Описание

"Long, long ago, the elven sorcerers cast a spell to save the floating world of Ara Fell from destruction. Instead, they doomed it to fall from the sky. By chance, the fate of the world has been placed in the hands of a young woman. Join her as she and her friends endeavor against all odds to save their homeland, all while the clock ticks ever nearer the final hour..."

Ara Fell combines the best parts of Japanese-style roleplaying games with the best parts of western RPGs, as well as including elements of visual novels and adventure games to create a truly unique experience. Atmosphere, emotion and surprise lie at the forefront of Ara Fell's story, driven by deep and accessible characters, each with his or her own past, their own desires and their own motivations for joining Lita's quest. Relive the golden age of the RPG with a game that both pays homage to the past greats, as well as blazing its own trail.

The new Enhanced Edition features a slew of upgrades, including a revamped battle system, new character classes and skills, new side quests, an overhauled UI, upgraded crafting system, new enchanting system, enhanced aspect ratios, new difficulty modes, an autosave feature, Twitch integration, and more!

  • EXPLORATION - Ara Fell is a world meant to be explored! Jump, crawl, swim and even fly through the air to solve puzzles and discover new locations filled with hidden treasure, secrets and adventure! Every corner of Ara Fell is designed with exploration in mind.
  • OPEN WORLD - Most of the world can be explored from the moment you leave Aloria Village, the heroine's home town... provided, of course, you're strong enough. A clever explorer may be able unlock secrets and discover powerful equipment early in the game if he or she commits to taking advantage of the open nature of the game world.
  • TACTICAL COMBAT - Ara Fell may be a story-heavy game, but the world is still fraught with danger. Choose specialized equipment and statistics, customizing each character to best suit your play style, and to best thwart each boss battle's unique mechanics.
  • CHARACTER DRIVEN - When you join Ara Fell's unwitting heroine on her quest to save her homeland, you'll discover a world filled with vibrant characters who laugh, cry, crack jokes, lose their tempers, and even their will to go on as the size and scope of the curse that plagues Ara Fell becomes apparent. Friends and villains alike are not who they seem as the stakes grow ever higher...

Ara Fell is the most enjoyable Rpg Maker game that I have ever played.

Pros:
+Very good music and a deep story.
+Best design maps with full of details.
+There are a lot of hidden paths in the game.
+Explore every place and find variety loots.
+Upgrade equipment and skills.
+It's not difficult to reach level 50 or more.

I played it twice. Now I have got all achievements. The final Expert mode is not very hard.

An absolutely beautiful, well-made RPG game. Beautiful story and absolutely stunning music by Louise Heaney.

If you like old-school RPGs, this is well worth yout time and money.

This was my first RPG. I'm apparently bad at these.

After 10 hours, things were starting to get a little difficult. It was a lot of fun trying to do well.
After 15 hours, I was getting stuck in places because every random creature was like a 'boss-fight.' I had to come up with weird play-patterns to barely get through mini-bosses and play perfectly just to survive. Still lots of fun.
At the 20 hour mark, I discovered you can upgrade weapons, by gear, craft items/consumables, level up abilities, etc.
The rest of the game was a lot easier, and still fun, but I missed a LOT of content because I skipped over so much of the 'progression feel' part of the game.

I then played through the first 10 hours again to feel what the game flow was 'supposed' to be like.
That was fun too.

This is a great RPG to get into as a beginner. The numbers and skill trees and equipment aren't as absurd as many other games that go way over the top in complexity. The story isn't full of twists and turns but it's plenty clever enough to enjoy the way it's put together and appreciate while navigating it. The story and world are both a bit open to explore while still stream-lined enough to keep things within certain bounds so it doesn't get either lost in aimlessness or railroaded to the point. The characters have lots of interactions to get to know them, with a few cinematic moments well-done with great pixel art.
Naturally, some more things would've been nice. Maybe a few more twists in the story-line, which was already solid from a writing perspective given the story it was trying to tell and how it affected the characters and world. Maybe more time to build on the depth of the relationships, which were all solid in their short time, from the sassy banter to the romances to the growth.

