This game is just amazing, I can't explain it just its awesome. 10/10, would play again
Short games like this are typically not the kind of experiences I find myself coming back to repeatedly. There's just not enough content, variety, mechanics, and so on to justify another playthrough when there's so many other games out there to play; so many games I payed good money for and haven't played. And while Katana Zero's mechanics are phenomenal, the reason I keep returning to it isn't the action, but the narrative. It's hard to put into words why the game's story is so catching, given how it uses it's disconnected and obtuse nature to it's advantage, but one thing it certainly excels at is being human. There's a scene on a rooftop with the protagonist talking to a child, and he drops what might be the deepest, most meaningful thing he says about himself throughout the whole game, and the kid just responds "Okay," followed by dead air for a couple seconds as they stare out into the city lights. It doesn't last long, but that moment is perfect, and this game is near perfect, so whether it be for the self made slow-mo action scenes, or the surprisingly excellent story, if it interests you at all you really should find the handful of hours it takes to play through this.

mechanically fun but it has gore and profanity. gore is not too bad and can be turnt off or picking up a secret sword that disguise blood as rainbow splatter
Absolute cinema, made me feel like I was suffering from drug withdrawls with all the twists and turns, or maybe it was the crack who knows any way by Katana Zero. ITS PEAK

it is short but it is also really fun and has a good story
This game is so good it single-handedly got me into game modding. I have learnt to reverse-engineer PE files and made an Italian translation for it. I think that warrants a positive review.
Fun game but controls are kinda trashy, also I play with a dual screen setup and fullscreen mode, and lots of times I die because the mouse takes you out of the screen like if you pressed Alt + Tab and you lose, pretty frustrating and you dont have to do a lot of movement to get out the screen, it happened to me in other games but here with minimal movement you are out.
A positive point is you can chose answers and get weird achievements, game is good but music is not as spectacular as some say, maybe they get a wrong idea about what a banger is.
Totally worth the price, game-play is smooth and addictive. It also has replay value.

This gets a huge recommendation for the soundtrack alone. But seriously the gameplay, story, and artstyle are all so fire dude. And incredibly short too. One of the sickest indie games out there.

This game is a masterpiece, one of the best, if not the best game I have ever played. The combat feels amazing, the stealth feels tense, and I can't even express how good the story is with words.

I thought this was just a Hotline Miami kind of game (ripoff) but the plot appealed to me very much. Gameplay-wise, you die after one hit and death is the integral part of your experience. Give it a shot.
Yea game is a BANGER. I think this game has a lot of character which is great. The story itself is really dark but it manages to balance it out with some genuinely charming dialogue that is funny but also makes the game feel more human. The gameplay is insta-death almost like celeste where you stages and you need to get through a section without dying, but the combat and movement feel sooo smooth and its really fun to try new methods to get through a level. The soundtrack in this game is fantastic, its up there for me with hotline miami and sets the tone for the game so well. I'm super glad I played it!
Brilliant gameplay with an engrossing story. I honestly thought the positive reviews were just due to it being a blast to play from a mechanical perspective but the story is wonderful. Played it in 1 sitting and I'll never forget it.

Gameplay excelso, soundtrack apabullante, historia fascinante. Cada apartado del juego cumple de sobra, es simplemente una obra magnífica que simplemente te deja con ganas de más. Esto es un pedido de auxilio, por favor ya saquen una continuación. Si no lo has jugado hazte un favor y disfrútalo, de paso hazme un favor y capaz con más gente que lo juegue, más obras podrá realizar el tremendo genio del autor.
Nota: el juego tiene varias mecánicas que lo hacen accesible, que no te intimide la dificultad, que tampoco es muy alta en normal.
A detalle
Parte de lo que me asombra tanto de este juego es el que sea casi mi favorito en todos sus apartados, es decir, que se acerque tantísimo a lo que yo he sentido como el "peak" de algún aspecto. Por ejemplo, el gameplay lo sentí casi tan bueno como el de Quadrilateral Cowboy (para mí el mejor), el combate casi tan bueno como en Lucah, el soundtrack fenomenal y el trabajo de Ludowic, que es quien hace buen cacho del soundtrack, es un trabajo increíble fuera de la escena del videojuego. La historia es casi tan buena como la de tu novela favorita. Es increíble cuando un juego entrega en todo por encima de la calidad esperado, por lo general siempre hay un característica en la que el juego flaquea.
Corto pero satisfactorio (y rejugable)
Para el juego base creo haber tardado unas 4h y con el final que es más largo. Justo ahí, con el hecho de que hay varios finales, la duración aumenta, además de que hay varios easter eggs y más cosas por desbloquear de lo que uno creería. También hay un "modo difícil", que es el mismo juego pero cambiando la distribución de los enemigos y agregando dos tipos nuevos que no aparecen en el normal. Además cuenta con un modo speedrun integrado el cual es bastante satisfactorio de probar dada la naturaleza del juego.
En general los logros y contenidos adicionales son de calidad, le añaden a la experiencia y son bastante buenos, además añaden vida al juego. También se supone que saldrá un DLC gratis que no sé si dará un cierra a la historia o será un tease para un futura secuela.
Historia
Te engancha como pericazo. La empiezas y no quieres acabar el juego rápido para poder disfrutarlo pero quieres ver cómo se desarrolla la historia, qué le ocurren a los personajes. Los giros que hay aquí son como en pocas cosas, nunca se sienten sacados de la manga y siempre apoyan la cohesión de la historia en lugar de lastimarla, no es exageración que no tiene nada que envidiar a la película del año en este apartado.
Juégalo, no hay razón que dicte lo contrario

