In Dead Space™ 2, you join Isaac Clarke, the Systems Engineer from Dead Space, as he wakes up three years after the horrific events on the USG Ishimura. The Ishimura was a Planetcracker-class starship besieged by grotesque reanimations of its dead crew, known as “Necromorphs.”
After unearthing a strange artifact known as the Marker, Isaac finds himself on the Sprawl, a giant space station in orbit around Saturn. Unable to remember how he got here and plagued with demented visions of his dead girlfriend Nicole, he must survive another nightmarish outbreak of Necromorphs as he fights his way towards an answer he hopes will end all the chaos.

Key Features:
- Tear through space with full 360 degree movement.
- Wield a set of devastating tools to bring the terror to space. Impale Necromorphs into the walls with the Javelin, use improved telekinesis to turn limbs into deadly weapons, plant powerful dismembering trip mines, or create a hull-breach to suck a group of monsters out into space.
- Fire up Isaac’s suit boosters to rocket around in zero gravity like never before. Explore the depths of the Sprawl and encounter new weightless combat and physics-based puzzles with full 360⁰ movement.

The monsters are much scarier and much more aggressive than in the first one, in my opinion. And I started out with the remake of Dead Space 1. I liked the Dead Space 1 remake better....but that's just me. You also have to consider that the remake of 1 came along much later than Dead Space 2. So, better controls, better graphics, more "hidden" item placement. Love both these games though and look forward to moving into the end of this trilogy.
Terrifying game. Still holds up 10+ years later. I was kind of surprised. I don't have a GPU and it still played as good as on console. If you've never played any of these games I'd recommend playing them in order but you could jump in here and not be to lost.
i love how the plasma cutter (1st weapon in the game) is literally the most op weapon in all the dead space entry
I loved, loved, loved this game! The necromorphs in the last couple of chapters were such a pain to deal with but it's to be expected. lmao
This a must play. A great successor to the first even if we do not get a DS2Remake. But be cautious, when you purchase this you will get a CD key with it that allows limited installs. The only way around is using a NOCD crack which is what I’m using now to play. Just here to give you a heads up, EA will do nothing to assist you if you go past your installation limit. Also it’s great on the Steam Deck which is how I’m playing it now. Do yourself the favor and get it even more so if on sale.
I recently finished the Dead Space Remake and wanted to give 2 and 3 a go too. Dead Space 2 is way more action heavy than I remember, and much shorter. Credits rolled after not even 7 hours. Still a good game and it holds up in parts.
action horror masterpiece if u like tension and survival play this game i recommend playing it on survivalist or zealot for ur first time
Having only played Dead Space 1 Remake before, this game didn't ad anything new gameplay wise.
Other than that nice
7/10
Between this and the first, this game feels more relaxed. Less danger from enemies but it is still a great game that I would recommend.
A lot harder than the first one but also a lot more to it and feels very rewarding once you beat it
The game could have been great but the Quick Time Events are nearly impossible to beat on a modern machine. It was designed to run at 30 fps and clearly uses the frames as a measure of time. I cant slow my monitor below 60 fps. I tries the nvidia control panel to limit to a max of 30 fps but I could not beat the final QTE. I feel let down by the game.
Not as good as the first one and I hope they'll remake it but
fun.
A masterpiece in every signal aspect of the word, After all these years it still holds up to the DEAD SPACE name. Would highly recommend to anyone who's a fan of Survival Shooters/Mixed horror. MAKE US WHOLE AGAIN,
An older game, but with a riveting story line and expansive lore with fun combat/gameplay. Good surround sound will help you get the most out of the experience, as the ambient sound and noises in the vents are half of what make it creepy.
10/10
The characters' premise fits my needs of perspective.
This might not mean anything, and I apologize if this isn't misleading.
I don't leave bad reviews, all efforts are a perfect score.
Love the game, beat it about 10+ times. Only downside would be the non achievement for hardcore mode. EA sucks donkey balls and also doesn't allow you to receive the foam finger when you do complete hard-core mode. I had to download another save from a guy who had the foam finger, this community is truly amazing. Definitely worth the buy.
This game is an incredible successor!
After playing the first one (remake) I had to play the next one and I have become in love with this series. After this I definitely play the 3rd part.
