In Dead Space™ 2, you join Isaac Clarke, the Systems Engineer from Dead Space, as he wakes up three years after the horrific events on the USG Ishimura. The Ishimura was a Planetcracker-class starship besieged by grotesque reanimations of its dead crew, known as “Necromorphs.”
After unearthing a strange artifact known as the Marker, Isaac finds himself on the Sprawl, a giant space station in orbit around Saturn. Unable to remember how he got here and plagued with demented visions of his dead girlfriend Nicole, he must survive another nightmarish outbreak of Necromorphs as he fights his way towards an answer he hopes will end all the chaos.

Key Features:
- Tear through space with full 360 degree movement.
- Wield a set of devastating tools to bring the terror to space. Impale Necromorphs into the walls with the Javelin, use improved telekinesis to turn limbs into deadly weapons, plant powerful dismembering trip mines, or create a hull-breach to suck a group of monsters out into space.
- Fire up Isaac’s suit boosters to rocket around in zero gravity like never before. Explore the depths of the Sprawl and encounter new weightless combat and physics-based puzzles with full 360⁰ movement.

A lot of gore and beautiful weapons. Scarier than the previous.
Great game and Ellie is The GOAT.
take everything right about the first game, add psychological issues to the protagonist and shift some sequences to higher populated areas then you have a genuine improvement that elevates the series. Seriously I prefer Dead Space 2 over the original as it expands what exactly happened to you after the first game and it really does mess with you in creative ways alongside the body horror of the necromorphs all across the game. it breathes new life into the stakes of the narrative while keeping the core gameplay where it should be. If you want a psychological twist to zombie horror this is the best you'll find as far as I am concerned.
I haven't played this game since it was released all the way back on the Xbox 360. It's actually holds up pretty well, with the sound design being top notch and the level design being amazing. Highly recommend it. Me may never get a Dead Space 2 remake, but that's okay. This game is still fantastic.
really fun game. got it on sale for 3 bucks so cant complain lol
Replayed one of the best games ever made, Refuses to elaborate, Leaves
10/10 Play it
Dead Space 2 – The Horror Gets Bigger and Bloodier
★★★★☆ (4/5)
Picked this up after the first game, and wow—Dead Space 2 turns everything up a notch. The scares are more intense, the story dives deeper into Isaac’s messed-up mind, and the action is way more brutal.
The atmosphere? Still fantastic. The zero-G sections and creepy environments keep you on edge, and the necromorphs are just as nightmarish as before.
The gameplay is tighter, and the variety of weapons and enemies keeps things fresh. Plus, the story twists kept me hooked longer than I expected.
It’s not just a sequel; it’s a full-on horror ride with plenty of gore and heart. Just don’t play it in the dark if you plan to sleep soon.
At 14 years old Dead Space 2 still holds up both in terms of play-ability and story & scares.
Visually the game holds up and with a few tweaks capping the fps you can avoid the funky physics and glitches that occur at the much higher fps modern systems achieve.
With big shoes to fill after the original Dead Space, Dead Space 2 is beautifully paced. With an opening chapter that re-introduces the basic game-play mechanics whilst highlighting the new mechanics and game-play elements without bogging down the story or overly holding your hand, whilst also giving us a taste for the horror we are due to encounter.
The story and game-play are perfectly paced, just when you think you're immune to the scares, uncomfortable atmosphere and feel like you've got to grips with the game-play, the developers throw you a new way to jump out of your seat, a new enemy or set piece to submerse you back into the horror of the reality Issac is in and new challenges to test your skills and problem solving to the limit.
Level wise we are reintroduced to the tight claustrophobic corridors that made the original a nightmare at every turn, compounding this fear with new shaft crawling segments which have you praying that each turn and twist in the endless vents don't lead you face to face with a necromorph. With the new setting of The Sprawl, we have more open spaces and areas where the claustrophobia isn't so prevalent however visceral have mastered this space perfectly, having you fear what could be watching, lurking and stalking in the dark corners of these larger environments whilst leaving you feeling exposed.
