Possibly one of the most 2016 indie games ever made. Mostly mean that positively, but I don't think the humour quite holds up.
I gave the game a 👍🏽, but admittedly…it’s a reluctant one. I will say, initially it was a lot of fun and even pretty hilarious trying (and failing) to control Samuel’s many bodily functions & parts, but it quickly becomes tedious and gets old. At the time I bought the game I didn’t have a Steam Deck, and from what I’ve read it’s much easier to control the character that way. So if I had the patience to, I’d replay the game that way but I just don’t, sadly.
I kind of wish there was a “thumbs neutral” option vs. only a thumbs up or down, because that’s where I feel like this game should be. Imho, it was really lacking in a few areas, but because I did enjoy it for about 10 or 20 minutes of the total time I played, I can’t give it a “no”…so there you go. A half-hearted thumbs-up, lol.
It is cute & will give you a chuckle, so I’d say buy it…but only if it’s on sale, Like really, really on sale.
more fun if played with a friend who is terribidle -sorry i meant terrible- at games...you will suffer...in a good way.
What a lovely game.
Whimsical and hilarious to the very end. I love the concept of this game, it has such an original set of mechanics.
The only negative thing I could say is that even though it's duration is perfect, I missed playing around with mechanics a little more in interesting ways that the final boss introduces, but still, this is a gem and a must-play.
You play as Samuel, who is a spoiled loathsome guy who ends up ded and resurrected for 24 hours in attempt to regain his life. During the 24 hours you must control Samuel's body and basic functions manually, including periodic breathing, blinking, walking, and...... other things.
A controller is almost a requirement otherwise certain areas can get bugged. Each body part and function is controlled by a different button and you have to move everything in tandem. You will get on-screen hints and prompts but there are times when this didn't happen for me and I got more than a little frustrated trying to figure out wtf I was supposed to be doing. There are also those slider button quick prompts which are sometimes built to fail and sometimes, again, just frustrating.
At first it was interesting and a little humorous but by the end of the game, which is short, I was so frustrated I almost quit before finishing it. I'm glad I completed it but I have zero interest in doing anything else like the time trials or whatever extra carpal tunnel torture content there is.
You also can't save in the middle of levels so if you shut down and come back you will be put back at the beginning of whatever level you were on. Not a HUGE deal because the levels are pretty short but there are a couple that require such irritating button sequences that losing the progress might make some people (me) rage a bit.
I initially started this because I played the demo for The Holy Gosh Darn and laughed my face off so much I got the full game and decided to try the others by the same dev. Aside from seeing more from a reoccurring character, Death, I don't really see why you would need to play this at all.
I give this one a strong MEH erring on the side of NO for me based on length of content to irritation ratio. Quirky concept but that's about all I got out of it. 2.5/5
A fun game to play, has a good and fun mechanic and surprisingly i did not find it boring after a while. Had a great time til the very end.
6/10 death kickflip on satan
but seriously, this one game that unique and hard too. also short cause i finished it in one sitting.
This is a very big "Yes but..". If you enjoy the humor the story can be very enjoyable. The game play is interesting yet simple, however in my opinion is best played on a controller. There is also a known glitch for the final boss fight were certain keyboards simply can't beat it so +1 for controller.
All of that being said, the game is painfully short. I usually have a standard for $1 for one hour of game play, I beat the game in less than an hour. Now, did I get $10 of enjoyment out of it? Yes, but the short length is something to consider. On sale it is definitely worth it
TL;DR Games humor, story and characters good, game very short, Buy on sale, play with controller. I love ass.
Really damn fun game with dark humor and sarcastic remarks, amazing stuff, especially for it's price, 8/10

Funny game
I love the story, I love the characters, I love the idea.
The original mechanics sort of feel like they go on too long, and then they switch it up right after.
There's at least one game breaking bug because of keyboard type, and the end fights are missing prompts and hints.
However, if you want to enjoy the humor from this developer, I'd definitely go through this 2.5 hour adventure.
And if you're into pain, do it more than once.
This is one of the funniest game I have ever played lol
Sometimes when you are struggling, the narrator makes funny comments that makes you laugh
100% Achievement Review: A review based on my experience completing all the (available) achievements.
Title: Manual Samuel
Summary: Funny keyboard game
Personal notes: A funny short story based on controlling Samuel manually, reminds me of Octodad but 2D with some dark humour. I had a decent time with this game although the time trials were quite frustrating.
Time it took to complete: 4hrs
Most difficult achievement(s):
- HOLY FECES! (Unlock all the Achievements in Manual Samuel)
- Golden Furniture (Get gold on every time trial)
Difficulty rating: 4/10
Overall rating: 5/10
I played this after I played Holy Gosh darn and lets be honest, It did not disappoint me. Yet it was such a good experience.

AMAZEBALLS
Many moons ago the people cried out " Oh woe is me, I wish to experience manual living for a single day, preferably a Tuesday!" They preferred that day for it was after bleak Mondays but before the dreaded Tuesday. "Oh I wish to be responsible for my own breathing but only in a safe, non-reallife threatening way!" They exclaimed, they had managed this in real life but the medical bills were piling up. "We wish for several wacky biblical characters to help flesh out this experience!" they finally added.
And so Perf Para presented Manual Samuel , the first part of The Tuesday Trilogy.
probably one of the best games i have played so far, its super funny, original jokes and the mechanic might seem annoying but it isnt that bad, you literally get used to it, you can beat the game in less than 2 hours probably but i messed around a bit and played the time games, its definitely worth it and the comics are funny
overall
9.8/10

A quirky and hilarious game where you control every aspect of a character's daily life. The offbeat humor and challenging controls make for a uniquely entertaining experience. A fun choice for fans of unconventional gameplay.