If you want to play the game however and you have a newer machine with more then 8 cores (includes e-cores aswell), you have to download an upgrade by one of the holy programmers in the internet. EA is not going to repair this problem i think... I am not a fan of EA but they are only the publishers not the devs. They have to decide, I mean it is really annoying that modders and programmers apart of them have to fix that... thx to them anyway, luv you coders :D
The game itself and the story are an eyecatcher. I do not care about the graphics, they are old, i know but for me the story and the gameplay are important and it felt so great!
(Isaac + Ellie <3 dreamteam)
Thx to the devs for this successor! Well done!
Can’t lie…this is like one of my favorite games of all times, no joke this games is just perfect and it kinda sucks we won’t be getting a remake of this.
Loved it back than and i loved the QOL additions they took from 2 to Remake 1. Gameplays great, stories great, literally a mona lisa of horror games
Just sucks that the pc version never got the frikkin console exclusive craps and updates, doesn’t even include the DLC story too :((
Played this back on launch on the PS3 and loved it. Playing it again now on PC and loving it even more. It still REALLY holds up well.
Love the series but holy shit the controls are god awful. I beat this back on release(Playstation) on Hardcore. Now I don't want to touch it with these controls. Camera is so sensitive without the ability to adjust it, and if I adjust mouse sensitivity, then aiming is fucked. The hanging sequence with the Brute was awful too. I'm using a mouse why do I feel like I'm aiming with a joystick coated in honey or tapping the arrow keys.. I even plugged my controller in, still awful. I don't really even want to play it anymore. Get it on console or wait for a remake.
Possibly better than the first game in every way, and Dead Space is a masterpiece. A must-play for survival horror fans.
An amazing and well put-together game, Great adventure and story line!
Added more great things that built the first dead space and improved. New enemies, more lore, more weapons and armors. And the fear element was there from start to finish. Going back to ishimura beat the ptsd back into me.
How is it that I can't get this game to launch at all, but I can get the first game to run just fine? I absolutely adore this game, and I wish I could figure out why it wont work. Don't buy if you have a +10th gen processor or any new gen graphics cards in your pc. EA needs to get their sh*t together.
not as great as the first one def not as scary feel way more safe but still pretty great. i think the game gets better the further you pogress and so does the story. death scenes allot better though love seing myself get cut into bits and hope they remake this one aswell. also great ptsd gaming.
The first dead space was and an amazing game and had a lot of great elements too it, this just adds to the first game and i would recommend to play this if you liked the first one
It is a fun game. LOL got scared more by the steam(Fire sprinklers) than the necromorph jumpscare's.
Awesome game. Might be easier with a controller or better keyboard for gaming than a laptop's, but the game itself is one of the best ever made regardless of my own difficulties with playing it on a laptop.
Great horror sci fi action and story telling
solid game. great continuation from the first and i really enjoyed my time with it. in my opinion the remake of the first game reigns superior, though. if this one ever gets a remake in the same way i’ll be one of the first in line to buy it.
Regrettably, as of February 6th, 2025, I must strongly advise against purchasing or if thinking about playing Dead Space 2 on a Windows 11 system with an Intel ARC A770 GPU. The game is currently completely unplayable, failing to launch at all. Therefore, I urge you to avoid wasting your hard earned money until EA releases a much-needed patch to address these critical compatibility problems. Don't waste your time and frustration waiting for a fix.
Very good game. Very challenging and very unique gameplay. Very good game. Very good story which makes you feel very much for the characters, namely Isaac and Ellie. Very good game. Probably in my top 5 games of all time, very good and very scary game! Very good game. P.S EA lock in and give us an even verier gooder game, with a dead space 2 remake and/or a very good ds4!!!
The game was a 8/10. There was pros and cons to this game, At first i had a hard time with the controls cuz how old the game is but the game play still hold up to it... But i don't like how the game was very short . Other then that i recommend IF your a fan of Deadspace. I would love to see this game have a Reamke! so plsss dooo .
This might be my longest purchase-to-play game. I didn't realise that I never actually got to the point of playing Dead Space 2 and it had been sat idle in my library for about 10 years. This game was really good fun. I enjoyed the story and the combat. The atmosphere and moments where they absolutely play on your fears and what happened in Dead Space was great. Ran fantastic on the Steam Deck. Recommended.
