Описание
An astronaut has crash-landed on an alien planet, and it's started to rain... seeds.
Germination is an arcade-style platformer about surviving an onslaught of carnivorous flora by stomping on their heads. Chain consecutive stomps to double-jump endlessly and combo your way to bonuses and powerups. You'll need to make precise work of your jumping - the only platforms you'll find are your enemies' heads.
Features:
- Difficult campaign hiding a deadly boss.
- Endlessly-looping Hard Mode for overachievers.
- Nursery with Unlockable Plant Biographies and artwork.
- Hand-drawn pixel animations and original soundtrack.

not addictive
Pros: Not a lot, it's a VERY basic game. Sure it's satisfying at first because it's like jumping on goombas while building a combo meter, but it quickly loses it's charm due to it's many problems. The pixel art is beautiful though and the concept has potential, so at a first glance this game seems great...
Cons: The game crashes a lot on the second level whenever my score/combos gets too high so its near impossible to reach any higher score or progress the game for that matter. Your movements are extremely finicky and sometimes the enemies just stop spawning every now and then so you can't keep the combos flowing. One of the most annoying parts is that the hitbox of the flying enemies is much bigger than the actual sprite for some reason so your combos keep getting ruined because you happen to be in it's vicinity (which you can't always see when it flies way above your head outside the screen). The game sorely needs unlockable upgrades or something to remain interesting. I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but in my honest opinion 4€ is a little too much for what such a simple yet half-broken game has to offer.
Germination is a great arcade platformer where the goal of achieving the highest score is done by bouncing off various continually spawning enemies while not touching the ground or harmful objects. It has one major downfall.
Bugs infest everything.
- I've had a couple of stutters and crashes during would-be PB runs.
- Sometimes when I start the game it runs at a very low framerate.
- The first time I "beat" the final challenge in hard mode it was because it was the first thing that spawned.
- I beat postal's score and did not get the achievement for it.
Gameplay is generally unrefined and jarring for many forgettable reasons other than the stuttering. I'll describe a few:
- You can get hit while landing a hit.
- Hitting seeds in mid-air doesn't always make you bounce.
- A few enemy types can deal damage when they spawn while the majority die immediately if you are stood on top of them, but you can't tell which enemy type is going to spawn before it does.
- Losing a combo in mid-air takes away all of your speed (less of a bug, more of a dislike - arguably losing combo should take away the flow of the game but the base movement speed is far too low).
Also playing flawlessly does not necessarily guarantee you to keep your combo, as new enemies often don't spawn in time.
Otherwise, this game is pretty fantastic. Music's great, aesthetics are simple, the skill ceiling is high. I wanted to find enough reason to recommend it but it really needs a little more refinement and then it'll be night and day.
A little insecticide is needed on these plants.
edit: 2->1, described more gameplay problems, reformatted
I keep loading it up in hopes that it runs smoothly.
I really, really, REALLY like this game. Bouncing around on enemies feels satisfying as hell, the animations are fluid, and it's so easy to get hooked once you start playing! Definitely recommend it, especially for the price!
The game has very little if any kind of tutorial and (while it looks good) is rife with UI/UX problems that I can't get past. It seems too hardcore for me and doesn't appear to provide any promise of long-lasting appeal.
I thought I'd love this since I love Downwell, but I guess not. The design isn't as tight.
Unclear SFX, character is nearly uncontrollable during a combo, you fall way too fast, plus the game's skipping frames.
Oh, also, the game likes to waste your time when you die. You gotta wait before restarting, as you see your character floating around the world while you listen to the plants. You can't tell me that was done to give the player a break when you can still hear your annoying enemies. This kind of thing adds up especially in an arcade game.
It really grew on me
This game is simple but challenging and addicting. Very creative and exciting. The music, art, and animation is very chill. Very apreciatable. Way to go man, proud of you
its so satifying to kill the plants, whatever they are, I love it, the pixel style is so simple and I totaly recomend it
Germination is a game where you deal with a terrible plant inestation by utilizing the fact that you weigh a lot more than flowers. It is another "simple but difficult" indie game, but manages to pull a good deal of my time and respect. Your speed is directly related to your combo and how high you're bouncing, turning your sluggish spaceman into a high-flying weed-killing superhero as long as you don't touch the ground. While it is an indie game, and it is difficult, there are no cheap deaths. You can want to be mad at the game, but Germination gives you i-frames, shields, and isn't stingy on the health pickups. All in all, this is a great game for anybody who values quick-paced platforming, reaching high scores, or just hates flowers.
I love this game, so fun, easy to start playing and worth every penny!
yea this game's pretty alright i'd say
Germination is a simple, yet great game. It was made well and has very addictive gameplay. It is well polished and I haven't found one bug yet. The animation style is great, a type of 8-bit style that really feels well made. Bravo to the developer.
It just came out, so I haven't gotten to spend much time with it yet, but even so - Germination is definitely a fun little game, and as a fellow game designer, I'd like to give it some love to help it...grow. (Get it?! Grow?! LIKE GERMINATE!)
You play as a little rocket man, caught in an endless loop as you do laps around a tiny little planet. All the while, you must demonstrate your dominance over the local flora...or are they fauna? Or both? You'll find out eventually because as you play, it seems you can unlock some more information on these poor creatures that you turn into your stomping fodder, and put that knowledge into a tome for posterity.
The only complaint I have is that there appears to be a bit of a stutter in the graphics every few steps you take around the planet. I'm not sure if others are experiencing this - but it is definitely noticable and detracts from the enjoyability of the game. Other than this though - Germination is a solid arcade/high score title, and I'll probably end up putting in a few hours here and there as time wears on. It's addictive, with adequate movement, and decent binge mechanics - but I think the normal asking price of 4 bucks is a bit high for what the game has to offer.
Regardless, I'm satisfied. And as a sucker for pixel art, I gotta say some of the animations are really well done! Bravo on the game, dudes.
