Classic tactical game that still stands up today.
Game suffers from a very annoying audio bug on modern hardware that causes static and clipping to be heard fairly regularly during dialogue, although it's not really noticeable during combat. There are some supposed fixes out there but none of them worked for me, the game is otherwise fantastic and I personally think it's still very much worth playing. Your best bet is to turn the music off and lower the sfx and speech volumes a few notches, that tends to make the issue a little easier to live with.
I played this game a bunch as a kid and got the itch to come back to it, and I'm glad I did because there isn't really any other game like it, it's sort of like Brothers in Arms without the shooter component and set in a pseudo Iraq War. The Four F's of combat apply here "Find, Fix, Flank, Finish." Levels are almost like puzzles in that sense, and it can be very rewarding when you get through one without making any mistakes.
Aged remarkably better than I thought it would, and the controls on PC are a bit easier than the original Xbox. Fun overall game with a great concept for small unit infantry tactics that, with polish, would make an outstanding genre. That being said, gameplay can be frustrating at times because your soldiers are complete idiots a lot of the time. I don't know what they think the RoE are here, but it should be if they've got a gun and aren't NATO then shoot them! Lots of times they'll walk around corners right into enemy gunfire and not do anything about it, so be prepared for a lot of saves loaded lol. Still a fun game, and the first real entry in this genre. HOOAH!
A golden oldie that still holds up with the game play today, a tough little 3rd person squad based shooter. Any fans of the Rainbow 6: Vegas games should take a look at this one.
The graphics are still workable even if the resolution doesn't go above 1080, sound can be an issue though so set the volume levels down a little.
The biggest issue is that it is not controller supported so you'll need that keyboard/mouse combo, strange as the I originally played this on the Xbox so unclear why controller support isn't a thing.
Good game to feel what urban combat was like in early 2000s . There is no manual control of one single soldier, you have to manage two squads. The key feature of this game is the fire superiority system.
Good games, really enjoyed it, you can't rush it AAA++
I used to play this on the OG XBOX, when controller had the black and white button instead of the R1/L1 bumpers.
The Full Spectrum Warrior games have a unique gameplay mechanic that I can only describe as an ''over the shoulder, tactical, real-time game?''
I've been trying for years to find something similar, with no luck. The closest I can compare is maybe XCOM.
This is good for people who also don't enjoy super fast paced shooters, as it allows you to carefully move your teams through a hostile environment.
Been loving this and Ten Hammers since the OG XBOX and will always recommend.