But even if more would've been good, as it is, it's excellent.
If you or someone you know is looking to 'get into' RPGs or give one a try, this is 100% a place I'd recommend.
I can see this game being fun for experienced players too, as a fun 30-40 hour adventure with some funny and intense stuff in nice supply.
But when you consider that Ara Fell's ideal target audience/niche in terms of the gaming audience, it's the perfect fit.
Well done. Well done. :)

Did I enjoy this game? I certainly did, but I wouldn't expect most people to play it the way I did. That said, it also seemed sort of flawed/incomplete to me - but a lot of this was definitely subjective, so other people would have different opinions on this.

The good: the battle mechanics were the best part of the game for me. There are multiple ways to build your characters, and personally I played this as a "number go up: the game" power fantasy, where everyone had 100% crit rate, more than 50% evasion rate, etc. I'm sure that was not the intended way (rather, one character is meant to be the tank, another a healer, etc) - but the game didn't prevent me from playing it that way, so mad props for that.

The not so good: well, there are several things - nothing major or game-breaking, just stuff that stood out to me and added up after a while. The rest of this review is all a rant about minor things.

The skill upgrades and class changes always require you to choose between 2 options without having enough information - and the choice is permanent. This may not be immediately obvious, because the confirmation prompt is just "are you sure?" - which is exactly the same as what you get when assigning stat points, except that choice is reversible! Hell, one class change happens upon entering an area and is then immediately followed by a boss battle, so you better be happy with the choice you made (with absolutely incomplete information) - or have some earlier saves handy.

The plot is... ok. I did think that three "oh, character A is actually a member of race X!!" reveals were so heavily telegraphed that at least one of them was bound to be a subversion, but nope, they just really were that obvious (and then one of these was actually done twice).

More to the feeling of the game being incomplete - there are many houses, but many of them have nothing to interact with. Many bookshelves, but there are like 5 books in that whole world, I'm not even kidding - and you'll find them all in the starting town. Then it's extra funny when there are TWO places with libraries, and... yeah, they just have those same 5 books too.

One quest had exactly ONE thing to do to complete it - defeat a character for a bounty. But for some reason, there's a dialog branch that goes like this: "oh, would you like to join me? Then you'll need a fitting outfit, come talk to me again when you have it". Naturally, this just creates confusion because there is no such outfit or anything like it in the game, and you're just supposed to ignore that conversation and attack the character instead! And the only way to find that out was from a spoiler-marked answer from developers directly, here on Steam - apparently they did have thoughts to have more content/options later, but that never materialized... which is totally understandable, but again, developers leaving stubs and dead ends like that just made the game feel incomplete.

Man I really enjoyed this game.

Would have played it sooner but unfortunately this game flew under my radar for a long time.

Really enjoyed the story, the beautiful pixel art and the music which despite being a little repetitive throughout the game was still very nice and added a layer of wonder to this world and it's people.

I'd love to see this game get a sequel one day, imo it absolutely deserves one.
Great game, highly recommend.
Especially to people who enjoy classic 16-32bit era J/RPG's to which this game pays much homage to.

I really wish there was a Mixed option for judging games, because I don't hate this game. Granted, I have no clue how I got Ara Fell in my Steam Library, much less the Enhanced Edition. Like other people have said in their reviews, Ara Fell is a classic JRPG with some modern changes to it. You play as Lita as she and her three companions try to save their floating land from dying.

Let's start with what this game does that's fantastic. The amount of freedom you're allowed is wonderful: from having enemy encounters as enemies on the field that you can choose to avoid, the ability to swim and hop across ledges to new areas, and the extra options available once you master your artifacts. I felt encouraged to explore the world and gather the resources to upgrade my equipment before I had to even think about heading to the plot.