The story builds from the first, giving us deeper insight into humanity in the stars and how the forces of unitology are prevalent even in the far flung reaches of the frontier of space. Environmental storytelling is a huge part of this, as the station feels alive with all the text and audio logs scattered around the station painting a dark picture of life before and during the outbreak, making you feel connected and invested in people you likely never meet for one reason or another.
With the Dead Space remake now out and frequently on sale, id recommend this game at the price it is at as this is my favourite Dead Space game. However it is frequently on sale so at any price below the current id consider a steal for a game that would need only a visual remaster to bring it up to modern standards even 14 years later. If you recently finished the remaster or finished the first and never got round to the sequel yet want to continue the delve into Issacs story or just experience the fear and horror this game holds, even 14 years on this game is an absolute must play for Dead Space and Horror game fans alike.
This shit should be renamed to escape from Diddy's planet.
On zealot this game really shows that its not a modern game, in the best way. Bullshit instant kill enemies and traps. Bullshit sections where you will die over and over again (I am looking at you elevator section). Yet there is also this feeling of pride when you finally kill the last fucking stalker... before you walk onto a camod mine.
So go out space Leon Kennedy, and shoot some god damn Xenomophs.
Dead Space 2 is a pretty great game.
The cast is phenomenal, both the main and supporting, with Gunner Wright and Tanya Clarke give career-defining performances.
The game feels as good as Dead Space has ever felt, the emphasis on story is a much welcomed shift, the world building is vast and immersive, the mechanics are expanded and perfected, it's all round an absolute must-play for any fans of Dead Space or survival horror, heck even for just fans of sci-fi.
Please play this game.
But with all this said, why am I firmly in the minority that believes the original is a superior overall experience? Dead Space 2 IS great, but it also tries too hard to be MORE than what it is. It tries too hard to be an action movie, to be a suspenseful horror, to be a character study, to be a mindless shoot-em-up, to appeal to old fans, and to appeal to new ones, and this pulling works really well for some and falls flat for others. I'm the 'others'.
My biggest gripe is that the game just doesn't want to be quiet. Every time there's an enemy on screen the game thinks there needs to be MORE, every time the quiet atmospheric dread is building up the game thinks it should throw ANOTHER cheap jump-scare at you. It's too scared to let things build and it's too excited to rush you to the next set-piece to have the patience to just BREATHE.
I really enjoyed this game, and you will too, that's a guarantee. Just don't go in expecting the quiet, suspenseful, dread that permeated through the first Dead Space. This isn't the Ishimura. It's the Sprawl. And it is throwing everything it has at you to make sure you don't survive the journey.
AVOID THIS GAME, apparently I cannot start the game because my cpu has to many cores. Not joking you, look it up. Seeing as most people use cpus with more than 8 cores, most people will not be able to play this game. Don't waste your money, avoid this game until it is fixed.
An amazing sequel to the first game. This game is definitely more action heavy compared to the first one but still keeps the horror aspect with examples like the Stalker sections (Which are my favourite).
Changes to Kinesis mechanics elevate the feature to new heights, allowing for cool moments with physics objects. Gun variety is greater than ever as well. This game is definitely more linear and story heavy than the first, which instead allowed you to do certain objectives in any order you see fit.
The highlights for me are the environment and Necromorph variety compared to the first game, the devs put in a ton of work modelling Titan Station's different areas with Slashers having new models like the doctors from the hospital. Overall I can't really say which game I prefer over the other since I love both for different reasons, but this game feels like a natural progression from the first game which makes it iconic.
I'm still pissed EA executives murdered Visceral games and didn't greenlight a Dead Space 2 remake, although this version is still amazing. Fingers crossed for the future where better executives take charge of this IP.
THE best dead space game, sad that the remake got cancelled because ea is being ea
I didn't expect this game to be scarier than Outlast, but it is, and it's great.
