Story
Set in an apocalyptic 1986, the survivors of a zombie outbreak live on among the remains of human civilization, trying to survive this hell on earth by any means necessary. You play Randall Wayne, an introverted and slightly paranoid survivor searching the destroyed streets of Seattle for his loved ones. Through tense platforming and life-threatening zombie encounters you must decide whether to use scarce ammunition and weapons to decimate the horde, or navigate the environment to sneak past them and hide. There’s more than one way to survive against the walking undead remains of the human race, now known only as ‘shadows’.Deadlight: Director’s Cut enhances the original Deadlight in every way. Improved visuals and textures bring even more detail to the remnants of Seattle, plus enhanced controls and new animations make Randall even more agile. Now you must fight for your life and put your survival skills to the test in Deadlight: Director’s Cut new game mode, the ‘Survival Arena’.

from my experience, its a good game, i like it
Played it for about an hour when it crashed. After restart the "continue" option restarted the story. Luckily I can select a scene so I could start from almost at the same point where my last save should have been. Then it crashed at the exact same point... I have seen others saying similar things. I loved the art style and the atmosphere they created, the story was looking good too until the game crashed. Unfortunately I can not recommend as it is now, but I wish it worked.
FYI: I did not try the recommended uninstall/reinstall "fix" as I just installed the game before I started playing...
It's decent, I would lean more on a mixed review, but besides the broken saves nothing really bothered me and It's fun once you get the weapons.

tried to record a video for my YouTube channel but it kept having issue it started off fine and everything but then it started crashing and having issue like spawning me under the map and the jumping and the climbing mechanics are awful i hated ever last second of it. it would be a fun game but its broken i would not recommend this game to nobody its horrible and glitches out on the cut scenes. Not to mention the sound quality during the cut scenes are quite not a fun game.

Very well done. However, it's not my kind of game. Didn't finish it.
I really wanted to like this game. But I can not. By far.
- This is not a zombie apocalypse survival game. It is a parkour game with sinister background. Enviro deaths are much more common than zombie related deaths
- it is not clear what is just graphics and what is play area, ledges to grab or surfaces to walk on
- It is not about you reacting in a smart way to your situation, it is about you going in, guessing and likely dying, and knowing what happens adjusting tactic. And what the tactic is? Well, either run quickly or wait a bit.
- The mechanisms are not entertining but annoying. The character climbs here and there due to clunky controls. For example, if you climb down the ladder with S and hold it a bit longer, the character gets back on the ladder after getting off it, and gets off the ladder again, which due to animations take quite some time and now you run from checkpoint again because even those slow zombies get to you that way. And jumping right-left-right-left while hanging on the wall is just super annoying.
- there are no engaging puzzles in the game, just trivial ones
That is the bulk of the game, run in, die if you guess what to do incorrectly, and run from checkpoint again. And the story is predictable, including ending.I had no fun at all, I just stuck with it hoping for something interesting to happen, but then the game just... ended. It is not even good for one rainy afternoon. I got it for like 2 € and still did not get my money´s worth.

Shadow Complex - same concept - 256x better.

É um plataforma 2D, similar aos antigos Prince Of Persia, com um pano de fundo de "apocalipse zumbi". Embora o enredo não traga novidades em relação a outros similares, o jogo é bem feito e redondinho. Não considero um jogo de terror, já que o foco maior são os desafios de plataforma (talvez um bom ponto de partida para quem tem medo de jogos de terror). Não tem enrolação, e vai direto ao ponto (é possível terminá-lo na dificuldade padrão em cerca de 3 horas). Os gráficos ainda são legais para 2024, os controles em geral são ok, a dublagem não soa tão natural (mas não é ruim), e a trilha sonora é boa. Um ponto que me desagradou um pouco são momentos que não dão a chance para o jogador perceber certos perigos e evita-los antes de morrer. Em geral o saldo é positivo.
Completei o jogo em um sistema Linux utilizando o SteamPlay (Proton 9.0-2) sem problemas.
Frustrating with the technical glitches and bugs
Game is actually not that bad, it had a good start, nice atmosphere but when then game is about a zombie apocalypse and you have a higher chance of dying from traps which are everywhere and poorly painted environment which you can't even tell whether it's jumpable on it or not, than a ZOMBIE, you know something ain't right.
Very uninspiring. Dropped it.
Probably best to pick it in a sale. Around 4.3 hours to complete 100% the base game.
I have played this game long time ago.
Its not your average zombie like game where you shoot a lot. The games puts you in a apocalypse zombie in 1986.
Its more of a platformer game with some elements of puzzles and some shooting involved.
But the game teaches you that its better to escape from the zombies than to fight them in most of the situations.
The movement its kinda rough or slow in an intentional way. So you feel that you are surviving and not just destroying hordes of zombies.