During the end of Chapter 2, you get access to quests that can upgrade your team to one of two prestige classes. Both options are equally valid, and I could imagine different gameplay styles as a result. In addition, the ability to choose which skills to upgrade allows for you to focus on your favorite abilities. In addition, each teammate has an ultimate you can build up to in order to devastate your enemies.

It's just a shame that, besides that, the combat is fairly boring. From my playthrough up to the finale of Chapter 2, most combat consisted of scanning enemies, taunting, then using AoE or strong attacks to kill opponents. Otherwise, it had the enemies moving before anyone else could and killing me in one hit. In addition, there's no real consequences after battle, as you automatically restore any missing HP and MP, and dying only gives you slight debuffs to stats.

The story is painfully generic, and honestly the reason why I stopped playing. The four characters, Lita, Adrian, Seri, and Doren are passable in terms of being people united to save the world. The quests to unlock the prestige classes do unearth some extra background info for characters like Adrian and Seri, but there never was enough to feel anything for them. If someone's parents vanished, for instance, and that was connected to someone's class quest, you would think that it would be something brought up at least once before the quest in question, right?

And even beyond the characters, the main story itself was predictable up to the end of Chapter 2. Is there a person who looks suspicious? Probably gonna betray you. Is the trusted advisor of the now sick king evil? Probably. The ride is a drag that was almost entirely kept together by ignoring the plot and entering the death hornet cave for some sick loot.

Finally, the price tag is $5 too high, in my opinion. I know that is a touchy topic, especially when it comes to indie games like this, but I see it as comparison. is the gameplay as fun as Hollow Knight? Am I excited to keep playing like with West of Loathing? If this was a $10 game I would probably be more willing to recommend it to everyone, especially with what I did enjoy.

I wanted to like this game, especially with all of the positive reviews it has, on top of several of my friends having it on their wishlist. But I can't, in good faith, recommend this game at full price, as I can't really bring myself to play any more of it. Maybe I'll come back to it a couple years from now, just like when I did when I first bought it. If you really want this game, wait for a sale.

I don't dislike this game, but it's pretty repetitive and the plot isn't strong enough to support the tedium of the combat. The graphics, which were charming at first, got uglier the longer I played it, too. I estimate I'm about 2/3 of the way through the game right now, and I'll still finish it, because it's not insufferable to play. The one praise I can give it is the way you level up your equipment, which is more akin to Secrets of Mana than most RPGs, so instead of buying new gear with different stats, you just make the same gear stronger over time. It's not my favorite way of doing things (I like buying new gear, simulated capitalism gives me such a dopamine hit), but it's at least something that makes Ara Fell stand out, and I like that. Honestly, I think it could thrive if it were more like Secrets of Mana in that it's a party-based game that ISN'T turn-based, since most of the boring parts deal with the combat mechanics.

All that being said, though, I bought Ara Fell for like a buck by completing the RPG Bundle, and I'm not going to say that it's not worth that little. As of writing this, though, it's on sale for $6 and I think that's too high for it. But if you just LOVE pixel graphic RPGs, you could probably do worse. Probably.

I really enjoyed this one.
It is a retro classical JRPG style of game. Reminds me of those early Final Fantasies.
Game has a nice story and there is exactly the right amount of text messages (not too much).
Main Characters are very likable.
Pixel art is nice, a good variety of enemies. Large map. And this is a rare example where crafting done so easy and it is a huge part of the game.
Main Music Theme is also awesome. there is just a little choice of music and sound effects. Quality is good, but just getting too repetitive.
Also there are few stages where grinding is almost impossible to avoid.
Other than that it is an easy game to recommend.

Great story & characters. Tactical, turn-based combat that flows quickly and doesn't get annoying when doing some grinding.
Took me 23 hours to beat it 100% while taking my time exploring it all.

*IMPRESSIONS* One of many campy and cute RPG's: this one is beautiful to look at, but feels a little flat.

