In Alchemist's Awakening, you are a young alchemist who is still discovering how much power he has.
There are 9 primary elements, which can be mixed together and recombined into blocks of different shapes, or used as attacks against enemies.
Explore
Explore an infinite and procedurally generated open-world, use the Wind element to fly from a desert island to an iceberg, discover ruins of ancient builds deep in the forest, find rare resources and settle down somewhere to shape your own world as everything you see is made of small building blocks.
Find some villages and ask around for interesting places, there is a lot to discover.
Build
As an Alchemist, you can recombine the 9 primary elements into other shapes and materials. Then you can place blocks anywhere in the world and build anything you can think of.
Build machines to help you collect elements: for example, create a big windmill to collect the Wind element.
Creative Mode
If you like building more than everything, the Creative mode is made for you, with tools that let you build even faster.
Use powerful tools to terraform your own world, and then share your creations on the Steam Workshop or invite your friends to your world.
The Creative mode also let you create a real adventure map: you can write write your own quests, script your own special blocks with true gameplay changes.
All your creations can be shared in the Steam Workshop. Check out what other players made!
Combat
Every element can be used as a weapon: launch fireballs, create a strong wind that repulse enemies, or create swords and bows. Your attacks will get even more powerful when you combine several elements.
Fight againt the monsters you encounter in the world such as rhinos and thiefs, and fight against other players in co-op and multiplayer mode.
Give life to Creatures
When you build something with a human shape, you can give life to it and it will start to move and animate.
Command it to follow you, guard your base or mine resources for you.
Depending on its shape and the type of block you used to build it, it will have different strengths and weaknesses.
Play with friends
Alchemist's Awakening comes with two ways to play with friends. There is an online mode where you can connect to servers, or you can at any moment decide to invite your Steam friends to come play in co-op with you in your world.
Servers and co-op world can also contains special blocks, creatures and machines to make it really unique: visit the Workshop to get some.

It isn't really bad there's just nothing here that you can't find in most other games in the genre.
Honestly had promise, the system for crafting is interesting, where instead of resources, you gain access to a pool of essence which you combine to craft basic materials early, and then later use this at crafting stations to craft both magic spells and more advanced items.
Pros:
Interesting idea for crafting
Golem crafting
Homunculus-Animal-pet thing?
(Don't worry about this part too much, its just a basic animal companion)
strangely beautiful voxel world
Cons:
The lack of end game content
bare bones world with very little going on
Same pet over and over again
only a focus on golem crafting, some potions, no homunculi sadly
no in game lore, just empty world.
***Judgement Call:***
Gonna shoot it straight with you ladies and gentlemen, this game had promise, I bought this a long while back, I think back when I was 18, got through some drama with people I liked back then, dealt with toxic situations, and this game felt peaceful and interesting to get my mind off it for the time I had it. I'm not gonna lie and say I think this is terrible, because it's a good game, just that there weren't many ideas that went into it.
You guys came here for a review so I'll say this, if you're expecting a lot of interest and content, don't play it, but if you have an interest in seeing what game engines like unity can do, but besides that, this game is a sad little coffin for a game that never got to truly grow old.
It was a very difficult decision to not recommend this game. I personally love the mechanics, the atomsphere itself is nice. I love the weapons and the battle style along with the (sole) quest of collecting orbs (?). But this game, in all of its glory of could-have-beens, is unfinished. Its so unfinished someone had to make a mod just to try and pick up SOME of the large portion of slack the devs left behind. The fact that there's S O much potential for this game and that its been completely abandoned is what makes me not recommend this game.
The game has some interesting mechanics which sadly won't be expanded upon. There are no more updates but it's fun to goof around in despite it's bugs and glitchy nature. Unless you are goofing off with friends or really really bored and want to build bases and figure out how to do spells. This game may not be for you.
Abandonware.
I lacks a lot of content and polish.
It's a great game but far from be completed.
But unfortunetally, I cannot recommend it even it's a great potential.
There is a huge amount of potential in this game, I say as someone that likes games like Valheim and Force of Nature. The problem is it is inconsistent with what recipes will work, and it hasn't been worked on recently. I got it at $4 and I am still refunding it, this being the first game I do. It's a shame because this could be a great game. Instead it's unfinished enough that I will not buy this game or anything from the publisher again until they indicate they are actually working on their games instead of just dropping them
This is one of those games that started in Early Access and then the developers just got bored. It is a simulated world with a few interesting mechanics but ultimately it is a giant disappointment as the developers never bothered to finish it. It isn't actually a game. Other than building a base and exploring a world with a few creatures in it, there is simply nothing to do. There are no mission, no storyline, a tutorial that cannot be completed and no point in playing other then for the simple relaxation of creating a base.