1000x better than the first,
No remake required here, still a very solid and scary game
You’re missing out if you’ve played the first/remake and haven’t played this, story is so good and gameplay is too
Vou começar um novo jogo e fica carregando infinitamente vou ter que jogar em outra plataforma
Dead Space 2 is a perfect example of how a game evolves alongside the player.
From the very first minutes, you’re not a hero — you’re a victim. Everything’s collapsing, alarms are screaming, necromorphs burst through walls, and you’re clinging to the nearest med pack and a wrench like your life depends on it. The beginning is a nervous breakdown. Pressure, claustrophobia, panic. The sound design feels like it’s from hell — every creak might be your last.
But over time, you learn.
With every new weapon, every suit upgrade, you stop being prey. Confidence begins to seep through the fear. Line Gun, Force Gun, Seeker Rifle — they’re not just tools, they’re proof you’ve survived. The monsters aren’t terrifying anymore — they’re just obstacles.
You’re no longer running from the darkness — you’re stepping into it with a flashlight and your finger on the trigger.
And then it hits you: you’re not afraid of the necromorphs —
they should be afraid of you.
Dead Space 2 isn’t just horror — it’s transformation. It’s the journey from fear to control, from helplessness to dominance.
It’s not just a game you play — it’s a game you grow through.
Looks good for an older game and the story is engaging.
honestly the game balance kinda rubs me the wrong way but its just like i remember.. 2 is better then 3
The game starts up and crashes 3 seconds later, sometimes it doesn't load up at all. I can't even play it to give a proper review... I've tried everything, downloaded a link, tried playing through admin, change screen resolution, etc, nothing worked. This is my review, until it's fixed. I will write another when it does...
EA for the love of God put achievements in Dead Space 2 so it gives people a reason to play it more often Seriously has EA's legal department just forgot how quality assurance works
Graphics- Great
Gameplay- Great
Story- Good
overall- Great
I was really enjoying this game after playing the first one, but due to a glitch in chapter 7 with the door not properly working I am unable to even continue the game. It seems a lot of other people have also experienced this glitch, but unfortunately none of the tips they provided seem to fix this issue.
As this is a major game-breaking bug which prevents me from continuing the story at all, I cannot recommend others to buy this.
can't even open the game without a patch and even with that I get constant texture flickering, what a fucking joke
Dead Space 2 turns dismemberment into an art form and existential dread into a soundtrack. You know a game’s great when you're terrified of what’s not there. Half the fear comes from silence.
Este juego es la polla
lastima q no apareció Solid Snake pero ademas de eso es uno de los mejores juegos que he jugado en la historia
Amazing game/ Made me shit myself 2 times, and the story is actually just a masterpiece. 100000/10
Like the first game, it has a couple hardware issues (doesn't like to run on CPUs with more than 4 cores, vsync messes up the mouse, etc) but still a REALLY good game, it's not as creepy as the first game but it has it's moments and the gameplay is a lot less clunky here. Like the first game I wouldn't recommend this if you're not willing to put in the work to make it run properly, otherwise this is a must have.
The one thing I dislike about this game is that EA decided to put all of the DLC in the in-game shops for free, meaning at the very first shop your store is full of free weapons and armor you shouldn't be able to unlock.
Cool game, kinda reminds me of F.E.A.R. for some reason. I do not quite understand why some items in the store are free, but it doesnt really hurt the game.
Completed the game, would like to also play ds1, but 59,99 eu?! Heck no, ill wait for sale

[Turn off VSYNC to fix 30 fps cap]
Highly recommend Dead Space 2 if you’re a fan of the series. This game improved upon the original experience in every aspect. I really liked having Isaac speak, thank god he doesn’t constantly speak during the game and ruin the experience.
The graphics still hold up extremely well, albeit some low res textures, but that’s to be expected. The audio is excellent, exceeding the first game.
I thought the more set pieces introduced were excellent and fun to play. They weren’t over done.
I ended up not having enough ammo for the final battle and that drew it out for me. Other than that I thoroughly enjoying time playing it. Took about 8 hours and that was more than enough.
Do your say favour and play the Dead Space series and see how good gaming was when people had original ideas and goals!