The Good: No random battles, status returns to normal after battle, beautiful backgrounds, warm characters, difficulty settings (INCLUDING a Story Mode) and seems to have decent writing, too
The Bad: Music and area art/tone don't always match well, combat feels plain

Wasn't for me at the time I tried it, but seems like a good option at first glance to anyone wanting to play a story-focused, classic JRPG.

Super entertaining RPG. The art style is gorgeous, as it is obvious. I felt that the gameplay was really balanced, even in Expert (The difficulty I played in). The only time I had to grind there was a quest to motivate me, so it didn't feel boring at all. You would have to grind to get to lvl 50 if you want the achievement, but that's you torturing yourself. The story is serviceable and a good ground for jokes. The humor is a big part of the experience; there aren't any outstanding ones, though. The only “gripe” I could have is that the dialogs are often way too unserious. You would be about to fight three dragons, giant legendary beasts that only a few are left, and the main characters would bicker or make a joke. The strategy in combat was obvious to me, and I didn't have to change much my approach. I would have liked to get a challenge that made me reconsider where I spent my skill points or which upgrades I got. I'm sure that noncrazy people will have a fun time strategizing. The characters were a good part of my entertainment. They all have a distinct personality, background and reactions. I wanted to know more about each one of them. Maybe the thing this game does the best is the world-building. I never even questioned if Arafell was “real”. The internal logic is pretty sound all around. I'm just writing every thought in my mind; the overall experience was really fun. It got me hooked the whole time. That's why I completed it. :p

A long time ago I played the first version of Ara Fell, an unfinished but polished RPGMaker demo. Many years later while scrolling through daily sales on Steam I saw a title with the same name. Intrigued, I picked it up. The final version had a tweaked story, heavily revamped combat and mechanics and the same charming feel as the original demo.

Then not too long after I finished, the developers released the Enhanced Edition. As well as porting the game to the Unity engine and adding Steam achievements, a large number of updates were made to the game. Combat and skill mechanics were improved and balanced and crafting was enhanced with your gear being upgradeable compared to legacy where you found new gear instead to replace your gear. Both versions reward exploration through and both were generally fun and charming indie JRPGs.

Play the game from beginning to end and was pleasantly surprised. From the very beginning I found the characters and dialogue unexpected and fun. The game is very aware and makes jokes about the RPG genre, things that the average player is going to do in every game without really thinking about how the in-game world would feel about the things we do.

I also really enjoy the character skills and choices, having 2 classes for each character and 2 skill upgrade choices means that you actually have a lot of liberty to create a very unique party and gives the game some replayability.

Overally, Highly recommend this game if you are looking for an oldschool JRPG to spend a weekend playing.

The only reason I played this game is because this was popular in the early 2000s RPG Maker scene (the original version not this remake), being one of the very few commercial games made with RM2k3. Having said that, this is far from being the best with free RM classic games like The Way or A Blurred Line trumping this in almost every aspect especially the writing.

The best parts of the game are the mapping and the worldbuilding. But while the lore is interesting, the characters and the dialogue themselves are nothing to write home bout. Also I'm not sure if it's a budget issue but how could you not have a regular battle theme in a turn-based jrpg? Or even a different music when on a different area (Dian's Gully). Scenes could have been improved simply by having better music.

The gameplay and progression is ok.

Overall, I don't really recommend to general jrpg fans. But voting this positively as this was a blast in the past - and probably the reason why a lot of aspects of the game feel dated. 13 year old me might have liked this better.

Note: I played the entire game, from start to finish, on the Steam Deck. The game was completed once, in Expert mode.

TLDR: An outstanding jRPG which can be recommended without hesitation, as long as you are aware of one major negative (the lighting).

Ara Fell is simply amazing. It does almost everything right. The story is fantastic. You are given the time to get to know the characters, and they are written well. There are no translation issues here! The story has its ups and downs, some genuinely funny moments, and an absolutely epic finale.

