In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. God saw all that he had made, and it was good. Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
'Ooops,' said god, seeing he had created a fool. But before he was able to remedy his error, man spoke;
'No backsies!' he chirped, and scuttled off into the forest.
About
Four Last Things is a point-and-click adventure game made from Renaissance-era paintings and public domain recordings of classical music. It is about sin, and the Four Last Things – Death, Judgement, Heaven and Hell – and strives to be intelligent and ridiculous in equal measures.
It's kind of like if Monkey Island had been made in 16th century Flanders, by a time-travelling Monty Python fanboy...

Really enjoyed this game. It was a pleasant surprise because I was not expecting it to be so funny and entertaining at such a good price. I now own the 2 sequels of this game and im so excited to finish them.
Ive literally pushed my entire backlog to the side to make space for this trilogy.
You simply have to play it.
Four Last Things takes you on a whimsical journey through a surreal world crafted from Renaissance paintings, where even the angels are caught off guard by the shenanigans that unfold. Picture a point-and-click adventure where Hieronymus Bosch and Hieronymus Karl Friedrich von Münchhausen could have shared a paintbrush and a joke or two.
The puzzles in Four Last Things are as straightforward as a devil's deal, yet wrapped in a Renaissance aesthetic that would make Da Vinci grin with approval. It's a short but sweet escapade, packed with enough classical adventure game tropes to make any seasoned player feel right at home.
As you navigate through this bizarre realm, you'll find yourself chuckling at the clever wit that echoes the comedic genius of Monty Python. The art direction in this game is a masterpiece, a tapestry woven with the threads of Renaissance mastery and Terry Gilliam's twisted dreams.
In Four Last Things sin and satire collide in a glorious mess of artistic anarchy. Prepare to have the fourth wall shattered into delightful shards as the characters deliver lines that make the angels in Heaven blush with laughter.
A short but very unique point and click adventure game. I also appreciate the developer putting down most of the paintings they used, 'twas interesting to see what artwork went into making this game and further looking around different rennaisance artists.
Four Last Things feels like wandering into a medieval painting and finding out everyone’s secretly unhinged. The game combines gorgeous Renaissance artwork with a completely ridiculous sense of humor. Your goal? Commit all the sins you can because apparently, bureaucracy even exists in heaven.
The puzzles are clever without being frustrating, and the solutions usually have you thinking, "Wait, can I really do that?" Spoiler: you can, and it’s hilarious. The humor is spot-on if you’re into weird, Monty Python-style absurdity.
It’s a short game, but that works in its favor—just the right length to enjoy the quirky vibe without it overstaying its welcome. If you’re looking for something different, funny, and surprisingly smart, Four Last Things is an absolute gem.
Awesome visuals, fine gameplay, good but a bit too repetitive music
Very short but was very cheap on sale
This game is PAINTfully funny and delightful.
If you're a fan of Monty Python's Flying Circus, get this game.
If you're not, become one, and get this game anyway.
(The story is great, the gameplay is fantastic, and the game is delightfully silly.)
A silly game, that is also a bit silly when it comes to screen appearance.
Really enable point and click experience which captures all the quirkiness of renaissance art. Very different, creative, atmospheric, silly and funny. Definitely recommend!
This is a short but fun game. The art and the music are so so good!
funny writing and fun puzzles (got stuck but skill issue lol) also RENAISSANCE ART!!
Short and sweet, following in the same way as the previous title but more tightly designed, with less frustrating dead ends.
Had more fun with this game than I thought. I was constatly laughing. Thanks devs for this masterpiece. Looking forward to play more games from you.
Funny game, nice puzzles, original
It's a funny game and the art style is really fun. I love how artistic point-and-click games can be. Overall a very enjoyable experience!
Masterpiece, funny, beautiful, colorful, instructive
Short but fun - beautiful use of renaissance-era paintings! Well worth your $2.
As an art student who has written school reports of Hieronymus Bosch and other Renaissance artists, it thrilled me to no end seeing their art animated in such a fun and cheeky way. There were several times I became the “Leo Pointing” meme when seeing famous paintings I recognised in the art history books.
I appreciate the strong influence to the Monty Python humour and Terry Gilliam animations, but what really impressed me was the credit given to the original painters and musicians. Interacting with musicians will note what song they are playing, and the art gallery in town lists the paintings and artists that inspire the games’ characters and locations.
Bravo, Joe! I’m excited to play the rest of the triptych!
An absurd and cynical comedy for people that enjoy The Secret of Monkey Island, Monty Python, and Hieronymus Bosch.
