Navigate miles and miles of tyre changing, fuel burning, carburettor busting, mud clattering terrain, through night and day, rain and shine. Adapt to whatever the procedurally generated world of Jalopy can throw at you.
Upgrade, maintain and care for your Laika 601 Deluxe motor vehicle. Keep close attention to everything from the state of your tyres, the condition of your engine and even the space in your trunk. Repair each aspect of your scrappy little car and install unique upgrades to deal with the changing world. Everything from cargo weight to the condition of your carburettor will determine how your car performs on the open road.
The rise of capitalism brings an economical conundrum. Scavenge for scraps to make a small return of investment, or become a baron of the open road and smuggle contraband under the eyes of border patrols to make a sizable profit.
Developer Greg Pryjmachuk worked on the Formula 1 franchise from 2009 through to 2014. In late 2014, Greg began work on this new driving simulation featuring the fictional Laika 601 Deluxe car; reminiscent of the East German “Trabbie”, it will need much love and care to keep it going on this memorable road trip!

good game
worth it if it's on sale for less than 3$
It's honestly, a simple but great game. Although, I wouldn't recommend buying it if not in promotion.
Honestly love the game, i find it quite relaxing and nice to just drive trough the calm roads, specially in the rain. And for so, i would love if the game had more content, so you could enjoy more time in it.
It is good, but not perfect. It has some bugs that are really annoying and I hate that it asks you to choose a language every time you start the game or Save & Quit (Which I need to do in order to go back to the menu and adjust some video settings).
THIS GAME IS FULL OF GLITCHES YOU REALLY CAN'T FINISH THE GAME
need more games like this
I`ve got a huge nostalgia from this games, so I had to buy it event reading all the reviews saying the game is a buggy mess.
Well, for no surprise, it actually is a buggy mess. I really trying playing it, tried to ignore some game breaking bugs, like my wallet being erased from existence, the car making griping from nowhere and some others (i only played 2 hours lol. But then, sudently, out of literally nowhere, the car glitched into something and broke all it`s components. And this after already restarting the game.
In conclusion, if you want to play the game just to revive the nostalgia like me, or to try something new.
Just don`t.
While i wouldnt get it at full price, i would at a discount
the game is about a you and optionally your uncle going to your homeland of turkey from the GDR
its buggy, but wasnt too bad for me
amazing soundtrack tho
Way to buggy where it's almost unplayable, hardly any content and hasn't been updated in years
So... Flipped cars... That's something that exists commonly in the old Soviet state I guess
The game is too buggy, you can't fix it when you want. I Paid for the game to work without any bugs and errors. I am not satisfid with the necklace, fix it as soon as possible.
I like the concept a lot but the mechanics are kind of terrible. constantly misclicking things, dropping things, using the wrong item, etc.etc.
things like if you drop your money when you're in the store, it teleports back to the car, but you can't leave the store without paying, so if your car is outside the shop border, you have to start your sale all over again.
or if you click the cash register with the gas can you own and just filled, you don't PAY for the gas, you SELL the gas can for half of its value. you have to click with your wallet to pay for it. (but to buy the gas can in the first place, you DO click the cash register with it.) meanwhile it's tricky to tell which even is your active item since they are all held right in front of you; only the right-most one counts but that is really easy to mess up.
or if you're walking to the next gas station, and you brought your wallet, but you DROP your wallet, well it teleports all the way back to your car, so you have to walk all the way back for it, just from one misclick.
and that's if you're lucky and your wallet is actually in the car when you get back to it. at least once, my wallet just disappeared.
meanwhile the game does not tell you how you're supposed to survive or how you're supposed to afford anything. maybe I could figure that part out but everything is so clumsy and you're just burning through money figuring simple things out.
if you have the patience maybe you could enjoy it anyway but it will take a lot of it.
Its good, glitches kinda suck but thats aight.
Jalopy has a great idea at its core. Jalopy is made by a single guy. These are the things you keep telling yourself as the game keeps breaking your heart.