The pacing is tremendous. The gathering and crafting system are fairly unique, but it works very well. Each character has their full outfit available to them from the outset, but each piece can be upgraded with the materials you find out in the world. The world is a very believable, lived-in space. There are numerous critters flying and scurrying around all of the time. Leaves fall, trees sway in the wind, it all feels very real. The pixel graphics do some heavy lifting here, as you can tell that enough attention to detail has been given here to make the world feel alive.

The only time I dislike the environment has to do with the biggest negative the game has to offer: its lighting. As mentioned above, the entire game was played on the Steam Deck. The Deck was very frequently docked with the game displayed on a 72 inch television, and the rest of the time played in handheld mode. The result was the same. The game has SEVERE problems with its lighting in several places in the game. It is simultaneously too bright and too dark. The game has many white “flashbang” screens (even right at the title, where it lasts interminably long until you realize you can hit any key/button to advance). These screens are almost blindingly white, and I really did not care for them. Likewise, when you are out in the snow or in certain grove areas, the sunlight and reflected light are just so bright as to be uncomfortable on your eyes. And then, conversely, in most caves, everything is just WAY too dark. I literally could not see where to go in some areas. I wound up having to increase the brightness of the tv or deck (as the game does not provide a working brightness control) whenever I was in a cave, and then lowering the brightness whenever I was not in a cave. This was very annoying, but it speaks to the quality of the game that I was willing to go to such lengths. The final negative regarding the lighting is that several areas have a “pulsing background light”, which is probably meant to represent lightning. This, thankfully, is only present in the early areas of the game that you will push past quickly, but it is also present in the final area of the game, and you unfortunately spend a long time in that area. If you are epileptic, this may pose a problem for you.

The rest of the game is nearly perfect, with minor quibbles. The combat is excellent, a highlight of the game, and that’s very good, because there is A LOT OF IT. And I mean a lot! I was playing on Expert difficulty, so I did wind up fighting almost everything I saw (to keep myself over leveled for the mostly hard boss fights). Each character feels unique and the choices they make each combat turn do feel meaningful. A small downside here is when each character gets to upgrade their class. This choice is permanent, enormous (every character plays completely differently based on what you choose), and given very little fanfare. Worse, you are not really told or shown HOW the choice will affect the character. It almost seems as though you are meant to consult a guide/wiki to see the skills before you make your choice. I’m fine with that (and that’s what I did), but I think the game would have been improved with either class tutorials showing the difference ahead of time, or a “testing area” to allows players to try both options out before committing.

Finally, the audio and visual are mostly top notch. The pixel graphics are a delight, infusing the world with life. The music tracks are purchase-worthy, though I feel there are not enough of them. The sound effects consist of a lot of grunts and weapon “whooshes”, and feel much lower quality than the rest of the game, so I turned those off early and left them off for the rest of the game.

Thank you for reading this far, and if you have even a passing appreciation for RPGs and jRPGs in particular, you owe it to yourself to try this brilliant throwback to the genre.

I've played a large number of RPGs and JRPGs over the years. I will say that Ara Fell was a worth while experience. I enjoyed the characters, the combat, and story.

Story: A
At first, I thought the story was very cliche. "Vampires?" & "Chosen one" as examples. I thought I knew what the games was going for and in the final act, was actually surprised by the direction and some of the twists. I went into the game completely oblivious of anything.

Exporation and Navigation: B
It can be a little confusing with the larger areas to remember where the entrances and exits are. Luckily, the teleport waypoints help a lot. Once I was more familiarized with an area, it became much easier to navigate. There is quite a bit to explore. Nothing really is missable. Exploration is highly recommended.

Shopping: B
Buying and selling stuff in the game became a little bit of a chore trying to upgrade equipment. Eventually, I was picking up stuff I had paid several thousand for a little earlier in the game.

