Azulgar is an procedurally generated open world space sandbox survival game inspired by legendary game Freelancer. By buying an open alpha you will support us in the developement of the new game features such as mining minerals from planets and asteroids, new weapons and hopefully soon even the whole game! But even now the game has a lot to offer, players can customise their own spaceships, exploring the vast universe of Azulgar and compete or cooperate with other players thanks to optional multiplayer.

I own this game since 2018. This crap "game" is 7 years on the Steam Store page and got no updates since january 2023.
Its a tech demo at best and not a game. Dont waste your money on this one.

Where to start with this one, Azulgar: star commanders boasts itself as Quote: "sci-fi action oriented sandbox roleplaying game with FPS elements".
is it sci-fi? yes... but it is more 'fi' then 'sci'. the ships act like there is drag slowing it down. so no getting up to speed and then coast along. no you have to keep holding the forward button to keep moving. so if you are on a keyboard like I am, I hope you have a small piece of lead or brass to weigh down your W key because getting anywhere will take a while.
is it action? No... no it is not. the ship I started with has no weapons, and the ship I started with was already at half health. after dying once I managed to get to a shipyard to tinker with it. no weaponry to choose from there. The only way this game is 'action' is by the simplest definition; press key, which is an 'action', stuff happens.
is it a sandbox? Yes it is. but unlike the Real life box in the ground with play sand in it, you won't be building any significant sand castles or cool stuff with the 'ship editor' that this game sports to and I quote "Build huge ships or small fighters". more on the Editor later.
Is it a Roleplaying game? No, not that I can see. From what limited I could see and do, there is no real role to play. space is dotted with asteroids, dust clouds that drain your power generation and will slowly widdle away at your hull for no reason, some debries from stations or ships and stations themselves. regardless of that I don't see any roleplaying elements in sight. no player development of any kind. expend your ship design at a shipyard maybe but nothing else.
Does it have FPS elements? No it does not. FPS an acronym for First Person Shooter (or Frames Per Second, but we are talking about a game element not game performance here). meaning any game in which you are looking through the eyes of your virtual reprisentation, and primarily shooting enemies that come your way. the Afformention description is the definition of the FPS genre. This game has only a 3rd person view as far as I know. and you are only flying a ship. no possibility to jump out.
The Editor? The ship editor is very limited. no controls for rotating parts and placing them where and how I actually want them. you can put on symmetry mode and apply some paints. but everything on your ship is surface mounted by way of surface dragging. meaning everything you place will be on top of the hull itself. even if your hull parts are larger then the cockpit unit or even smaller then your engine nozzle. an as mention, there is no rotating parts. the actual rotation is applied by the game whenever it feels like it. most of the time the orientation of say a extra wing part is such that it ends up looking like a scoop of a bulldozer.
Configuration options themselves are also severely lacking. going onto the config menu for controls, nothing is listed but mouse sensitivity and 1 axis inversion. so even if there was a button for targeting, firing weapons and rotating ship parts. I won't be able to tell what they are as the controls configuration menu is blank. there is a 'press F1 for help' but that gives even less information as to what the controls are.
Oh and on the storage page the game boasts multiplayer, don't hold your breath on that to tide you over as the option is grayed out in the main menu. In other words, not implimented. and even if it was, the best you can do is knock into eachother like bumper cars at the fair as there are no weapons in game.
and as far as the single player goes, space is dead. dead in the fact that there are some stations dotted around with some visual wreckage, but there is no actual activity. no other ships flying around to make it interesting.
Final verdict; I'm sending in a refund.
For those of you that are experiencing the infinite death please right click and go to options, click local files, and verify the integrity of files, it fixed the problem for me, i have had this for a while and just decided to try this so it occours to me that it might not have been tried by those people with negative reviews stating that this is occouring. actually going to try playing now to see how i like it.
Why have you released this game in its current form.. its been 6 months and you've only managed to make the game worse.
DON'T RELEASE A GAME IF YOU HAVENT EVEN GOT THE BASICS WORKING YET...
yet this is the norm now.. shells of a game being released and never getting updated..
i feel like i've been lied to. half the tags for this game are a lie. there are no multiplayer servers and even if there was was it would be for a deathmatch game they obviously thrown in just to be able to say the game is multiplayer...but alas cant be played because no servers. this game states or implies that there is a sandbox multiplayer universe . there is no such thing. extremely unhappy. i hope development doesnt stop because i do want to play the game these devs have in mind. till then do not buy this game
The multiplayer co-op doesn't work, even though it's shown as a feature and is searchable as a co-op game.
Edit: The difficulty of the first fight is probably related to the Skulls above the enemies; you might not be expected to fight them. The multiplayer co-op tag is still an issue. I'll update if that gets fixed and we play it again.
This game look gorgeous but I Just can't get my head around the controls, I'm used to using a keyboard/mouse to control my ships/fighters etc as in Empyrion/Warthunder etc, the controls feel nice and smooth but too unnatural for me to play 'm sorry.

Been watching this one for a while and, on a night where I was bored out of my skull, took the plunge. It's still (very) short on features but both the art style and flight model are top notch (although it's only mouse and keyboard for now, which is a bit awkward), and the weapons feel very satisfying to use.
Well, I love the concept. Just nothing to do. Of course it is "Early Access" but I would think at least there would be something to do. I mostly just made ships and tested them. I have hopes for this one, although I have seen many games like this stall out.
I can't quite put my finger on this but there is definatly something really good here.
The combat is hard (or i might just be rubbish) and i die or lose my weapons really quickly. Desipte this being early access it runs smoothly. Aiming and moving around is going to take some learning.
Editor ship buliding is pretty simple but that's a good thing, you can make a cool ship in next to no time then jump out to blast away (only to find you have no ammo boxs attached).
Everyone says potential on early access games so much so it's a bit of a cliche' but this really does have it and could turn out to be a fun title
Loving this game it has so much potential. The spaceships look incredible.
One hour was enough to see that this game is not worth buying. Low online population. Controls are strange and attempting to pick up drops is a huge pain. May repurchase in the future but for now I took the refund.
i like it but i will temporaraaly delete it and redownd it when there are more people online
i dont have alot of time into the game at all cause dont get alot of time to play these days, but i will say from what ive seen and played and from the devs and frequent updats SO Far, its deffinitly a game keeping an eye on and deffinitly worth buying if your into these type of games.

Summary
This game needs some work but its on the right path. There was a few spots I had issues with: 1, when building the ship I couldn't seem to snap things to the right spots it just wanted to snap in the center always. 2, When in the game there is no ui buttons to find units so its easy to loose them. 3, Not serious but when "Missles" are fired they are ear splitting loud.
Some of the things I liked is that you can take control of a single unit to make a bigger impact. You can create your own versions of the main ship and station. Cheesy StarWars intro.
Pros
- Custom ship/Station editor.
- Online modes, pvp, coop etc.
- Switch from third person to single unit control.
Cons
- Crazy loud audio spikes.
- Editor lacks specific control.
[*]Ui is cluttered and lacks tools and descriptions that are normal to a RTS.
My Opinion
I do not recommend this at this time. Till at the very least the UI is fixed and hotkeys are added.
