10/10, great game (if you're a narrative game fan). that's all there is to say
This game has a good story to it, but your decissions don't feel like they do much in the end. Also there are a few glitches with the graphics that never got fixed, mainly whenever Jim Gordian is smoking a cigarette, it's very noticeable and kinda distracting
An amazing batman game. The story is really interesting. It feels like a classic batman comic but one that you can make choices in that impact the story. If you don't like the style of teltales games then you probably won't like this but if you're like me who loves teltale games and loves batman games you won't be disapointed,
i love how tell tale tells tales its very unique because i love tales and tell tale tells this tale perfect did i mention tell tale is good at telling tales
Really good game! Love how the story playes out after the choices you make!
Really great game for any Telltale or Batman enthusiast. Great story and interactions!
It's Batman story mode. Decent but typical TellTale game.
Great game with tough choices to make along the way and all of the episodes were enjoyable.
A very good game! Though not as good as it's sequel. Its hard to come back to this one after experiencing it's sequel and how much it was kicked up. I still recommend it, if not just to catch up on the story for the second game.
Amazing Story And Graphics, Loved the Characters and dialogue, animations were sometimes goofy, Still Pretty Good

The most interesting thing about this title is that it might be the first "Bruce Wayne" game, at least it's the first one I've ever encountered. You'll likely spend at least as much time as Wayne as you will behind the iconic cowl in this title, which allows for some interesting storytelling.
Otherwise this is the standard "Choose Your Own Adventure" book type game that Telltale became famous for. Most of the decisions you make will be in the form of time-sensitive dialog choices. The game giving you a few seconds to decide whether you want your Bruce/Batman to be more noble and empathetic, brutal and brooding or somewhere in-between. This and a handful of slightly more major decisions will determine how much various characters like you and in what order certain plot events will play out. The destination is mostly preordained but the journey will vary based on your choices.
This is NOT an action game, the mechanics for action scenes show them as mostly an afterthought. Consisting of simple quick-time events, the price for failure being an immediate reload to right before you died.
Pros:
-Excellent voice acting really helps the game feel immersive.
-Good artwork
-A nice Batman story to experience with some interesting new takes on familiar characters.
Cons:
-Gameplay mechanics are pretty stale, betraying the diminishing returns of the "one size fits all" approach to storytelling that ultimately destroyed Telltale games.
-It feels like there's less ways to meaningfully change the story outside of how characters react to you than in "The Wolf Among Us" which is the only other Telltale game I've played. While that game was also based on a DC comic, I imagine the writers on this title had their hands tied by Warner Brothers licensing more in regards to what characters could do and how they could be depicted.
-If you're looking for an action adventure game rather than a character driven story like you might see in a TV show or movie (or the more modern Batman comics) you will most likely hate this. I would recommend sticking to the excellent Arkham Batman series of games instead.
Batman: The Telltale Series is less a video game and more a $15 therapy session for emotionally stunted billionaires who think punching clowns in a fursuit qualifies as a personality. Step into the polished leather boots of Bruce Wayne, a man so pathologically allergic to joy that he’d rather spend his nights dressed as a flying rodent than admit he’s one rooftop grapple away from needing a Xanax prescription. This isn’t a superhero story it’s a narcissism simulator, a choose-your-own-adventure where every decision boils down to “brood stoically” or “brood theatrically.” Finally, a game that understands that true masculinity isn’t about saving Gotham it’s about maintaining a jawline sharp enough to slice through your own daddy issues.
The gameplay? A masterclass in performative angst. Why solve problems with charisma or logic when you can just glower at them until they surrender? The dialogue choices are a revelation: Press X to “Gruffly Nod,” Y to “Growl Cryptically About Justice,” or B to “Casually Remind Everyone You’re a Self-Made Vigilante Billionaire™.” The real challenge isn’t defeating the Penguin it’s resisting the urge to scream “DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?!” at your butler every time he suggests you maybe stop weaponizing your trauma. And let’s talk about that “dual identity” mechanic! Nothing says “healthy coping mechanisms” like switching between Bruce’s “smoldering charity gala smirk” and Batman’s “I-eat-broken-glass-for-breakfast” voice mid-conversation. The plot twists? Soap opera writers weep with envy.
The true genius here is how the game caters to the alpha-male power fantasy. Every villain is just a mirror held up to Bruce’s ego a gallery of rogues who exist solely to whisper, “You’re different from us… but also kinda the same, right?” Even Alfred, the long-suffering enabler, is basically a hype man in a waistcoat, feeding you quips about “the mission” while subtly judging your life choices. And the Batcave? A monument to excess, stocked with enough gadgets to make Elon Musk blush. Who needs therapy when you’ve got a grappling hook and a basement full of unresolved rage?