IM NOT EVEN DONE THE GAME AND ITS ALREADY ONE OF MY FAVORITES.
I started off on the remake of dead space and then got this...at first I thought the game would be outdated and not as good as the remake.but my predictions are wrong. The game is grate in fact there are things that I think are better than the remake.Like the pulse rifle it dose way more damage and shreds through the necromorphs.
Legit all you need is the plasma cutter and the pulse rifle and you can beat anythings.but that all depends om how you want to play.I was also suprised by the amount of varioation with heavy armor light armor and mediem armor.
My favorite of the series, I love the improvement to knesis and the ability to use enviornmental weapons. Worth every cent.
One of my favorite games of all time the gameplay still holds up great and the story is awesome.
Played this at release back on the PS3, revisited it on PC recently after so many years + as I got around to getting a QD-OLED.
My favourite horror game without a doubt, genuinely miss the multiplayer aspect of the game too.
They just don't make them like this anymore sadly.
THE BEST GAME EVER MADE
all the stupid ass shit from games of this era and ALL ERAS that is fucking annoying as fuck in all games is actually GOOD in this game like GUNS and SHOOTING CONTROLS that aren't DOGASS and weapon variety that actually fucking matters and is fun to play around with and enemy designs that are MECHANICALLY AND ARTISTICALLY UNIQUE AND GOOD and fucking quick time events there are GOOD QUICK TIME EVENTS IN THIS GAME THEY CONTRIBUTE TO THE TENSION you see the game uses the fact that games were becoming more cinematic to actually make you feel tense like, you can't stop paying attention to the cutscenes because any one of them could be a QTE that fucking kills you, any random section you might need to shoot something or mash E or fly through fucking space really quick and the game does an excellent job of hiding exactly what's just for show and what actually matters, I don't even know if the debris in those flying sections can hurt you cause I always dodge it and THAT'S FUCKING COOL cause the game NEVER TOLD ME TO DODGE IT I just STARTED DOING IT ON MY OWN AND NEVER STOPPED BECAUSE I ACTUALLY FUCKING CARE ABOUT WINNING AND DOING THE THING. Isaac says FUCK he screams when you stomp the necromorph he feels hatred he feels fear you see his emotions play out on the screen and everything feels totally fucking justified in its design and its place in the narrative, this game has the best PACING of ALL GAMES I can play this shit back to back to back 3 times and not get tired of it because it is just that fucking good at keeping you interested in what's happening in front of you and what's right around the corner the number of unique environments and characters and encounters they fit into this one fucking space station is more than most games will EVER have in an entire fucking OPEN WORLD assassin's creed has had like 2 fuckin environments ever in all their games they got old ass city made of bricks times 1000 and then like some country side or the parts where you're in abstergo I guess but motherfuckin Dead Space 2 has 60 quadrillion atomically modeled unique environments and you see all of them in like 10 HOURS of GAME MAX. There is more GAME in this GAME than there is in your whole mind before you play it, other games look like SHIT afterward.
EA said "nah" though, so they made gears of space 3 after this
Amazing game but if you buy the Steam version it ruins most of the game progression by forcing you to start with fully unlocked weapons and gear. Pretty much, the Steam version starts you on easy mode with little to no reward system.
The second part of the Dead Space series has undergone some changes; most for the better, some for the worse, but the most important thing is that the atmosphere of cosmic horror that surrounds the player has been preserved... well, almost.
When I played DS2 many years ago, I had a lot of fun, and the game is still a lot of fun today. The graphics, although they have aged, do not disgust the player. The gameplay is dynamic, the enemies are as ruthless as before, everything is as it was. Many more suits, many more weapons, new enemies, changes in Stasis and movement in zero gravity. This game is a successful successor to the first part... but not perfect.
