In Dead Space™ 2, you join Isaac Clarke, the Systems Engineer from Dead Space, as he wakes up three years after the horrific events on the USG Ishimura. The Ishimura was a Planetcracker-class starship besieged by grotesque reanimations of its dead crew, known as “Necromorphs.”
After unearthing a strange artifact known as the Marker, Isaac finds himself on the Sprawl, a giant space station in orbit around Saturn. Unable to remember how he got here and plagued with demented visions of his dead girlfriend Nicole, he must survive another nightmarish outbreak of Necromorphs as he fights his way towards an answer he hopes will end all the chaos.
Key Features:
- Tear through space with full 360 degree movement.
- Wield a set of devastating tools to bring the terror to space. Impale Necromorphs into the walls with the Javelin, use improved telekinesis to turn limbs into deadly weapons, plant powerful dismembering trip mines, or create a hull-breach to suck a group of monsters out into space.
- Fire up Isaac’s suit boosters to rocket around in zero gravity like never before. Explore the depths of the Sprawl and encounter new weightless combat and physics-based puzzles with full 360⁰ movement.

Graphics quality: 10/10 The game play: 9/10 I recommend it, its a fun game.
Like returning from space into a warm, but sharp necromorphic embrace.
Takes everything from the original and improves on it vastly. More linear than I originally remember it back on the Xbox 360, but every moment counts and still a joy from beginning to end.
All weapons feel purposeful, puzzles are light but break up the action nicely, and enemy diversity keeps things interesting. Still holds up today and would love a remake!
How does EA ruin everything they touch? This was a great game and EA can get fucked for ruining it. I cannot stress this enough, fuck EA.
While I would recommend this game, I would only recommend it if you played the Deadspace 1 Remake. Many of the reviews say DS2 is superior, but I do not find that to be true. The DS1 Remake is far superior. I snagged this on a steep discount at the same time as DS3, which I'll play next, but only because the narrative ends with the trilogy and I'd love to see how they wrap up the story.
not as aesthetically or atmospherically consistent as the first game but it bumps up set piece variety and action as a result, while still being horror-oriented. fire ass game.
A very fun sequel. It may be a bit old now, but it ran well and was still enjoyable. I'm looking forward to playing the 3rd game now.
This sequel competes directly with the first game. The story is great, and the game-play feels dialed in. Dead Space 3 definitely does not play like the first two, and the second in the series just might be my favorite. The environments are really well thought out and the attention to detail is not missed on me!
Still holds up after 13 years! Great set pieces, great story, and the zero-G sections are still out of this world. Highly Recommended - 9/10
Its a great game all around, the story is good, the how the weapons act are realistic. Can't wait to play the third.
While no game is perfect, this one comes the closest out of all the games I’ve played. I’ve played it over a dozen times in the past decade, and it’s still beautiful. If I had to nitpick, it would be that the plasma cutter outshines the other weapons, requiring multiple playthroughs to fully experience other weapons in game. Other than that, it's 10/10 for me.
great ambience, a little flashy action oriented than the first one, but a great entry.
I'm about 2/3 of the way through and this feels like a worthy sequel. I will say that this game doesn't feel like it does horror as well as the first game (possibly just because everything was new then, where I know what to expect now). Gameplay feels the same with great improvements to the previously janky zero gravity sections. The story is interesting, however I much preferred the intro and premise of the first game to this. It feels like Dead Space 2 hits the ground running from the intro and immedietly forces you into the kind of gameplay you'd experience mid-game in Dead Space 1. And from that point, it keeps the pace up and tends to focus a bit more on action set pieces than horror set pieces.
Played through Dead Space 1 and 2 dozens of times. Played Dead Space 3 once. Played Dead Space remake once.
The originals are great. The remake would be fine without the subtle changes but Dead Space 1 and 2 are near perfect games imo.
EA lost the plot back then with all the early live service nonsense and their "everything has to be a multi-player game" concept before we called them GAAS games as a service or live service games.
