Abandoned, dude is Russian, so probably either dead or drafted. RIP
Bought this game back when it was only a dollar and I'm honestly shocked that it's been developed as recently as 2023. I pop on the game every once in a while on this account and my other one and it isn't half bad. It's pretty good for what is. And I mean, 1.49 back in 2016 for this? I'd take that anyday. It can get confusing to craft certain things but you'll get the hang of it eventually
if you will fix screen resolution to full screen i dont like old fashion square screen i like my wide screen stretch it out to fit
full world crafting game lil old fashion on controls but do able
All the item descriptions says "in progress". Have to go to the forums to figure out how to eat.
Single-player game has no pause feature. One manual save slot, that the game will overwrite whenever it wants. Not worth the 2.49€ I've spent on it. Not wasting any more time on it.
i love the game! very fun , crafting system is amazing! i just hope they come back to to game[. GM] it really a great concept for a game!
Honestly, he game can be fun for awhile, god knows ive played enough to get my moneys worth, however i wouldnt recommend buying the game anymore since it seems that its no longer being developed as there hasnt been an update release in over a year. So to sum up, good game but devs have gone silent and seemingly stopped developing(edit: yeah im more convinced that this game has been entirely abandoned.)
This is an abandoned game that's actually in beta status. This is an unfinished game. There is no reason to play it. Believe me. :-(
Game needs some work - but ok. Noticed a bug where your inventory follows you to a new game.
But tried on a new macbook pro - will not even launch.
a good fitting survival game, filled with recipes and things to build. Dynamic features, good coop and a good atmosphere, fun addictive game i rate 9/10 oranges
Bought this today and not stopped playing it.Some very minor glitches but nothing the devs can't iron out in future updates.
Paid £3 for it so expected it to stink with it being a survival game but was I surprised.
This has real potential and would urge anyone to give it a go at this price.
It is in my opinion very refreshing and enjoyable game if you don't want the grind of Subsistence but something more than Minecraft.
If updates keep coming regularly then I can see this being one of my favourite not too hard to play survival games 8/10.
Avoid at all costs.
With bugs and lacking features for years, along with extremely weird balancing, it's really sad to see an otherwise cool little survival game shoot itself like StarsOne does. It's all very bizarre.
Even though many features and UI are clunky, you can see that hours of work were put on the game.
However, some weird issues hang around that make you question the reasoning behind it:
- The game has been pretty much the same for years, yet bugs reported 2-3 years ago still persist.
- Balancing makes everything ridiculously expensive, taking hours to achieve anything of value. And what is achieved is hugely underwhelming. There's no reason for the crazy balancing.
- Sometimes you may spend a long time in order to build a machine or some item, only to discover it's worthless or broken. Greenhouses and AutoFarms are an example which have been reported and complained about since, at least, 2019.
- The game progression relies on a finite resource (Diamonds) and, once you run out of it (which is pretty easy to happen), your progression is either hardlocked (requiring a restart), or slows down to an absolute crawl as you wait for that resource to be gathered.
- Multiplayer mode doesn't share progression between players (Research progress), meaning you have to spend 2 (or more) times the barely-available limited resource to advance everyone's game, which could quickly lead to hardlocking your save.
- Simply walking on mountains can kill you due to absurd fall damage, enemy mobs that make no sound and have no cooldown on their attacks can quickly approach and insta-kill you before you knew what happened.
- Bizarre ideas such as very expensive land vehicles (which serve the purpose of just lowering travel time to a nearby resource spot by a few seconds) and a very expensive VTOL aircraft (that only serves the purpose of slowly flying to a nearby tiny island that has nothing on it) makes you think whether the game is not just a big trolling prank.
[*] The game is lacking the obvious Early Access label. Therefore, both its short description and full store description can be taken as weird, blatant false advertising.
The game could still be salvaged if the whole progression is taken down nearly 5 times the resource costs (or production times made nearly 5 times faster).
However, with the artificial "difficulty" given by the terrible balancing, the lacking of any exploration or challenge features (such as dungeons, enemy bases, etc.), the other issues mentioned above AND more, it's just not worth even expecting it.
I hate to say things like this, but there's little reason to play StarsOne instead of modded Minecraft. The game is nearly a broken, shallow copy of the experience of playing with certain tech mods - except it lacks a ton of the mods' features, and all the other features expected from a survival game.
For a similar graphical-looking game, there's Empyrion.
I've kept the game on my wishlist for years hoping it would, one day, get made...but it seems like that day isn't coming.
really good game love it, its lots of fun even got my partner into it and i have one problem F1 for help needs help you go to look for something to make create or what it does and sometimes its there and other times its not. One suggestion fill in the item description so people can see what you had in mind for the item
I played this game and Rising World. Starsone has taken a top down approach which means there a many things to craft which goes from the primitive to the future. However, much of the operational aspects of the game are simplified while the designers concentrate on expanding the craftable items. For example, you mine all your minerals at the beginning of the game buy hitting a large black rock with a pickaxe. After a few wacks all the minerals are yours for the taking. Did not have a single failure playing the game. The game seems unstarted however since the game mechanics seem to have been skipped to generate the scope of the game. Found rising world much more enjoyable because of its bottom up approach. Believe Starsone will be a great game when it is finished but right now it seemed to me I was playing the outline of a game rather than the game itself. I am keeping the game because it shows great promise. I recommend this game if you want to be part of the beta process it has a fantastic scope.
