Quick fun! need friends as is a very small community, i would reccomend making it free with cosmetics? just to boost the playerbase as the core gameplay process is really neat!

For 60 gosh darn pence(on sale), this game is an excellent free for all 4 player bonanza. high speed and a lot of fun. highly recommended for a time killer.

very small playerbase for a very underrated game. the arrow variation and lack of a crosshair leads to epic bruh moments where nobody hits their shots. 10/10 would sell a toe for it.

Arkshot is a fps games with masses of potential. the idea of using arrows with projectile arcs is genius and while it has been done before Arkshot is entirely focused on it. The game has unfortunately been abandoned as another inde game that releases with little substance but great ideas. The lack of single player modes has ruined this game and while multiplayer is a good option, with a small player base you cannot find matches.
In Arkshot, you wield a bow and a limited number of arrows; once fired these arrows arc significantly requiring some practise even arcing based on your movement. The hud contains information about stamina and the number of arrows you have however there is no crosshair and no option to turn one on. There is no health bar as you die in one hit to arrows. The movement options offered are abundant, you can sprint, jump and crouch as standard however now you can air dash and arrow jump. The air dash can be used in any direction to gain height or speed. The arrow jump is like team fortress 2’s rocket jump, by shooting an arrow at the ground and jumping simultaneously you can boost yourself into the sky. If you crouch then do this, you can gain even more height. All these mechanics require stamina to use. The stamina bar is split into 12 increments: the air dash requires 5 bars, the jump requires ½ a bar, to fully charge an arrow it takes ½ a bar and sprinting costs approximately 1 bar every 0.83 seconds. Stamina recharges when walking, standing still and crouching with the fastest being still crouched. Campers are punished in this game as after 20 seconds sky arrows fall and kill you unless you quickly move.
Scattered across the map, like many other area shooters, are powerups. These have two types: new arrows and character changing. The arrows include: Smoke, Decoy, Reload, Super and Concussion. Smoke arrows cause a plume of smoke to block visibility allowing players to sneak up on each other. Decoy arrows spawn a copy of your character to confuse foes. Reload is a resupply of arrows in case you’re getting low. Super arrows are weightless, piecing and bouncing arrows which can be used effectively with some imagination. Concussion arrows knock you and enemies away this can be used to knock players of the map or to enhance your super jumps. The other type of power up is character changing including: Invisibility, Coffee, Shrinking, Mid-air jumps and a Bubble shield. Invisibility is self-explanatory however you become visibly as soon as you draw an arrow. Coffee increases speed, stamina regen and draw speed for 30 seconds. Shrinking makes your character smaller however sometimes the character is made bigger. Mid-air jumps allow you to jump extra times in the air however each jump requires more and more stamina. Finally, the bubble shield allows you to take a hit but distorts your vision. These powerups can be obtained from stations around the maps in their form or from a random powerup.
Arkshot has a variety of maps and modes to play online. It has 14 maps with multiple settings mainly sticking to forests, castles, lava worlds and ice worlds. It has 5 modes including: Headhunter, King of the hill, Slow down, Deathmatch and Capture the flag. Headhunter is a mode where you collect skulls from opponents after killing them and redeeming them at a kiosk to get points. In King of the hill you capture a Kiosk and protect it form other players. Slow Down is more innovative game mode where after every kill you are slowed down this continues until the kill limit is reached. Deathmatch is the standard free for all, get kills to get points. In capture the flag you take to flag to kiosks to score points. Unfortunately, due to the lack of players and no bots, I haven’t been able to test these maps or modes.
While there is a level of customisation in Arkshot, most of it is rather simple being colour, name, bow, mask and taunt sound. None of these are unlockable as they are already unlocked. There is no levelling in this game which would have added some motivation to play, other than getting better. The name tag forces you to have a name under 5 letters so if you want your name to be longer unfortunately you can’t.
Personally, I think the development team should have looked back on this game and updated it based on what feedback they get. Having said that, this is a two-man development team and Arkshot was just a side project for them. They have long since moved on to other projects, so a change or update is extremely improbable.
I believe that there are some things that would have helped this game become more than the abandoned game that it is:
-Bots to fill in matches and for offline play
-Levelling system that gives the bows as rewards
-Single player campaign
-Split-screen multiplayer
Bots are probably the biggest issue of the game, with almost nobody playing, bots are required to keep interest and make players want to practise. A levelling system, I think would make players feel like they are being rewarded for playing not that they are being ignored. The single player campaign would have helped as something more to do. The split-screen multiplayer would make the game feel more like a party game. These things and small adjustments like adding a crosshair and removing the sky arrows in the training zone would have helped a lot.
Overall, Arkshot falls at the hurdle many of these inde multiplayer games do as the player base disbands and the limited/non-existent options on single player modes cannot hold up. An unfortunate game of wasted potential and opportunity. If it just had some bots to play against, I think more people would play it and the game would still be a viable option as a great party game to play with friends. It works as a one-off party game with friends but doesn’t do much more than that. Just disappointing.