In Dead Space 2 it directly sequels Dead Space 1, has a slightly different equipment system in regards to armor and weapons. Multiple sets of armor at different levels and inventory amount multiple different versions of each gun and a new gun.
The story is spot on with Dead Space 2 and probably the best story of the 3. Isaac still looks like Isaac in Dead Space 2 unlike the remake of 1 and the other characters are great looking. A whole new cast other than Isaac and one (no spoilers) from the original game.
Also since this is pre-demake the character models still look good in 1 and 2 so if you like Dead Space at all or survival horror-esque and sci-fi games, give it a try.
High recommend Dead Space original over remake for your first playthrough, its super cheap, still has graphics that stand up today and none of the modern minor edits that the same people make to every franchise they get their hands on in entertainment. If you like them a bunch try the remake but there really isn't a need to try Dead Space 3 unless you just gotta see why it was so subpar.
Can't believe how good this game is all these years later. You can even run it maxed out at 4K with a potato PC like me. (ancient AMD 8350 CPU) I really hope EA lets Motive Studio continue remaking these games because the remake of the first Dead Space was an absolute 10/10 and I'd love to play this game in a remade, modernized form. Having remakes of the entire trilogy would have me jacked to the tits. But even in it's current condition this game rocks.
This is a worthy sequel! Everything in Dead Space 2 is just like good old times but the stakes are much higher. In the first Dead Space you had to fight an entire Ship Crew of Necromorphs but now its an entire City. They updated the designs of the Characters while keeping the same artstyle for the rest of the game. Aaah I just finished it a couple of hours ago and maaaan this game is a must have for all of you Dead Space Fans, a certified classic!
Simply amazing, from start to end, the game isn't just about the horror but also about the action unlike the first game who was more shifted towards horror. A must if you played the first game and by far the best game in the franchise.
There isn't much to say, This game is a masterpiece, RE4 is one of my favorite games of all time and Dead Space 2 is basically RE4 in space in all the good ways.
One of the most engaging games that I have played. I have played through this game multiple times and find myself consistently coming back to it for a play-through, whether on Xbox or Steam. Great improvements from the first Dead Space and a one of a kind play style that you don't see much in the common formulaic games that are coming out,
"DEAD SPACE 2" was such a stunning follow-up to its prequel. Most people consider it the best game in the franchise, but I can't agree until I replay the third part. Nevertheless, I faced some texture flickering issues in certain instances, which many players noted were caused by modern PCs, the game had a great story, an immersive horror atmosphere, and much smoother gameplay overall. I can't wait to dive into another part of Isaac's journey and see the grand finale of his story.
This is a terrific sequel in its story. In terms of its gameplay I don't think it's changed that much fundamentally. Although there are cutscenes now, and I feel mixed on them. They are incredibly well made, but I feel they take you out of the action too much as compared to how the original would handle it. I also feel that this game is a lot more bombastic than tense and horrifying. I don't think there was once in this game that I felt scared. But the original made me shit bricks. The atmosphere isn't quite there in this one. The ishimura was such a great location to host spine chilling atmosphere. This game gets close to that in maybe one segment that i don't wanna spoil.
I do love this game. You get a lot more expanded on with Isaac and his character arc. He didn't have a great deal of one in the original, but here it's the main focus, other than the set pieces, QTEs and non-stop action.
I prefer the original a lot more, but this is a worthy sequel and well worth your money.
I decided to try out Dead Space after hearing that Dead Space 1 has some of the best sound design in a horror game. I was supposed to play 1 first, but went the cheaper route and bought this one instead. For some reason I wasn't really expecting it to be a game I'd really get into that much so I was pleasantly surprised to find out how enjoyable this game is off the bat. I'm in love with the game design ( the necromorphs kinda remind me of something out of Resident Evil ) the chapters are engaging, however, combat is really intense and fast paced so it can be frustratingly difficult, there's a drastic spike in difficulty as you go on, so this game is a lot more challenging than I expected it to be and I do get pretty stressed when I can't stop dying ( with hordes of enemies coming at you at once and if you don't kill them quick enough you're dead, strategy is extremely important in this game ) but it feels so accomplishing to finally beat an area I've been stuck on for a while.