I was intrigued by Death of the Reprobate and thought I'd give this one a try first. I loved it, fun puzzles and witty writing, plus ingenious use of medieval/renaissance art to create the world. Can't wait to play other titles from this creator.
❤️
Short but funny. The weird source material is made even weirder by putting the pieces in even more out of place places inside the game :p
A nice, quick, and funny game. Highly recommend!
This is hilarious, peak/10!!
Very funny
*applause*
a short and funny game that brings classical art to life.
Cured my religious trauma. Immaculate visual, soundscape, and writing.
.
omyygorshhhhh i love this gameeeee
I love this series, using Python-style animations of classical art. This is shorter than its successors, but great fun. You need to tick off the seven deadly sins, some easier to do than others. There's a few extra achievements to get, so you can replay. Once you know what to do, the game is quite short, but there's plenty of Easter eggs to find, for example looking at all of the gallery artwork. Check out the other games in the series too.
Super Well made and well written. Nobody else makes games like this one. A must for fans of point-and-clicks.
Four Last Things is another masterpiece by Joe Richardson. I played The Procession to Calvary (another of Richardson’s works) beforehand and that has colored my view of this game. Consequently, I should have played Four Last Things before The Procession to Calvary , while this has no bearing on the story, Richardson has grown as a story teller and game developer. Four Last Things is a unique point-and-click game, and anyone playing it is in for a good time. I recommend for anyone wanting to explore Richardson’s games they start with this one.
It seems a bit unfair to point out some of the games weak points, because they have been addressed in the next game, but I suppose it will serve my argument as to why you should play this first. The art style Richardson uses is witty and fantastic, but its hard to know what is an interactable and what isn’t. During my play through I missed a door and wasn’t made aware until I had to look up a walkthrough. There were some interactables that didn’t serve the story or atmosphere, and the game could have gone without. The humor in this game was still great, but when compared to The Procession to Calvary , it was very, very tame and I know Richardson is capable of more.
The game’s story was a highlight. It’s such a sublime experience and the construction of the puzzles are clever. Interestingly I enjoyed the “double click to run” feature better in this game than I did in the next installment. This game is short and sweet as it is, and can be completed in an afternoon, however, I wish it was a bit longer. I feel that this game could have handled an act II without overstaying its welcome. I highly recommend picking up Four Last Things and The Procession to Calvary , they would be a perfect way to spend a weekend.
I was an innocent, sweet angel before this game, but it made into a filthy little sinner. Now I'm in hell and it's all Hieronymus Bosch's fault! 10/10 game <3
A delightful romp through Medieval Europe, an art history lesson of Flemish painters and a mind-bending puzzler. A very pleasant surprise for me but the gameplay could be a little bit longer in my opinion. Certainly buy it on sale.
This game is surprisingly well-written, funny and thought provoking. Amazing visuals aside, it's a really high quality point and click adventure.
this dev's games are always so cool and unique!!!! such a joy to play through
Such a funny and creative game. Only took me over an hour to beat (because envy was stumping me for a while, despite being the easiest lol) but I'd say that's well worth the price, especially on sale. Plus the gallery where you can see all the paintings used and the artists that made them was such a good idea. Joe Richardson you have won my heart with this one
Lute duel 10/10
Piers Plowman seasoned with more satire and dark humour
喜欢喜欢… 一开始以为是纯 anti-Catholic 的乐子但最后就着 Satie 一下一下凿石头又很好品
And everything about damnation would eventually come down to Dr Faustus:
MEPHIST. All places shall be hell that are not heaven.
FAUSTUS. Come, I think hell’s a fable.
MEPHIST. Ay, think so still, till experience change thy mind.
Really enjoyable little game - definitely worth picking up in a sale. Gameplay is probably 1-2 hours, reminding me of the Act 2 section of many point n clicks where you go on the hunt for a list of stuff in a larger area.
Some solutions are a little contrived but the map/number of locations is small enough that it's not too much of an issue.
Humour is really great, especially once you realise that *everything* in the game is chopped directly from crazy Renaissance-era paintings.
Definitely recommend, can't wait to try out The Procession of Calvary next!
I am a Ride Or Die now Joe Richardson. I will not let a game you make go unplayed. Day one Purchaser from here on out.
I really like the atmosphere of the game, as a fan of Renaissance art and Hieronymus Bosch in general. The puzzles are quite tricky and sometimes you get lost during the gameplay. The way they recreated the paints and the good colors is truly remarkable. I find it more enjoyable to look at and admire the paintings than the game itself. Fans of Renaissance monsters will love this fantastic game.
