But as you explore, slowly, meaning begins to arise, the paradoxes might start to make sense, perhaps you are powerful after all. The game is not here to fight you; it is inviting you to dance.

This is an interesting game. There's a narrator that tells the entire story. You have two choices; obey the narrator and follow the story, or disobey the narrator and create your own story. There are several endings you can choose from, and everything you do affects the story in a different way. Overall, this game has unique gameplay that's different than other games.
Stanley completed the game and immediately uninstalled. There was no need to see any alternate endings, complete any achievements, or recommend this game to anyone
i love(!) when easiest games have the hardest achivements, very good game though
What can I say? The Stanley Parable is an amazing game. 10/10. There are many endings and alternatives. Get all the achievements, its worth it.
A masterclass in level design and narrative structuring.
Interesting game. I'd have more playtime in it except I'm waiting 5 years for the achievement.
Good game. I like all the things you can do. I wish there was more, but, I did get the base game, so, you know. Wish it was a little more complex to beat, too. I like all the endings, but I don't like that you just do everything you're told for freedom.
I've put 4 hours into this game and gotten 9 of the 10 achievements.
I will need to put in 6x that to get the last one.
The Stanley Parable – The Game That Makes You Question Your Own Life Choices
Ah, The Stanley Parable - a game that’s less about playing and more about making you question the very concept of gaming and existence. If you’re tired of straightforward narratives where you do things, accomplish goals, and feel that small sense of satisfaction, then this game is here to ruin all of that for you. This is essentially a glorified walk-through a philosophical midlife crisis, but with more doors and fewer existential meltdowns.
As for the narrative, it’s brilliantly twisted in a way that makes you feel like you’re in an episode of a psychological thriller where the villain is a guy reading you a script and the plot is you trying to figure out if you should follow him or not. Spoiler alert: Neither path leads to anything resembling “progress.”
a LOT of stuff to do
like theres a narrator quote for everything
BUT
i dont think its worth 15 buckaroonies...
Still very good game i love it thank you
Broom closet my beloved.......
i got cool achievementttt yay
i have so much good memories with this game...
back in the day, i couldn't get out of here, completing it every time and finding new endings. i love everything about this game, EVERYTHING. from the narrator's voice to Stanley, endings, details, story
make The Stanley Parable great once again. it requires much more attention from people
Cool little game. Very meta in its essence but its just a meme to go around in and get some achievements whilst also enjoying some of the easter eggs that the developers left. Its really really short but it has multiple endings as well as different paths that you can go down as well as things to do. Very much worth a shot especially if you've never played/watched it
7 / 10
idk what the point of this gaem but i love to disobey the narrator
This is the thing that troubles me, for I cannot forget Carcosa, where black stars hang in the heavens, where the shadows of men's thoughts lengthen in the afternoon when the twin suns sink into the Lake of Hali; and my mind will bear forever the memory of the Pallid Mask.
The Stanley Parable isn’t just a game, it’s a groundbreaking piece of interactive art that challenges the very essence of what a game can be. For me, it’s one of the most revolutionary and dearest experiences in gaming. This game doesn’t just break barriers; it shatters them entirely, offering something so unique and unconventional that it’s almost impossible to categorize. I first experienced The Stanley Parable when I was 14 or 15, and it completely blew my mind. Now, at 21, I’m still amazed by how timeless and layered this game is. Every time I revisit it, I find new endings, new paths, and new ways to interpret its story. It’s a game that grows with you, and its brilliance feels just as fresh and impactful as it did when I first played it.
At its core, The Stanley Parable is deceptively simple. You walk, you make choices, and you listen to the narrator. But that simplicity is where its brilliance lies. The game uses its mechanics to explore profound philosophical questions about agency, accountability, and the illusion of choice. It forces you to confront the reality of your decisions, not just in games but in life, and reflects on how much control we truly have.
The meta-commentary is sharp, witty, and deeply introspective. It critiques how we experience media, especially video games, exposing how much we rely on structure and how uncomfortable we feel when that structure is disrupted. It deconstructs not only gaming tropes but also the player’s relationship with narrative and interactivity. In many ways, it feels like the game is taking you apart piece by piece, mirroring the process of breaking down a game engine to understand its inner workings.
What makes The Stanley Parable even more remarkable is how inspirational it has been for the gaming industry. It’s a stepping stone in the evolution of walking simulators and games that break traditional mechanics. By embracing the “less is more” philosophy, it shows that a game doesn’t need elaborate graphics or complex systems to leave a profound impact. Its commentary, its subversion of expectations, and its willingness to be entirely different have influenced countless developers and redefined what storytelling in games can achieve.
Of course, The Stanley Parable isn’t for everyone. Its unconventional nature and refusal to conform to traditional gaming norms can make it a hit or miss. But for those who resonate with its ideas, it offers an entirely new perspective, not just on gaming but on the act of creation, storytelling, and choice itself.
One downside I feel compelled to mention is how the Ultra Deluxe version was handled. While it adds more content, it does so by essentially reselling the game, which feels ironic considering one of the original game’s pathways mocks this exact trend in gaming. It’s a misstep that feels contradictory to the game’s otherwise sharp self-awareness. Unless it’s heavily discounted, I find it hard to justify rebuying the same game for a handful of extra endings. For first-time players, though, the Ultra Deluxe version is the way to go, as it offers the most complete experience.