Completely pointless waste of time. Only buy this if it is on sale and only if you go into it accepting that there is no actual goals to work towards. It is pure sandbox. Personally I will be looking out for things Osaris Games produces in the future. I will not pay money for any of their future games as they couldn't be bothered to finish this.
There's nothing really wrong with this game...but it lacks that little thing that makes you want to keep playing it. In a sea of Minecraft open world block builder clones Alchemist's Awakening fails to stand out, which is sad as the lighting and weather system generation is pretty solid for an indie title.
AA contains no story, basically you run around killing bad things while crafting golems out of random objects as well as building structures if you like. There are random villages to explore, people who'll fight alongside you for some coin, and cute girls who'll mark points of interest on your map. That's about it. Note the enemy AI will often attack each other which can make for some impressive long-range lightning and fireball fights between skeletons and roving bands of reindeer and jaguar (no, really) amongst other things. The map does contain multiple biomes but creatures clearly native to them roam everywhere which is pretty jarring.
This will run good on a potato PC aside from lag while it loads new areas. Most of the default controls are fine but you might find mounts to be irritating, both horses and wolves slide front to back even when their movement animations have ceased. One high note is the soundtrack, it was entirely made by the developer and is shockingly good although way too loud in one spot.
I paid $5 for Alchemist's Awakening and after 6 hours am left wondering why. I don't feel ripped off per se, just kind of disappointed. This feels more like a proof of concept or a decently-developed student final project rather than a for-sale title. For all the time this spent in the throes of Early Access I expected better.
It's a fun little game, but I would not spend more than 3 dollars on it as the game stands now. The game is fairly shallow but has some interesting mechanics.
The game has the feeling of an early access, but seems abandoned. I'm not normally for the whole "Devs abandoned the game" thing, but in this case know the game is rough around the edges and the dev seems to be inactive on all media platforms.
This is a cool concept to the survival sandbox genre, but this game is missing a lot. I can only really say I recommend this game if the developers continue to work on it, as in its current state it leaves a lot to be desired. The building mechanic is unique in its own way, but leaves me wanting more to create. There are creatures, but none that really stand out. All I can really say about it in its current state is I hope more comes of it, and it can help cure an hour or so of boredom.
Complete Junk. I really do not know how this has has so many possative reviews. For a game that is out of EA it is half made and no way complete. the mpbs glitch in and out of existance, and are randomly standing around. If you plan to play multiplayer this is a WARNING to you dont buy this its desync issue is insane. Only plus side is I managed to get a refund on all 3 copies I bought for me and my sons. Such a shame probably would of been half ok if it was a finished game.
Alchemist Awakened, now needs coffee.
It was a very good start to this survival game. I was so impressed that after only 1.5 hours of play, I did an early access review. But at some point the game was marked as "Complete" with the Early Access tag removed. So, I guess it's done.
There was very little communication from the developer. At one point, he mentioned that he was working on another project to make ends meet. I, and several other players supported that idea, but nothing happened after that.
Looking back on my original review, very little of it now holds true. So it goes.
Bottom line:
There is a complete game with a final boss encounter and the ability to keep playing after that. There are some great innovations with the building system.
I was really looking forward to seeing this project progress, and maybe it still will, who knows?
Imagine if Elder Scrolls and Minecraft had a child, this game would be it.
It's a fairly decent mix of crafting, building, exploring, fighting and magic.
Pros:
+ Huge open world with different biomes and areas
+ Lots of different elements, structures, blocks, spells etc. to make and use
+ Beautiful soundtrack
+ Graphics are okay
+ You can summon your own minions from pretty much any shape of blocks, GODDAMMIT!
+ Game runs really well
Cons:
- Clunky combat and animations
- Unclear instructions how to craft or build certain things or obtain resources
- Game world is somewhat empty, there could be more structures and npcs/mobs
- Glitches
- Limited settings and customization
Overall it's an open world exploration/crafting game with a whole bunch of different stuff to make, build and battle. This game is more about obtaining resources, mixing them and doing whatever you want with them. Don't expect this to have a storyline or some deeper character interactions as in the end of the day it's just your own freedom.
[7,5/10] Probably entertaining for up to few hours but still with such a low price it'll be worth it if you enjoy making random things yourself and exploring the environment. Somewhat decent experience for an indie title.
Bought this for myself and my two sons, and it has provided many hours of enjoyment. We got a bit worried when taming the dragon as the outro and closing credits made it look like the game was over. However, we were able to continue playing.
The building is some of the best Ihave ever seen in a survival game - especially when you realise you can middle click placed blocks to put them in your hotbar, and you can drag to place whole rows of blocks in one hit.