There are senseless design choices, like having to carry your wallet but being unable to put it down (it teleports to your car).
There is a general lack of soul despite the idea presenting great opportunity for it. You are going on an adventure but it mostly all looks and feels the same. The radio could have been a great way to introduce some soul, see the tv and radio in Tostchu for an example.
There are also a hell of a lot of bugs. I really wanted to see the end of the story despite it all. As a Turkish man living abroad, it felt familial and like a personal quest to finish uncle's journey. But the ending bugged out, and it turns out its not a failure that only I have experienced. Do i want to keep driving between Bulgaria and Turkey to spawn a buggy quest item? Do you?
It's a fun little game
The would be good , but there are too many bugs
Jalopy is a quirky road-trip adventure where every sputter and creak feels like a wink from the universe. It might not have you laughing uncontrollably, but its offbeat charm and unexpected detours keep things interesting—even if, god forbid, all your tires pop mid-drive and you have to start over from scratch. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Espantoso
Amazing game
this game is awful why my items delete after using the motel
A buggy mess with clunky, inaccurate controls. You'll be constantly handbraking yourself whenever you're trying to just switch the radio or lights on, and uncle's dialogue will keep taking away control from you. If you're lucky like me you can have it completely disable your controls permanently in your save.
I tried to like this game, since the art style is nice, and the little tidbits about each country you're passing through are interesting. I'm also a sucker for driving games with simple maintenance, which is what drew me in. But I just didn't enjoy my time.
If you're looking for a game like this, one of your options is Under The Sand. If you don't need an in-game economy, you could also check out The Long Drive. Some people also recommend My Summer Car, but keep in mind that one is also rather clunky, and the maintenance aspect is way more in-depth.
love the game, the bugs can be handful and in all honest it drags it out but if you relax, calm down and just enjoy the game for what it is bugs and flaws and all it's a good game and has far more potential then it looks can't wait to see more
chill game
Of course, at first glance, this game is BLOODY AWFUL but when you start to progress it's actually quite fun!
I can only assume this game has gotten worse over time. "Mostly Positive" is not even close to how I would describe this. I restarted my save file 4 times because of game breaking issues like vehicles flipped over on the road I couldn't pass or the boarder crossings not accepting the passport.
Got bored, had money, bought game. This is literally a driving game where it requires patients and time. You'll have fun if you like driving long distances, minor car mechanics, and robbery.
chill game
Another excellent reason why Steam should regularly delete games that receive no updates and where the developers obviously do not work on them anymore
Jalopy is nothing short of an unfinished buggy mess, no amount of mods, no amount of goodwill and no amount of nostalgia can justify this dumpsterfire.
I went to bed, the whole car was entirely broken, windows smashed, all parts burning up, gas station did not sell these parts, either way, not enough money, so only option is to start over, for an error I have no part in
bought a crowbar, crowbar glitched and was not accessible anymore, money wasted, item glitched
just...just no, the audacity to ask for 15 bucks for this traffic accident of a game is just beyond me, I even refunded it on sale for 3 bucks because I at least expect the product that I am paying for to function rudimentarily in ANY way, which this pile 'o junk does not
took me 18 mins to get softlocked, didnt even get past the first border. i know this game is dead, but i still try to play it again every year or so. dont buy this game, unless you know what youre getting into.
dogshit unfinished game. fully fixed up my car, and went to bed at a motel. woke up and car was entirely broken, and i'm out of repair kits so it's softlocked. this is only on day 3. do not buy this unfinished mess.
This is a great game... but sadly its been forgotten by time and its developer. i got it for myself because it was a part of my childhood, watching other youtubers play it and its artstyle. i love it.
I don't recommend it since its forgotten, old, unoptimized, clunky and... charismatic. its hard for me to hate this game, i love it. But its even harder to call it good or perfect, sometimes i wish it could be diferent, but sadly thats not the case.
NOTE BEFORE PURCHASE:
This game is abandoned and has an absurd amount of bugs.