While in the first DS the plot was very good, unique, here unfortunately we have a downgrade. We run around the station getting screwed by unitology fanatics, then again by the guy we should have gotten rid of as soon as he started to go crazy, then at the very end by the specter of his ex-girlfriend. At some point Isaac loses his head and starts communicating with her, even though she has been dead for years. The final fight is not only disappointing, but also tedious on a higher difficulty level (I played on Zealot) due to the lack of access to ammo/healing items - I had to load the game from the previous chapter to take the right amount of supplies with me.
However, the biggest problem with DS2 is that it is a bit more action-oriented than horror-oriented compared to DS1. Such a transition from one genre to another is not unfamiliar to me (e.g. the transition from a classic RPG with a heavy, gloomy atmosphere like Dragon Age Origins to the action RPG Dragon Age 2) and although here they did not decide on a radical change, after some time you can feel a certain change of direction - which was completely done in Dead Space 3, unnecessarily by the way. Many people accused EA of interfering in DS3 - rightly so - but in my opinion, it is already visible here in the form of microtransactions. Unique suits and weapons could be purchased in the EA Store: it may not be much, but it was from such things that the milking of players began.
DS2 suffers from a few other flaws, such as the inability to return to some locations - while from a plot perspective the inability to return here and there makes sense, the game simply blocks doors in some places... eh, sometimes I missed the freedom from Ishimura. And why do the monster bodies disappear so quickly? On the Zealot level, the player counts on the available ammo, there isn't much of it, and here you just have to turn in one direction and poof... the body is gone. The creators of other games quickly solved such a problem as setting the number of bodies or their despawn time in the options. I don't really understand why they didn't decide to do something like that here.
Ultimately, I can rate this game 8.5/10. Someone reading this will be surprised - why so high, when there is so much criticism? Well, because the game does everything perfectly in other aspects, if I looked very carefully I might find a flaw or two... but it's hard. The game made such a good impression years ago that they decided to import some of the changes to Dead Space Remake. That's enough for me.
I highly recommend Dead Space 2.
Delist EA. Forcing third-party accounts and banning for inactivity with no appeal is predatory.
An amazing sequel to the first, great story and gameplay, i always find myself coming back to this one and is definitely the best of the three 11/10
Seriously wish they brought this franchise back with something other than a reboot
Very nice game, but they botched the mouse controls.
A really good game that builds upon a the original in many ways. We're back with Isaac Clarke, now having a bad case of schizophrenia this time around, but we've now also got new guns, cools suits, and crazy cosmic horror shit. This guy even does a goddamn superhero landing in this one too.
follows the same trappings of many other horror franchises where the sequel adds in a ton of action set-pieces which dampen the horror aspects of the game. I still enjoyed it a ton but I would have preferred a little less action and a little more horror.
story wise is even better than the first although it builds on what the 1st built tbf. Was scarier to me than the first because of the jumpscares. Has some terrible issues though. CPU core count issue, flickering issue, dlc free items, solar elevator loading glitch, an infinite loading screen, and conduit rooms needing to be fixed. But despite all of that its worth playing. Definitely a goat. ANd I wanna give ellie babies
Loved this when it first came out years ago but there are now reports of it not working properly. Make sure if you buy this you install and test it before the refund window elapses.
amazing game a lot harder than the first game and more disturbing scenes for sure but isaac is the man
This is my favorite Dead Space game of all time, and it runs amazing on steam deck, and looks amazing, no issues not one crash. I wish the DLC was available but that is a small price to pay, as this game is entertaining from the get go. just make sure you use the cd key.
Honestly I got really excited to here they released Space 2, but got even more excited when I realized it was actually Dead Space 2. Fun game, blow a dude's arm off and pick up his arm and skewer him with it. Fun stuff.
Has zero restraint or subtlety, and is pretty obnoxious as a horror game. But as a spooky action rollercoaster game, it kicks ass!!
this is one of my all time favourite Horror Form of games, the story is so rich, it comes in a trilogy (i havent experienced Dead Space 3 yet), Dead Space 2 Being my favourite one that i have played so far, i can certainly recommend this game if your into games that sort of familiarise themselves with for example "The Flood" from Halo, it has that sort of Infestation vibe, with a beautiful Story
