Mechanically not the most polished- easy to hit your head and get caught on platforms that you know you cleared, sometimes enemies and projectiles swarm you with little to no chance of evasion, some of the choppy boss animations make their collisions hit you. Framerate also seems weirdly off at times.
But its still very fun, tight controls, multiple paths through stages, incentive to explore stages. has nice art, has a good soundtrack, and most of all: It's linear, focusing more on combat and platforming. This is just a type of game that we don't get anymore. Any other dev would've made another metroidvania or roguelike with these assets. I love metroidvanias but it's an oversaturated market, and I prefer linear stage-based progression over hardcore exploration and puzzle solving.
Just a nice pick up n play game, offers replayability with it's paths and villagers to save. I love that they're optional, as you can just go straight through the game if you want. Again, not the most polished, but has charming presentation on top of being a linear action platformer, a genre that doesn't get any love nowadays.

Very nice game but definitely to be perfected.
What I did NOT like:
From the empty buggy menu with no writing, or black.
The explanations on what you have to do and / or what certain things you have got are used for.
The saves work only after each chapter, this thing I find quite annoying, also because you often die because of the commands that are done really bad, as well as the layers of the levels; example, they tell you to press ctrl + right arrow and then jump, do it and fall down the ravine. If, on the other hand, I jump and ctrl I can get there better than before.
The key commands are quite inconvenient and I don't know if I have the possibility to change them, since I see the screen without writing.
What I liked:
The gameplay: although repetitive I like a lot that you can spam a lot of buttons in the air, in mid-air, on the ground in short, everywhere and the fact that you can fly with the broom, even if it is more buggy than anything else.
I really like the style with which it is made, although obviously not with a fantastic resolution.
The story (even if I haven't finished it) I'm finding it ok, but I like the concept very much. (it's cool to be a witch)
The music.
Note that this game had a major update in June 2021, and thus many of the older complaints may no longer apply. I had bought the game long ago, tried it for a little while, then shelved it, and am now having fun with the new version.
fun game with good music/mechanic. but is it necessary to draw a hanging 8008 on the main picture? its sad to see every games need to draw big 8008 or something like that to draw attention..
Wicce is a short but pretty good action, platformer game. So let’s talk story.
A young which mother sends her daughter out to visit her grandmother, but when the daughter does not return it's up to the mother to save her little girl.
So what is to like, The story good and simple, it all so had some surprising moments like if you’re going after I'll make the Abyss achievement. The graphics are good and cute; the levels are nice to look at especially the Hub area when you get all the collectibles.
The game has some nice Collectibles that makes a hub area in New Game Plus very nice to look at, the dolls you can get by saving the villagers or buying them we're very adorable looking.
The game's enemies were pretty good looking especially the bosses they were pretty creative looking. The music in the game was very nice. The price for the game was good for such a short game.
The game's hard but fair like as you go to a new area and if you then quit the game and start up again you start at the beginning of the new area and that's pretty handy when going after that achievement power overwhelming.
So what is to dislike, as I explained every time you get to a new area and you quit the game you can start back up again in that new area. But if you get to a new area with a boss battle in it and quit the game, you don’t start immediately at the boss battle you start at the previous area that was leading to the boss battle which could get annoying when trying to get the power overwhelming achievement.
Also I would have liked that the dolls you collect in the game actually did something instead of looking cute. Lastly game can be kind of short if you’re not going after the achievements.
Okay with that said Wicce is a short but good action platformer game. With a good and simple story, nice collectibles and very nice music. So now that I said that I recommend this game it's pretty good and has a fair price.
I liked it, it is a good platform, although it is quite short (1 hour) and the setting is always the same (a city) the game manages so that each section has different elements than the previous one, very versatile.
The graphic section is what attracted me the most, very detailed, it uses dark palettes because it tries to have a gloomy environment.
The most entertaining was the battle with the bosses.
Wicce is a short action platformer about a kindhearted witch trying to save her little girl, and others along the way. It has a dark atmosphere with disturbing enemies and a narrative about the "death" (possibly the black plague) killing thousands. Through it all, I felt a sense of hope, as you can save villagers along the way with your healing powers. There is a total of 8 to find.
Aside from your healing powers, you also have your broom which can be used for melee attacks, flying, or grabbing onto hooks, and a ranged magic attack that chases enemies. You will need to use all of these moves in certain situations to defeat your foes.
The game only lasts about an hour, maybe less if you're speedrunning, however I enjoyed every moment of it. If you're looking for a quick, fun, and inexpensive experience, check this game out.
A very short jump&run game with its own pencil-like painted design and a gothic European medieval story as a synthesis of the arts. Well designed little gem for a quick experience.
It was alraight i guess.
