messes with your computer and makes you look around for hints in how to progress makes it even more incredible, and how the game makes the player a part of the story, making them look like a "god" of some sorts, if youre planning to buy this game, just do it.
a short and sweet game with a charming story and unique gameplay involving manipulating game files !! such a great experience
I can't really review or describe this game. To describe or review a game like this feels, disingenious to the amount of work and passion that went into it, and I can't really describe this game without going into detail, either. What I will say is that this is a game that you need to play at some point in your life. It took me years to play it, and it was worth the wait.
i thought, that this game would be just silly one with hilarios jokes, but i was so wrong. this game have shocked me so freaking much when i started my second playthrough. oneshot definitely deserve good review
omgomgomgomgomg this game is AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE i love this game this is awesome 10/10 worht all you money the fanart is so cute get the game
It's like the first time you finish it, you don't know what to do so you restart it, then you finis hit again, and you just feel like you need to come back one last time to get the happy ending you deserve. But once you get that ending again you feel like you don't know what to do and you know you can't go back to the game again. 10/10 would play again.
Oneshot, the ten hour game that made me feel miserable over machines. :(
If you enjoy playing one in a lifetime experiences like Outer wilds, Undertale and Omori. (or point and click adventure games)
This game will be right up your alley if you like intriguing stories that take the full advantage of playing a game on a computer, you may also enjoy the puzzles for this very reason too (Check the files).
The game has the classic RPG game maker look & feel without any of the combat or team management that you might expect from games such as Undertale, Deltarune and Omori. But the 'special' puzzles more than make up for this fact if you love RPGS, although I wish it was used more with more editing & searching required. The puzzles left me wanting a little more, however these puzzles may be the reason that some may not enjoy this game, particularly those who might not be familiar using window's file explorer might struggle with the games unusual features. However there is a second version that may suite you more.
OneShot: World Machine Edition, is a portable version built for consoles that uses a virtual machine to mimic the experience of playing this game OneShot on PC. World Machine Edition would probably lessen some of the shock factor that I experienced playing the original steam version and it might affect some of the puzzles in the game (I haven't played it). However I have heard that it makes some puzzles easier and brings the larger console market. However if you are able to play on PC, I would personally suggest playing the original (preferably on a windowed tab like the game suggests) for the best experience. But play how you want to play, both games are priced the same and you do get some bonuses mainly extra collectables and also the ability to move diagonally, a map (which I would have loved and some general UI improvements) and a music box which contains the OST neatly organized. However it wasn't on sale when I bought Oneshot and I wanted the original experience even though it lacked these features.
No matter what version you play I can vouch from my experience that you will enjoy leading Niko through this game and uncovering the many twists and turns with Niko.
To you playing this game it is a story to always remember, to Niko it is a dream to never forget.
That's why I love this game and also the games I mentioned earlier (Outer wilds, Undertale and Omori). They are deeply personal because their stories resonate with me, and this game did too. So if you don't mind spending the same amount of money that the average Overwatch skin costs, I would implore you to consider buying OneShot.
A wonderful game that requires some skill, but, its all worth it.
My freind encouraged me to buy this game, and I do not regret my decision, this game was AMAZING.
Would play again, definetley
Holy shit this game is amazing. I don't even know what to say. This is a game that everyone needs to experience. The ending is perfect, the art style is amazing, and I love every character in this game, from the important ones to even the damn robots that are littered all over the game! the creator's of the game did an amazing job, and I am so glad i played the game blind. Please, If you're considering about buying the game, DO IT! I CANNOT RECOMMEND IT ENOUGH! I DON'T EVEN ENJOY PUZZLE GAMES THAT MUCH AND I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF THIS GAME. Please, just buy the damn game.
I havent even finsihed the game but i am glad that my special someone reccomended me to play, eh has been there fo rme through so much so that makes this game just that bit more speical to me on a more personal level. the puzzels are fantaic and hard, the character design are amazing and the whoel story so far is great. couldnt of done it with you , basil < 3
Easily one of the best indie games I've ever played. If you're a fan of narrative and unique games, don't even hesitate in buying OneShot and trying it for yourself. A masterpiece of a video game in my opinion.
A masterpiece. This is a deep and interesting game with mechanics that will pleasantly surprise you. Don't read the reviews, play the game. You have one shot
Oneshot is a unique puzzle game where you guide my beloved Niko through a world where they act as a Messiah. This game requires you to use your computer’s files to solve make progress, making the experience feel personal. The pixel art is charming, and the soundtrack adds to the emotional depth. If you love games with creative twists, this one is unforgettable.