Co-op is a little sketchy - with everyone except the host needing to relog regularly - but it is not game-breaking, and is more than made up for by the wonderful things to be found exploring the world and the ease with which this can be done with portals (all players need the destination list though, and it needs to be longer than 9 entries)
All in all, it was well worth the money and I am confident there is still many more hours of fun to be had after completing the main objective of the game.
The 1.0 release hasn't done much for this title. The system concepts are quite interesting and very innovative, but poorly implemented. I spent 20 minutes trying to sort out how to build a windmill precisely to specification during the "tutorial" before a wolf showed up out of nowhere and tried to eat my face. I didn't have the ability to defend myself in any fashion as I hadn't yet learned how to craft weapons, nor did I have any materials to do that even if I'd had the recipe. I stood on top of a ruin for a few minutes watching the wolf glitch itself out as it tried to climb the wall.
The player's cognitive interface to the crafting system needs serious attention.
As I huddled in my hut, finally stowed away, safe from the storm, I was overwhelmed by the feeling of happiness that only comes with immersion in a well made game world. The rolling waves, the blowing wind, the rain, and the music flow with the storm. It's a feeling I rarely get anymore unless I'm painting or singing. Alchemist has won me over.
One must put aside a few quibbled, but it is well worth helping such an interesting world develop. It is brilliant, if buggy. Alchemist's Awakening's system make sense & is a strong competitor in the Craft / Voxel genre. The building is efficient. The Creative mode is much more extensive than most games, combining elements of modification that allow users to create their own objects and recipes. What is quite a simple palette at first glance is really a sensible alchemy system that is much less annoying than most. The magic works quite well. Enemy AI is a bit odd, in so much as animal aggro and attack patterns. It's easy to miss when driving right into the enemy. Strafing back and swinging in time dose produce cleaner fights, so the player can dodge with some practice. Intuitive flow makes this a game that will stand the test of time with continued development, which also seems well done. Players can design NPCs and even include scripting in creative mode.
Definitely worth testing in EA if you don't mind some freezes and crashes from time to time. It has locked up Windows 10 on 2 occasions now, so be warned. I believe the bug has to do with toggling Fullscreen to a window, so if you intend to use a wiki at first, go windowed mode so that you don't get this particular issue. It's not a big deal otherwise, my games were saved. It runs pretty well on old rigs, but not being able to turn off anti-alias x1 is a bit annoying. That being said, I still get about 30fps so it's also not a big deal with the other options turned down. I hope to see more graphics options for optimization, but I'm quite pleased that it does run so well.
~ If you have a little programming background and want to make an RPG mod, this may be a great new opportunity to get your story / game out there via Alchemists's Creative mode. The potential alone is worth the investment, & I have really enjoyed playing my solo adventure thus far. Players may end up providing a lot of the more important tweaks for this game while the Dev focuses on the core. There is a decent community thus far.
In the quest line I am about to start taming horses and pretty psyched to get back to it. Mining is tough at first, so don't plan on digging in right away! This game is more about magic. Follow the questline and it will make more sense than treating it like other well-known mining games that will remain unmentioned.
When I first found this game in 2017 I was really excited for the concept and the reviews made it look as if it was going places. Overall the game in it's current state is playable and there is the capacity for enjoyment, but after only an hour and a half, there was no more content left to the game. For this genre that isn't uncommon, as many open-world/survival/crafting games have taken a similar approach, but your ability to modify the existing world is extremely limited and the control/combat systems are very clunky. The bottom line is the game has made minimal to no progress and the updates are spaced months apart with very mild changes.
Ultimately I expect this game to be abandoned in the very near future.
I want to start off this review by clarifying: I don't exactly dislike this game, I just don't trust it.
There are some very good concepts in the game, and with some polishing and a lot of work, it could be incredible. That's just it though--it COULD be incredible, but it's not. I want to think that it's just a work in progress and the issues it has will be resolved, but I can't believe that at this point. Alchemist's Awakening has been in development for more than 3 1/2 years, and the dev has done nothing he said he would do.
I want my money back but I've already passed the 2 hour play time limit.
Just got this on sale. Only making an early review since it is on sale and would urge people who like craft type games to try it.
So far....entered the world started on a steep slope and slid into some monster... Take two! Spawned into a village! Stole a sword off the wall and wandered around. A nice village lady told me about a local temple and I proceeded to plunder it for tons of building materials. Leanred to create different blocks by combining elements...hence alchemy. Harvested wind, fire, and energy. Built a golem out of ruby blocks and brought it to life. Tamed a wolf and rode it around....after I jumped off it, it attacked a rhino...no more wolf.
First hour was great! No bugs so far. Crafting basically consits of building a shape from materials then using a tool to make it useful. I can't wait to make more creatures and bring them to life. Try to tame more things in the world. For early access it's quite far along. My only dislike so far is that combat is clunky...and seems to not have a lot of use other than self defense. No experience, sometimes they drop some materials. But that doesn't bother me too much, the game seems to have a lot to do!...oh and no arrows! For me that's a plus, I hate running out of arrows.
