It's peak
Definitely worth playing with friends. The game holds up mechanics wise, despite being so old. I was pleasantly surprised how good the gameplay is, however, the game itself is quite simple and has 0 active player base. There is also essentially no singleplayer gameplay other than the practice mode where hordes of npcs spawn the more that you play. The only reason you should get this game is if you intend to get some friends together.
Also disclaimer; I bought this game on sale for $1. The original price of $10 would be reasonable if it had active servers, but I personally would wait for a sale and send a copy to a friend or two.
10/10 Legendary.

Played during the initial release >10 years ago. Bought it yesterday to see if it was alive. Launched the game, didn't work, lobbies are dead. Started a refund request. Steam denied it 3x times because I have >2 hours of play time from a free weekend ALMOST FIFTEEN YEARS AGO. Actually predatory behavior. Don't waste your money buying this game if you've played it before and think you'll get your money back, because you won't.

Good fun game shame its abandoned by players and somehow TF2 is still alive and this isnt
Awesome Game, by nowadays considered to be retro. However, it is lacking player base ever since the first generation of players grew older.