This is one of those games were the story/narrative NEEDED to be in the format of a game. It cannot be expressed in any other medium as with the game format you really feel connected to the characters and the world, Everything just feels so real and it makes you feel emotions to when events occur. Just know to play this game blind and if you have trouble with the puzzles look up lets plays on YouTube cuz honestly some puzzles are confusingly simple. oh yeah and turn off wallpaper engine.
a beautiful beautiful world, which has changed my life. i truly believe everyone should play this. i'll always remember you, Niko.
ahhh. oh wow! wow. okay. that was nice! that was great. and nice!
I hope they're doing ok...
*I recommend the World Machine Edition for a repeat playthrough!

Great visual art, lovely story and character, but i'm not a big of a fan at 4th wall breaking puzzle especially when at episode 5 the tower where you should open game's document folder to access hint for the puzzle, idk if this mechanic of gameplay make player to actually open file explorer otherwise they look for a guide on website or just don't know what to do, and had to force closed the game everytime we done with these area. I mean it's really weird and i dont want to open my file folder or finding guide on internet! i just want to fully play the game without 12 google tabs running on my background...
But other than that, while this game had user-defined tags for "story rich", 60% of this game is just you figuring out what to do or for my case, trying to find the correct matches of lens that in the gigantic camera just for faking my identity...
not very much a complaint tho, basically every puzzle game is all like that.
I'm trying so hard to review about good part of this game, but it always counterpart with the same criticism of my experience playing this game, and why is it overwhelmingly positive probably comes down to visual art, story and character background like what i said before, i may be missed on something or just didn't understand it clearly, and it comes down with my conclusion.
Buy it if you want, refund if it's not your type of game, but still it's 10/10 for me, no hate.
[Playtime out of sync - actually 8 hours]
This was nice.
I feel like this is the kind of experience best received when you're younger - at the moment I wasn't SUPER impressed by the game itself, but the way it handled its core was quite nice. This is a very pleasant adventure puzzle game with comforting characters, with excellent music to boot. I'm glad I finally finished it. Worth to grab on a sale, even if only for the stellar tunes.
One of the best games ever made, personally I really enjoy the story telling I lied I gave the robot backshots and was happy until my dumbass friend dragged me back. Still an amazing game would recomend
One of the best experience i had playing any game. This game is beautiful! From the soundtracks, character designs and puzzles, it all combines and makes one of the best story game i ever played. This is the first game that actually made me cry. Im just speechless... I recommend this game to everyone.
Good game even if it took me 4 hours to complete because I couldn't do the puzzles
OneShot is a unique and heartwarming game. The story is creative, and the way it breaks the fourth wall is really cool—it makes you feel like you're part of the game itself. The puzzles are fun, and the art style is adorable. It’s a short but unforgettable experience that leaves you thinking long after you finish. The only downside is that it's over pretty quickly, but it’s definitely worth the short time you spend in its world. Highly recommend if you love emotional, story-driven games!
i love this game and its characters and ost, its a must-play if you like similar rpgs like undertale! the world is pretty too, all around very very good game
A beautiful story told through unique game mechanics
I've heard of this game for years but only recently began playing it. It was so worth it!
I got so freaked out by all the out of out of game stuff!
Cute story driven game with unique gimmick where you need to interact with the PC outside of the game.
Many people have already mentioned this in the comments, but let me repeat: do not read anything about the game before playing it to avoid possible spoilers! One piece of advice though: the game suggests playing in windowed mode—stick to it, as there are some interesting mechanics tied to this feature
As for my experience with the game... I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but it was a rather pleasant experience overall. Some puzzles were not very intuitive and took some time to solve, and the second part of the game felt a bit tedious. That said, I don’t regret spending 8 hours on this story. It never made me cry or even feel sad—though many players noted that it did for them—but it made decent attempts at evoking those emotions. Perhaps one needs to be in a particular mood for it to really resonate
The Game - Interesting, fun, sad
So yeah, this game has only one ending. I would like to play a second one, but that's the point of the game. You can only play one because you only have ONE shot. Well, if there are way to play second time, TELL ME!
This game is short, but gives fun.
Niko is the main character, and he need to save the world, becauce they do not have the sun, but at the end, Niko can tell if he wants to save the world or not.
I like the drawing of this game, soundtracks are the best!!! And atmosphere is very dark-bright
My opinion is a little biased BUT I DEFINITELY LOVE THIS GAME
I knew about this game and watch videos of it when i was like 12 years old and the fact that i knew about a new route of the game JUST NOW while playing it made me happy because for me it was like "new content", i was so happy i could finally play it on steam and make the 100% of the acheivements
Very enjoyable! This game offers the user, ways you can interact with the mechanics depending on your operating system. I've never played a game like this before, so me experiencing this for the first time was very unique and experimental.
