This action horror game brings new meaning to the phrase "retail hell." Dead Rising uses a dynamic real-time system in which time continues to pass whether Frank is actively engaged or remains stationary. For example, though they move slowly during the day, zombies become stronger and faster when the sun sets and make it even more difficult to survive at night. The unprecedented swarms come in never-ending waves and consist of a diverse population. These former humans retain some memory of their previous lives and it is reflected in their behavior and appearance. The variety of different stores in the mall offers an endless supply of resources including vehicles, makeshift weapons and more. Other survivors are encountered along the way and helping them can provide valuable clues as to what has happened.
Key features:
- Huge Environments – Expansive indoor and outdoor areas of the mall provide a variety of different locations to explore!
- Swarm Technology – Allows an unprecedented amount of enemies on screen at once resulting in nonstop, pulse-pounding action.
- Intense Gore and Vibrant Realism.
- Anything in the mall is at Frank's disposal
- Move environmental objects like table umbrellas or mall benches.
- Snatch items from different stores to use as weapons, including golf clubs, lawnmowers, fry pans and more!
- Chow down on various "mall food" to recover health.
- Real Time System – Key story elements happen at certain times whether Frank is on the spot or not. Don't miss any important events or opportunities!
- Use Frank's Photojournalistic Skills – Capture the insanity on film; the better the shot, the better the reward will be!
- NPCs – Help players navigate through the zombie-infested mall.
- Solve the Mystery – Why has the entire town turned into the undead?
Additional Features & Functionalities:
- Save System – Now supports up to five save slots
- Controller Support – Native Xbox 360/Xbox One and PlayStation DualShock 4 controller support with matching button icons
- Resolution Settings – supports 4K and beyond
- Variable Frame Rate – uncapped frame rate including support for 144Hz monitors and Nvidia G-SYNC technology
- Customizable & rebindable keyboard and mouse settings

i like and dislike this game for reasons, but overall is a good game. Kent is my favorite.

i never want to see infinity mode again
*Convicts get stuck on a tree
*Frank drinking orange juice
*Sophie running around aimlessly screaming

10/10👌
This is a really good game that has aged like wine. The combat is fun, the time gimmick is really interesting, the freedom the game gives you is nice. Overall, I highly recommend this game.
A crystal of game design often overlooked. The camera system is genius once you get an understanding of it. Killing zombies never stops being fun, and the game provides so many ways to do it. Not to mention the "psychopaths" within the game, you never know what to expect, and it's always creepy, effective, provides social commentary on American culture, and is sometimes hilarious. Hints of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask with the 3 day time system - and it also provides replayability. One of Capcom's best.
But the survivor AI FUCKING SUCKS. IT'S AWFUL. Not just how they move but how often they get stuck on objects while you're trying to get them to follow you. I'm sure the remaster fixes this (as well as sequels) but..
I recommend just playing the original. It holds up very well. It's only $10 now. Buy it, you won't regret it.
COME ON! FOLLOW ME! COME ON! COME ON! ARE YOU ALRIGHT?! GO! STOP!! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?! HEY!! ARGHHH! ARAGGHHH!.... oh damn... alright, YeaHH.. FANtastic, Perfect.... Hello anyone there??
Excellent game. Timeless classic. Drink orange juice.
There's a lot of good ideas in this game, but it was just a bit too clunky for me to enjoy.
Infinity Mode is not working. I can not complete certain achievements because the game needs a patch. Surviving 5 days in infinity mode is equal to 10 hours of real time and the game crashes somewhere between day 3-4 for me. CAPCOM please see this review and fix this issue. It makes it unplayable for me and for a lot of others online.
Dead rising is like your 1st lover you'll never forget in dead rising series.
"C'MON! FOLLOW ME! C'MON! C'MON! C'MON! FOLLOW ME!"
