ORCS

Played nearly all of the games of "Pixel vs Pixel" and what can I say about them?
They are simple.
"ORCS" is the first of the releases and it is as basic at it gets: The story and premise is simple, the gameplay-mechanics are simple (jump, attack and throw), the presentation from pixel-artwork to music is simple.
But simple must not mean it is bad. It just is what it is.
The game is challenging, platforming and enemy placement is dense, health is scarce.
The final boss really has you on edge.

In short: Everything about this shows the early attempts of a dev creating something and this is definetly something good. It reminds me of early flash-games. For some cents you could really go worse.

infuriating to play

Overly simplistic, but highly playable and often fun. The graphics make it look like a mix between NES and Atari, the game being more like a dumbed down Mario-style platformer. What's fun about this game is figuring out the different ways to bypass the countless enemy types you come across. There are also several bosses and the game keeps introducing new elements as you progress. There are little details like a shield you can pick up from a fallen enemy on the final level, or a sub-zero type orc that freezes you so the harder enemies can come at you. You also get secondary weapons which, while only used once, are occasionally vital for survival. Overall not great but very playable.

Somewhat competent but too basic and unimpressive to recommend to anybody, I certainly don't want to play any more of it.

Loved finishing this game, fair price for a fair experience.