Edit: I played this 100% on Steam Deck. I turned off vsync to get 60fps (otherwise it locks to 30fps). The only thing going against the game is lack of Steam Cloud support, so I couldn't play my save anywhere but the Steam Deck.
Playing this one directly after the new Remake of the first game hits hard. The tie-ins between both titles are extremely satisfying, and whats more intriguing is the fact that this game still holds up. It looks great, plays well, and manages to exceed expectations just like the first one. The settings in this story however are much more varied than the first, and the atmospheres all blend really well with one another between the different chapters. Now with added customization, interesting locations, deeper character lore and some hard hitting new weapons. Also, the enemy variety is really intriguing, with some enemies making some of the scariest audio cues that I have ever heard in gaming. Honestly, it's such a good experience, especially when played in tandem with the new remake. I might go out and say that I enjoy this title even more than the first due to how seasoned the main character feels after putting up with the horrors in the first title.
This game maintains a lot of the same formula that made the original great, but it is a rough experience on modern hardware. It's possible that I am being overly critical, as I played this immediately after the 2023 remake of Dead Space, but Dead Space 2 is rough even compared to the PC port of the original 2008 release of the first title in the series.
While it is by no means unplayable, be prepared for some pretty ridiculous physics bugs if you try to play it at a high framerate. Windmilling corpses, endless bouncy-ball physics, and utter failures of gravity wait to distract you from the game's ambience. What should have been one of the game's best setpieces was ruined for me by the fact that I couldn't tell what was meant to be a scary noise and what was just some bit of loose environment doing the 240hz jig in a room nearby.
That said, it unfolds a bit more of the Marker story in a fun enough way. Gameplay is reliably good, if quite a bit more forgiving than DS1 - on "Normal" difficulty in both playthroughs, I found myself frequently out of inventory space due to a massive amount of healing items I never needed to use.
This isn't a bad game, but it isn't a good one compared to its predecessor. If you need to know the next chapter in Isaac's story, get this one on sale.
I absolutely adore Dead Space 2. It is one of my favourite games of all time and I have nearly 200 hours on it across different platforms. Near perfect Action Horror, through and through.
However as of 02/02/25 I cannot recommend this game to anyone with Windows 11 and/or newer hardware like Intel i9 CPU's (10+ cores is a MAJOR ISSUE) or Nvidia 40 series GPU's, as it absolutely refuses to run longer than 20 minutes without either soft or hardlocking your PC, and that's even if you can get it to boot in the first place. I have spent many hours trying numerous combinations of fixes for things such as framerate, controls, graphical errors, DLC removal, Inaccessible bonus rooms and so... SO MUCH more, to absolutely no avail.
Please do not waste your time with this version of the game until EA pull their thumb out of their bunghole and fix their game.
EDIT: 12 hours after I wrote this review, I managed to stabilise DS2 enough to play it for an hour without any crashes.
If you do attempt to get this game working on a PC with more than 10 CPU cores, you must download Windows ADK Compatibility Manager and create your own database fix that tricks your PC into thinking it has less cores than it actually does. Then, you must lock your all software and hardware to run at 60fps and turn off V-SYNC. I'd recommend replacing your EXE with v1.0 to remove the DLC packs and manually replacing/renaming the DATA files in order to unlock the previously inaccessible Conduit Rooms.
So with a bit of work, you can get this game working. But there is still no Severed DLC solution so EA can suck my nuts, the negative review stays.
I actually beat the game several times on my Xbox (probably clocking in over 100 hours), got it here on steam for the free DLCs. If anyone's here after beating Dead Space 2023, a large reason why that game was so freaking good is that it basically yoinked a bunch of game play innovations that Dead Space 2 did. This game did not age one bit, if it did I wouldn't had purchased it again.
Now, with that being said, it still would be really cool if EA made a remake for 2 and 3 :)
Fun game although it leans a little more into action rather than horror like Dead Space 1. There are some frustrating sections where you will have no idea how to solve a puzzle, or get unfairly ambushed by necromorphs from multiple directions making for some trial and error gameplay at times. Overall DS2 is pretty good but doesn't reach the highs of the 1st for me.
actual playtime closer to 12, I just idle my games a lot. Solid game, worth grabbing on sale and playing as long as you keep in mind the age.