Is it fun? Absolutely, if your idea of fun is cosplaying as a emotionally constipated demigod while aggressively ignoring the concept of “work-life balance.” Five stars. Ten stars. A constellation shaped like a Bat-Symbol. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go practice my “I’m-not-angry-I’m-disappointed” glare in the mirror Again.
- I find this unique take on Batman lore to be pretty good.
- Satisfying, story-driven gameplay but feels like something missing
-Most of the negative reviews are from people who don't play telltale games and just wanted something to fill the void from the Arkham franchise, just know, this is NOT a game like that
6.5/10
Another game from the Telltale series. Personally, I really enjoy the storytelling style in this company's games. I give this 8/10 .
At the end, Amirane's advice : never fall in love with the beauty of girls' sexy bodies !
The Dark Knight and its consequences.
Incredibly bland gritty Batman story where the criminals are just criminals out of a CSI show. Also the era where it was still normal to go over his parents dying over and over. BORING
Might be the lamest version of the Penguin and there have been some doozy interpretations.
Also was English the first language of the people who wrote the script? So many lines and interactions sounded like aliens trying to imitate human speech. Maybe a symptom of crunch.
Ever wanted to be Batman but with crippling decision-making anxiety? Batman: The Telltale Series is here to make you question every choice you make, from how hard you punch a thug to whether or not you should let Alfred take a day off (spoiler: he deserves it).
The game perfectly blends detective work, action, and emotional damage™ as you navigate Gotham’s corruption, deal with a chaotic Joker-in-the-making, and try not to completely ruin Bruce Wayne’s public image. Every decision feels like it could either save the city or turn it into a flaming mess—and honestly, half the time, it will turn into a flaming mess anyway.

This was a lot of fun. As a Batman fan, they really captured his detective skills as well as his quest for justice. The only thing I didn't like was how they portrayed Penguin. He should be more like Danny Devito's character. Selina was great though, it might be the best version I've seen of Catwoman so far.
Playing this with a friend, the game's kinda nice.
Now honestly, this game is to me more of a Batman "Cartoon" rather than a game, yes, you can make choices and there are on-rails game mechanics, but really there isn't an ending where you lose, it's a really casual game.
honestly, the story, the cinematography, the voice acting are frankly amazing.
I admit seeing a more casual Bruce Wayne is really interesting, Catwoman/Selina's character is probably my favourite character in the game, this is probably one of the best adaptation of her.
Cobblepot/Penguin is a really good antagonist,I'm not really sure what to think of the twist with Lady Arkham to be honest and personally I feel Harvey Dent's mental breakdown really ehh, like it could have been because of a more serious reason, but in this game it's because Bruce slept with his crush lol.
I'm currently playing on Classic mode, I honestly haven't tried Shadow Mode yet, but it doesn't seem worth it if it's just a black & white version of the original.
Also I'm playing it through Proton on Linux and it runs perfectly, plus the game is rather well-optimized.
This was my first attempt at a telltale series game and it was great not only is the story of batman excellent the combat and storytelling is great. I would recommend to anyone trying to play a casual game wanting a fun time while not having to commit tons of time and effort while playing.
A solid Telltale adventure game where you play as Batman, tangle with his classic villains, with a decent plot and options that let you choose to be good guy Batman or gritty Frank Miller Batman.
Nice story, hate harvey tho
Absolutely loved this game, it was a masterpiece. I've never been interested in superhero stuff but Batman blew me away. This is defs one of the best telltale games I've ever played, but TWD will always be top! Can't wait to see what season 2 has in store. Recommend!
Overall rating: 9/10
WWBD? Turns out it's not always what you think (or want).
This one just isn't on the level of the best Telltale games. It feels more on-rails throughout, most of the choices aren't compelling, and by the midpoint, the clunky storyline has become thoroughly nonsensical even by comic book standards.
If you're looking for a game that lets you roleplay Batman in a satisfying manner, this isn't it.
At first I was skeptical to a Telltale batman game but honestly think it worked very well, it wasn't afriad to play around with the Batman mythos and gave us some very memorable interpretations of the characters.
The game was truly fantastical, it was story rich and the fact that one can make their own choices and steer the story to their own taste is what makes this game different from others.. would recommend to others since i fully completed it and I enjoyed it at every turns.
Great storytelling as always by Telltale.
Balancing the life of Bruce Wayne and Batman was different and interesting.
Detective work and solving the crimes were fun and not frustrating.
Always felt like my decisions meant something, and some of the bigger choices were tough.
What a captivating story man, i've always loved the way telltale games tell their stories and they certainly knew how to stand out from others. This game is no exception in that regard, they blended bruce wayne and batman in a way even arkham games haven't done. Even if its more of a narrative experience than a full fledged game it does the one thing its supposed to so well that the other things don't even matter, for me atleast. It does lack a bit when it comes to choices and their lasting consequences as i would have liked to see some choices have more of a consequence, leading to a different ending. Still i've very little to complain and i'm glad i got to experience such a enticing narrative.
