In this top down zombie survival game you must scavenge areas for crucial items, survive waves of zombies, search for any survivors and secure safe houses. By securing safe houses with survivors and repairing your barricades you will be able to fast-travel in the game. You will be required to craft important items that will help you on your quest. You will also have access to multiple weapons, such as hand guns, assault rifles, powerful shotguns, a crossbow, throwing knives, cocktail molotovs, explosive mines, grenades and more. You will also have various melee weapons to break crates containing items to craft or simply to defend yourself when you’re out of ammo.
As you progress in the game you will find blueprints that will unlock new crafting skills. These skills will be indispensable for creating medic packs to heal yourself, sticky bombs for breaking down important doors, lock picks for gaining access to secret areas or for crafting several other weapons. The game also has optional side quests like collecting important letters that will give insight on the infection or completing achievements.
The different infected you will encounter:
Slow Zombies - Relatively easy to kill, yet can appear in mass.
Runners - Fast zombies with more resistance. Will add a new level of stress!
Zombie Beasts - Slow, yet very resistant and very strong. Don't let these guys touch you!
Game Features
- Try to escape the island and the infection
- Find survivors and secure safe houses
- Scavenge the areas and then craft your weapons and items
- Buy new weapons in the optional shop
- Collect letters and obtain achievements
- Try not to die

so far have to say that this game isn't bad. it's got a few issues that i would love to see fixed, for one controller support would not be all that hard in this game, twin stick controls and triggers (but that's just me being greedy :p)
maybe change the cursor to a targetting symbol so i can see where i'm aiming a bit better? also could we get a system that allows us to give survivors a weapon to aid them so i'm not feeling like i'm playing babysitter? I love zombie games, but i hate it when i feel like i'm stuck as the babysitter ><
Otherwise? game's pretty good so far. Would definitely recommend to a friend who likes games like project zomboid and other top down survival/zombie games.
Fun game can beat it in about 3 hours if you're just doing the main missions, gets a little repetitive. Might be one of those game you only buy on sale but a good game (also dammm that voice acting)
the voice actor for the main character is quite bad in my opinion. Voiced like a poor Arnold Schwarzeneggar impression. The animation for the melee weapons is quite bad. (just a plank making a swipe animation, you dont even weild it). SOme of the level design is just aweful, especially the zones in the forest, you can barely see anything since the foilage is covering the entire screen and the supposed open path is barely visable with barely any visable range to the side so you cannot see when a zombie is approaching you from any direction. Some zone will always have the zombies rush at you and it's especailly fustrating on the forest map because you cant see anything. The running zombies are way too fast, they should either lower it's movement speed or increase the overhead veiw zone in order to allow the players to react. Also the safe zone mission is a pain because it depend on luck due to the fact that you have to find npc in the open and they spawn at a really low chance.
if you plan on getting this game don't, just save your money.
to begin with the voice acting is just terrible (it sounds like when someone is on tv but they dont want there real voice heard so they distort it) and the gameplay reflects it, i get lost easily in foliage there is no indication on where you should be heading until you literally run against the wall and wait for the prompt to proceed. The zombies are a real pain in the butt to kill in the beginning, the melee is bad as well. The cutscene animations are garbage (if i can call it animation), the mouse stays locked on your screen and that gets old fast. i wish those two men i helped sprayed my head everywhere so i would be spared of playing this game.
Cheap game, all around cheap piece of crap. Voice acting will have you wanting to mute game altogether. Could have been fun but can't get over this feeling that the game should have stayed in oven a little longer. It just feels incomplete. Stuck at a point on securing the first safehouse. Zombies killed - Check, Gates repaired - Check, 2/3 survivors and here lies the problem. You can only move to places you've been, can't move farther because I have searched every where and the 3rd survivor is non existant. Did I miss something? I guess I'll never now, spent as much time as I could before deciding that this was a complete waste of my time and money. The game only tells you that you can't move further. You have no idea of knowing if you've missed something or if that part of game doesn't open till way later in game. Several spots to use sticky bombs yet no idea of when that blueprint will drop. Stay away, you've been warned lol
Wow, instant refund. I'm sorry this is just awful
Horrible controls
terrible voice acting (lol bad)
moving around is tedious, you never no where your going or allowed to go using the map doesnt help
zombies or infected move together and look the same, if a group of 4 come at you they're all moving the same
start with a double barrel shot gun hardly any ammo long reloads, so you keep having to walk around trying to reload on a map that has invisible walls. So if your backing up to shoot you might be able to go to the left or right or up and down but you never know till you get to the side of the screen..this is nothing like I expected from watching videos...
once theres more content i could see myself playing a lot more and even with friends is multiplayer is ever implemented. Only suggestions i have would be to nerf the starting pistol a little its kinda op, and also buff the assault rifle, its weaker than the starting pistol
Besides resetting the amount of time I have played this, I’m happy with my purchase. It’s a simple and fun game. Jump in with a very small learning curve. Graphically this is obviously not on par with an expensive game but at this price it looks much better than many other titles sitting in my inventory. That said, I like the audio much more than the visuals.
Here is a little gameplay I recorded. A bit dark as the software was recently updated and I spaced on adjusting light levels.