The game has a great vibe to it, and great attention to detail. Each country you pass through has its own brand of each good. The car feels fun to maintain and upgrade. I just wish the radio had more variation, really.
The biggest problem is the copious amount of bugs. I write this review as I'm forced to stop leaving Hungary due to the world no longer generating and leaving a sheer edge that drops you into the void (Notably, I've previously managed to get through this section).
Mirrors are buggy as they show terrain unload around you.
The game is unpolished, but the gameplay alone I can recommend.
Incredible game, even the glitches are fun to play with. maxing out everything is very fast and the achivements are hell grind if done legit lel
i like , butt where the upgrade or update
can you add more contnet
wine smugling sim
jkes
Jalopy is a simple multi-country road trip simulator. It doesn't have a crazy in-depth or difficult to understand car building system, but enough features to build your jalopy up and customize it to your liking. The challenge more comes from each country's terrain, road conditions, and your own planning. You'll need to find items on the side of the road to sell, take apart junk cars to salvage parts, and maybe even smuggle banned items into countries for money. It's rather quaint and over all a very chill game most of the time.
I've played it off and on for a few years and 'beaten' it more than once. I will be blunt and say that you should buy it only on sale.
Jalopy is not a finished game despite being out of early access. It cuts off abruptly (you can still play but it's obvious more was planned) and the publisher does not have interest in continuing its development. There are bugs with the physics at times, the journey itself can quickly become boring and frustrating if things go wrong, and like I said there's an obvious cut off where it ends. They're all things that dampen the experience, but it's still a nice experience. Just not worth the current regular asking price.
Fun road trip relaxing and senic with good car customization.
This game holds a special place in my library. It‘s a great little indie Game made by passionate devs. A very, very specific setting and also specific car, but also unique gameplay. For most this is just a very odd game they wouldn‘t but, but I really recommend anyone to check it out if you are into some casual driving with a lumpy, old Duroplast car through Soviet Europe with some quirks. I highly recommend to check Miniskworks out for their other game called „Landlord super“ and other to be released titles.
Decent game even in 2025
Nice
it manages to be fun even with it's mundane gameplay. sometimes there are bugs which break the game.. but this game was made by 1 person, so i can't judge.
The bones of a great driving survival roguelike are there. But just the bones.
Long abandoned, for reasons unclear, as was their next game (Land Lord's Super). Now it seems like they're trying to recycle Jalopy into a "new" game called Honcho. There's an irony that they keep making ramshackle games about ramshackle topics.
Don't buy any Minskworks stuff. They don't deliver.
Chill game but you still have ambitions to fullfill there:)
azsxdfcghj,
I'm feeling mixed about this game overall.
Pros:
Fun game play.
-Easy to run on most computers.
-Great for car enthusiasts.
Cons:
-Terrible traffic mechanics: I was 12 kilometers from a checkpoint and had to restart my entire 450-kilometer journey—only for the same issue to happen again.
-Random explosions: Occasionally, your car's durability will drop from whatever state it was in to zero instantly, for no apparent reason.
Aside from these issues, it’s a solid game. Unfortunately, I feel it’s overpriced for what you’re getting—but that’s just my opinion.
Happy hunting!
i would thumbs up this but the publisher are blocking the dev from updating this
Do not buy this game, it's unfinished (or at least very unpolished) and no longer being worked on.
That said, it's got some cool ideas and I did like it a lot, but all the problems I had with the game are never going to get fixed or improved.
You can play it through to completion, so in that sense it's "finished". However you'll run into game breaking bugs and a general lack of polish.
A good gamed marred by its somewhat incomplete and buggy existence. As far as I can tell unfortunately this game is never going to receive any further updates. Something apparently occurred between the publisher and developers and now the devs are no longer allowed to work on the game further.
Authentic Trabant user experience. Fittingly it begins in a junk yard.
There is something philosophical about getting emotionally attached to an objectively terrible machine. It sucks, but it gets you there if you treat it right. It's almost cozy.
Very barebones, but the core gameplay loop works well.