The biggest problem is the air dash attack. Its way to op in my opinion. I was able to skip most of the game with it (exept boss fight). And when you die it doesnt really matter because there is a auto save/respawn point every 20 seconds. I actually fought against only 2~3 groups of enemies.
Exept that it was ok, boss fights were entertaining the dark atmosphere was cool and i liked that you can kill or save the people in town for different ending/s .
For its price (3€ on sale) its fine but definitely not a must have.
I wanna rate it about a 60/100
And despite that I technically would "recommend" this game.
Let me be clear.
This IS NOT a bad game but I feel like theres alot to be desired here.
The art style is very reminiscent of Fran Bow.
Seemingly all hand drawn and animated at the joints...
(see Guns Gore and Canolli)
The color pallet chosen is very pleasant and compells me
to enjoy the animations.
My two biggest issues are Mechanics and Length.
Steam says 1.3hrs played on my run, thats
Setting fixing, software up and Deaths, and
I've beat the game. I wish it were longer but at
the same time I dont want to play more, newer levels.
The game has the Stepping Stones of good mechanics but
I feel doesn't hit a Stride. I feel the world might feel better if
you shrunk the MC...she doesn't seem to be scaled correctly
to the map. The Metroidvania is not lost on me and even
more-so why my issues stand, just off the top of my head
the whole Broomstick is well placed in the game as a tool
but seems to fall short in the grapple aspect. Other than
Climbing Vertically over unjumpable walls the Mechanic
falls a bit flat and bland especially compared to something
such as the Grapples in DMC4 and Megaman Zero Series on GBA.
I feel that maybe 4.99 might be grasping a bit. This is an 'ok'
hour killer for $2-3 if you get it on sale like I did.
Other than that I can only really wholeheartedly recommend
this is an entry level gamer because other than the boss fights
hitting maybe a 3/10 difficulty I cant see any one enjoying
this as much as something thats done this quite better like...
Momodora: RUM.
Enjoy your gaming.

The character design is what drew me to the game, and the art in the game is beautiful. The character sprites are well done. I wouldn't mind seeing these two witches in another game, or making cameos in future games released by the studio.
Unfortunately there is no scaling options in windowed mode, and the available resolutions are extremely low by modern standards. This is a shame, because I'd imagine HD sprites in this style would just be wonderful. This did cause a bit of trouble for me in playing the game, as having to play it in windowed mode resulted in trying to play in a very small box on my screen.
The game itself is a little short, and I wished the adventure was longer when I reached the end.
The big issue I had with the game is the controller support. There is no calibration options and when I first started playing I thought the controls were completely broken until I realized that it appeared to be a deadzone issue with the joystick. This issue of the controls was the largest portion of my deaths in the game as trying to dodge usually ended up with me being stuck standing, ducking, or looking up right in the path of what I was trying to dodge. Surprisingly the minigame at the credit roll had the best controls in the game in terms of movement as the deadzone issues disappeared.
The gameplay itself is a little basic by action platformer standards. You have your basic ranged attack, a couple of melee skills like a slide, and a few magic attacks. There isn't much in the way of upgrades or variation for your magic.
If you can take a little frustration, the game is worth playing for the art alone. I'd pick it up on sale due to the short length.
I liked, that game don't force me to be good. She is a Witch. Dark story...
Character has excellent mobility.
Unique art, music, bosses.
Good default keyboard layout.
Not too difficult.
The most game that i didn't expect that much from
i'm really subrice from this game if you like castlevania or metroid you will like this
or add me as friend if u want this game as gift say im immortal
..............
i edit this and add this but i dont now why i can't stop crying
This is a disappointing review for me to write. I was enjoying the game very much during the first couple of levels, but then the oddities and bugs started stacking up and tipped the scale in the other direction.
On a positive note, the graphics were clear, and the controls were very responsive. I liked the appearance of the main character and the scenery. It seemed like a nice little fantasy world to dive into. I'm an avid fan of straightforward platformers, so I love to see a well-done platformer that hasn't been muddied up with puzzles. If I can find one that incorporates real-time combat, then it immediately goes to the top of my list.
Wicce is a side-scrolling platformer. The character is a witch, and the combat is limited to a melee attack with a broom with charged special attack. Throughout the game, you obtain gold and red gems as drops for breaking destructibles and defeating enemies. However, there doesn't seem to be a purpose to the gold, and the game doesn't provide nearly enough of the red gems for healing, considering that I've encountered no other healing mechanism in the game.
One of the oddities is encountering characters where you're directed to press the up arrow and "X" at the same time. The purpose of this is unknown to me. At first, I thought it would heal my character or provide some type of upgrade or item, but I've seen no evidence of that. My second thought was a save point, but that didn't prove to be the case, either, as the character always goes back to the beginning of a level upon death.
