Never before has a simulation offered such great level of detail for the fire department vehicles, including and especially the LF24, the fire truck. All of the equipment and functionality have been incorporated. The water tender, turntable ladder and swap body vehicle are also fully functional and available for the virtual fireman. An command vehicle is also included. And of course, equipment can be removed and kept available for later use.
Accidents involving cars and trucks, oil slicks, external and internal fires requiring breathing equipment, these exciting scenarios are randomly generated and promise hours of excitement. The authentic spread of the fires and lifelike, movable fire hoses with realistic handling needed to fight the fire make for an authentic playing experience.
Turn on the emergency lights and sirens and experience one of the world’s most exciting professions – the fire brigade. No previous fire simulation has gone to such lengths to provide such depth and realism.

Notruf 112 - Emergency Call 112 aims to offer players an immersive experience in the intense world of emergency response, but unfortunately, it falls short in many areas. Although the concept itself is promising, aiming to realistically portray the life-saving work of firefighters, paramedics, and police, the game’s execution reveals numerous technical and gameplay issues that dampen the overall experience.
Firstly, the graphics feel outdated, which is immediately noticeable and disappointing given the potential of a simulation game to draw players into a realistic environment. Character animations are rigid, with an awkward stiffness that makes them seem unnatural and occasionally comical, which detracts from immersion. The textures and lighting lack depth, further weakening the sense of realism that a game focused on emergency scenarios should deliver. Instead of creating a convincing and intense atmosphere, the visuals are subpar and fail to fully convey the gravity and urgency of emergency situations.
One of the most noticeable issues, especially for a game involving emergency vehicle control, is the vehicle mechanics and AI behavior. When driving an emergency vehicle, such as an ambulance or fire truck, the response of other civilian vehicles on the road is quite unusual and frustratingly unrealistic. Civilian vehicles in both directions abruptly stop in their lanes and activate their hazard lights, including the oncoming traffic lane. This reaction is not only exaggerated but also problematic, as it often creates obstacles rather than a clear path. In real life, vehicles would typically pull to the side of the road, making room for emergency responders to pass swiftly. However, in Notruf 112, these cars simply halt without moving aside, sometimes even blocking access to an emergency location. This lack of realistic AI behavior for traffic makes the gameplay feel unrefined and frustrating.
The mechanics of controlling the vehicles themselves are also clunky and less responsive than they should be. Emergency vehicles can be difficult to maneuver in high-stress situations, and the interface lacks the intuitive feel needed for a game centered on urgent, time-sensitive actions. Adding to the frustration, the emergency controls and sirens feel awkward to use, breaking up the flow of gameplay.
When it comes to the gameplay structure itself, the missions quickly become repetitive, which significantly affects the long-term engagement of the game. While the real-life field of emergency response is complex, with countless types of scenarios and unpredictable events, the game fails to capture this. After a few missions, the tasks become monotonous, with limited variety in challenges, making it feel more like a series of checklists than a dynamic experience. For a simulation game, the lack of depth in mission design is a major flaw, as it limits the replayability and emotional impact of each response.
Adding to the issues is the lag and poor optimization. There are frequent frame drops, particularly during high-stress moments when multiple units are on the move. The lag affects gameplay severely, as it often leads to delayed or missed commands, which is particularly frustrating in a game that’s supposed to simulate real-time decision-making. When ordering units or managing resources, the lag makes it challenging to execute tasks efficiently. This technical shortfall detracts from the overall experience and breaks the immersion that a simulation game relies on so heavily.
Furthermore, the control layout and UI are clumsy, making it hard to execute tasks smoothly. The UI feels unintuitive, especially when switching between tasks or units, which is essential in emergency scenarios. The clunky interface makes it difficult to prioritize actions, a vital skill for any emergency dispatcher or responder. Improving the ease of access to these commands and streamlining the controls would make the gameplay far more engaging and realistic.
Loading times are also unusually long, which disrupts the pace of gameplay and leaves players waiting at key moments. These lengthy loading screens interrupt the tension and urgency that the game is supposed to build. Coupled with the limited camera angles and lack of dynamic views, navigating through tasks becomes an ordeal, which further pulls the player away from the experience.
In conclusion, while Notruf 112 - Emergency Call 112 has an admirable concept, its numerous technical limitations, clunky controls, and repetitive missions hold it back. The game’s AI and mechanics need considerable improvement to meet the expectations of players looking for a true-to-life emergency response experience. If the developers address these issues in future updates, the game has the potential to be a much more polished and engaging simulation. As it stands, however, it feels more like an early-access title than a finished product.