Based on the limited amount of time I have spent with this game I am sure there will me more to explore. Given that its only EA at this point in time, there will be more to come. I got the game on sale which is going on right now for a little less than half the original price and I am liking it. It does not feel as mature as Creativerse, but what it has already got the better of my curiosity.
What I liked about it.
- Its premise is based on fantasy and magic. (This was the main thing for me. I was looking around for a minecraft like game with better graphics and based on magic. BINGO!!)
- It has a unique way of crafting in the game, through assembling blocks into shapes then casting a spell on it.
- There are some very powerful functional controls given to players where creative mode crafting is involved. You can even make your own customized weapons, and other items. (I have not explored this area much yet, but from watching the available video I thought it was really facinating.)
- You can make your own golems of various shapes and sizes by assembling the blocks into a recognizable shape and casting the spell (I doubt there is another game out there that lets you do this). And, you can command said Golem to mine for you.
- Lots of blocks, colored blocks, materials, to allow you to get creative with your creations.
- You can fly, throw fireballs, and shoot lightning.
- Graphics definitely looked better than the pixilated stuff you see in minecraft and its clone.
- The ingame map where you actually see all the activity going on in an area around you, including where the mobs are, what they are doing, where are the resources for you to go mining for, and where are the guarded chests-o-loot which you could go killing for.
What I didn't like (it is my greatest hope that they exist now because its in EA)
- Even though the graphics are better that minecraft, it could still be better.
- There are some annoying bugs but not totally game breaking at this point.
- Not much of a tutorial going on at this time.
- Not a whole of lot content in terms of fun and interesting encounters.
- The mob AI could be drastically improved on.
- No caves and dungeons to explore ("Yet", I hope).
Alchemist's Awakening is quite different from most other crafting games. The genius of the game is that everything in the world is divided into a number of elements. If you want to build something out of planks (nature), you can go ahead and gather grass (nature) and then make planks out of your nature element. There's no more need to travel endlessly to find the things you need. Even better still is that you can give life to your creations. A first of its kind, where crafting is combined with actual moving objects! This is something that has been lacking in many crafting other games. Even though the game still has several bugs at the moment of writing this, I find it a very enjoyable game and have high hopes for the development. Worth the €8,- I spend on it!
Alchemist's Awakening is a polished and beautiful early access game that worths it's actual content for it's price.
I am testing with graphics at maximum and not only the game looks beautiful, but it also runs at 60 fps without any lag.
Building is somewhat similar to minecraft but with a very personal touch: you are an alchemist, so you collect natural elements and materials from the world without needing a tool and you can create different shapes and blocks with these materials. There is no recipe list because you need to create a form with blocks and materials and then apply some weird spell to see if that shape can create something useful.
For example, creating a rectangular form with 6 blocks at the floor let's you make a chest. If you try to form that shape vertical, it creates another thing (or not, but those are different shapes and make different 'recipes') Another example is creating a vertical rectangular form of 8 blocks, and that makes a door (spoiler, spoiler :P)
You can also give life to your creations using a combination of all elements and materials in the world (there are 9 elements/materials to use) This is probably what makes this game different from others open-survival-crafting games. Creating a tall wood protector or a stone golem is possible here, and you can of course try different combinations and make your friend a mix of stone, fire and crystal, if you want.
The weak point of this, and where it shows that it's still in development is the combat. For now, there are 2 types of enemies: wolfs and dark tall warriors with a big sword. While you can use the elements to create spells (like a fireball, for example or a lightning), the melee combat needs a lot of work. And also, the animations. For now it works and you can also kill a wolf with a sword, but it feels very basic.
I hope they will also work a little more the AI of enemies and your 'friends', because right now they seem to like to get stuck usually with just a few rocks and you need to go back to 'help' them gathering those rocks.
Another point is that, right now, 'survival' just means avoid being killed by one of those wolfs or warriors. There is no hunger, or thirst.
Given another. mmm... not very good examples of early access that are also survival, open world and which also have crafting, this one looks, plays and feels like a very solid base for adding more content and features.
Oh, and i haven't found any bugs until now.
Actual content and gameplay: enough to start a new world and to play at least for a few hours collecting all materials, creating a house and needed tools/machines (oven, windmill,m lighting rod for auto-collecting elements) and a few golem friends to crush all in your way.
Not going to talk about potential because i don't know and i don't like. For now, this is a solid game that, of course, is in development and needs more love, but it's already better than a lot others and in some cases, it's even cheaper so i think it worths the 15 dollars/euros or whatever right now.
And as a picture is worth a thousand words, here's my house with my friends Patata and Willy xD:
