The Last Heroes series continues with an installment in the same vein as Last Heroes 2. Once again returning heroes Amelia and Roland are joined by two new party members who are functionally equivalent to the ones from Last Heroes 1, the touch-based encounters are designed to be unavoidable, backtracking through dungeons is excessive, stock RPGMaker assets are used, and everything has a slapdash "There, I made an RPG. Can I go on lunch break now?" feel. Even the plot is re-used; once again, you ask around for the whereabouts of Amelia's mom without getting anywhere and fight some cultist for unexplored reasons. But there are a few differences.
The enemy encounters' movement on the overhead screen is generally a little slower, so it is at least possible to avoid them in many cases, though not all. The "escape" option in battle is again enabled. The backtracking is toned down a little, though it's still excessive. The final dungeon is normal length (as opposed to the ad nauseam 14 levels of the final dungeon in Last Heroes 2). A playthrough takes 4 hours, the same as the original Last Heroes, though that feels like it's also in part due to less story content. And this time the final boss is someone you've at least met before you fight him, though he doesn't have much in the way of motive or personality.
But these are minor improvements over an utter disaster, and Last Heroes 3 has its own set of problems. For instance, there's an absolutely confounding bug when approaching the end of one of the dungeons: normally, the cutscene fails to trigger, leaving you no way to progress through the game. The pathway forward widens slightly as you approach, and only by continually hugging the West side of the path can you make the cutscene trigger. How something like this could get past even the most rudimentary playtesting is beyond me.
Overall Last Heroes 3 is an improvement over Last Heroes 2, but still nowhere up to the sloppy standard set by the original Last Heroes, much less an RPG that stands out from the crowd. If you're one of the few who played and enjoyed Last Heroes 1 and 2 but haven't yet bought Last Heroes 3, well, it won't disappoint you. But if like me, you thought Last Heroes 2 was a serious misstep, rest assured that Last Heroes 3 doesn't bring the series back on track. And if you haven't played any of the series, I recommend that you either start with Last Heroes 1, or better yet, don't bother with the series at all.

RPG Maker strikes again!
Last Heroes 3 is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. And they put a cash money price tag on this. They want your money.
Last Heroes 3 is extremely poor quality and extremely lazy even compared to other RPG Maker asset flips. It's essentially a copy + paste of Last Heroes 2, with a couple of things changed, but that's it. And Last Heroes 2 was just a painfully generic, low effort copy + paste job itself, just filling out the templates in RPG Maker and pretending they're game developers because they used a construction kit.
As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development.
Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only appears around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
Gamers who want a good retro JRPG experience would be better off playing the originals, like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean or Chrono Trigger.

not good
+ Very interesting plot
+ Addictive atmosphere
+ Nice music
+ Excellent drawing
Just another RPG game that you should probably avoid.
rpgmaker.... repetable stories...
Oh my ♥♥♥♥ing god. This is by ♥♥♥♥ing far the greatest game in existence. The story is amazing, and I think the implimentation of real world dictators was a bold and interesting step. When Kanye West went up to Kim Jong Un and just hit him with that mf "Diamonds are forever" I was sold on the experience. On top of that, the game does a great job of mixing RPG elements with Racing game elements to make this unrealistic mind blowing game, that has never been seen before. And on top of all this, the game is 100% free. Never has a 4K game with such a new and interesting style been made so accessable to the population at large.
Thank you Todd Howard, for making Last Heroes 3

TLDR: More of the same stock asset bland vanilla RPGMaker stuff. This time the cliche is orphan protag wants to find mom. Probably finds she has a destiny later. Dont care.
The series is not improving at all from installment to installment. It is just the same copy pasted formula over and over again. Constantly rebooting your progress to level 1 to restart your grind and serving you a new fantasy trope/cliche.
Conclusion: At least I will not have to review the 4th one since I did not get that one through bundles. Good riddance to this series. Just spams your game collection with no real value or entertainment on offer. Really puts a dent in what little goodwill I had towards Ardorlea games that they would endore this. Removing local content permanently. The library clutter will not be missed.
Last Heroes 3 on steam is a videogame with limp strands of plant
derived gameplay that declines what i liked about the first 2 entrys
that came on board with a catchy storyline and seems like this
game was more copied into a paste bin of not trying hard or trying something
earnestly new!
Dont get me wrong its a RPG maker game that is fun to play
but never sorted out the builder of the 2 games i liked first that
gave us cool music to chill balanced through!
And this game is more of a sloppy mess and a cash in to grab roleplaying
gamers to make them play all the way to the looping end!
Im sorry i dont like this game and im going to be fair and honestly it gets a
7.6/10 pick up the other entrys and forget about this ultra mess of a dump
shroud of crap cakes love the burrito master
This seems like it would be the perfect game for me as it is the style and story I love the most. However, I have not been able to actually play it becuase of one very big down fall (at least big for me). The game controls are made for right handed people and I can't find any way to change them. I'm a very left handed person and playing a game entirely with my right hand is not something I am capable of.
Despite being the third game in the series, Last Heroes 3 lacks polish and has several novice mistakes. I didn't come in this game expecting a masterpiece whatsoever, but honestly, it was worse than I expected.
- It was nothing memorable except that finishing this game really just felt like a chore. There is even a point where. bosses run out of MP. Once that happens, the game becomes an enter button-mashing fest (because the last four bosses including the final boss don't attack anymore if they run out).
- Battles are mostly either Amelia attacking all the enemies while the others can target only one (or two/three random enemies in the case of Darwin, and thankfully they all do eventually get skills at attack all enemies) and in some cases, Clair using the heck out of Recover, or mass attacking and mass healing, while Roland is Weapon, Armor, and Spirit Cursing, making the boss' stats a joke while exhausting their MP.
- Some events don't even occur even if you reach the area of the event itself (includes the final dungeon), which can be fixed with an event copy and paste in the game's engine, RPG Maker VX.
- Enemies can corner you tightly and at some cases, makes running away impossible even if you did so in-battle. The enemy sprites are still even trying to approach and attack you during major cut scenes, another sign of a lack of polish.
- The environments feel generic and feel like they're pretty much identical, except with different tile sets, the dungeons just feel like they've been made by the random generator, and the story and characters were bland, with the former also being pointless because Amelia's mother wasn't even in the continent.. It was mostly going to point A to point B with not much interesting with characters who have uninteresting dialogue. The story is literally just doing random quests just to know the prison's location, and then one of the quest givers becomes a villain just comes in the end because... he wanted them to die while doing the quests?
[*]However, the music was nice (even if there was quite a bit of reusing which while makes it repetitive, I don't really mind), and at least it was a decent time waster when I needed a break, but those don't really mend a bit of this game's fatal flaws.
I know that this game is a budget title, so quality like this might be expected. I wouldn't care much about the bland world if at least felt a bit fun and polished, which it wasn't. With all the flaws piling up, even with the game's price dropping so low during a sale (bought it during the Autumn 2017 Sale), I still can't recommend it.
RPG Maker can really make something worthwhile if a lot of heart is put into it, but this just feels very lazy and rushed.
I LIKE THIS WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Another rpg maker game but this one has a decent story telling script to it.
i would say 4.5 / 5
seemed shorter the previous one, but enjoyable,
One of the better RPG Maker games out there, reminds us all of Dragon Warrior!
Now the erstwile pair have made it to Memoro, in search of Amelia's mother and the prison she is supposed to be being held in. More adventures await, and perhaps the tale will reach its end.
The Trading Cards are nice, though I do wish there were some achievements to go along with them. These type of games seem better when you can get recognition for any progress you've made.
Bought for cards to level up
Straight up copy n' paste of Last Heroes 2 with a pointless story.
- Uses default RPG Maker VX assets, like Last Heroes 1 & 2
- 2 side quests like the last game
- You go thru the whole dungeon, walk back out to the city only to find out you have to go all the way back to the end of the dungeon to fetch an item, then come back out again... Just like the last game
- You find two new heroes, just like the last game
- You do a whole bunch of stuff for nothing, since the prison is not on this continent, like the last game
- Enemies chase you off like mad rabbits, exactly like the last game
- When you reach the end of the dungeon, there's talk then the boss comes out of nowhere, in every dungeon, like the last game
- Please Raphael Delmaschio, finish this series off and move on with your life, pretty please no more games from you.
Alright, so we're not in massive innovation of the genre territory here, but like the previous two parts of Last Heroes, it's a nice, basic RPG with minimal grinding/tedium and an enjoyable story. This one, like the others will last 6-8 hours so you don't have to commit half a month to it. My only gripe is that every time you start a new part/game in the series the characters start right back at level 1 with no gear or money from the previous adventure and no explaination as to why. A shame really as it means there's no incentive to develop the characters any futher than needed to beat the final boss as you know it's all going to be for naught when Last Heroes 4 comes out.