Do i recommend this game?
Absolutely
Is it worth the price?
Yes, and it can get cheap on sale if u can wait
(Overall Rating- 4.2/5)
I wanted more decisions and less detective parts those parts are just tedious and boring and when I get to decision parts its like they have no weight at all, you just get the feeling telltale just wants to tell their own story instead of letting you build your own. the dialogue is terrible like a kid wrote it and thought it would be cool. just all around boring not fun I like some of the twists but generally it was just a flat experience.
Don't believe the Steam statues that says ''CLOUD SYNC'' up to date. Unlike the second game this one always gives you the message ''Cloud sync error'' when you try to connect it to Telltales cloud server.
I am thoroughly enjoying this story. Even more so than The Wolf Among Us. All the Telltale games I have played are incredibly well written. Poker Night at the Inventory is still hilarious and a classic for me because I get to play poker with the heavy from TF2. Telltale is a different breed. They made me really appreciate visual novels and opened that door for me.
Wish I could give this two thumbs up. Love that the art style is done in a way to replicate a comic book's style. The choose your own ending/adventure is amazing, and I love that you can play Batman to how you wish; either brutal and aggressive, or open and compassionate. Easy to play more than once, to see how certain actions or choices will led to different outcomes.
I've played other telltale games before but I didn't really know what to expect from a batman game, especially since I've never been a huge superhero guy to begin with. I was surprised with how interesting and well-written the story was. It's great game for both batman fans and people who aren't really the biggest fans going in.
Honestly, my only complaint of the game is that there were maybe a couple times where people in the game talked like i did something else from a previous decision I made. An example without spoilers being where I had the choice to be merciful or brutal in an interrogation. I picked merciful, but someone talked like I roughed the guy up. This didn't affect how things played out later so i'll just assume they didn't make a scene for the merciful option or maybe it was just a bug.
I would give the game a 9/10. Great game for both fans of batman and just people looking to play a telltale game. It was good enough for my to buy the sequel, Enemy Within
I really hope we get more such games in the future, even if there is no more Telltale. Great fun.
a great batman story that i/you have control over.
it is different than the usual batman games, and doesn't fully align with the comics but it is unique in it's own way, i loved the overall story but do wish the episodes were a bit longer. If you're the kind of person that likes to sorta relax but still witness action and let the choices you make shape the game play and story then I suggest you go for this but only on sale.
overall though? it's just another Telltale W.
fun and engaging story, although clearly something was meant to happen in the story I made choices to avoid, so instead of it happening directly it still.... kind of happens? i know thats a telltale games thing but the thing so clearly was meant to happen but didn't, so they kinda still go with it as if it did happen...
other than that its a solid batman story
As it started in a classical manner of a chad billionaire dude being the unquestionable playable protagonist who seems to always wear a white coat in questionable circumstances, I was surprised to see exploration of complex and not-as-unjustifiable motivations of the antiheroes and similarities between the Batman and the villains explored a little further. It still has many one-sided perspectives written into the narrative (well, for one it literally is just one perspective - Bruce Wayne's, however you play him [not many possibilities for drastic differences, he's still a good guy in the end anyway]) but if you're willing to think critically the game genuinely does give you material to reflect upon.
Good, but woke like the other telltale games. Wayne enterprises is evil corporation and made fortune off people of gotham, bruce apologizes publicly and wants to make amends to people of gotham. If you can stomach the wokeness its enjoyable.
Telltale Games' Batman: The Telltale Series delivers a fresh take on the Dark Knight, blending the studio's signature narrative-driven gameplay with the morally complex world of Gotham City. Released in 2016, this episodic adventure game provides a unique opportunity to explore the duality of Bruce Wayne and Batman in a way that feels intimate and deeply personal.
Story and Characters:
The game's greatest strength lies in its story. Telltale takes creative liberties with Batman's mythos, offering a bold reimagining of familiar characters. Bruce Wayne's family legacy is tainted by shocking revelations, adding layers of conflict and intrigue. The game's portrayal of classic villains like The Penguin, Harvey Dent, and the Joker offers unexpected twists, keeping even die-hard fans guessing.
The dynamic between Bruce Wayne and his alter ego, Batman, is a central theme. Players are constantly forced to decide whether to approach situations as the suave billionaire or the fearsome vigilante. This duality adds a fresh layer of complexity, allowing players to shape Bruce's relationships and the perception of Batman in Gotham.
