Warning: GameGuru Asset Flip!
The Return Home Remastered is a what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" bought the GameGuru first person shooter construction kit (no coding required, it's just a GUI!) and cobbled out a map or two using GameGuru and other stock 3D assets... nothing in this game can fully be called the creation of the developer, and yet they also failed to credit GameGuru or acknowlegde any of the GameGuru assets. They're trying (badly) to pass someone else's work as their own.
It's just a bunch of random GameGuru assets dropped around a really lazy, stock textured GameGuru map template. Some effort went into acquiring different assets than the stock Gameguru ones (to some extent) but it still looks like most of this is from the GameGuru asset store. And, another incredible feat of game development, instead of just shooting the various NPC assets on the screen, you have to avoid them and collect carrots instead. This probably added anywhere up to 20 minutes onto the development time for this GameGuru asset flip.
This asset flip is so badly done it's even using the default GameGuru launch icons and "options" pages... and let's be clear, GameGuru is a completely godawful construction kit. If you try to take it seriously as a game, you'll find no resolution or graphics tweaks, no controller tweaks... it's horribly optimised and will be sluggish even on high end rigs.
You can make the argument that GameGuru exists to just make demos and little experimental games to pass around with friends, but that's not what's happened here... the developer is seriously trying to scam people into paying money for this construction kit copy+paste asset flip. That's not okay!
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
So, should you buy this GameGuru asset flip? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam?
The Return Home Remastered is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 11,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.

The Return Home Remastered
10/10
good game, runs well. Collect carrots and avoid lizards. Then get ray gun and shoot said lizards. Sad dramatic twist ending, highly recommend!
You can't hate yourself enough to want to play this.
I did a game-play video on this game check it out on my YouTube channel here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhFfMlswS4c
made me pull my hair out
WTF

Wonderfull game, beautifull story, all game aspects are very well-made. Graphics aren't the best but you can easily handle them. Story is cunning, very impressive and brave. Simply one of the best games out here 10/10
I bought the game last week, game wasn't properly published (thus unplayable) until I had a chat with Steam Support. That said, here's the review after the game became playable.
The Return Home is a game about a rabbit thrown out of its home by lizards for an inexplicable reason and now the rabbit's after revenge.
From the time I've spent playing the game, I'd say you can beat this game in about 20 minutes or less. The first half of the game is you just running around on a fetch quest, the second half is a sketchy FPS against the shoddy AI lizards you spent the first half running away from, after which the game just ends out of the blue.
The graphics are okay and it's always neat to see some cel-shading. However, several problems arise with broken lighting and other visual effects, causing significant performance lag, especially on the second half of the game.
The in-game music is mostly just a semi-repetitive beat akin to certain tracks from the Serious Sam games. The cutscene music is excessively loud in comparison. You can't skip the cutscenes and the options only become available after entering the game itself.
In short, despite its low price tag, the game is not currently in a state you'd get much bang for your buck. It'd probably last you longer than a candy bar, but the aftertaste isn't as pleasant. Don't get it.
Also, what's up with that completely empty "About" button in the main menu?