Now that you've watched that. Go shoot some zombies in the face.
I've never played an Early Access game that took 25 minutes to finish. 3 weapons, 3 enemies, and 7 levels that all look the same. Usually when a game comes out in Early Access it has some actual lasting content so players can get a taste of things to come as well as provide feedback to the developer. The only impression I got from this is that it'll either take forever to finish or the devs will abandon it.
This game is so early in development that it feels like nothing more than a prototype. The only feedback that can be provided from this experience is to add some actual content.
If future content is going to be identical to what we see here, then it'll be just as dull and boring.
Oh yea, and you can play a slightly uglier version of this game completely for free on Newgrounds:
www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/655182
So they decided to upgrade the engine and textures slightly and re-sell it for $2.
My full impression of this game is available here including a huge amount of criticism:

A simple, top-down zombie defense-ish game with a decent art style.
Come for the gameplay, stay for the most Canadian voiceacting the early 90's has to offer.
I think a critic should state their likes and dislikes before they do a hatchet job on some style of game they didn't like to begin with or know much about..So I normally play pipe puffer empire building games, the more boring the better and I'm into my 68th summer so zombie shooters are not my staple by any means." Dark Days" seems certainly OK,fine, and any short comings could be my fault rather than the games.
It looks ok not great but certainly functional,I used my Sidewinder 2 joystick and my Logitech Precision controller and both ,surprisingly, worked well.I found keyboard control fine ,pretty easy really .Not a lot of assistance getting up and running but enough for me so its heaps really. No crashes, bugs, bad boogie woogie, it ran well and was fun.I'm running it in Win7 64 bit and it runs this game superbly.
Things I didn't like much are ( 1) inaccurate gunfire. I was raised in the 1 shot 1 kill era but it seems even at a few feet aiming is quite impossible in this game, so its blast away,Blam, blam, blam ,tripple tap, fortuneatly there is plenty of ammo everywhere ,the game must be set in the US of A (2) .I found zombie bashing with your chosen chunk of 4x2 frankly a bit feeble.Never mind, maybe Zombies are new age sensitive guys and don't need a good biffing to take a dive..(3) The aforementioned Zombies are very noisy and it gets a bit annoying rather than scary after a while.
This is a good game ,cheap as , its works and is fun now -it can only get better.Yep, worth buying...
OK so, let's start :P
Pro's:
-Good gameplay
-Good ideas
-I thinks this game could be a very good game
-Cheap
-nice crafting and market ideas
Bad's
-Falay AI (not very inteligent sorry Falay)
-Invincible ai (yup you have good AI thats almost invincible)
-Spam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! of d1cks
So my word ,is that if you have like it was a sale and it was like 50 cents so if you can buy it :3
And keep in mind it's in Early Acces :D so if you come with cool ideas you can talk with the creators and have your ideas in game :3
Sweeeeet game for that price :)
7/10 (compared with L4D)
+15/10 (compared with How To Survive)
6.5/10 (compared with my global rating system)
Just purchased this game yesterday.

Dark Days is a 3D Top Down Zombie Shooter. In early access beta build, I went in not expecting a lot and walked away satisfied with the content so far provided. Obviously, there is a lot a work ahead to make this game something special but the animations give a different spin on it and the voice acting with the minor storyline adds the right kind of chemistry that could make this game a great game down the road.
I've slapped together a quick review and recap to show you guys some gameplay footage and an idea of what it is about. Hope you enjoy it!