It's worth noting that sometimes I would restart a level after death with the same number of red gems I had upon death, and sometimes I started with much less. I could find no rhyme or reason to this, making me think it was either a development issue or very unclear game mechanics. There doesn't seem to be an upgrade mechanism anywhere in the game, and I've encountered no other items. Even so, I kept playing.
The third boss is where things got out of hand for me. I was beginning the level with very little health and no more than 2 red gems, which only heal partially. You can't go backwards to other levels, and I encountered no merchants of any kind to obtain these items. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't beat this boss, so I posted in the discussion forum for help, as well as the developer's profile, but haven't received any response yet from either the dev or the apparently minimal player base.
Out of options, I started a whole new game with the intent to save up every red gem I could find so I could beat the third boss. With 7 gems, I was able to just barely beat this boss, but my frustration didn't end at this point as another "oddity" comes into play after a boss is beaten.
Once a boss battle is won, a paper scroll comes up on the screen with arrows on it. It took me a bit to figure out what this was, but after repeatedly getting tossed right back into boss battles, I figured out that you're supposed to use the appropriate key, d-pad or joystick to correspond to the direction that the arrow is pointing. However, I found that the last arrow in the sequence, a down facing arrow, wasn't registering when I'd point my left joystick (xbox360) down. I tried multiple times but was tossed back into the boss battle anyway. Again, I beat the boss, this time with 6 health points remaining, only to have the same game-breaking bug prevent me from progressing.
I don't see how I can possibly recommend a game that can't be completed. It's for that reason that I'm choosing not to recommend the game. The lack of developer feedback and support is disappointing, and I was surprised that I couldn't find a single guide or walkthrough anywhere.
Overall, the game has definite potential. With some rebalancing, fixing of bugs, and introduction of more items and content, this game could be great. I sincerely hope that the developer will put the necessary effort into these changes. I would gladly give the game another go at that point.
I had no expectations about this game, but after playing it for a few minutes I was hooked. The art style and music are very cool. While the game is relatively short, I'll admit I struggled to deafeat the bosses and had to take a few breaks. Overall I thouroughly enjoyed it.
After little red riding hood doesnt come home after sending her on her way to see her grandma. Its up to me to play as Wicce and find her. Has a very eery steampunk feel to it. I really like this little game, has a neat way of presenting itself and pretty solid fun game experience for a platformer. Even at regular price this game is a super bargain, money well spent! Very good game, I really enjoyed it.
Wicce is charming short platformer. The controls are solid and I didn't run into any bugs. The soundtrack and story are both good.
A pretty fun little platforming game that is easy to pick up and play, with good graphics and sound. It is not the hardest game in the world but I am frankly sick of games that kill you just to do it. Overall I like it and will play it more when I get some time.
Wicce is a short, linear platformer with a fantastic soundtrack. It has a simplistic plot told only with pictures, and a shallow combat system. The issue with controls earlier has been resolved as of writing this, they are now fluid and perfectly responsive.
A first playthrough might take around an hour if you spend time searching for the collectables. Levels are very brief, with a couple branching paths in each. Each boss only has a few patterns and you'll pick up more than enough healing items prior.
I greatly enjoyed Wicce for what it is, and for $5 I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys platformers.
Pros
- Spectacular soundtrack
- Beautiful visuals and artwork
- Tight controls
- Very easy to pick up and understand combat system
Cons
- Low/nonexistant replayability
- Super short
Edit: 5/13/2016
With the recent patch, a lot of the little problems with the game were fixed. The camera no longer jerks around when you change directions. It makes SUCH a huge difference. I really reccammend that you try the game now!
Wicce looks really cool at first glance. It does many things right as far as I'm concerned. The visuals are spot on, and I think the sort of 'puppet' style animations fit very well. Stylisticly Wicce is great. The soundtrack is really on-point, too. The soundscape provides a really nice atmospheric feel to the game, which I enjoyed.
The controls aren't great, but I didn't find the game unplayable because of them. I'd like to see some better support for customizing controls than is currently in-game.
Finally, despite all the positives, we get to the one big flaw--in my mind--with this game. The speed and camera. Having the camera shift to the left/right when you face a different direction with a platformer like this, where I'm constantly switching directions is disorienting as best. This, combined with the sheer speed at which the character moves across the screen, actually started to make me feel nausious. I often found that I couldn't track anything on the screen and it was just a blur. Yes, a 2d sidescroller gave me motion sickness.
I really suggest that, even though the camera makes -me- sick, that you give it a try. It's not a bad game, but it DOES need some fixes. Personally, I really hope that the creator addresses my concerns because I want to play the heck out of this game.
Pros:
+ Great Visuals
+ Great Audio
+ Cool Theme/Concept
+ Fun Combat
Cons:
+ Character moves too fast