Combat: A
Turned based where turn order dependents on your character's speed. This can be manipulated with skills by your characters or by enemies. Leveling up was such a weird focus in the game, as I wanted some characters to always be faster than Lita. AOEs then multi-single target attacks, and healing at the end. Also, 5K damage is really easy with the respec option for leveling up points. Heck, I even did over 5k damage in the final battle without the respec. Battles are usually quick, which is good.

Music and Sound: B
The music is okay. I had to turn it down, but that might just be how I am. Sound effects were for the most part spot on.

Characters Progression and Crafting: B
While I was not very enthused by the skill and the optional class system, as it makes you choose existing or the new class for each playable character. Upgrade to equipment really was a driving force for me. Upgrading skills was also once I knew what I wanted as a play style. Not a fan of Reflect's upgrade. Like who thought having it lose reflect was a good idea? Upgrading equipment sometimes took a little bit of grinding if you want to upgrade early, which I did. Reaching level 50 is an achievement, but it is not the cap and you can comfortably beat everything in the game on a normal playthrough without reaching level 50. I grinded out from level 46 to 50, but was very doable without doing so. Experience is plentiful.

Overall, I would give the game an A, despite all the B ratings I gave it above. Somehow, despite all of the issues I had with the game, they came together nicely. It also has motivation to replay it by having an Expert mode only achievement. It's short enough that replaying it would take considerably less time.

I went into this game not knowing much about it and ended up falling in love with it. The art style is what you'd expect from any RPGMaker-style game, but where this one shines is in the writing, characters, and world lore building. The story can be summed up as basic save-the-world plot, but there was enough variance and hardships that the characters went through to keep me interested. I really like the characters, they were unique enough, the interactions with each other well done, and the dialogue was both funny and heartfelt at times.

Combat was just okay, again, something you would expect from RPGMaker-style games. Turn-based fighting, basic abilities and 'ultimate move,' buff/debuff, healing, etc. There was no elemental damage system. There was no real character customization. It was just enough to not make me bored, but just barely. The gear system was kind of nice; instead of wading through tons of loot and having to constantly swap stuff, this game uses the same exact gear the entire game, but you upgrade it to different tiers with material loot. At first I was a little put off by it, but after a while I really appreciated the simplicity of it. That's also the extent of the crafting, in addition to consumables, nothing fancy, but not overly complicated. I like it really.

Overall I highly recommend the game, it was very enjoyable mainly for the characters and writing. My actual in-game play time, for a slow, meticulous playthough was right at 39 hours for all the achievements. My Steam hours are inflated because I wrote a full guide for the game and had it paused a lot to take notes - check it out!

**Overall Gameplay**

Anytime you play a game for over 100 hours, it strongly indicates its quality. This game is a gameplay nostalgia trip for those who grew up during the Super Nintendo and Nintendo era. It features an engaging storyline and a solid battle system. For seasoned RPG players, the difficulty might be around six out of ten, but for those less experienced, the battles could feel more challenging, with a rating of around seven. I truly enjoyed the game's overall feel and narrative, especially how it leaves room for a sequel at the end, something many role-playing games fail to do.

**Recommendation**

Regarding "Ara Fell," I highly recommend this game, especially if you're a fan of classic role-playing games. It beautifully captures the nostalgia of old systems like the Super Nintendo. The characters are endearing, and the storyline follows the classic RPG format. However, I can't give this game a perfect score of 10 out of 10 because I wish it were a bit more challenging. Additionally, it would have been great to see a few more types of spells and perhaps one or two extra characters to enhance Gameplay. I recommend this game, and I hope they release a sequel.

**Rating**
8.5/10

This is a super cute game. The story and characters in this are top notch. The writing here is some of the best I've seen. It had me even crying at points. This is a hard recommend.

I think Ara Fell was quite the enjoyable little RPG. Gameplaywise good ol turn based combat, with a few twists and turns but fun enough. A cool system of ugrading your weapons etc. with the stuff you collect, I enoyed that quite a bit, a pretty neat idea for a rather short game.

The story is a bit predictable (except maybe for the end itself) and gets thinner and thinner the further you get into the game (same btw with sidequests, I wonder if the game was once planned to be longer) but fun enough.