The best horror-actions game I can think of!
This sequel follows a similar evolution from its predecessor as Alien (1979) to Aliens (1986). It Leaps into the actions straight away ditching the slow build up of the first, feeding you with fascinating world & story lore though exposition and set pieces, this continues all the way through. The game has a great progression system allowing for the feeling of growing strength but also knowing threats still lurk around any corner. Dead Space 2 tackles the horror game-play with some of the resource management of the first but perfectly in-fusing it with a new fast-pace DNA, evolving into modern game mechanics with the best limbs of first still hanging on. Both you & Issac are more prepared but haunted and vulnerable.
Brilliant Sequel. Wonder if they will remake this one day. Loving the Lore, Interesting new enemies and characters. On to Dead Space 3
Mejor puto juego de terror de la historia.
Comprálo, es buena inversión.
Extra: el juego está tan bien optimizado que lo pones todo al mínimo y te corre hasta en una patata y se sigue viendo bien.
Dead Space 2 is everything I wanted from Dead Space 1, but beyond that, it is a great example of how to correctly do a sequel. Not only is it bigger, but it is better than the first game, all without sacrificing what made the first one so popular, and good in the first place.
The story is more fascinating, the characters are more memorable, the guns are more varied and fun, the gameplay is no longer a repetative loop, but instead linear, environments are more curated and well-designed, audio design is better, combat is harder as to be more challenge, but still not frustrating, jumpscares are more effective due to better pacing and build-up, et cetera, et cetera.
My only criticism might be that I am not 100% sold on the voice actor they picked for Isaac Clarke. Now, I do like the fact he speaks now, as opposed to the first game, it humanizes him, and makes him feel 'real.' However I expected a more gruff, mature, and I guess wise sound to his voice and vocabulary as Isaac is a middle-aged engineer, not an intern in his mid-twenties. The voice actor is good, but I'm not sure if he was good for Isaac specifically.
In conclusion, I have to give Dead Space 2:
8.7 Eyeball Shish Kebabs out of 10
Stross was a bit disappointing as he was kinda predictable, also the main antagonist - who I do not remember his name - was kinda just shoved into the plot half-way into the game, making him feel like an afterthought. But this game isn't really about them, it's about Clarke, Nicole, and Ellie, so I am a-ok with that.
What a dog shit ending. An unholy amount of QTEs rammed into the finale gauntlet. You are better off tanking the damage then actually committing to taking any bastard down. Which is in opposition to what the game had taught you. And these rats had the audacity to have the unkillable shit stain return. Who the hell thought that was a good idea? Honestly playing chapter 13 to close feels like such a damn chore.
Fantastic horror game that breaks the usual mold of "you can try and run and hide or avoid to save resources."
Combines action and horror seamlessly. No longer can you cower and hope the creatures avoid you, the screaming, hissing, gurgling necromorphs are instantly in your face and slicing at you. Suspenseful scenes done well and scary atmospheres aplenty. The only thing to mention is that disabling v-sync drastically changes the experience and must be done.
A must play for any horror fans.
A fun sequel to Dead Space 2. The end gets to be a bit too much of a grind without much strategy or skill involved. But I liked the narrative and the characters. The voice acting was excellent and the game play overall had that great Dead Space feel to it!
This is a worthy sequel to Dead Space 1. the only problem is its too scary haha, soo scary i might not even be able to finish it and im only playing it on normal because its too scary haha
This game is Amazing. The problem is EA, as it always has been and will be. The game currently does not run on modern machines, there are multiple threads with fixes. I spent 2 hours looking for the one that worked for me which is this one: https://steamcommunity.com/app/47780/discussions/0/3451465085384043949/
The game is good but if you can, avoid EA games like the plague.
Nevermind, the game still won't run. Fuck this company
This is my favorite video game. Everything from the art direction in every aspect, the gameplay, the sound, the music, the story in both fore and background, the actors performances, it's all so tight and well executed. If you asked me to point to a single game that swirls together all the things involved in making a game and nails all of them, I'd point you here. More than a couple games do a better job at all of the things I listed individually, but damn few even come close to presenting such a compelling and complete package.