For me, this game isn’t just entertainment; it’s a lens through which I see media differently. It’s a masterpiece that I revisit often, and it continues to inspire me with its depth, humor, and ingenuity. If you’re open to a game that challenges your perceptions and invites you to question everything, The Stanley Parable is an experience you cannot miss.
Very good even though its simple
Fun exploring the different pathways.
amazing game, the narrator is absolutely hilarious
Very good game I really appreciate the references to other games its always my favourite part about games finding the Easter eggs. The narrator is very funny and the story is well done. It can get repetitive but that's the fun, going through it multiple times to find all the hidden things and different endings.
It doesn't seem like the longest play experience (though I'm not quite done with it yet), but it's one of the most interesting and entertaining I've had in ages, and all of this without being able to jump. Safe for kids. Highly recommended.
This is only a not recommended because you might as well get the fuller version these days.
Its a funny, witty, varied experience that manages to be so much more then the one note meme indie gems of its time.
That said I'm not thrilled about the way they've chosen to add content, by reselling the game, irony being there's literally a section in one of the pathways making fun of that exact same trend in gaming, yet they managed to fall the the trap they set up (in a similar way little infernos DLC managed to). And lest it goes like 90% discount I'm not likely to ever rebuy the same game just for a few other "endings". But if you are looking to get this for the first time, sure get that version.
I mean... come on! If you don't have this game, buy this game. Or the rebooted/refreshed/recharged version. This is one of those seminal games on Steam that every player should have. CMV.
The end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is-
get the goddamn game man, if you feel the need to check the reviews,
also dont be like me and just get this version- get Ultra deluxe
I didn't care for it. Also, it got some really shitty achievements that are almost impossible to get (e.g. a serious speedrun, which is a thumb down by itself of course).
Died in broom closet, destroyed mind control machine, escaped to countryside, ignored Narrator, entered blue door, killed a baby, played Minecraft and portal, fell into abyss, entered red door, went to happy place, committed suicide to leave happy place, got lost, followed adventure line (Trademarked), turned on mind control machine, got nuked, ordered 1000 boxes, went insane, killed Narrator, almost escaped floor 760, went to Heaven.
All in 93 minutes and in that order
427 out of 10
This is not a conventional game, but it was a fun experience, thank you
I'm in the broom closet because I want to know what you're going to say next, my dude. Once you shut up I'm going to leave. Jeez.
good game needs more content
This game is easy, this game is hard.
This game is fun, this game is boring.
This game has amazing jokes, the jokes are outdated.
This game has amazing graphics, the graphics look like a PS1 game.
This game has too many endings, this game doesn't have enough endings.
This game is great, but get Ultra Deluxe instead.
A game about games, for people who play games. Delightful.
Super fun game with so many alternate ways to play and screw with the narrator.
A fun story game worth trying, even if its not quite worth the hype.
At first I thought it would be pointless to play this, since I've already beaten the deluxe edition. I figured that the original would just be the same thing but, well, worse. It exceeded my expectations to say the least. I like the difference in lighting, this one's much more dim. And a cool feature in this, that's not in the deluxe edition, is CHEATS. I love it so much, I've never had so much fun. There's also just a few things that are different than the deluxe edition, and I just love this game so much.
This is the story of a man named Stanley and by god what a strange and lovely story it is.
Dare to go right.
One of the funniest and most clever games I have played. The less you know about the game, the better.
Existential crisis activate!
I'm late to the game. Literally. But... I love this game! I first came to learn about this when I watched a YouTuber (Markiplier) play this. Now that I have a (half) decent setup and adult money... I downloaded it. Did not disappoint. And yes, I have the second one on my wishlist.
This is a great game, but fuck the unachievable achievement.
It's the stanley parable game! Buy the stanley parable game!
Very great game, did enjoy, 10/10 Narrator
10/10 game although it made me not play it 5 years straight
this game changes you, for worse! LOOOL. the narrator sounds so dumb i bet he actually thinks
This game still holds up. I never played it when it first came out, since I didn't even have this software when this game came out, but I highly recommend it. Even with it being so old now, it's still a blast. I did not know to expect as I had never seen a play through before. Part of the fun is being blissfully unaware and just along for the ride. I'd like to say it's pretty chill but because I felt the need to go to every length to get 10/10 achievements and every ending, no. To be honest the deluxe edition seemed to overwhelming for my completionist self, and too expensive, so I went with this one. Will probably play deluxe in the future. All I can say is the serious table is hella serious, like my guy is genuinely not messing around.
Many unexpected endings! Some endings at first make it seem like you come across a bug in the game, but if you keep walking you'll realize you're still part of the game
I likey this game =) It's pretty nice and I like the endings.
funny game
i can't not not stanley'nt anymore no more, clever game, game, very clever game
The Stanley Parable is a well-crafted, glorious little game. At this point, hearing the voice of that familiar narrator is like a warm, comforting old pillow that has sat waiting for me on my bed for years. I know that sweet thing will guide me. And I will do as he wishes. Or not.
I've always loved the way games play with their own mechanics to create shockingly funny moments. The unexpected knowing tasks in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, the goofy dialogue at choice moments of various Final Fantasies, the whole thing going on in the Portal games. And The Stanley Parable is that in unadulterated, pure form.
Everything is about how you twist or defy the game, and it's marvellous. There's a great tactility to the gameplay, something real and delicious about button presses and such, and an incredible attention to detail that expands into things like the Steam achievements, and of course now, the meta-commentary of the sequel.
Please give me my glorious achievement for not playing the game for five years. Love you.
very confusing, got a headache. still very fun tho
