Not bad surf game. Not bad price. Graphics made by Unreal Engine. Before starting the game, on right hand side it has an option for "View Controller settings" Click on it and configure game pad. Worked like a charm. The game has training modes and various beaches including freesurf option and multiplayer.
Honestly, the keyboard controls and game play are incredibly aggravating. I really wanted to like it, because there's not much on offer in this category. Visually it's aight. But, it just isn't fun to play.
On launch, it dumps you into a surfer school tutorial kind of thing. The instructions are vague, especially if you don't understand surf lingo. When you mess up, the game loop of getting back up and trying again feels very slow. It's essentially a level restart every time you fail to hit the move it instructs you to perform. The camera feels like a spectator view, so it's hard to even see your character a lot of the time. I made it through about 5 moves into the school before I quit out and tried free surf for a few minutes. Again, the camera tracking feels wrong, and the wipeout-then-restart approach feels like way too long of a game loop to be enjoyable. It took about 5 minutes of that to just not ever want to play this again.
best surf arcade there is so far...