Review 2020.09.30
Changed to "recommended"
The Savebug is still there but I find a way around it
1.) For me it is related to the energy network
2.) If I only remove a part of the wires or 1 battery -> next save crashes
3.) If I remove ALL wires and connectors and batteries and replace then -> save works!
4.) I organiezed my solar panels in rows of 10
5.) All solars have connector on them
6.) each row of 10 solars is connected and last goes to battery
I will have an eye on that :D
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I stumbled over this game while browsing off the beaten path
It was cheap and had not many negativ reviews
CONTRA
* Game crashes UI when saving
sometimes you can save a few times
sometimes it crashes on 1st save
You need to kill the task to restart
All progress is lost! Highly annoying!
* many parts of the game are unfinished
* there is no tutorial
* There are no good guides - I was puzzled how to build a solar panel
* there is an ingame help but most entries are "not yet finished"
* there is no active community in the forums
* Abandonware! Game unfinished. There are no updates anymore.
Last Update: Beta 22.02.2020
PRO
* it basicly works to some degree
* it was very cheap
Save-Bug is currently solved for me. I will now test autosave again...
Buy when on Sale and only if you are patient person and really really really want to try this!
It's a nice game, I loved to play it. But however, since last update (Beta 22.02.2020) it is not playable anymore.
Once you have set a couple of power line poles it starts behaving strange and you can't save anymore.
I have contaced the programmer, he claimed to have fixed that, but with no success, this error is still there.
Before the last update I would give it a thumps up, but now I have to give a thumps down.
So far, I've only played single-player mode, so I can't tell you anything about the multiplayer experience.
For single-player mode, I can tell you this:
I've paid more money for worse games. It's not terrible, but...
You will NOT explore any randomly generated planets, other than the same on you started out on.
You CAN build and upgrade devices and ultimately build land vehicles or an air vehicle (no boats), but then you discover the only place to explore is the island you started out on.
You won't go into space.
After the vehicles are built, you're done.
There are no disappeared pilgrims or other crew members to locate. They don't exist.
No settlement to protect and restore. It doesn't exist.
There IS a crashed space vessel. Once you've built a flying vehicle, you can go look at it.
You will NOT explore outer space or go to any other planets. Space ships and other planets don't exist.
You might conduct trade, plant colonies, and explore other planets, but if you do, it won't be on this game.
Although the building aspect is actually pretty nice, gameplay is quite limited.
I saw no threats, other than forgetting to eat or drink, fall damage, or getting hit by trees as you chop them down.
I've seen no zombie/aliens, although they are turned on.
Like so many other indie games, it has "potential", but it's not something I'd reccomend to friends.
Got this from a friend purley for Coop and coop was removed shortly after. Like seriously? Don't list a game saying there is coop then remove it after hundreds of coop players bought it. False advertising BS. I refuse to hamachi my games, so don't bother telling me to use that workaround. When or if they bring coop back maybe ill change the review, but for now, I will not recommend this game because it is just flat out boring alone.
So far, little to NO BUGS!!! Awesome job!!!
Very playable. I like the fact you can collect resource very quicly and pretty much start buidling right away.
Some minor bugs. Super Minor...
- When the tree falls you can see through the bottom of the tree.
- Getting surface ore is nice but it does not regenerate. However, there is Iron veins. So Kudos!!!
- So far the game is coming alone nicely, I will be working on vehicles later on.
Great game! Loved it more than ARK. I just loved crafting stuff to make a living, in a secluded area. Grew some plants, made tools... You start off at a basic - wooden house, basic crafting table... and move on to Stone/Metal and eventually modern technology. I've yet to play multiplayer, but I enjoy taking a break from RL, and living in a new world.
5/5
A one man developer game, actually in alpha ( pre alpha state ) meaning that can be long before the game is completed. In the curent state its playable, keyboard can be configured. Graphics are good enough but nothing more. No story, only building blocks with few 'space alien zombies' and world generation is 3 kind of islands : small / normal / big. Ive played Feed the beast ( minecraft ) in the past and some machine craftings remembered me that. Geothermal generator, furnace, electrolyzer, crusher and more. Since there is no wiki at the moment I had to learn by myself and its not really complicated at all ( basic survival games ) except I encountered 2-3 things that I have no idea of the purpose. I paid 8,79 CND ( 20% off 10,99 CND) good price for a early acces, already 36 hours in it and cant wait to see more updates.
My FPS was 59-60 on a i7 3820 3.60 GHz / 16 Go ram / NVidia Geforce GTX 760
-Vsync = every VBlank
-anti aliasing = off
-texture quality = fullres
-texture anisotropic = disable
-reflection quality = middle
-shadow resolution = medium resolution
-shadow distance = medium (112)
-grass density = medium (50%)
-grass distance = medium (112)
-weather max particules = medium (56)
Its actually not bad! Needs better walk speed and a (small) tutorial but mostly it runs good and is playable (haven´t gotten very far yet thou will update once I do)
Edit: Played some more and this game realy got some potential! I can´t wait for a multiplayer serverlist, this should be great fun in multiplayer, especially if the thing with the credits works because I can imagine some people will want to trade items and specialize production and maybe even make little shops to sell their products... a RP server for this game would be kinda epic... hope the devs stay with it because in the long run, this could become something special, it has that potential!