My first impression when seeing the first fourth wall break was assuming this was another dystopian game overly focused on being meta without much substance besides occasionally jarring the player with its occurrence. However, its world and the ways the fourth wall breaking is done are creatively diegetic to its world. The puzzles are non-intrusive and are mostly given substantial hints by NPCs if you're stuck. The controls are intuitive and simple. There's no insane menuing involved with combining two items, and you can fast-travel instantly so long as you are outside. The visuals are emotionally evocative, especially the CG shots. And they're matched by amazing ambient music that really resonates with the scenes.
The checkpoint system is the most clever I've seen. While you are disincentivized from closing the game manually, between major areas Niko will become tired. When Niko goes to sleep in a bed, the game closes automatically with no consequences, essentially serving as the checkpoint system. When Niko awakens by reopening the game, a simple and sweet dream sequence will play, and a charming conversation between you and Niko will begin.
My only major complaint is how the game wants me to play in windowed mode. I understand its necessity with the fourth wall breaking stuff, but the small screen hurts my eyes after a while. Otherwise, a short but memorable experience.
Really cool mechanics, graphics, and story. I enjoyed playing through it a lot. I was delightfully surprised in many points of the game, and the unconventional use of the PC and program itself was extremely fun.
Started playing. Game broke within the first fucking room. I'm not going to go through all the folder stuff just to reset my data. Mid ass game
This game broke me, not even gonna lie. To be honest, the only thing i dislike about this game is how short it is. Welp, i will be replaying it for sure. Hear me out, if you like games like undertale, just stop reading reviews and buy it, play it. Graphics and soundtracks are amazing(nothing beats undertale), i enjoyed this game very much
This game specializes in 'synchronization'. The methods that developers use to do so are simply wonderful. Something only a 'game' can execute, not other media sources. At the end of the first part, when you make a 'choice', it begs the question: Are you being dragged into this simulation, or are you trying to drag Niko, the main character of the game, into your reality? In other words, what was the 'direction' of this synchronization between the game(simulation) and the reality(your computer)?
Either way, in the end, you don't want to 'replay' this game for the achievements, or perhaps for a different outcome. At least for me. Normally, that's not a good thing. If you just cleared a game for the first time and you loved the experience, you would want to have another run.
But this game nudges us differently - of course, not having a load from save option unlike other games plays a part here. Rather than playing again, you cherish the 'one shot' you had with other people, who also had their own one shot. After making a choice and completing the first part, your head is full of 'what could have been's and frankly would have left a bigger impact than playing the Solstice part and completing the story. I guess I was too late to enjoy that tension, which pre-steam players did in contrast.
However, there's no doubt that the Solstice part played a brilliant role of 'wrapping up' the experience and making the game 'complete' - and unironically it augments the meaning of the title - One Shot. You finally wave goodbye to Niko and Niko waves goodbye to you, both knowing it's better for each other to not meet again. Are you going to reminisce about this experience? Absolutely. But are you willing to run it back? No.
Unironically had to buy a new keyboard because I cried on my old one. 10/10. Protect the (not cat) child.
Just finished this game and it is definitely worth buying it, a nice story with a refreshing gameplay. Personally one of my favourite games
Short and sweet. Makes you very emotional.
Separates the player from the character, makes the player care for the character(s). Then...
Simple but GOOD visuals, amazing soundtrack, magnificent atmosphere.
Love the fandom too!
11/10
Es un juego precioso en todos los aspectos, con una forma de contar las cosas única, una banda sonora memorable y una historia inolvidable.
La conexión que se forma con Niko es difícil de ver en un videojuego.
holy fuck man story made me want to be a better person and damn the art makes me want to ascend to a higher plane of consciousness so I can appreciate it more
Fun 8 hours story.
Crazy cool and unique mechanics involving how you "play" with the game
emotional ending.
++
one of the most beautiful fucking games i felt like that one gif of danny devito crying and clapping after i beat it
i would impale my foot with a rusty nail spiked with hiv for niko i love them so much
Play this game please. It's such a fun game and it's easy to play on and off but it can make you feel genuine emotion. Best 4 hour experience ever
who would've thought this silly little cat would make me question how i perceive digital media and characters
It's wonderful. An absolutely amazing work of art. If you haven't played it yet, what are you even doing?