Lastly the atmosphere just blows me away.. I absolutely love the creepy space aesthetic, just such awesome creativity put into this game, similar to Alien Isolation, that game just has an unbeatable atmosphere. I have to admit some aspects of the game I found confusing at first such as certain puzzles or how upgrading guns work etc but it's not to the point where it's Amnesia where I can't progress through the game because the puzzles in that game were just so damn confusing . it's just over all a really, really good game and judging by how much i'm enjoying this game I have no doubts that Dead Space 1 will not disappoint as well!
I greatly recommend if you're into action/horror :)
game does not run on anything above a ten core processor. tried to refund it since the game would crash on launch. steam would not refund the game even though I had zero hours on it. I had to end up finding a third party mod in order to get it working. This game has been on steam for forever and they still have not made a patch fixing this very wide spread problem. Just based on that I have to give the game a do not buy.
Visceral game studios greatest creation. This game has always managed to scare the crap out of me every playthrough. Especially on Zealot. 2011 graphics still hold up in 2024 amazingly with their lighting, sounds, and overall atmosphere. The game is so cheap now there's no excuse to not pick it up. (Don't crap your pants though, the game will definitely make you jump.
The game plays so well on the steam deck, solid 90fps and the holds up beautifully to this day.
One of the best game of all time, and of course all series. I played ▶️ many years ago
Veri spooki
Great sequel to the first one, fun and replayable even after all these years. There's some really good attention to detail.
I absolutely hate horror games.... with that said. This was the best one I played and I can say I enjoyed the weapon creation options in the game to give it more depth play with headphones or surround sound you will be shitting bricks from all the creepy crawlys in this one.
Perfect sequel, nothing else to say. There are almost no Survival Horrors like this anymore.
It still plays nice even in 2024, and the story is good, although slow at the start.
came back to this game after a long break and now i remember why i quit. stasis doesnt work in this game. i just die to blue enemies. same speed, full damage. dont waste your money and enjoy the first game
A worthy followup to the original, ramping up the intensity, action, and storytelling.
+++ INSANE atmosphere and presentation
++ (Still) amazing visuals (ReShade Integrated Graphics)
++ Amazing sound
++ Very good gameplay
++ Very unique and memorable levels
+ Unique damage system
+ Interesting story
* Need some fixes (60FPS, mouse fix)
- Audio bugs in some cutscenes
- Some noises were WAY too loud
I bought this on a whim for 4 bucks, because I loved the Dead Space Remake. This game is quite similar, especially the insane atmosphere and presentation all around. I used the ReShade Integrated Graphics Mod, which enhances the graphics a bit, but the overall visuals are still amazing for the game's age. The soundscape is amazing as well, the immersion this creates is at the same level as the Dead Space Remake, which is the highest praise I can give. The gameplay is very good as well, it's responsive and quick and the unique damage system makes combat very fun. Travelling the Sprawl was a unique experience, visiting "normal" locations twisted by horror was extremely memorable. Returning to the Ishimura was very cool as well. The story is a continuation from the first game and was pretty interesting, there was a weird fixation on eyes though...
I used the following guide for some fixes, it was pretty easy: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2879287654
The negatives are exclusively technical: Audio bugs in some cutscenes, which were annoying. Plus some noises were WAY too loud! I know: loud = scary, but the final fight especially was an awful affair because of this and almost blew my ears out.
definitely recommended worth the money and your time , its the best game in dead space series i would like to play if it ever gets a remake of dead space 2.
Very good game if you download a raw mouse input mod and remove the automatic dlc that gives you free weapons.
