Downvote for "1001 Jackalopes" achievement
Keeps the charm of the original trio, and is more friendly towards non guided playtroughs. I still had to look up how to get some achievements and stuff, but for the most part it was fine.
Just keep the good memories from Deponia 1-3 and dont waste anything on this title.
I feel lost, stressed, bored and dissatisfied. I cant recommend this part.

It was alright. I don't think it's as strong as the original three, but if you've stuck with the journey this far it's totally worth seeing it to its inclusion and some of the new characters are fun to interact with.
It often happens that sequels of already completed stories are no more than pitiful attempts of "riding" the shadow of success of the main story. Here, this is definitely not the case. This game has managed to twist around the plot of its previous main story by intriguing and interesting way, which also filled some holes and misses in the original story.
P.S. Disregard the playtime, I played this whole franchise early out of Steam and here bought it just for sake of my game collection.
After getting the original trilogy for free (*ahem* given out on a different game service which I won't name) and basically doing nothing but play through them for several days until completion, I decided to cave in and pay the whole $2 for this entry on sale.
If you're old enough to think Curse of Monkey Island was the best in the series, and have a dark sense of humor, you're doing a HUGE disservice by not playing these games. Beautiful artwork and a stellar voice cast hook you right in.
I LOVED this entry. Even though there is a huge amount of "repeating" parts ala Zelda Majora's Mask, I never felt cheated out of gameplay. There was always something new and another puzzle to figure out, and less pixel-hunting than some of the earlier games. New locales and familiar ones completely redrawn from alternate angles always give you something cool to see while you're scratching your head in frustration, and luckily this title doesn't have some of the more "moon logic" style issues from some of the others (the music/password puzzle in the dark alleyway, I'm looking at you!).
The bad? Still issues with some voice lines being WAY too quiet (at least in English). I just leave subtitles on (I usually like them just to see the color/font choices, plus sometimes there's a word I've never heard before and I can look it up. You know they usually never repeat the line!).
There are a couple game-breaking glitches but luckily I never had to re-load (save often in multiple slots! Just like we did with EVERY adventure game decades ago!). The double-click arrows to fast travel glitch is less present as well (it still sometimes plays the full walk animation).
As for the ending? Sorry if you expecting some Robert Zemeckis-style heatfelt bow to wrap everything up just because the game oozes BTTF/Doc Who/etc. vibes; there's just going to be another game. Deal with it.
First: I recommend all the Deponia series. It is a great fun starting with some crude ideas evolving to an amazing story.
There are a lot of jokes in there (not everyone understandable by kids) and a lot of puzzles to be solved in different manors.
After having played the entire Deponia series I can say something about its evolution.
Each game was getting richer in content, in ideas, in complexity and in size.
This last title sure made a jump forward in all aspects. The artwork evolved too ... I liked it from the beginning but it also changed a bit and added sort of comic style elements.
I was very happy to find the voices which I knew from the older titles.
The only thing I sometimes disliked was when the puzzles are suddenly depend on the order of things to be done or rely on a to tight timing. You have got all things you need, you tested every possible combination ... you got stuck and the only reason is that two things have to be done in a different order (same scene!).
I had only two bugs appearing in the entire series!! But also these could luckily be solved through other users guides.
The ending of the series has went philosophical. For me this was a bit sad, but this depends on you.
In total ... a lot of game, fun and artwork for your money!
One of the best Point & Click adventure games / franchises
Recommended with 1 condition: Just look up how to get the star for the photo (you'll know once you're there). The solution is so asinine that I spent 3 hours wandering figuring it out and I still had to look it up in the end. This is the biggest sore spot in the entire series of 4 games total. If you do look it up though, it'll be a slight speedbump at most.
The rest of the game was fun and was very clever about the main concept. Had good pacing and the stakes and scope increased nicely as well. Quirky puzzles for the most part and nice presentation.
Playing the trilogy before this can help one understand more of the story and references but is ultimately not required (but I'd suggest taking a peek at those if someone liked this as well).
WHAT A TWIST

Deponia Doomsday (2016)
The last of the Deponia games to end off the story of Rufus. Deponia Doomsday was a surprise to me when I heard about it as I thought the previous game rounded off the story pretty well, I really didn't knew what to expect from a fourth title. I was mostly correct, if you end the series with Goodbye Deponia it's a perfect story. Doomsday is a fun story and I did enjoy it, but I feel this title drags the story on for too long.
The game follows the same point-and-click gameplay from the previous games and the humour and characters remain spot on as always. This game does have a lot of interesting time travel sci-fi portal stuff going for it, I will give it credit for that. The story was indeed a wild ride. If you love that kind of thing this title is a perfect game to immerse yourself in it. The graphics remain beautiful as always. Not much to say really. if you played the previous Deponia games you know what to expect and the formula remains the same. There is an achievement that will take years off your life if you want to unlock it, just be ready for that. Once you see it, you will know.

"There's a time for paintball, and a time to clamber over the ruins of all your hopes and dreams. Now, if I had some ammunition, I could do both at the same time."
- Rufus
Goal is a bit more of a real character in this one, and it's a pretty decent finale to the series.
I just finished doomsday today, and I'm still sad 😿
Germaannss why do you hate happy endings 😭😭😭
its a nice conclusion to the story i guess
It's a lovely game.
Fun and funny game i like it
The best Deponia game and fixes a lot of the writing issues of the first three while keeping everything good, loved it.
Only issue is that a lot of the story beats won't be impactful unless you've played through the first three games and were able to suffer through the protagonist for that long. Still, the world, comedic tone, and great art direction make this an absolute treat to play just like the last few titles.
Deponia Doomsday continues the quirky adventure series with its signature blend of humor and puzzling. Set in a vibrant, dystopian world, you’ll navigate bizarre scenarios and solve inventive puzzles as you follow a comedic storyline. The game’s colorful art style and witty dialogue create an engaging experience for fans of point-and-click adventures. While it may not reinvent the wheel, it delivers plenty of laughs and brain-teasers for those who enjoy a charming, offbeat adventure.
This game was complete shit. The whole story from game 1 to this game has been so shit. 0 humour, 0 ending, 0 sense of puzzles, 0 music (WHAT THE FUCK AM I LISTENING TO?!?), character art was good ngl, voice acting is good, protagonist is just so dumb that one starts to hate him and for once he does something good at the end, there is no end? Wasted money, time and mental health. Had to watch walkthrough to get through this game multiple times because game puzzles makes no sense. Atleast could've made the ending a little bit better. Was thinking of spitting on screen when the team photo came on credits. May your game company just shut down somehow. Amen.