It's a great game to play with friends, but don't get it unless you have some friends with it to play with, because it doesn't have enough players to support an online community. Provided you have people to play it with, it's a great price. (especially when on sale)
Nobody's playing this game even though it's at a 66% discount on the Summer sale and unfortunately that means there's no reason to buy it.
Shame because it looks like a lot of fun.
Well, where to start....
I originally got this game form a firend of mine. I enjoyed playing it with him and I still do, and will definetly recommend it to you, dear reader.
I think this is a cool game as it tosses all things an average FPS would have such as a crosshair and a health bar for a one hit, one kill policy along with some predicting required for where your arrows are going to land. These features make it seem retro yet still fresh and exciting. If you are wondering, Each fully charged arrow is similar to te huntsman arrow in Team Fortress 2, except slightly bigger. Just like any other review would say, it will require more people to enjoy as the most i've ever seen in one region is 5. If I were to give a negative point to this game it would be that a lot of the maps are very easy to fall into a pit/void/lava for newer players ( I'm guilty of this too) because of the very fast moving characters. Also, some power ups are very overpowered (physics arrow) or sets you in LUDICROUS speeeeeds like the coffee.
Very fun simple FPS. Unfortunately the lack of active playerbase makes it all but unplayable unless you can get some friends together to play, but it's on sale right now for a dollar twenty-four US, so if you feel like spending 5 bucks and getting some friends together to play a pretty great game, I'd highly recommend it.
This game consists of only free-for-all. No 2v2. There are just a few objectives. Very poor online with a barren server-browser. No community. And the best sale I've seen is like 20% off a 4-pack.
Sad because it truly is a fun game, but not running around solo with nothing to shoot at and even with 3 other eager players only then for a short short while until you realize you have done and tried everything in the game.
For $2 it could be a fun little party game to play from time to time but that is about it unfortunately.
As stated by the only other negative review at this time-there ar no players on the servers whatsoever-across the world as it is broken up into like 9 different servers of 1 person...me.
I only got the game thinking that since the game is brand new it would still have players like in the first few weeks of the game Screencheat. Note that the time I was searching for servers was at 930 PM US east.
The gameplay itself (in practice mode) is very awkward but obviously meant for you to play it for a while to get used to the movement, ammo, aiming, timings, and of course the powerups...but with no players it is impossible to tell how that would feel in combat.
Definitely don't recommend solely on the premise of no players.
I think this game holds much potential. It feels smooth and responsive. The jumping mechanic feels familiar to anyone who has played games like tf2; Where you can rocket-jump by shooting at your feet, or dashing mid-air. If you then mix that with the twitchyness of Quake, give it a flashy ps1-polygon aestethic and add a bow and arrow, you kind of got this game; Which is really cool!
However, I've only had like 2-3 matches in my 1.7 hours of playing, and you can't even explore the maps without any other players, so if you don't have any to play with, you basically only got the training grounds. Maybe it could be fixed by making waiting for a match more exciting or atleast let you explore the map you're about to play, so you're not only stuck in a lobby. Or giving you some sort of incentive to wait for a match
I really want to play more of this game because it holds the potential to be really enjoyable, so I do hope more players come around!
Looks fun but unfortunately there is no one playing it, at all. The game suggested I make a game since there were none but no one ever joined so I can only play the training area which is about 5 minutes worth of fun before I get bored. Game looks good but I can't recommend it if I have yet to see another player online.
Arkshot is a fast paced game that requires that you can aim and to plan ahead.
You always need to keep track of your stamina. Your stamina drains when you sprint, jump or dash towards a direction. Without stamina you can't do fast moves or even shoot. So with no stamina you're an easy target.
The aiming is challenging. With only a bow and arrow you have to keep in mind that the arrows sink pretty fast and does not travel at bullet speed. And without a crosshair you need to train your memory of where the center of the screen is to be a bowman of accuracy.
There is also a handful of game modes and maps which brings variety to the game and leads to many hours of fun.
Arkshot is a great game to play with friends. I had a lot of fun playing it!
A lovely game that is fast paced and full of action. The trailer basically shows what you will experience in game, and has a nice party style with lighthearted gameplay. I would recommend the game especially for groups as it is not too expensive.
It's a fun and simple multiplayer shooter. You can either jump into a game with 3 other random players or just set up a private game to play with friends..
It's quite a 'Quake-Style' shooter that's very fun and has some rather interesting powerups that make the game entertaining.
The only negative that I'll say right now is that Controller Support needs to be worked on a bit more. Other than that its a good, simple FPS that can be highly entertaining.
Really great game for the price. Get some freinds together and let the aiming salt enflow i hope for mask and content is added but if not thats ok. Defintly a good game for youtube videos and streams looking forward to playing it more.
Another game proving that you don't need fancy graphics to be a good game. This charming arena shooter, obviously taking inspiraton from Quake and other arena shooters, is one of my current favorite games.
Pros: free bow skins, free masks and taunts(sounds), large selection of maps and gamemodes, great gameplay.
Cons: sometimes the chat freezes up, and the bow consumes a lot of stamina.
Overall: 9/10 would recommend