Gameplay:
True to Telltale's style, the gameplay focuses on narrative choices and QTE's rather than traditional action mechanics. While some might find the lack of physical combat gameplay disappointing, the detective sequences and dialogue-driven storytelling more than make up for it. Investigating crime scenes as the World's Greatest Detective feels immersive, even if the mechanics are straightforward. The choice system is robust, and your decisions carry weight, influencing the story's direction and your relationships with key characters. The branching narrative ensures high replay value, as the different choices reveal new paths and outcomes.
Visuals and Sound:
The game's cel-shaded art style is a perfect fit for Gotham, evoking the look of a graphic novel. However, the graphical fidelity can feel dated, and occasional bugs or frame drops might pull you out of the experience (I have a 3090 and a Ryzen 7 7800x3d and still had some fps drops). Despite these issues, the moody atmosphere and dramatic lighting effectively capture the essence of Gotham City.
The voice acting is stellar, with Troy Baker delivering a standout performance as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The supporting cast, including Laura Bailey as Selina Kyle and Enn Reitel as Alfred, brings the characters to life with emotional depth. Jared Emerson-Johnson's score is suitably brooding and complements the game's tone beautifully.
Strengths:
1. A gripping, unpredictable story that redefines Batman lore.
2. Meaningful choices that impact the narrative and character relationships.
3. Strong voice acting and a fitting soundtrack.
4. Immersive detective sequences that highlight Batman's intellect.
Weaknesses:
1. Simplistic gameplay may not appeal to those seeking traditional action.
2. Technical issues, including occasional glitches and frame drops.
3. The art style, while unique, lacks polish in certain areas.
Final Verdict:
Batman: The Telltale Series is a must-play for fans of the Dark Knight who value storytelling over action. It provides a compelling narrative that explores the psychological complexity of Bruce Wayne and his alter ego in a way no other Batman game has. While technical flaws and simple gameplay mechanics hold it back from perfection, the game's emotional depth and innovative take on the mythos make it an unforgettable experience.
Rating: 8-10
Batman - The Telltale Series is a solid mid-tier game with glimpses of greatness. The story has a few unexpected moments but is mostly predictable. The gameplay is classic Telltale, with an interesting new feature — investigation and clue linking. A great choice to pass a couple of evenings.
great interactive story... recomended if you like batman and interactive stories
It's cool, just keep in mind most Telltale games are more interactable movies than actual high octane gaming.
This game is great, it has a very interesting story, it shows the backstory of some supervillians from Batman, and it is easy for perfect achievements.
I recommend this game for all platforms: PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch.
My expectations were far exceeed, at least in part.
One thing you've gotta love about the storytelling here is how they made a point of focusing on Bruce Wayne and his double life as the Bat. You don't get to see that in most games, not even most well-regarded Batman media. It's cool. Beyond that, I think it has mostly good writing and some stellar directing in a couple of episodes.
I wish I could say it has no flaws; alas, that's not the case. The first two episodes are remarkable, but the quality does drop after that. It never falls off a cliff, no, but it's substantial enough that you feel it. Still... the cinematic quality of those first two is truly crazy. They blew me away.
That they tried to incorporate the sleuthing aspect of Batman's fieldwork into the narrative is commendable, but I don't understand why this had to be done by forcing players to walk around doing point & click busywork. It completely ruins the flow, even if you know in advance exactly what you're supposed to do. The fact that it's present in nearly every episode in some form or other is maddening.
But its greatest flaw above all others is the unforgivable lack of quality of life features. Forget manuals saves or fast-forwarding. THEY DON'T EVEN LET YOU SKIP LINES. In a game where you might want to replay the same section or episode multiple times to see how everything plays out, this is just insane.
Although I can't say I'm all that surprised. They didn't even bother removing those next on or previously on segments between episodes, which are simply annoying in a full release. The transitions between scenes remains super janky. It's a game that desperately needed a final patch.
At a normal price, my review would've landed firmly in the negative. But considering they're selling this for $15 normally and for $5 on sale, you're getting your money's worth and then some. Either one of those first two episodes would be well worth a $5 price of admission on their own. Getting everything for such a low price on sale, in spite of its flaws and the state it's in, is an absolute steal.
I love this series. I argue the best Telltale has ever done. A great retelling of the world of Batman. Lady Arkham is such a cool new villain and one billion times better than the Arkham Knight just for that basement scene alone, I get chills just thinking about that scene.
Fully QTE on Action, Good Game Good Story and Best Choice from Telltale Series.
Being Batman or Bruce wayne it's will be my best Game in "Choice matter games"
never regret to trying this one!
Good story game with various options as to how you want to execute decisions. 8/10 over all, another great telltale game
8/10 Telltale games are so good, you can just sit back and watch the story like a movie. Then change the story to go the direction you want with your dialogue options. Plus its BATMAN!!
Interesting story, plot twist after plot twist. Definitely recommended if you're into story games!