Katana zero is the best. Say what you will but this game is the best hack and slash ive ever played with metal gear revengance being right next to it. The gameplay never gets old, the story is complex but really hooks you in, the visuals are stunning, and the dialogue is always interesting weather its talking to your therapist or flirting with the receptionist. This game is worth the $15 if you want a good story and love hack and slashes.
Very good gameplay, but the story is actually PEAK.
I don't like all the yapping, but it's largely skippable and the game play is obviously great so it gets a positive review. I do dislike that skipping the yapyaps seems to skip some extra objectives but whatever.
This is another indie gem that hooked me with its premise and got me to stick around with its story and gameplay (or execution of its premise). Being a samurai with time slowing powers in a game that begs you to memorize its levels and speed through it at mach 10 is very fun. I beat this game on switch and liked it so much I wanted to play on PC too. If this looks cool to you, that's because it is.
loved the visual art, ambiance and professionally designed graphic storytelling. combat flows fluently, story is creative and of extreme taste. spotted cute references to both big productions and other indie games. solid game.
I don't know how i haven't written this sooner. Katana Zero is as close as i have come to a perfect game. I have encountered no real bugs or jank just one of the most finely tuned game play i have experienced and a super compelling story to match. Outstanding music makes the whole thing a near perfect package. this game with its 250mb outclasses every AAA game i have played in the last 5 years hold for maybe Baldur's Gate 3
If you are reading this and haven't bought the game, please treat yourself to one of the best game's you can find. or if you already one it buy it for a loved one or an enemy

Amazing story, amazing gameplay, amazing music, amazing artstyle, not too hard, not too easy. Only complaint is thats its kinda short but its probably a blast to speedrun (there's a mode dedicated to that).

Yes, absolutely a masterpiece. You can have an excellent, clean-off and breathtaking fight (especially without using the bullet time), or just hang-around listening to its fabulous OST. Better use with Hotline Miami series and John Wick movies.
Still repeatedly playing this game while waiting for the DLC.

music isnt my favorite but its still relaxing and catchy, and the story and gameplay make it all come together nicely
First of all, my Steam time isn't accurate.
That's because I've mostly played this on my commute via Steam Deck in offline mode.
With that being said, I believe Katana Zero is a beautifully designed labor of love.
The animations ooze so much character and style that it's easy to forget you're playing a 2D pixel-art game.
Special shoutout to the text animations—truly genius design.
The Story
The story was gripping, though sometimes a little hard to follow.
Overall, it's engaging and the main reason I pushed through to the end.
The Gameplay
My biggest gripe with this game is, honestly, the gameplay. Maybe I just had the wrong expectations, but when I think of a "drugged-up killer with a katana", I imagine PURE SPEED.
The actual movement, however, feels slow and sluggish. I haven’t seen this mentioned in other reviews, but to me, the game felt slow.
By the end, this occasionally detracted from my experience.

An upcoming DLC that hasn't come out in years. Maybe it gets too big and become its own game, and not come out in the foreseen future. Sounds familiar? Silksong-virus spreads rapidly, make sure to stay safe.
Cyberpunk Ninja. You won't get a lot of play time, but you'll be obsessed.
H O L Y. I can't even begin to describe how good this game is. The story. The art. The music. The gameplay. Genuine 10/10, only issue is it ENDS ON A CLIFFHANGER ANHAHBAHBAHABH i need the dlc nowwwww :(