The Main point why the game is realy worth the time is that it is super charming. Quirky, fun dialogue, beautiful maps that feel like areas people might actually live in, the ability to swim (A quite fun idea in a world full of 2D games where water means death) you just have a good time playing Ara Fell, even though it is not revelutionary.

Enjoyable. The game doesn't take itself too seriously, the protagonists are very aware of how absurd certain RPG tropes can get, and the lore doesn't fall over itself trying to justify everything.

Perhaps could have used a slight bit more challenge and complexity towards the end, but all in quite an enjoyable experience.

Superb RPG, simple commands, Heartfelt story ! Story is that a little girl, Lita, finds a ring, put it on, and now, she must save her world from the baddies ! There's even a playable epilogue !
i recommand this game and, from the same studio, Rise of the Third Power. They are verry alike !
You don't need a powerfull system to play (no 3d here).

Cute RPG that runs just long enough not to outstay its welcome, with impressive environment design and a somewhat predictable and cliche fantasy plot, that nevertheless has enough quirk and humour to differentiate it.

The game looks better than it is. There is no real story or even a "quest" that you go on. It's more of a sandbox type game where you explore the region, do sidequests for NPC's and gather crafting items. It's the kind of game my girlfriend who isn't a gamer might enjoy. That said, the actual sandbox elements are not strong enough to really make the game worth a play.

The combat and level-up system is decent, but without a story driving anything, it just feels empty, like you're just walking around fighting animals at random for no particular reason.

I would not recommend the game. I feel like there's a ton of better options if you're looking fro a pixelated RPG. Now at this price, you aren't setting your wallet back too much but I feel like the real loss would be the time you spend playing this game.

Ara Fell is a fantastic game which hearkens back to the days of RPGmaker 2003. I remember playing a version of this back in the mid 2000s I believe (back when I believe there was a stake used to kill vampires?), and after finding it was fully released on steam, I knew I had to play it. A wonderful story with a fun combat and gearing system, Ara Fell shows all the hallmarks of a great game. The music never felt too repetitive, I loved the characters, and while the map could be difficult to navigate at times, it was still an incredibly enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who wants to see what people were making back with the old RPGmaker systems, and who also would love a fantastic game. 10/10

Loved the game. It was simple and it respects your time.

Good length and number of side quests. It never felt tedious, even if you wanted to get everything out of the game.

The combat and gameplay were simple and traditional, a plus for me. Too many "innovations" in games nowadays just tend to over-complicate and drag down the gameplay.

Progression felt a bit front-loaded. I wish you would gain a new skill or two in the second half of the game to keep you experimenting. You'll likely repeat the exact same strategy for every single enemy in an area, but the battles go by quick and they're relatively easy to avoid if desired.

The "Normal" difficulty is a bit too easy if you're the type to explore around and do side quests. I had no problem maxing everything out and never saw a game over screen. I gravitate towards selecting easier difficulties nowadays (time), but in hindsight, I probably should have stepped it up.

I normally don't care about story in a game like this - it's just there to give me a reason to move forward. Similarly, characters just need to not be too lifeless, or too over-the-top. This game was the perfect middle-ground. Nothing to complain about on this front.

This game actually scratched a Chrono Trigger itch for me. Not that this game is on the same level (characters, world, sidequests, music, etc.). It's not as memorable, but I had just as much fun while playing, and it didn't wear out its welcome. Easy recommendation to anyone with similar tastes.

This game is excellent. Just read the positive reviews, they are correct in all respects. There is no need for me to rehash all the positive elements in this game which have been covered in other reviews. If you like the old style turn based type of game, you will like this one. Highly recommended.

You can pet the cat. Also, this game is fantastic so far. Very charming writing style, visuals, and audio. There doesn't seem to be mouse support but if you have a gaming mouse you can just rebind keyboard keys to your mouse as a quick fix.