Dead Rising Is one of the BEST Zombie games ever made It has a Serious tone and story while allowing the player to be goofy and have comedic moments aswell not to mention the fun gameplay with an excellent story, incredible Characters and Voice Acting theres so much to love about this game but theirs Also some age that shows with this game such as the AI of the Survivors being the biggest issue.
But everything else in this game is Fantastic theres no other game out there where you can hit Zombies with a mailbox or run them over with a lawn mower this is one THE zombie games that all zombie fans should play the remaster is Pretty good aswell But theres no other Entry in this franchise that comes close to touching The ORIGINAL.
The game starts out extremely frustrating due to the design philosophy, honestly it will infuriate you if you try, but once you get past that and figure out the cheese mechanics necessary to survive, you will be fine.
My first 2-3 hours were hell, but the game was pretty fun until the end. As the game progresses, more abilities and equipment are made available to the player which enriches the experience as the game goes on, and also more challenging enemies appear.
A massive mall, countless zombies, psychos and soldiers hunting you down as you juggle your time to rescue survivors that you can find.
Nostalgia is a great bonus as well, while I have not played this game when it first came out, this is my first time playing it, it is a great trip back in time to inhale the game design philosophy of the 2000s, the level design is also influenced by the culture of the time, aka Mall culture. Skateboards, bicycles, CD shops, camera shops, food and apparel shops, entertainment... you name it. Was a fun trip overall.
frank west is my favorite waifu
best zombie game oat
Prime early 2000s zombies aesthetic, repayable and nostalgic just be aware of the old saving system.
"Ive Covered Wars Y`know" -Frank West
my guy goes to town on that bread god damn
Amazing Game. Good Challenge.
If i could give this game a neutral rating I would. I'm a big fan of DR2 and DR2: Off the Record. I played the sh*t out of those back in the day and decided to give this one a go after clearing a hole in my backlog. This one is not my jam. The AI for survivors is terrible, bosses are annoying at their best, and above all it's just a bit too clunky. I'm fine with timed missions but not AI worse than a goldfish.
That being said, I do appreciate that the zombies are actually a threat in this game. I've always thought that DR2 and it's sequels feel a bit too easy after your first time through. Even on a blind playthrough I was only dying to psycopaths and time-loss than any Zed. It's actually quite refreshing to feel like I need to think about how to deal with zombies rather than just shouldering past them. I think the best thing for someone like me may be looking at modding DR2 and adding some more challenging zombies.
Why should I buy a Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster when we have a perfectly good Dead Rising Remaster at home?
Despite its age, Dead Rising still holds up as a true classic that was way ahead of its time, even more so in its remastered version.
What might look like a somewhat railroaded clunky action-survival game at a first glance is actually a semi-roguelike masterpiece of action, adventure and decision-making. Make mistakes, get familiar with the map and the scripted events of the game, then go for the kill and beat the game in a proper full run after failing one or two before that. The game's intro should be a subject of study given how excellent it is from both a storytelling and gameplay perspective.
There are only two drawbacks to the game : abysmal friendly NPC AI and clunky aiming with guns and thrown weapons. Other than that, the game simply doesn't miss the mark.
hard, but you'll get the jist of it, just keep in mind, that you're on a timer!
hes covered wars you know
Nice
Classic!
Zombie Genocider! 53,594
Otis is the best character Capcom came up with.
There are some serious game breaking bugs in this game, I thought I'd fire it up for a game and thought "it's been a while, I'll start a new game", couldn't pass the first boss encounter as the boss kept disappearing, and the guy your sent to save loads as just a pair of legs. Can't recommend picking this up, and I hear the deluxe remake has too many changes to make it worth picking up
A Timeless classic that will never get old. 9/10
After playing for 96.7 hours and earning the platinum trophy, I can confidently say that Dead Rising is the best zombie apocalypse game I’ve ever played.
