Just adding random items to an screen doesn't make a good RPGMaker game. This is the usual shovelware you can get from this publisher.
RPG Maker strikes again!
Finding Hope is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction.
This is another painfully generic asset flip from Andorlea/whatever other accounts they use (unclear why they need so many accounts to keep pushing the same RPG Maker asset flips). There's supposed to be some lighthearted tongue in cheek story, but it's just the usual high school fanfic trash coupled with the usual bad map design, and other general lazy filling out of the RPG Maker templates, putting this once more towards the bottom of the pile when it comes to RPG Maker garbage.
As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development.
Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers.
You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Finding Hope has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for collecting 500 gold (trivial to do), yet only around 2 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show only 2 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who weren't even playing the Trading cards. Players will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
Gamers who want a good retro JRPG experience would be better off playing the originals, like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean or Chrono Trigger. Leave this asset flip in the trash pile where it belongs.
Not bad, has funny dialogue but needs more polishing.
Very unpredictable story. There is also a downside that no list of quests and side-quest (I almost forgot some of the side quest)
I like sunshine's ghost art, pretty cute.
Would be great to have more achievements.

Fun and enjoyable little game. It doesn't take long to get all the achievements.
It's a cutesy little rpgmaker game. Not outstanding, but not a huge disappointment either. I have played some of these that were unplayable and this is a sight better than some of them. I got 18 hours of entertainment out of this game so in my mind well worth what they are asking out of it. Having said that the game is a far cry from perfect, don't expect AAA quality out of it you will be disappointed. All in all I'd give it a 6 out of 10. I enjoyed it.

I cant say the graphics are well presented...sure the characters are less original then the game beyond magic!
Which had some originality but was presented to be played with charm and certainty!
It may be crunchy convenient to most increasingly players but im not one of them!
The music is what makes this game okay in consumption standards!

Its not worth the standalone price,and the game is just mimicking you to start a trolley factory of misery

Well... this is a game that is not taking itself too seriously. Shin appears to be the descendant of a man who... well, got greedy, infiltrated a sacred place, drank the all-powerful water of the gods, became an evil deity, before Gaia kicked his backside and cursed him to fall in love with a woman then watch her die... And also cursed his entire bloodline to suffer the same fate.
This seems to be the only reason off the top of my head as to why he is such a... jackass to everyone. Especially Dawn, who he has appeared to have seen before and realized he might... like her... Oh and Dawn needs his help to go through the Enchanted Forest to find an Oracle... which would be easier, if she didn't fall asleep every few moments...
So this game is a bit of a comedy, so be forewarned. Also, with how cheap it is... just consider it a time-killer.
I wonder if anyone else played this game and what the dev offered for a positive review?
The mapping is atrocious. Houses are 10 times bigger from the inside and almost empty or unkind. Lots of labyrinth-like paths that took me thrice as long to get through. I was able to run up walls but got stuck when I approached things that shouldn't block me. When there were cut scenes I got ported to an area that doesn't even look like my surroundings and people just decided to disappear after talking to me - because walking away is too mainstream.
Fights don't seem that important but I am really glad about it. There is no combat/skill/character balancing. Skills need too much MP (400 of 800 e.g.) but almost all fights are against one mob which is mostly a one-rounder. If there were more they wiped me pretty fast because enemies do way too much damage (sometimes even onehits).
I couldn't find a variety of weapons or armor but plenty of healing items instead. Most of them seem useless and overpriced tho.
Last but not least it was the story that disappointed me. Dialogues seem forced, unnatural and I am still looking for the humorous parts.
At one point the characters started to talk about stuff they never mentioned before which spoilered and confused me. After playing some more another conversation explained what happened back there. Some things happen/are mentioned way too early in the game.
The only parts of madness and crazy I found was me playing this.
Simply put, this game is nice. The humorous undertone makes up for the aweful amount of time you spend walking through unnecessarily spacious rooms with furnishing that often seems a bit random. The heroes are loveable too and have some character developement. The story - even though trying to be funny a bit too hard - is mostly well done. Considering that on the same day I purchased the game for 30 Cents I was charged more than 4€ for a horrible tasting coffee, Finding Hope was much cheaper and more fun.
good game.. The story so cute and funny
I earned a 90% off coupon for this so it was cheap, the only good thing about the game. It has too much text, I basically hit enter a 1000 times. Nothing was fun, I coudln't play more than 11 minutes of the game before I was bored.
Not a bad game. One thing that's immediately clear is that an editor really should have been brought in to polish the writing, as it feels somewhat rough. Having fun so far though! The music is fun too!

Finding Hope is a nice little game. You can tell a lot of genuine work went into it. The story is pretty linear with a handful of side quests but the story is nice and the dialouge gets to the point with nice humorous undertones. The music is great and I love the original artwork.
My only complaint is that the white text is sometimes hard to read when its on top of the characters and other artwork.
I very much enjoyed this game and I will be playing the sequel Beyond Magic.
Interesting game at an affordable price, a little different from other games of it's kind. There are some funny moments, the battle system is similar to other games of it's kind(rpg maker, Jrpg games), I found it not boring.
Try it, if not found interesting make use of steam refund( like I did with No Man's Sky).
Will update as I progress more with the game.
