The game itself, I LOVE. I've played almost all the Nancy Drew games and I replay them constantly.
What I hate is that it's almost unplayable due to the screen flashing in my face like a rave at every dialogue screen or whenever I have my inventory open. I've played this game on CD before, (before I had a Steam account), so this is some sort of weird bug with Steam? It flashes in my face until I exit out of those screens. If I had epilepsy, I wouldn't be able to boot up the game. It's really really bad and hurts my eyes. I hope Steam can do something to fix this, it also was pretty bad in the Shadow At the Water's Edge Nancy Drew game I just finished, but it wasn't to this extreme. This hasn't happened to me with any other Steam games, just the Nancy Drew ones.
I really liked this game as I love everything about mystery and solving puzzles. The only reason I didn't like this game was because it was super super hard for me to figure out all of the puzzles, especially the piano puzzle. Now, the books and papers DID give me all the information I needed to solve it, but I do wish there was a way you could skip some sections if you did have trouble with it. I could see someone stop playing this game because it was too hard to solve the puzzle without spoilers.
Overall - the story was great and I LOVED all the characters. Only thing I wish is that you could have had more conversations with them that weren't about the case. You definitely could get to know them a little bit, but I wish there were also more opportunities for all of us together to do something, even if some classmates hated each other. You know like the game room and the movie corner, just a way to take a break from all the crime-stopping.
I loved this game until the ending. It had great potential but not enough story and the end puzzle was just too easy for me. Wish they added more story before the ending as it was just very boring and disappointing for me.
I cannot move forward in the game because the dialogue the characters are supposed to make for me to retrieve the objects I need from them doesn't trigger. Even though I perform all the actions necessary. I cannot get a refund either because they say I already played for 9 hours.
This era of ND games was my favorite. Warnings at Waverly Academy had a good story line and challenging, yet achievable, puzzles. I'm in the process of playing all the ND games over again (some I never played to begin with), and had a great time playing this one! It always helps when I don't remember how it ends, so it's basically like playing it for the first time again.
meh. felt trapped in such a small game world, you never leave the two hallways of the academy.
Edgar Allan Poe meets Gossip Girl? LOVE IT! While the puzzles were kinda lacking in my opinion up until the end, the plot and lore of the themes with Poe, the atmosphere (beautiful snow and dark academia? *swoon*), and the characters (resident goth!!) landed this one in my top 5 for sure!
this might be the best nancy drew game of all time. rlly fun characters and it was challenging without making me wanna smash my pc. only used uhs like 3 times B) Izzy could get it.
One of the best nancy drew games ever. Liked the school atmosphere it was fun and relaxing. Puzzles are not too hard on this one as well. I liked the story plot and the characters especially Mel.