You play as Frank West, a photojournalist who lands in the small town of Willamette to investigate a mysterious outbreak. What starts as a routine assignment quickly turns into a fight for survival as Frank finds himself trapped in a shopping mall overrun by zombies. Along the way, he uncovers a government conspiracy and must rescue survivors while trying to piece together the truth.
The game has it all: great art direction, memorable characters, an amazing soundtrack, and a fantastic protagonist and antagonists. The gameplay is fun and creative, letting you use almost anything as a weapon. The time management adds tension, and the humor keeps things light. The mall setting is iconic, and Frank’s journey from journalist to hero is engaging.
With multiple endings and lots of replay value, Dead Rising is challenging but rewarding. After all this time, it’s clear: this is the best zombie game out there.
Clunky, janky escort quests with soup-brain AI and culturally tonedeaf, over-the-top cringey cut-scenes, the game is... not good. And -yet-, it still manages to be fun in spite of this. At the time of it's creation, it was kinda the only game of it's kind, now most zombie games are like this. Worth a play, if only for posterity.
Don't worry about the slow start, progress is cumulative over playthroughs.
stressful and tediously fun zombie game with a great story, if you enter this game blindly.
and yes, there is a time limit system if you haven't seen it already, which i argue adds to the horror and fun element of the game (where you'll most definitely be punished for wandering around too much.)
an interesting innovation this game has made is the case system. fail a mission or arrive too late and you can still play the game or restart it, leading you to either unlock an ending or start from a save, or well... start all over Again. and progression from your previous "Runs" as i'll call them, can carry over to new games, serving as a sort of difficulty system.
you can definitely sap the fun from this game if you already know and use the best weapons/equipment from the start, so I'd recommend you go in blind as this has ruined some of the fun from the experience.
i love this game but its BUGGY AFFFFF
An absolute classic. I don't know how the new DRDR compares to the original, but you can't really go wrong with this one. Not too many issues as far as I've gotten besides a crash while I was attempting to get Zombie Genocider.
It has been almost 20 years and still nothing more instantly and reliably induces anxiety poops like the opening riff and that little wolf howl at the beginning of "Gone Guru", and covering or even fighting wars can't be any more harrowing than the soul destroying futility of trying to get the imbecilic survivors to walk past a handful of zombies in order to cross a room. Yet experiencing one of Capcom's finest creative achievements is well worth these lifelong traumas.
bullshit every aspect of this game is annoying and aggravating cant believe this started a franchise whole game makes me want to rip my hair out
This game fucking sucks
a good ass classic capcom game
So, besides a small bug, and the survivors ai being garbage ( except for a few wich i happily escorted ), the game is great, and it makes sense why it got 3 games. the pc version has some bugs, but it's not unplayable, it's fun, killing zombies is fun, and the overall experience goes from 'god, i hate this task' to 'finally i finished this task, time to farm pp!'
If you're gonna play this, i recommend getting the three books to give the small chainsaw from Adam a huge buff in durability.
this game is smashing (it is very good)
the best zombie game of all time!!!!
After playing the remake I can confidently say that this one is better
trying to 100% this game is like asking to be tortured and beaten alive
genuinely, these achievements are so fucking hard
Saint and 7 day survivor.........
I'M FRANK WEST AND I'VE COVERED WARS YA KNOW
this game is amzing 10/10 would reccomend
was the first zombie game I've ever played. See myself coming back here more than any game i own. If its full price or on sale i would always recommend playing this one. Game is so simple and do whatever you want type attitude. Hands down the best zombie game.
best zombie game just like cory says
died due to some motherfucker with a gun and had to basically start the entire game over again, great game
While I vastly prefer the sequel, I will say that this is a decent first entry into the Dead rising franchise given how it has some of the best ideas when it comes to surviving a zombie apocalypse. That said, I have to caution those willing to give it a try here as this has some of the worst friendly A.I in gaming as well as the coms links being irritating as all hell. It's a mixed review, but I ultimately prefer to recommend games if they're fun overall.
it did indeed, rise my dead.
