I bought this around release and because of motion sickness (underpowerered hardware) I never got around to playing more than the first 10 minutes until the end of 2024.
So how does it hold up in VERY late 2024? Phenomenal for the most part. The graphics are gorgeous and the sense of immersion is amazing. I know the dev has long since given up on this, it shouldn't be tagged as early access as it's not been updated in years, but it IS playable from start to finish.
My only real (minor) complaint is that I think it would have been better suited as a fully on-rails experience, allowing users to control the speed and, if chosen, rotation. Having the user in the transport was a good idea though and I think helped minimize motion sickness.
Would I recommend it? At full price...YES!! It's still worth it. It's about an hour ride maybe? A bit less if you don't stop to smell the roses, a bit more if you do (or if you can't figure out one of the few spots where it's not clear where to go next). If this is on sale and you have a VR headset? You HAVE to get this. It holds up well, it's just a visual feast still and it shows how art & color mean more than resolution when it comes to VR.
Game doesnt load just sits on main screen with no way of entering game.
this isnt a game its just a spectical and not a very good one at that. Also its the only game after playing 3hours( i thought the game was surely going to eventually start) is the only VR game where i have felt seriously ill from vr sickness. Avoid like the plague
Lame physics and textures, the whole thing might as well be on rails ..feels cheap
Im sorry but i did not understand this experience. The quality is pretty low and everything seems like it hasnt been given enough ettention. Plenty of unfinished parts, inverted normals, giant particles and other weird stuff, besides a couple of decent scenes i did not enjoy the navigation or experience
Incredible visuals and highly immersive experience. Hell, even the music fits perfectly. Has a hollywood spielbergy ring to it. Was saddened when I launched back home again lol. Still, there were 3 area's I hasn't travelled through, so look forward to that. Recommended purchase folks!
very very eye catching enviroment VR game. I highly recommend this game for Vive or CV1 owers.
I've owned a Vive for a few months now and iOMoon is one of the best experiences in VR I've had. The game is exploration based and its visually stunning enviroments as well as the exotic borderline terrifying creatures increase in intensity and scale as you progress. The graphics look really great and reprojection didn't turn on very often running on a 290x. I would say the game is easily worth it's full price at it's current state. The only thing that detracted from the experince for me was the really slow rotating speed on smooth mode; there should be a faster speed.
This was freaking fantastic!!! I was blown away by how immersive it was. The sound design is phenomenal. The visuals are astounding. I did not want to stop playing. I just finished it today but there are still some areas I need to go back and explore. Comfort level is pretty good also.
Beautiful experience. I'm not a console gamer, so not a fan of the gamepad usually. Walking around by pressing buttons doesn't make much sense. But it works well here. In the game, you are sitting in a high tech exploration pod, operating the controls. In RL, you are sitting in a chair, operating controls.
Very colorful world to explore. I like that you can make your exploration pod transparent for a full view of the surroundings. Only played the first scene, but plan to play some more. Recommended.
Approach this gently, or you will get seasick. I find that if I either look with the controller, or look by turning my head, I'm fine. But if I'm moving one way, and turning my head another, a little nauseous feeling creeps in.
That said, this game is amazing. Explore an alien planet in a small floating vehicle. Visually stunning - I love this.
What an incredible ride! An absolutely fantastic journey through an amazing and beautiful world. VR at its best if you love immersive explorations.
I grabbed this game last week on the Steam Summer sale to be used with the HTC Vive since Vive support was just added last week also. OH MY GOD was I blown away! I currently own close to 100 Vive titles and I will say hands down this is instantly one of my top favorites. The soundtrack through out the game is AMAZING! I cannot tell you the length of the game since I have yet to get to the end but I spent a good 2 1/2 hours in it my first time and that's really saying something for length as far as Vive titles go right now. This game is absolutly beutiful and a must have for any Vive owner!
Firstly - yes, this is basically a walking simulator (so far anyway).
Second - you need a gamepad; Vive controllers are in the game, but they aren't used for locomotion or anything significant really.
If neither of those have put you off, then great. Welcome to iOMoon - a beautiful sci-fi exploration game in VR. It has to be seen to be believed, it is stunning . The visuals and music combine to make a Journey to the centre of the Earth sort of atmosphere, although I suspect it's not very scientifically accurate :)

I freaking knew it. I just knew that this was going to be an incredible adventure, and it is. Great scenery, amazing soundtrack, creepy as crap, and did I mention tense. Non of that smooth movement stuff for me, it is full on. I highly recomend this experience. Time to put my brain back into it's canister and go explore some more.

- Shallow gameplay, lacks interaction with the enviroment, no real objectives
- No real story
- I don't like beeing a brain in a pod. Would prefer a real body for even more immersion
- Can't upgrade "Brainpod", could use some crafting elements
- Can't disable Xbox 360 force feedback, it's very strong, makes my hands numb and drains the batterys of my controller
For me, the game was worth it's money. If you like high immersive experiences mixed with some exploration, give this game a try. I'm really looking forward of what's coming up next for iOMoon from the very talented dev of this!

Summary: May be tempting to buy if you just got a VR headset, but don't bother or wait for a sale.
A fairly good and comfortable Oculus title... but it gets a down vote from me because of its relentless sensory abuse. The music, while well produced, is absolutely everything except subtle. It pounds you into submission without mercy or rest.
The visuals are reasonably good, and often times quite creepy. But on the whole it felt more like a voyage through Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory than any "sciency" voyage into a possible realm...
The whole thing is rather on rails, making it an IO version of the Haunted Mansion at Disney except you control the speed of progress.
On my DK2 it was a bit laggy at most times.
I just finished iOMoon in its current state as of 1st of May 2016. The sense of wonder while roaming around in the exploration pod is quite tangible. I love how it slowly ramps up the experience in both scale and sense of danger. You'll see things both unexpected and familiar - but never on a scale that would exist in the real world. It's distorted and actually a bit scary at times. It feels like travelling in a very obscure piece of art.
The music and wind audio is the one thing that bothered me a bit, as mentioned in my other post. The music itself is good. Expressive and bombastic during moments of danger and then morphs into a more subtle vibe when exploring the caves. But I miss the silence. Silence is such an underrated concept in games. Imagine total silence during the cave lake sequences. Just you, the water ripples and the sound of the entities in the cave. I would love to experience that. I also found it odd that the wind sound effect seemed constant, even in the caves. Almost like it was part of the music and not the environment.
I don't know where this experience will go from here. But from what I've seen it is certainly worthy of your time.

Just a quick review.
* great optics!
* some epic moments and places
* many movement methodes
* its about exploring, no fighting (and thats not a bad thing)
* playtime for me 3 hours. You could be faster if you want, but why would you want that in such an eviroment? And i will defenetly go back and sink some more hours.
* price 19,99 euro and wort every cent of it
* only minor issues (get stuck some time, but could teleport out of it)
* it runs really smoth with my gtx970. got no judder at all, even the big areas running great
* besides the ending of "call of the starseed" thats to most epic experience at this time!

* not many at all. All i could say would be nitpicking.
* you have to be aware that this is an exploration game. There is not much to do, besides taking pictures, find your way, shooting flares and look out for things that will kill you. But like i said, thats not a bad thing.
If you are into a scifi setting, buy it. And if you are not, buy it anyway ;)