Just as awesome as I remember it. I recently played the remastered version of Dead Space and the sequel being on sale it was a no brainer to get. I love this franchise, except for the 3rd one.
I have played the remake of the Dead Space and enjoyed, but this one takes the series to a whole new level. it's clear that the development team has made some improvements to the game while still using the same core mechanics. the gameplay is even more intense and terrifying than before i believe.
If you're a fan of survival-horror games, this game is a "must-play".
Great sound design, great story beats, good writing of characters.
10/10 would return to Titan for more nerophi... necromorph hunting.
Great sequel with the same jumpscares, environment and tension between the sections of the gameplay, making use of the same weapons, items and upgrades system (which wasn't bad before).
Storywise it's a nice continuation and development for our engineer Clarke and his traumatizing past.
Very spooky spacezombie killing game, you can kill them but they're still scary because they can kill you too due to the horrible controls. Very good atmosphere despite being dated graphically, story is kinda weird, characters are kinda weird, facial expressions are so funny when they're not supposed to be. I'm turning them into chunks or they're turning me into chunks 8/10 squelching sounds
Not as good as the first one, but the first 9-10 chapters are arguably just as good. Game kinda goes downhill from there, the last couple chapters are super tedious feeling and there's not too much story reward on the side outside of the main story conclusion, which is pretty lackluster imo. Not a fan of the chapters where you return to the Isihmura, it feels kinda lame to have a cameo like that from the first game for a couple chapters when there's an entire space station to see. Re-use something from the first one rather than show us something new. But overall a good game, enjoyable, scary, although there are some really cheap jump scares. 8/10.
Fantastic survival horror game. Lives up to the greatness of the first one. Here's hoping EA remakes this masterpiece!
This was an incredible horror survival game, I will say dead space remake better in a lot of ways.
This game doesn't really get scary till like chapter 4 or 5 for me but after that I was shitting my pants. I can't really explain why though, I guess I got more into it from then on. The screeching banchee was by far the least scary part of the game though.
There are some bugs in the game and a little visual glitch at the last portion of the game.
The combat is the same from dead space remake however I felt some guns were a little weaker.
I give it a solid 8.5/10. Not much to say really its a good horror game.
What an incredible follow up to the first game so far.
I bought this and the third game on sale and have been flying through this one. I played the remake for the first game on PS5 which got me hooked on the series as a whole.
I'm running Windows 11 as well and have not had any launch issues with this game.
All the fun of dead space 1 with nearly none of the jank.
Stalkers actually make me tweak like a schizo
10/10 literally playable
Very fun scary horror game in space :D. Story line is pretty good though. Jumpscares kinda get you out of nowhere.
As much as I like Dead Space 2, it gets a 9/10 for me because of the lack of replay value. In my opinion games that have focus on single player campaigns that also include replay ability like for example bioshock infinite clash in the clouds and dishonored's dunwall city trials are amazing in my opinion. Its just really boring for me to replay the campaign multiple times and the added difficulty levels does not make any better ( I don't really like to torture myself with brutal difficulties ), the playing the campaign once or twice is alright but more than that and it just bores me to death.
If the dead space series had a replay ability like what was mentioned, that would have been good. I acknowledge that it has a multiplayer component ( which got shut down ) even though its not my thing. This game is still good I really enjoy shooting, impaling and stomping Necromorphs and sometimes random human beings in the area, the story is meaningful and great as well. I'd still recommend this game but not really worth investing that many hours into it after some time.
Personally my favorite and in my opinion the best dead space game out of the main trilogy. Enviorments, weapons, sound design, and voice acting are top notch!
Plays great on the steam deck. Under 'Steam Deck Compatibility' it's noted that an active internet connection is required for single player but I played it in offline mode during two flights without issues
I bought this after finishing the remake of the original. I played this from start to end. It was fantastic, so I may get the third game to have completed the entire trilogy, although I hear its meh at best.