Another top down zombie shooter game?
Yes, I know what you are saying to yourself... because I asked the same thing when I saw this new early access action game pop up today on sale!
But for what it offers it's first day in early access, it offers a HUGE bang for your gaming dollar!
Here's my 'First Play on Launch Day" early access review video:

Destructable items? Check,
Ability to craft items? Check.
Ability to buy new items and sell items? Check.
Lots of different weapons? Check.
Is it fun? Check!
It is cool? Double check!
Does it control well with the mouse and keyboard? Check!
..Is it worth the regular price of $1.99 USD on Steam? Triple Check!
Just quit complaining already. Yes it's another zombie shooter. Yes, it's another top down shooter. ..Suck it up butter cup, buy it already.. you know you want to.. and go kick some zombies butt!
You've played this game a hundred times before. Maybe in a browser, maybe you bought it for a pittance in a Steam sale because what are you really risking for like £0.07 and ooh, trading cards. It isn't awful and it is still obviously a very early build but I honestly can't see it developing into anything worth picking up except begrudgingly as part of a bundle.
I'll spare you the well-worn intricacies of Dark Days (make molotovs, buy guns, kill fast/slow/brute zombie, next level) and instead offer the developers a little feedback just to bring the title up to speed with even the most mediocre of titles that share its genre.
1.) There's no intensity. None. Why would I panic about any of my fences breaking when I can easily outrun even the fastest zombie? I often found myself jumping over the barricades anyway, searching for stuff to kill that was actually taking forever to spawn.
2.) Guns and ammo are far too cheap and some are gamebreaking. As soon as I got hold of the shotgun, it was essentially game over. Everything dies in one shot except the giants who die in three and move so painfully slowly that they're more of a threat to the other zombies by blocking their way than they are to me.
3.) By contrast, the ranged weapons are practically pointless. Molotovs do nothing. Zombies just wander through the fire like its scotch mist. The tactical use of the mines and the one-shot kill of the knives are just as effective as a shotgun blast, except I don't have to craft shells for that in multiples of three. The grenades have a fuse delay so they're utterly useless against the runner zombies who are the only mild threat in the game. Which I shotgun. Because the shotgun is insane.
4.) The first survivor's gun appears to do nothing. I've stood there watching him pour nearly a hundred M16 rounds into a standard undead just for it to carry on shambling towards me.
5.) It's called DUCT tape. Not 'duck tape'. Although there is a brand of tape in the US called 'Duck' but I sincerely doubt that's what you meant.
I think that'll do for starters. Maybe after that we can talk about the sheer repetitiveness and emptiness of the scenery or the fact that the flashlight doesn't really do anything useful but honestly, I'll just be reposting some variant of this review on another zombie defence title next week so I'm pessimistic to say the least.
Highlights from my experience with it are below:

This game have great potential. Hope to see more level or even an open world style map. With more missions, objectives, items and weapons. Already waiting for the next update :D
Needs several more levels, quests and larger maps to explore but overall this game has great potential! I love the eerie feeling and fast-paced action. Looking forward to updates.
The game is really fun and interactive! I would recommend my friends to buy it.
Since it is in alpha, I think this game will become bigger and we will be able to have a lot of fun!
It's very promising for something this early into development.. The graphics look great. The controls are surprisingly right. I'm not a big fan of those games where WSAD moves my character around and I use the mouse to click on enemies to shoot, but this game is paced well enough where that was not an issue at all. I picked up my controller and the left analog was able to move my character around!! If he makes it so the right analog allows me to aim like a twin stick shooter, this is going to be a fantastic game! PLEASE DO THIS! Also, this game has a really great ragdoll physics engine. After you shoot down a zombie, you can sort of kick him around for a bit before he disappears.
The bad? It's got issues. Not the kind of issues you want in a game. In my case, I can't click on the inventory button in full screen mode. Just not possible. In windowed mode if you maximize the window, it works fine. So that's something I expect will get fixed very soon, the developer already stated in a thread that it will be looked at asap and will make a hotkey to open the inventory as well.
Let's start the patch train, I'm quite impressed so far.
